PayPal and CyberCash
PayPal (www.paypal.com) and CyberCash (www.cybercash.com) are two electronic payment services that can help protect your financial information when you make purchases on the Internet.These services are payment systems that augment and build on the ways in which existing credit card or bank payment systems work.

When you create accounts with these services, you provide your private information, including checking account number or credit card number, only once.You don’t have to send in any payments or deposit any money with the service ahead of time, so there is no risk that you will lose deposited money—there isn’t any deposited money.

When you are ready to make an online purchase, you tell the vendor you will pay using PayPal or CyberCash by selecting this form of payment on the vendor Web site.The Web site must be set up to accept this form of payment. Once you commit to the purchase, the Web site requests PayPal or CyberCash to pay for the value of your purchase.The payment service, in turn, charges your credit card or deducts the purchase price from your checking account.Thus, you are saved from having to disclose your actual credit card number to the online vendor from which you are buying, reducing the chances that the number will be stolen during a break-in or accident.This transfers the risk of securing your credit card information from yourself and the online vendor to PayPal or CyberCash.

Electronic payment systems in general had a rocky start, due in part to some e-cash services such as Beenz and Flooz that went bankrupt. Beenz and Flooz, however, were entirely different creatures from PayPal and CyberCash.They were an entirely new form of electronic currency, not a payment system designed to transfer existing U.S. currency between buyers and sellers.With the extinct services, buyers would purchase units of e-currency called Beenz or Flooz using real currency and then use these units to make purchases at merchants who accepted the e-version. Paying with Beenz or Flooz was actually more like paying with a gift certificate than paying with cash or a credit card. Its value had to be prepaid, making these services less desirable than a payment system that used existing deposits of real currency.

American Express Private Payments
American Express offers a variant of the PayPal and CyberCash service using its own credit card authorization and payment systems. Instead of typing your American Express credit card number each time you want to make a purchase online, you instead type a Private Payment number that you obtain directly from the American Express Web site.

The Private Payment number is valid for only a few minutes, is encrypted, and is transferred to the merchant using a secure network transaction, making the risk of theft much lower than using a credit card number that could remain stored on the merchant’s Web server for a very long time.American Express then arranges for payment from your American Express account as identified using the Private Payment number.

When thinking about theft of credit cards and other forms of identification, most people think about their wallet or purse, because that’s where they physically carry their identification cards. But because your private information is also stored on your computer, you should think of your computer’s hard drive as an online “wallet” that can contain the following:
■ Computer login accounts
■ Screen names
■ Electronic commerce account numbers
■ E-mail addresses
■ Computer and domain names
■ Computer IP addresses
■ Passwords, passwords, and still more passwords

These items identify you indirectly by identifying your computer. For instance, your computer’s IP address is an identifier, assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and is unique to your computer.The login account name also assigned by your ISP is unique to you. Nobody else has the same e-mail address as you.

If one or several of these pieces of information can be matched up with an appropriate password, phone number, or your home’s street address, together they might provide sufficient evidence of your identity to fool a service provider into believing an imposter is actually you. For this reason, you need to secure the items in your “online wallet” to the same extent you would secure the items in your physical wallet.

Back in the 1970s, a common form of credit card fraud involved a thief dumpster diving for the carbon copy layer of a charge slip, on which the credit card number could easily be read.The thief subsequently used the credit card number to make a purchase from a mail order house or other merchant that didn’t require a signature or other form of identification in order to make a purchase.

In today’s online world, a thief might use a variety of computerized means to steal your credit card information. Online information theft takes two main forms.The first is a direct attack on servers that store a lot of data about people. Examples of this are computers providing Internet-based shopping services or computers used by government agencies to provide services to a large number of people. While your computer is connected to the Internet, a thief might connect to your computer’s disk remotely to retrieve the same type of data. He might engage in scanning techniques to determine the services you are running on your computer as clues to the type of software (and therefore the type of data) present on your computer. If you do business with a Web site that sends purchase confirmations to you via e-mail, a thief with the ability to read your e-mail might be able to obtain your credit card number from the confirmation; hence, the attacker might attempt to steal your e-mail password by intercepting it directly from the network as it traverses from your computer to an Internet e-mail server.

Some advice as to setting up a trading regime:
Firstly, always truly believe that you have unlimited potential to make money trading. You must believe that anything can happen in the market. Don’t have any pre-conceived ideas about what is going to happen next; you must simply take the signals as and when they come. You don’t have to know what is going to happen next in order to make money.

Never break your rules!
Get up early enough to be wide awake, dressed and have done some mental exercises mentioned in the Trading Psychology Section before you put on a trade.
Be absolutely disciplined in every aspect of your trading.
Never re-enter a botched trade. When it’s over it really is over!
Never ever try to get even.
Never hesitate to enter a trade when you have a signal.
Never enter a trade too early.
Never change your stop other than dictated by the stop.
Never ever refuse to take the loss and then let it turn into a bigger loss.
Never get out of a winning trade too soon. This often is what you want to do after you have taken a loss on a previous trade!

TRADING PSYCHOLOGY
WHY WE ALL NEED A TRADING PSYCHIATRIST

Do you sell your winners too soon? Do you ever pull your stop and let a small loss become much, much bigger? Have you wondered if you will ever be able to make money? Have you kept your losses from your partner? Have you ever entered a “kamikaze” trade to try to win back the days losses? Have you forgotten what a “winning attitude” even feels like? Many traders are alternately disillusioned, angry, frustrated, disappointed and regretful. When they are not fearful they tend to be reckless.

This section will help you to trade without letting fear or overconfidence cloud your judgement. It will teach you how to perceive what the market is offering, and how to stay completely focused and execute your trades perfectly. By following this advice you will hopefully stop making the typical trading errors that many of us are guilty of.

Most importantly it will teach you how to use the Forex Trend System without hesitation when a signal is triggered. You will learn how to act on the signals without reservation or hesitancy. You will learn how to stay in the state of mind that allows you to recognize the setups and remain calm and confident through to the exit.

This is perhaps the most important part of the system. Trading success is dependent more on the trader’s emotional state than on the strategy used, regardless of how robust it may be. Statistics show that only 5% of traders are consistently profitable and the rest are either inconsistent and unprofitable.

You can only beat these odds if you enable effective recognition and management of the emotional reactions that you will experience during trading. You cannot do this if you believe that any lack of success you are having is because you don’t have the right strategy/charting platform/stop loss etc or any one of dozens of half-baked excuses. If the system does not work for you the way it should, look inward to explain why this may be so.

The kinds of trading errors that anxiety causes are probably too numerous to be catalogued, but some of the more common ones include:

Not trusting your indicator/s
Entering a trade too late
Taking two thirds of a signal instead of the whole lot
Exiting a trade too soon
Ignoring your self-established rules or the rules of the strategy
Ignoring your money management rules
Continuing to trade even when the emotional impact of losing trades is undermining your judgment.

There are many more, but these are in all likelihood the most common ones. Take an unbiased look at what you may have done wrong and you will most likely see that anxiety/fear has had a larger impact on your trading than you may care to admit. There is an ideal mindset that traders need to attain.

Few people have the inate personality that makes this mindset “natural” with respect to trading. It involves being free of anxiety, fear, despair or regret whilst simultaneously remaining calm, confident, focused and disciplined in the face of whatever hurdles may come our way while trading.

In order to reach this ideal state of mind, one of the biggest issues to overcome is learning to accept trading losses in a productive way. No-one can be a trader without having losing trades. Not Michael Milken, not George Soros, not Gordon Ghecko! They all experienced losses, often several in a row, which is how losses tend to occur, and sometimes involving considerable amounts of money.

Losses can make it difficult to see beyond short term adversity. It is easy for trading losses to assume a much greater emotional significance for the trader than is
justified by the trade. You must learn to regard a trading loss as a business expense which won’t effect the overall success of your trading. If you do this it will be easier to start the trading day with confidence, evaluate trading risk from an objective standpoint, exit losing trades without bias
or hesitation and focus on trading well rather than making or losing money.

Your paper trading must be realistic. You should detail each trade as it occurs, win or lose. At the close of the trading session you should review your trading and be brutally honest about your findings. You should do this every day until you trade perfectly for at least a month. If you can do this successfully then you have already taken the first big stride on the road to being a profitable trader.

Next, start phase 2 of paper trading and introduce a larger dose of reality. This should involve some money, of which the amount of money at risk should sting if lost, but still be “affordable.” Give any money you lose to a charitable concern, or to a person to whom you don’t want to admit failure.

Really commit to this process so that you can’t back out. This means that before you start this phase of your paper trading you need to tell whoever is the nominated person your results and have them be in a position to audit them. If you have set this up successfully, this paper trading step should start to produce some of the emotions you will experience when you are trading “live”.

This next step is crucial. You must be able to honestly identify what these emotions are, when they occur, and how they affect your trading. Write them down as they occur, whatever they may be. Note the time the emotion initially made itself felt, the duration, and the resolution. At sessions end, review your trades and note how, if at all, the observed emotions modified in any way what may or would have otherwise been an ideal trading day from the system standpoint. You must not rationalize or minimize either the emotions felt or their effect/s on your trading, as hard as this may be on your ego.

If you are unable or unwilling to do this it will make things very difficult for your trading career! After a few weeks a pattern should emerge of how and when your emotional reactions may be undermining your trading efficiency. If this is not the case then you probably need to increase the amount of money and pride that is at stake. There has to be a reasonable amount of emotional response to your paper trading in order for this to work. This is practice and is therefore the best place to make mistakes so that they can be rectified, so don’t be too hard on yourself if mistakes are made!

Before you start the trading day you should be in the best possible state of mind - you should take 15 to 20 minutes to get yourself to this state. Here is one method that can help:

Find a comfortable sitting position and close your eyes.
Inhale and exhale slowly, pushing your stomach out with each exhalation.
Make a conscious effort to relax all your muscles.
Focus all your attention on your breathing.
If your mind starts to wander try to re-focus on your breathing and eliminate from your consciousness whatever was occupying it.
Become aware of being exclusively in the “now.” Exclude all thoughts about the past events or the future.
Do this until your restless mind settles down and you enter a peaceful, relaxed state. It can take 15 to 20 minutes, longer for some people.

Now visualize your day. In this relaxed state, rehearse mentally how you will handle the adverse conditions that may have generated emotional negativity (anxiety, fear, frustration, anger etc.) during your previous practice trading sessions. If these reappear while you are visualizing, stop! Start deep breathing as before – staying focussed and determining to be in the “now.” Do this for a dozen breaths until the relaxed state has been re-entered. Restart your visualization of the trading day. Before you start real trading you must be able to comfortably deal with all emotions connected to your paper trading. Don’t expect first time success – it may take motivation and practice to work, and on-going practice to keep it working.

Under live conditions there will be stressful days where things have not gone right, irrespective of how well you may have traded. It is easy to let negative thoughts and/or emotions accumulate and affect the next day’s trading and even overcome your pre-trading relaxation efforts. You need to get rid of the day’s trading stress the same day:

After you have analysed the day’s trading, identified your mistakes and successes, with everything documented, find a comfortable spot and start to visualize the nicest scene that you can. Bring all your senses to bear: sound (birdsong, summer rain), smell (a favourite meal cooking, freshly cut hay), taste (that same meal, your favourite tipple), touch (a lovers caress, soft silk) etc. Your body will react to the imagery as if it were real.

Now, whilst breathing deeply and intently focusing on the imagery, start slowly and methodically relaxing your muscles – starting at the bottom and ending at the top. It is more efficient if you initially tense each muscle group as tightly as possible for ten seconds and then make a conscious effort to relax it.

Upon completion, linger in your relaxing image (focussing on your breathing to keep an uncluttered mind) for as long as you want but for at least 10 or 15 minutes. Afterwards go and do something entirely different. Perhaps some exercise, read a novel, play with your children, spend some time with the family pets - as long as it occupies you so that you are not thinking about trading.

Money Management

Let’s try and make this as simple as possible.
Our hard and fast rule is to NEVER risk more than 1% - 3% of our available equity at any one time. That doesn't mean in any one trade, it means at any one time! In this case we are referring to risk as the amount that would be lost if our stop-losses were hit.

For simplicity's sake, let's assume we have a starting capital of $10 000. If we decide to risk 1% of our starting capital on a trade that means we are effectively risking $100. If we decide to risk 3%, our upper limit, then we are effectively risking $300.

Say we are trading mini lots where one pip = $1. If we decide to trade using the 3% rule then we have $300 dollars to risk at any one time. We decide to risk 1/3 of our 3% on a single trade. i.e. We are willing to risk $100 on this trade. Using the system we always enter with 3 lots, so we need to divide $100 by 3 to get $33 risk per lot, i.e. our stop-loss can be no more than 33 pips away from our entry point, including spread.

Let’s use an example:
We go long on the GBP/USD, buying 3 lots @ 1.9950. The spread at your broker for this currency pair is 3 pips, so our entry point is 1.9947. Our maximum stop distance, using the 3% rule would be 33 pips away from our entry point per lot, 1.9950 – 33 pips, is 1.9917 for all three lots.

We still have $9 900 equity available no matter what happens to this trade. It is illuminating to consider what the consequences are if you decide not to follow this rule and risk more equity per trade. Let's say you decide to risk 10% per trade. You now have $1000 dollars available to risk at any one time. Perhaps you have a bad run of luck and lose five trades in a row – you risked and lost $1000 per trade five times = $5000 lost out of a starting capital of $10 000.

You've now lost 50% of your available equity in five trades, another five like that and you have lost everything you started with! Risking 10% of your starting capital will result in a $0 account balance if you lose ten trades in a row! Let’s look at what happens if we use the 1% rule. You risk 1% of your available capital and lose five trades in a row. You have lost $500 out of starting capital of $10 000, but you still have $9500 left, 95% of your starting capital.

This is one of the major differences between the 95% of people that try and fail to make a success of forex trading, and the 5% that do! Don’t be one of the 95% that risk 10%, be one of the 5% that risk 1 – 3%! This is one of the major deciding factors between success and failure in Forex Trading.

What we must now remember is that whatever you decide to risk, 1 – 3%, you can only risk this amount at ANY ONE TIME, not just on any one trade. So in the example above you are risking 1% of your equity on the GBP/USD trade and have a further 2 % to risk on other trades at the same time.

You CANNOT risk 3 % per trade and have 3 trades running at the same time, you would then actually be risking 9% of your capital! We risked $100 out of $10 000 on the GBP/USD trade and still have a further 2/3 of our 3% to risk on other trades, i.e. we still have $200 dollars which we can risk to enter a further trade/s.

If we were unlucky and all 3% was lost, i.e. $300 dollars was lost, we would be down to $9 700 and further risk would be determined by dividing our new amount of available equity, $9 700 by 3%, and so on. Conversely, when we profit from a trade, say a trade earns us $100, we can add that to our equity and calculate the amount we have to risk from this new total.

Forex Tranding: Price Adjustments

A Forex Dealer Member is prohibited from directly or indirectly canceling or adjusting the price of executed customer orders, with two exceptions.

The first exception is where the adjustment is done to settle a customer complaint in the favor of the customer. A Forex Dealer Member may also adjust orders even in the absence of individual customer complaints if the customer were adversely affected by a technical problem with the Member's trading platform. However, a Forex Dealer Member may not adjust prices on customer orders that benefitted from the error and may not cherry-pick which account to adjust.

The second exception is where the Member uses exclusively "straightthrough processing" such that the Member automatically (without human intervention and without exception) enters into an offsetting position in its name with another counterparty and that counterparty cancels or adjusts the price at which the position was executed.
A Forex Dealer Member that adjusts an executed customer order based on an adjustment by a counterparty must provide notice to the affected customer within fifteen minutes of the customer order having been executed.

The notice must state that the Member intends to cancel or adjust the price of the order to reflect the adjusted price provided by the Forex Dealer Member's counterparty and must include documentation of the cancelation or price adjustment from the counterparty.

The Member must either cancel or adjust all customer orders executed during the same time period and in the same currency pair or option regardless of whether they were buy or sell orders. All cancellations or adjustments of executed customer orders must be reviewed and approved in writing by a listed principal of the Member who is also an associated person.

Such review must include the documentation from the counterparty and must be provided to NFA. Finally, any Member that may elect to cancel or adjust executed customer orders based upon liquidity provider price changes must provide customers with written notice of that fact prior to the time the customer first engage in forex transactions with the Forex Dealer Member.

Each Member must maintain books and records necessary to conduct their business, and Forex Dealer Members must provide customers with timely and accurate notice of the status of their accounts.

Speaking at The Hotel Show in Dubai, Bani Haddad, regional vice-president for development at the Wyndham Group - whose brands include Ramada and Travelodge - said high-end hotels at last year’s South Africa World Cup were a letdown.

“One thing that was a lesson learned from the South African experience is that the prices of their rooms were so high during the World Cup that people traded down and went and spent their money in budget hotels,” he said.

Qatar told World Cup organiser FIFA it will have 90,000 rooms by 2022 - twice its current stock. But Haddad said the intimidating target figure included the renovation of existing buildings and temporarily-berthed cruise ships and that many rooms used to house visitors for the tournament would later be converted into residential housing.

The latter move may ease fears of hotels lying empty once the final ball is kicked. Earlier this month a regional executive at hotel giant Starwood told the firm was cautious about major investment in World Cup hotels after South Africa’s post-tournament market “went off a cliff”.

But Darrell Sheaffer, of Qatar’s Hospitality Development Company, said the focus on theWorld Cup risked obscuring Qatar’s wider growth, as state infrastructure spending hits $140 billion. “People in the financial community, the thing they like least is uncertainty. And the World Cup provides certainty now that [government] initiatives for 2030 will actually happen,” he said at the dmg events show.

Earlier this week Citigroup’s chief economist for the Middle East said Qatar would not benefit financially from hosting the World Cup. “I would not say, from a cost-benefit analysis, the World Cup is going to be net beneficial to Qatar,” Farouk Soussa said.
