Beauty of Egg Sculptures

Today, when I was searching the web for some nice pictures for this website, I accidentally saw a picture of an egg sculpture. I got attracted to it immediately and I scolded myself for missing a post on this site about such a nice and skillful art.

I have always been fascinated with Egg Sculpturing or Egg Shell Sculpturing chiefly due to the skill it demands from the sculptor and when finished it presents a the life with a new look. Egg shell sculptors use eggs of emu, ostrich, geese, rhea, turkey and chicken. Each of these eggs has its own quality that helps the design and makes the sculptures more beautiful. Egg of Emu is dark green and while carving two colors of teal blue and white are revealed. The sculptors use these natural colors while carving the piece of art on the Egg shell.

How are the Egg sculptures carved ?

The Eggs are first emptied and cleaned. When the egg is dried, the artist draws the sketch of the artwork directly on the egg shell with a pencil. Then using sharp tools of his choice the artist cuts and engraves the artwork. After finishing the work, the eggs are usually bleached to get rid of the membrane inside the shell, if any. The eggs are dried and displayed for sale. The artworks usually come with a sign of the artist on the egg shell. A certificate is also issued to the buyer stating that the artist has produced the work and that it has been hand carved.

This art demands great patience and concentration while artworks are carved. I am presenting a few of the amazingly great artworks of egg shell sculptures below. Enjoy and applaud the work of those artists. The copy rights of these pictures are retained by the respective owners.

12 Inch Kid

This is a true story about a girl of just 12 inches when she was born. Diana was 24 week pregnant. This is her second conception. Several complications had forced for emergency cesarean. She gave birth to a girl child who was only 12 inches long and weighed only one pound. It was due to the premature cesarean.
The doctors said she will not make it. If at all, it would be for that night only. But the parents did not lose hope and asked the doctors what will be her health if she survives all perils. It was hard for the doctor too, to answer this. He said in a gentle tone that she may never walk, she may be dumb, blind and she may have to suffer with cerebral palsy and several other problems like improper growth of brain etc.

The parents had to bear all those shocking words of the doctor. But they never lost their hope. What added to the pain was that they can't take the baby in their arms. They can't even kiss her. She was only 12 inches long and she has been subject to various medicines and careful treatment. It was horrible for them to see their daughter fight for life tangled with wires and tubes.

Miraculously, the baby started growing ounce by ounce and after two months it was time for the parents to take the baby to their chest !

After a few days the doctors discharged the baby with gentle warnings about the little girl's health.

The baby slowly started growing just like a normal child proving the doctors wrong. She started to crawl just at the right time, walked just at the right time and started talking just at the right time as any other normal child would do !

She was born on March 10, 1991.

3. Mobile Apples.com : Another free mobile content website. Has tons of great wallpapers and screensavers. If you create wallpapers, your upload them to their gallery also.

5. Flycell.com : Looks like a gaming site but has big collection of wallpapers and screensavers.

I am sorry for making no posts for the past few days as I have been busy with my office work. I was so tired to make any posts on my blog. When I wanted to relax a bit I turned to gaming. I was searching for good gaming sites to play online and download a few for playing offline.
I found many sites that were offering free online games but only a few were good. Rapleaf business, which conducts studies for social networks, telcos, political organizations etc. has conducted a survey on June 10, 2008 about the usage of social networking for 175 million people. The study revealed
the interesting fact that women are dominating the social networking media. The social networking sites The Rapleaf choses are Facebook, Bebo, Friendster, HI5, MySpace etc.

All these sites have more Female members than Male. Myspace tops the list in all age groups followed by flixter. Obviously they are very active.

Women make friends better

Women in most of the age groups have more friends than men. But in certain age groups they are lagging behind. In the age group of 35-44 in the category of 501-1000 friends, men have more friends than women. But in the younger age groups, they are dominating force.

Everyone loves comics, children and grown-ups as well. Children want to create comic characters and comic strips. Anyone can create a comic strips with Makebelliefscomix.com. Choose the character, emotion, write a dialogue. Thats it.

This site is flash based and may take a little time to load. Once it loads, you can work fast. Interface is easy, even a small child can use it. There are fifteen pre-designed characters with four emotions each. When you Select a character you can see it in menu window. Click right or left arrow to change its emotion and click on it to see it on the panel strip. Choose talk or thought balloon and type what it says or thinks. You can change the panel to be two or three or four windowed. You can even change the background colors of the panels.

Your can move the characters, scale them, or flip them. The site lacks the feature of saving the comic strips. You can print or mail them to yourself or friends.

Last night I was searching internet to find something interesting, I came across a website which was started for women. This site's mission is to help women to take blogging as their profession - problogging. HerProBlog.com. It quickly caught my attention as I am thinking to encourage my wife to take up blogging -definitely not as a pro - but as a hobby. I sifted through all the pages of herproblog.com and found that it is really helpful for women. The about page of herproblog.com says this :

"The number one goal of HerProBlog.COM is help women bloggers from all walks of life, all levels of blog publishing understanding, and desired income earning goals, create and maintain professional blogs. Whether your goal is to earn a respectable income through blogging or because of blogging, HerProBlog.COM is here to help."

Of course, this blog is helpful for men as well.

The site loads fast enough. It has a unique pleasing design. The Menu is below the header image and has drop-down list. A few of the topics covered are blogging basics, Discovery and reviews of blogs, fun, interviews, Motivation & Encouragement, Niche Blogging etc.

These topics have extensively researched articles by experienced authors. The site has seven authors and all are well established in their own niches of blogging.

The side bar is dedicated for Ads, Recent Comments and Recent Articles.

The top box below the menu scrolls the list of featured articles. Below this box are Other Recent Articles with the pic of the author and links to post pages.

The articles are authoritative, intuitive and written by pros who have seen ups and downs in becoming pro bloggers.

This is a great resource site for women and men as well who want to take up blogging as livelihood.

As I finished researching the site, I called my wife to show this site to her. She sat in my chair, started checking out the site. "yea, It is useful for me," she said and suddenly ran to the bed to lull my nine month-old son that was crying in sleep. "He won't let me do it", she smiled.

Breakthrough in Cancer Research

Us Doctors claim that they successfully treated a skin cancer patient with cloned cells from his own immune system. A 52 year old man was suffering from melanoma which was already advanced and in stage four.

The team of Doctors under Cassian Yee of Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle removed CD4+ T-cells, were modified and expanded in the bal and five billion cells were infused into the patient. The patient received no other kind of treatment.

two months later no tumors were found during scans. 'He has been cancer free' Yee said. 'But we need to confirm the effectiveness of therapy in a larger study' he continued.

This is the first ever cancer case to be treated with cloned cells form patient's own immune system.

Russel Davies is an author. He was wondering whether there was a way of tracking Amazon rank of a particular book on Twitter as well as Email. He had to log into his Amazon account if he wants to check the rank of his book. He asked Adrian about it and he immediately built a brilliant thing called Booklert.

Booklert is a tool that tracks the Amazon rank of your own book or your favorite book and delivers the rank to your Email and most importantly, to your twitter account. It works like this:

Sign up at Booklert. After logging in, you are asked to search for a book. Enter the title, author name and ISBN (if you know.

I didn't know my book's ISBN) and choose the store where it is sold ( Amazon US or UK or France) from the dropdown box and hit search. The results of your search are shown below with a button 'track this book'. When you click that button you are taken to My Settings. Here you have to choose the way you want to track the book. If you want to track the book via Email or Twitter or both.

If you want the rank to be delivered to your Twitter account, enter your Twitter username and click save. Now go to Booklert page at Twitter and click 'follow'. You will get a message which contains a validation code. Enter that validation code on your settings page. Set the frequency of the alerts you wish to receive, hourly, daily or weekly and you are done. You will receive the ranking on your phone via Twitter and via email.

You can check the ranking along with graph from My Books page. You can even share your book's rank on your website also. Go to 'put your book's rank on your website' tab. If you are an Amazon affiliate, enter the ID or leave the field blank, copy the html code and paste it in your blog template or widget. You are done.

This is such a nice idea that is useful for not only authors themselves but also for their fans. You can track the rank of your favorite book and promote it as well. If you are an amazon affiliate, it provides you the chance to push the books that are more profitable for you. You can track as many books as you wish.

The Booklert Home Page displays a Weekly Chart of top Climbers or the ones that have been going down the rank. But the chart is limited to only 5 books each. There is no way to know about more books on the chart, not even from your account.

Revamp of my blog

Let me first thank my readers for visiting my blog. I would like to put forth a proposal about revamping my blog. My favourite is to share the websites I found on internet with my readers and my blog name partly justifies that truly. So the Websites section will remain as it is now. In fact that is the section which is getting me some readers too.

Internet has many things on it apart from wallpapers and videos. I want to remove these two sections from my blog and introduce some other sections in place of them. I have been very seriously thinking about it for the past few days.

But I thought it is not right for me to take the decision myself coz I am not writing this blog for myself. This is for my readers ! They are very important for me. So the right thing for me is to take the opinion of my readers before I actually decide on what sections to be introduced in stead of wallpapers and videos.

My vague idea is to introduce Tech News and news about Mobiles and their applications. I have not yet decided.

If you have any suggestions, please do so by leaving a comment or by mailing me. My email is at my Contact Page.

I will finally decide only after seeing your replies. The blog will run with the present sections until final decision is taken.

The webstie has groups which are started by members. Most of the groups are public and for members of all countries. Activities page lists out recent activity by the members in chronological order.

The website does not have categories which makes it a little difficult to search for advice. But it has Tag Cloud called as popular categories. But I found that many members are not tagging their questions so some questions may miss attention they deserve.

Minti.com is a website which resembles yahoo answers and parenting forum but it is much more than a forum. Members contribute content on the website. Its a website which is powered by parents, truely as the tag line of the website says. This site is must visit for any parent, 'cause parenting needs advice and minti.com provides it.
