Managing a blog involves much more than writing posts and replying to comments. Every now and then, you might want to refresh your blog’s design, fix a layout bug, or add new features. If you aren’t particularly tech-savvy, this can quickly feel overwhelming – and that is completely normal!

Sending Blogger Invitation

Step 1: Open Your Blog Settings

Log in to your Blogger Dashboard and in the left-hand sidebar, click on Settings.

Step 2: Send the Author Invitation

In the Settings menu, scroll down until you reach the Permissions section. Click Invite more authors.

In the pop-up field, type in the email address of the person you want to grant access to, then click Send.

Blogger will immediately dispatch an email invitation with a confirmation link. While you wait for them to accept, their email will show under Pending author invites.

Grant access to blog

By default, new users only get basic “Author” rights (writing posts). If you hired someone to customize your template, edit code, or install widgets, they need full administrative access.

1. Once the invited person has accepted the invitation, return to your Settings > Permissions section.
2. Click on Blog admins and authors.
3. Find their email address on the list.

Click the drop-down menu next to their name, switch their role from Author to Admin, and click Save.

That’s all!

Removing blog admin

Once the design project is finished or you no longer need external help, removing access is just as straightforward:

1. Return to Settings > Permissions > Blog admins and authors.
2. Click the “X” next to that person’s name or email address.
3. Save your changes. Their access to your blog dashboard is revoked immediately.

Have you ever downloaded a gorgeous calligraphy font expecting swooping tails and elegant swashes, only to type a sentence and end up with something surprisingly plain?

You didn’t get a “broken” font. The secret lies in glyphs and alternate characters – hidden stylistic variations built into the font that don’t appear on standard keyboard keys. Here is a quick guide on how font glyphs work and how to access them in design software like Adobe Photoshop to make your typography stand out.

What You Will Need:

• Font with alternate glyphs (my favs: the Secret, Cosmopolitan, Vanilla Daisy)
• A program that supports glyphs (in this post, I will be using Photoshop)

Step-by-Step: How to Access & Insert Font Glyphs in Photoshop

In this post, I will be using a font called Vanilla Daisy. Below you can see how the words ‘Designer Blogs’ looks written out using this font and an example of using some of the glyphs included with it.

Isn’t it cool? Now let’s learn how to use glyphs and making any text fancier.

#1 Set Up Your Text Layer

Open your design file or create a blank canvas. Select the Type Tool (T), pick your script font, and type your desired text. At this stage, your lettering will display default characters.

#2 Open the Glyphs Panel

Navigate to the top menu bar and click Window > Glyphs.

If there is already a checkmark next to “Glyphs,” the panel is already open in your workspace.

#3 Locate Alternate Characters

In your workspace, click the Glyphs icon (it looks like a stylized cursive “A”).

• Look for tiny indicators: Letters in the panel with a small black triangle or square in the bottom-right corner contain multiple alternate versions.
• Filter your view: Highlight the specific letter you want to change directly on your canvas. The Glyphs panel will automatically filter to show only alternates for that letter.

The easiest way of finding options for the letter you are looking for is by clicking that letter in the Glyph tab or highlighting it in your text. After that, you can switch the Glyphs tab to show alternatives for your selected letter instead of an entire font.

#3 Swap in the Fancy Glyph

Double-click your preferred alternate or swash character in the panel. Photoshop will instantly replace the default character on your canvas.

(In modern versions of Photoshop, simply highlighting a letter will also trigger a mini pop-up menu directly underneath it displaying quick alternates).

That’s all! Now you can enhance your text using the full potential of your fonts.

Pro Tips for Better Script Typography

The other great thing about the Glyphs panel is that you can scroll through the glyphs panel to see every character available within a particular font and sometimes find some hidden nuggets that are a bonus to that font.

• Don’t over-swash: A flourish looks best on the first letter of a word, the last letter of a line, or descending characters (like g, y, j). Adding swashes to every single letter quickly makes text illegible.
• Explore the full character map: Scroll through the entire Glyphs panel when you install a new font. Type designers often hide bonus elements like decorative catchwords, heart connectors, ornaments, and dingbats at the very bottom.

Watermarks are semi-transparent images or text overlays placed on photos to protect them from unauthorized use. If you run a blog or regularly publish content online, learning how to add one is an essential skill. In this step-by-step tutorial, you will learn how to add a watermark in Canva in just a few quick steps.

What program should I use?

You can use almost any graphic design software to add a watermark. However, this tutorial uses Canva – one of the most popular free online tools available.

Canva allows you to apply watermarks to your photos completely free of charge. Thanks to its convenient mobile app, you can even watermark your images and publish them directly to social media right from your phone.

How to Add a Watermark in Canva

Before starting, make sure you have both your photo and your watermark file ready.

For this tutorial, feel free to use your own assets or download practice files here. Once your files are ready, open Canva to begin.

Step 1: Create a New Design

Log in to your Canva account and click Create in the top-right corner.

To make things easy, select the Custom size option and set the dimensions to match the exact width and height of the photo you want to watermark. Finally, click Create new design to open your canvas.

Remember that with the free version of Canva, you can’t resize an already created project. If you need it to have a different size, you will need to create a new design.

Step 2: Upload Your Files

In the new window, go to the ‘Uploads’ tab on the left and add your photos by choosing ‘upload files’ button on the top.

All uploaded files will be accessible from this place until you remove them. It means that you need to upload your watermark just once, and you can then use it for all your projects.

Step 3: Add the Photo and Watermark

Click or drag your photo from the Uploads panel into the canvas area on the right. If you want it to cover the whole area, make sure to drag it to the top before dropping it.

Now add your watermark. You can either click on in on the left upload files area or drag and drop it over your photo. Once added, move it to the desired place

Step 4: Adjust the Transparency

Watermarks are typically semi-transparent so they do not completely obscure the main image. If your watermark file is currently solid, you can easily adjust its opacity inside Canva:

1. Click to select the watermark layer.
2. Click the Transparency icon (the checkerboard grid) in the top toolbar.
3. Adjust the slider to your desired level (a setting between 25% and 50% usually works well).

Step 5: Save and Download

Once your watermark is positioned and adjusted, click the Share button in the top-right corner and select Download.

Select your preferred file format:

• JPG: Best for blog posts and website content to keep file sizes small and load times fast.
• PNG: Best for high-resolution social media posts or images requiring crisp detail.

Click Download to save the finished image to your device.

Here is how the final photo looks like. I have saved it as JPG with default Canva settings:

The very first thing every new blogger needs to master is creating a post. Blog posts are the heart and soul of your blog – they are how you share your ideas, stories, and expertise with the world.

Fortunately, Google’s platform makes the process incredibly simple. If you are brand new to the platform, this Blogger tutorial for beginners will walk you through exactly how to create, format, and publish your very first post step-by-step.

Step 1: Access Your Blogger Dashboard

To start learning how to use Blogger, log into your account at Blogger.com.

Once you are on your main dashboard, look at the left-hand menu. Make sure the Posts tab is selected, and then click the New Post button at the top left (look for the orange plus symbol +).

Step 2: Add Your Title and Content

Clicking that button opens Blogger’s clean, distraction-free post editor. Here is where you will build your content:

1. Add a Title: At the very top, you will see a field labeled Title. Give your post a catchy, clear name that tells readers exactly what the page is about.
2. Write Your Body Text: The large blank area below the title is your workspace. Type or paste your article content here.

Step 3: Format Your Text and Add Media

You don’t have to stick to plain text! The toolbar running across the top of the editor gives you all the tools you need to make your post visually appealing:

• Text Formatting: Easily change your font styles, make text bold or italic, adjust font sizes, or change text colors.
• Headings: Use the paragraph dropdown menu to organize your post into Headings and Subheadings. This keeps your text organized and makes it much easier to read.
• Links & Images: Click the chain-link icon to add hyperlinks, or the image icon to upload photos directly from your computer or Google Photos.
• Insert Jump Break: Found on the formatting toolbar, this tool is highly recommended! Inserting a jump break allows you to show just a short snippet or “excerpt” of your post on your blog’s homepage, prompting readers to click a “Read More” button to see the rest.

Step 4: Configure Your Post Settings

Before you hit publish, take a quick look at the Post Settings panel on the right side of your screen. These options are vital for organizing your blog and helping people find your content on Google:

• Labels: Think of these as categories or tags. Adding labels (like Recipes, Travel, or Blogging Tips) keeps your site organized.
• Published on: You can choose to publish the post immediately, or set a specific date and time to schedule it for later.
• Permalink: Blogger automatically generates a URL path based on your title, but you can choose “Custom Permalink” if you want to shorten it or make it more SEO-friendly.
• Search Description: Don’t skip this! Write a brief, 1–2 sentence summary of your post. This is the snippet of text that people will see when your post shows up in Google search results.

Step 5: Preview and Publish!

When you are finished writing and formatting, click the Preview button (the eye icon at the top right) to see exactly how your post will look to your readers.

If everything looks perfect, go ahead and click the orange Publish button.

Congratulations! Your new post is officially live on the internet.

The header is crooked, the fonts look weird, your sidebar is sitting way down at the bottom of the page, and your beautifully designed site looks like a jigsaw puzzle put together in the dark.

Take a deep breath! This is incredibly common and usually a quick fix. Before you lose your mind, use this simple step-by-step checklist to troubleshoot and fix your broken layout fast.

1. Clear All Caches (The Most Common Fix)
