The song was written by Qiao Wei, chief scriptwriter of the Sanya 2026 opening and closing ceremonies; composed by Lv Liang, chief music director; and performed by 20 young volunteer performers.

"In traditional culture, ‘Tianya Haijiao’ (literally ‘the edge of the sky and the rim of the sea’) has long been seen as a distant place. Yet passion and youth bring people closer. Here, Tianya Haijiao becomes a starting point from which young people set out together," said lyricist Qiao Wei. "The 20 voices in harmony symbolize an ‘Asian family’ converging like starlight, reflecting shared youth and beautiful integration."

Composer Lv Liang said the song blends the traditional vocal calls and singing styles of the Li ethnic group into a more structured musical form, infused with sporting spirit and youthful energy. "The rhythm and melody are designed to give an immediate sense of sun-like warmth, as if running on a beach," he noted.

On the creative concept, Qiao Wei said: "Let ordinary and authentic voices be heard; let resonance and youth come together in harmony—everyone is an irreplaceable voice of youth." Lv Liang added: "No single individual is highlighted, as everyone is expressing their truest voice. Sincerity is more moving than technique."

This concept of convergence, integration, and cohesion gives the song a sense of inclusiveness, youthful vitality, and emotional resonance, while also reflecting the open, vibrant, and modern character of the Hainan Free Trade Port and Sanya. As Huang Peiling, chief director of the opening and closing ceremonies, noted, Sanya 2026 is a celebration of youth, showcasing a "vibrant Asian Beach Games and youthful Sanya" to Asia and the world through the opening ceremony.

In the title "See ya," "ya" is a pun referring to both "Asia" and "Sanya," carrying a sense of joyful meeting and shared anticipation.

"See ya in Sanya" is more than a song. It is an invitation from Sanya to Asia and the world. Its poetic lyrics, dynamic rhythm, and heartfelt performance come together to form a "promise of sea and sky" that celebrates youth and looks toward the future.

The three-day program, held from April 13 to 15, 2026, brought together 74 healthcare professionals from 13 countries—including Thailand, Brazil, and Chile—and took place across multiple venues, including Mercure Seoul Magok, COEX Magok, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and Daewoong’s Hyangnam manufacturing facility.

NMC is an educational platform designed to enhance physicians’ capabilities and promote academic exchange in response to the growing global demand for botulinum toxin procedures. This year’s program centered on the brand message "SAFETY ON, BEAUTY ON," highlighting PrabotulinumtoxinA’s safety and quality through a wide range of activities, from scientific sessions to facility tours. As aesthetic procedures increasingly shift toward high-dose and repetitive treatments, consistent safety has emerged as a critical benchmark in clinical practice.

The first day’s lecture sessions, themed "Evidence & Safety," featured presentations from leading experts, including Dr. Hosung Choi (Lieul Clinic, Seoul) on global trends, advanced injection techniques, and safety in botulinum toxin treatments; Dr. Wonwoo Choi (Wells Dermatology Clinic, Apgujeong) on diffusion characteristics and duration across different toxins based on global data; and Dr. Jaeyoon Jung (Oaro Dermatology Clinic, Nowon) on synergistic combination treatments using NABOLIFT, NABOGLOW, and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), along with real-world clinical applications.

The session concluded with a global panel discussion chaired by Dr. Choonshik Yoon (Yemiwon Dermatology Clinic), featuring key opinion leaders from APAC and Brazil—Dr. Hsin-Hung Chen, Dr. Hardiono Teddy Saputra, Dr. Siriyupa Kaosaypan, and Dra. Renata Primavera—who shared clinical cases and regional treatment trends. The session, titled "Why Botulinum Toxin Type A?", drew strong interest as it highlighted PrabotulinumtoxinA’s differentiation and competitiveness among various botulinum toxin products.

One of the program’s most distinctive components was the anatomy session, designed to enhance precision and safety in toxin injections. Prof. Seung-Ho Han of Ewha Womans University, Vice President of the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA), led cadaver-based training and face-painting sessions to demonstrate facial anatomy and layer-specific injection points. This was followed by live demonstrations of NABOLIFT and NABOGLOW via real-time broadcast, along with 1:1 hands-on training in small groups. Eight expert instructors—including Dr. Seongmin Noh (Benjamin Clinic), Dr. Jeesoo Kook (It’s Me Clinic, Ansan), Dr. Kyungtae Bae (It’s Me Clinic, Sejong), Dr. Youngwoon Park (Villa de Skin Dermatology Clinic), and Dr. Hyoseung Jang (Pieobom Clinic, Gangnam)—participated, earning positive feedback for delivering an immersive, practice-oriented learning experience.

PrabotulinumtoxinA’s proprietary techniques, NABOLIFT and NABOGLOW, attracted significant attention from both domestic and international participants. NABOLIFT focuses on lifting and contouring by targeting the muscle layer, while NABOGLOW enhances skin texture, tone, and pore appearance by targeting the dermal layer. Sessions sharing practical know-how and real clinical experiences received particularly strong engagement.

Dr. Hardiono Teddy Saputra, Director of Rejuvenated Clinic in Indonesia, commented, "This program went beyond simple demonstrations, offering valuable insights by sharing practical techniques and know-how that can be directly applied in real clinical settings. In particular, the well-integrated combination of live demonstrations and hands-on training significantly enhanced our understanding of the procedures."

The tour of Daewoong’s Hyangnam manufacturing facility was another key highlight. Participants explored both the existing and new production sites, gaining firsthand insight into PrabotulinumtoxinA’s quality control system and manufacturing infrastructure. Through exposure to aseptic processes, key production equipment, and automated logistics systems, attendees were able to appreciate the robust manufacturing capabilities underpinning Botulinum Toxin Type A’s safety and reliability.

Junsoo Yoon, Head of NABOTA Business Division at Daewoong Pharmaceutical, stated, "This year’s NMC was designed to consistently reflect our core value of ‘Safety’ throughout the program, allowing global healthcare professionals to experience it firsthand. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our brand competitiveness and global leadership through differentiated academic platforms that expand Botulinum Toxin Type A’s proprietary techniques and clinical expertise."

Through a partnership with Tree-Nation, every purchase of PITAKA’s new "Breath of Veins" phone case funds the planting of one mangrove tree on Kenya’s Swahili Coast—turning a consumer product into a traceable act of reforestation.

Instead of symbolic sustainability claims, each phone case now carries a verifiable environmental impact that connects everyday use with real-world ecological restoration.

From Purchase to Verified Impact

Each "Breath of Veins" phone case is directly linked to one newly planted mangrove tree in Kenya, a region critical for coastal protection and carbon capture.

Inside every product package, users will find a planting card with a QR code. By scanning it, customers can register their tree digitally and receive a personalized planting certificate

The initiative reframes ownership of a product into active participation in global reforestation efforts—where every purchase contributes to a measurable ecological outcome.

As PITAKA founder James puts it:

"Sustainability should not remain an abstract idea. It should become something people can directly take part in, and that is where real impact begins."

Beyond Earth Day

The campaign launches on April 22 and will run through October 21, 2026. For PITAKA, however, this is not a standalone activation but a continuation of its long-standing commitment to sustainability.

From durable everyday essentials to more responsible production and packaging, sustainability has always been embedded in how the brand creates and thinks about products.

"Breath of Veins" reflects this ongoing approach—linking product ownership with a more conscious and long-term relationship with the environment.

One Product, One Tree, One Measurable Impact

In a category defined by everyday accessories, PITAKA is redefining what product value means.

Not only what a product is made of—but what it makes possible.

With "Breath of Veins", each phone case becomes more than protection for a device. It becomes a verified contribution to global reforestation, where every purchase leaves a measurable trace in the real world.

From Success to Revolution: The R-GO Evolution

Building on the global commercial success of NINETYGO’s first-generation coffee luggage—currently available across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia—the new R-GO Coffee Journey Series introduces a radical upgrade in material science.

While the original series pioneered the use of recycled coffee grounds mixed with polycarbonate (PC), the R-GO prototype integrates Covestro’s premium post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials to reach a new frontier of environmental performance:

Carbon Footprint: Shells of a standard 20-inch carry-on are engineered to produce just 1.19 lbs (0.54 kg) of carbon emissions—a 67% reduction from the 3.4 lbs (1.54 kg) generated by traditional models.

Technical Benchmark: According to Covestro’s technical data, this is achieved by utilizing Makrolon®PCR solution, which reduces carbon emissions from 3.4 kg to 1.1 kg per kilogram compared to the virgin Makrolon® material.

Plastic Efficiency: These shells cut virgin plastic usage by 33.3% per unit.

Certified Integrity: All PCR materials used are validated by UL ECV Environmental Claim Validation and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), the industry’s most respected benchmarks for recycled content.

A Journey of Balance and Innovation The R-GO series is designed to prove that eco-conscious engineering can coexist with premium durability. In rigorous internal laboratory simulations designed to replicate extreme travel conditions, the R-GO series demonstrated durability performance exceeding the key performance benchmarks of mainstream industry standards by 200%. These evaluations covered critical performance areas including structural impact resistance, telescopic handle fatigue, and multi-terrain wheel endurance—ensuring the series meets the brand’s uncompromising quality benchmarks.

"Why NINETYGO? Because 100% is a destination, but 90 is a journey," stated a NINETYGO spokesperson. "100% implies something finished and static. We adhere to long-termism, focusing on constant innovation that evolves with the traveler. Our collaboration with Covestro allows us to achieve a seamless balance between environmental stewardship and high-performance engineering. We believe true sustainability is only achieved when eco-friendly innovation meets uncompromising durability and functionality."

Availability The production version of the NINETYGO R-GO Coffee Journey Series is expected to debut first on Amazon.com in Q4 2026, with broader global availability to follow.

For over three decades, the Group’s founding ethos of Embracing the Environment, Empowering People has been integral to how Banyan Group operates and creates value. From the restoration of an abandoned tin mine in Phuket more than three decades ago, the Group has grown into a global portfolio of 13 brands, 100 hotels and resorts, over 140 spas and galleries, and 29 branded residences across 24 countries, welcoming 4.7 million guests from 212 countries in 2025 alone.

"The significance of reaching 100 properties lies not in the number itself but in what it represents, how a founding vision has taken shape across diverse destinations and the ecosystems and communities that sustain them. Long-term business success is inseparable from the wellbeing of the destinations in which we operate, and as Banyan Group expands, sustainability must scale with the same discipline and accountability as the business itself," said Ho Kwon Ping, Founder and Executive Chairman, Banyan Group. "Sustainability is not peripheral to business performance. It is part of how long-term value is protected and created."

Collective Impact

In 2025, the Group completed its first double materiality assessment, sharpening how sustainability is defined and managed across the business. The exercise examined both the impact of operations on the environment and society, and the financial risks and opportunities these issues carry. Accordingly, the 2025 Sustainability Report is structured around clearly defined material topics, marking a shift from programme-led initiatives to an enterprise-wide approach embedded in core strategy and decision-making.

The Group’s approach to sustainable development is rooted in care, dignity and lasting partnerships with the communities in which it operates. Its proprietary Brand for Good framework unites the Group’s brands under a shared commitment to protect the planet and uplift people, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This commitment is carried further through the Banyan Global Foundation, the Group’s philanthropic and impact arm, which designs, funds and governs social and environmental programmes that extend beyond core hotel operations. Through the Green Imperative Fund and Greater Good Grants, the Foundation translates Group-level commitments into grassroots action delivered in partnership with communities, social enterprises and local organisations.

"Every property exists within a living social and ecological system shaped by its landscape, culture and people. Our role extends beyond responsible operations to ensuring that tourism contributes meaningfully to community wellbeing, cultural heritage and the long-term resilience of the places we share," said Claire Chiang, Co-Founder, Banyan Group and Chairperson, Banyan Global Foundation. "Many collaborations have stood the test of time, reflecting our belief that trust, continuity and shared value are essential to sustaining both cultural heritage and community wellbeing. In doing so, we hope to continue turning one founding vision into many more meaningful possibilities for generations to come."

In 2025, 32 associate-led Greater Good Grants projects were activated across the Group, contributing to a cumulative 2,000 direct beneficiaries supported over the past two years. These included students and teachers, women and farmers, low-income families, young people with special needs, and inmates undergoing rehabilitative skills training. Each project was chosen for its community impact, strategic alignment and proximity, and delivered within 50 km of its host property to sustain local engagement.

Embracing the Environment

A regenerative mindset and ecologically sensitive design have shaped the Group’s portfolio since its founding, and continued to guide resource efficiency and environmental progress as the business grew. In 2025, Group-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity (Scope 1 & 2) fell by 1.4% and waste generation decreased by 13% despite significant business growth, while the waste diversion rate rose to 41%, up from 28% in 2024.

Highlights from hotels opened in 2025 include:

Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay, China draws on Lingnan water town traditions, weaving flowing water channels, courtyard architecture and intangible cultural heritage such as Sanzao bamboo weaving into contemporary interiors that echo local fishing communities.

Garrya Mù Cang Chải, Vietnam follows the natural contours of terraced rice fields and bamboo forests. It uses locally sourced bamboo as its primary structural material to create the world’s largest bamboo-structured resort, minimising land disturbance and embodied carbon.

Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, Singapore the Group’s 100th property, has been recognised for its exemplary design in energy efficiency. It is the first hotel in Singapore to receive the BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (Platinum) Award, setting a new benchmark for sustainable hospitality in the market.

Empowering People

Banyan Group continued to invest in people, skills and community partnerships to create shared value. It runs programmes that improve lives through education, engagement and employment, supporting the communities that host its properties.

With close to 15,000 associates representing 95 nationalities, the Group delivered over 1.5 million training hours in 2025, including 771 on-site and online sessions and workshops through Banyan Academy. It also organised 1,318 associate wellbeing activities, which recorded 49,481 attendances and contributed to an Associate Wellbeing Index of 76.1%, up from 74% in 2024.

In 2025, Banyan Gallery commissioned over 177,000 products, supporting over 20 traditional craft communities spanning textiles, basketry, ceramics, metalwork and paper craft including Yanlipao weaving, Mooser basketry and Bencharong ceramics in Thailand, Hmong and Lao indigenous textiles, handmade paper from an 800-year-old Japanese village, and heritage indigo traditions in China.

Founded at Banyan Tree Phuket in 1996 and now present at more than 70 of the Group’s destinations and online, the Gallery has grown over nearly three decades into a social enterprise platform built on partnerships with 339 artisan groups and 240 social enterprises. Together, these partnerships have produced over 1.5 million items to date, generating stable income for artisans and preserving cultural heritage.

Shaping a Shared Future

Looking ahead, Banyan Group will continue to deepen how sustainability sits within core business decision-making, focusing on efficiency, resilience and long-term value.

Findings from the 2025 double materiality assessment shaped the Group’s inaugural Sustainability Impact Lab, which brought leaders across the organisation together to turn insights into priorities for 2026. Over 40 action areas were defined across three Impact Pathways:

Ecosystem Stewardship, to design, operate and source in ways that protect nature and manage resources responsibly.

Community Resilience, to strengthen the wellbeing, cultural vibrancy and long-term resilience of host communities.

Inclusive Prosperity, to create opportunities, through associates, guest experiences and governance foundations that build trust and resilience.

"Our inaugural Impact Lab marked a pivotal shift in how we translate ambition into execution," said Dr Mark Watson, SAVP and Group Director, Sustainability and Impact, Banyan Group. "More importantly, it demonstrated that when sustainability is embedded as a business driver rather than a standalone initiative, it accelerates innovation, strengthens operational resilience and delivers measurable value for our properties, communities and guests. The Lab has set a strong direction for deeper integration of impact into our strategy, execution and delivery and reinforces our commitment to grow with purpose through focusing on what matters most."

Near-term priorities include distilling environmental standards into a unified Group management system, embedding sustainability more deeply in the supply chain, and accelerating training and development that benefits both associates and communities. Progress against these pathways will be reported in the next Sustainability Report.

Already, travellers are starting to recognise the effects of climate change, as more swap the sun and sand for cooler weather and activities, a trend known as coolcations.

Ahead of Earth Day, new data from Trip.com Group shows a 74% year-on-year (YoY) increase in searches for cooler destinations and coolcations since the start of this year, as travellers seek to escape the heat, shifting their attention to places that offer more comfortable climates and less overcrowding experiences[1]. This figure is expected to peak further during the summer months, with a search volume growth of 237% from June to August last year compared to the same period in 2024[2].

Trip Moments, Trip.com’s community platform for travellers to share experiences and seek inspiration, has also seen a 15.4% YoY increase in content last summer that spotlights cool summer getaway destinations, as well as tips and tricks to beat the heat[3]. Topics like "escape the heat", "summer escapes" and "cool summer retreat" are trending, as travellers prioritise experiences away from the crowds and sweltering heat, amid climate change concerns.

Rising Coolcation Destinations

With climate change affecting temperatures worldwide, travellers are adapting their itineraries in favour of temperate destinations that offer a respite from the raging heat, especially during the fiery summer months.

Global flight booking searches for European destinations such as Iceland, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland and Wales are seeing significant increases this summer, compared to the same period last year, based on Trip.com Group’s data. For example, Iceland, where temperatures average 11℃ in summer, has been growing in appeal as a destination, with global flight booking searches up by 85% YoY this summer[4]. Tours to Iceland and Norway are growing in demand, as international travellers seek cold weather activities and experiences such as sea-fishing, fjord cruises and glacier hikes.

Likewise, a similar trend is observed in Asia, where cooler destinations such as Inner Mongolia, Sapporo and Yunnan, are experiencing a growing interest from international travellers. Yunnan, known for its snow-capped mountains and landscapes, is a popular tourist destination, with comfortable temperatures ranging from 23 to 25℃ during the summer months. Global flight booking searches for its largest city, Kunming, have grown by 44% YoY this summer[5], while package tours offering bundled visits to Kunming, Lijiang, Shangri-La and other scenic locations in the area are also in demand.

Seeking Climate-Friendly Experiences

Coolcations are not just about escaping the heat, but also a sign that travellers are adapting their travel plans with environmental considerations in mind. Research shows that travellers are increasingly concerned with responsible tourism, with 47% prioritising environmental protection and 38% valuing cultural heritage preservation.

This Earth Day, travellers can look at minimising their footprint and contribute to local communities using these responsible travel tips from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), such as:

SHENZHEN, China, April 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — For enterprise of thermal printers manufacturers, users scale is the ultimate validator. Shenzhen Hoin Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (HOIN) announced today that its specialized Portable Thermal Label Printer systems have successfully integrated into the infrastructure of a globally recognized telecom operator. The deployment now supports operations for a subscriber base exceeding 370 million users, marking a significant milestone as the company enters its 11th year of operation.

The breakthrough did not happen by accident. Unlike most Thermal Printer Suppliers that source standard motherboards and solutions externally, HOIN spent a decade building its hardware and firmware stack from the circuit level up.

The success centers on the HOP-HQ300, a high-performance 2-in-1 mobile Bluetooth label and receipt printer. The carrier’s service branches required a device capable of switching between receipt and label output seamlessly to handle hundreds of millions of service transactions.

The HOP-HQ300 was engineered to meet these specific demands, integrating directly into a massive mobile service network. By managing the hardware architecture internally, HOIN ensured the device could maintain stability during peak transaction periods across thousands of remote service points. This project demonstrates that the company can manage infrastructure-level deployments where equipment failure is not an option.

The 18-Year Technical Foundation
The company’s trajectory was set long before its official founding in 2015. HOIN’s three core founders began with a combined 18 years of R&D experience in thermal printing technology. That accumulated experience shaped one early decision that still defines the company: design the mold, printer head motherboards in-house, write the firmware internally, and never let a third-party component be the reason a customer has a problem.

"Reliability in a telecom environment depends on how the device handles thousands of high-frequency tasks in varied climates," said Nina Xia, one of the founders. "Control over our own hardware design ensures our Thermal Barcode Label Printer units offer the seamless integration and uptime that national infrastructure requires."

Inside HOIN’s 10,000㎡ Shenzhen Factory
To support global demand, HOIN operates a 10,000-square-meter production facility in Baoan, Shenzhen. The factory houses has its own structure and mold design workshops, firmware and software programming departments, SMT lines, production assembly lines, aging and testing lines, under one roof. For buyers evaluating Thermal Printer Suppliers, that level of vertical integration is not common at this price point.

Quality is managed through a strict Six-Step Protocol. Every Barcode Printer that leaves the assembly line must pass six distinct stages of testing, including a 100% aging test and a dedicated evaluation of thermal printhead durability before certifications such as CCC, ISO9001:2015, CE, FCC,CB, BIS, and RoHS were even pursued.

The HQ400: HOIN’s First Fully Proprietary Industrial Printer
That in-house capability recently produced its most significant output to date. HOIN has introduced the HQ400, the company’s first fully self-developed industrial-grade thermal printer, in which every core component, from the print mechanism to the main control board especially the printer head, was designed and engineered internally without reliance on third-party modules, The HQ400 marks a deliberate strategic shift: industrial-grade hardware, built entirely on proprietary architecture, is where HOIN is placing its next phase of development resources.

Evolution Across the Global Market
Since 2015, HOIN has transformed from a specialized Shenzhen workshop into a global brand serving over 50 countries. The company’s portfolio has expanded to meet the diverse needs of modern logistics and retail:

SHANGHAI, April 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As drug discovery places greater emphasis on practical execution and scalable delivery, flow chemistry is playing an increasingly important role across modern synthesis workflows. At the latest Viva Biotech’s series webinar, "AI x Flow Chemistry: From Bench to Business — Academic and Industry Perspectives," Viva Biotech brought together speakers from academia and industry to discuss how flow chemistry is reshaping synthesis, automation, and scale-up. Inviting Dr. Jie Wu of the National University of Singapore and Dr. Kejia Ding of Viva Biotech focused on how flow chemistry is evolving from a specialized technology into a practical bridge between molecular design and scalable execution.

Towards On-Demand Synthesis of Organic Molecules

Professor Jie Wu explored how automated small-molecule synthesis may move beyond isolated reaction demonstrations toward scalable multistep execution. Flow chemistry already offers clear advantages in mixing, heat and photon transfer, safety, and scale-up. Yet wider use in automated synthesis still faces familiar constraints, including solids handling, reactions that require longer residence times, and limited compatibility across multistep workflows.

To address these challenges, Professor Wu highlighted high-speed circulation flow as an enabling platform that combines features of both batch and continuous processing. The approach offers strong mixing, tolerance for solids, and better compatibility with slower transformations. Demonstrated across photochemical, gas-handling, homogeneous, and heterogeneous reactions, it points to a broader and more flexible flow toolkit for multistep synthesis.

He also emphasized that in multistep chemistry, reaction success alone is not enough. Intermediates must move cleanly from one stage to the next, with purification built into the workflow. To make that possible, he outlined two complementary approaches: a universal flow platform for target-oriented synthesis, and solid-phase automated synthesis for diversity-oriented library construction. Within the latter, Chemical Recipe Files were introduced as a way to encode optimized multistep protocols in a reproducible, machine-executable format, supporting both substrate screening and automated synthesis.

The broader implication is especially relevant to AI-enabled drug discovery. AI is expanding what can be designed, but synthesis still determines what can actually be tested. Automated multistep workflows matter because they make digitally proposed molecules more experimentally actionable within the DMTA cycle.

From Specialty Tool to Integrated Capability

From an industry perspective, Dr. Kejia Ding presented flow chemistry not as a niche technique, but as a deployable capability across medicinal chemistry, process development, and manufacturing. Within Viva Biotech’s broader chemistry platform, it supports scale-up, hazardous and gas-handling reactions, photochemistry, electrochemistry, and selected solid-phase applications.

Taken together, the case studies presented in the webinar showed how flow chemistry can create value at multiple points in the development chain.

In the photochemical synthesis of the cyclopenta[b]benzofuran scaffold, flow chemistry enabled a compact setup well suited to medicinal chemistry work. By adapting and re-optimizing a published method for its own compound series, Viva Biotech established a workflow capable of delivering more than 20 g/day of the fully formed scaffold.

In a difluoromethyl chemistry program, the company revisited the preparation of a difluoromethyl sulfonyl chloride-related reagent in response to sourcing and cost considerations. Because the route involved chlorodifluoromethane under heated conditions, flow processing provided a safer and more practical solution. Viva established a flow route to the key thioether intermediate, achieving 80 g/day of crude material before downstream conversion through more conventional chemistry.

At the manufacturing level, Langhua Pharma, a Viva Biotech subsidiary, presented a multi-step continuous-flow Curtius rearrangement carried out under demanding conditions, including sodium azide handling, gas evolution, elevated temperature, strong exothermicity, unstable intermediates, and a tight delivery timeline. Under those constraints, flow chemistry enabled a safer and more scalable development route, allowing the team to move rapidly from process development to pilot demonstration and ultimately deliver 1,000 kg within two months.

Dr. Ding also noted that even in areas with a high degree of automation, such as peptide synthesis, complex programs still require flexible integration of platforms, synthetic strategies, and expert intervention. That point reinforced a broader theme of the discussion: the future lies not in any single technology, but in how technologies are combined into workable, end-to-end systems.

Bridging AI-Driven Design and Experimental Execution

One of the clearest messages from the discussion was that AI delivers the most value when it is tightly connected to experimental systems that can make, test, refine, and scale molecules in the lab. In that sense, flow chemistry and automation are not standalone innovations, but part of a broader operating model for discovery.

Through its integrated platform approach, Viva Biotech is helping close the gap between molecular design and practical execution, linking discovery capabilities with synthesis, development, and manufacturing expertise to better support partners from early research through delivery.
