7-Eleven

1. Log in the PayMaya app.

2. Select the “Add Money” icon on the home screen.

3. Select the 7-Eleven banner.

4. Input the amount you want to load up and select “Continue”.

5. Go to a 7-Eleven branch and present the generated barcode to the cashier.

6. Present your payment to the cashier.

7. Wait for an SMS confirmation before leaving the store.

*Minimum load up amount is Php100.

Robinsons Business Center

1. Go to the Robinsons Business Center area inside Robinsons Department Store and approach the cashier to inform that you want to load up PayMaya.

2. Fill out the transaction form and provide the recipient PayMaya mobile number and desired load amount.

3. Present a valid ID (student ID is also accepted) along with your payment.

4. Wait for an SMS confirmation before leaving the store.

*Minimum load up amount is Php100.

SM Business Services

1. Go to the SM Business Services section inside the SM Department Store and approach the cashier to inform that you want to load up PayMaya.

Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop

1. Go to the Cebuana Lhuillier branch and fill out a Remittance Payout Form (RPF).

2. Indicate the recipient PayMaya mobile number and desired load amount.

3. Submit the RPF along with your payment to the cashier.

4. Wait for an SMS confirmation before leaving the store.

SMART Money

1. For Smart Money account holders transferring money to PayMaya, go to Smart Money SIM Menu and select “transfer”.

2. Select “others”.

3. Enter 8877+mobile number of the PayMaya load up recipient
(e.g. 88779181234567)

4. Enter the amount, your WPIN, then click SEND.

*There is a 0.5% charge for every successful Smart Money to PayMaya transactions.

Over 15,000 branches nationwide.

1. You can load up your PayMaya at selected SMART Padala Centers. Approach the cashier and inform that you want to load up PayMaya.

2. Fill out the transaction form and provide the recipient mobile number and amount of load.

3. Present a valid ID (student ID is also accepted) along with your payment.

4. Wait for an SMS confirmation before leaving the store.

*There is a 0.5% charge for consumers who make Smart Padala to PayMaya transactions.

1. Find an outlet with a POS!BLE.NET logo and inform the cashier that you want to load up your PayMaya.

2. Identify your PayMaya mobile number and load amount

3. Present your payment to the cashier.

UnionBank via ATM

1. Insert your UnionBank ATM card and choose “bills payment”.

2. Choose the account number where the load will be sourced and then select “PayMaya”.

3. Enter the PayMaya mobile number you want to load up and the amount of load desired.

4. Once load up is successful, a transaction receipt will be printed out.

Load-ups will be credited to the PayMaya account within 2 hours.

UnionBank via Online Banking

1. Log on to your UnionBank eBanking account

2. Choose “bills payment”

3. On the “biller name” field, choose “PayMaya”.

4. Enter the amount you want to load up and choose the account number where the load will be sourced.

5. On the “biller’s reference number” field, enter the PayMaya mobile number you want to load up then click PAY. PayMaya mobile number format should be 63XXXXXXXXXX

6. Once load up is successful, an online payment confirmation will appear on your screen.

Load-ups will be credited to the PayMaya account within 2 hours.

*Minimum load up amount is Php500.

UnionBank via Internet Banking

1. Log on your UnionBank account and Choose “transact” then “pay bills”.

2. Choose industry of biller then select “biller name”.

3. On the “biller’s reference” field, enter the PayMaya mobile number you want to load then enter the amount to be loaded. PayMaya mobile number format should be 63XXXXXXXXXX.

4. Choose the account number where the load will be sourced then click “submit”.

5. An SMS confirmation will be sent to your mobile number once load up is successful.

Load-ups will be credited to the PayMaya account within 2 hours.

1. Inform the cashier that you want to load up your PayMaya with your desired amount.

4. Enter Transaction Password - this will only be requested from users who were successfully logged in to RCBC Online Banking by answering a security question. Review the details you have entered. If there are any incorrect details, you can click “Back” to edit.

5. Click “Submit”. Once load up is successful, an online payment confirmation will appear on your screen.

How To Calibrate Android Battery Properly

Recalibrating your software battery meter will only take you 4 easy steps, though it takes a bit of time. Proceed at your own risk.

1. Use your phone until the battery dies. Play games, watch videos, do any heavy task usage to drain your battery. Wait until the screen turns off completely.

2. Turn on your phone again. It will likely shut down again before it finishes booting, but the battery isn't completely dead yet.

(Repeat this process several times. Power it on, let it keep trying to boot up, then let it die. Eventually, the phone won't even try to boot up anymore, you won't even see the boot logo or splash screen. At this point, you can stop powering the phone back on.)

3. Without turning your phone on, plug it into a charger. Let it sit there plugged in and turned off for at least 6 hours (this may change depending on your battery capacity, if you know it). The goal here is to charge it to 100% capacity without turning the phone on.

4. Once you're positive that your battery is fully charged, go ahead and turn your phone back on. Resume your normal usage and normal charging habits.

You can do battery calibration once a month, because overdoing it might damage your battery. But, if your phone is not experiencing such issues, battery calibration is not recommended.

Share a Printer from XP to Windows 7/8/10

One common problem I have run into with clients is trying to share a printer connected to a Windows XP machine with Windows 7/8/10. There are lots of people out there that have USB connected printers attached to one computer, sometimes even a Windows XP machine.

If you get a new laptop running Windows 7/8/10, it makes sense to share that printer so that any computer can print to it. Unfortunately, trying to print to a shared printer on XP from Windows 7/8/10 is not as simple as it should be!

In this article I will walk you through the steps for XP to Windows 7/8/10 printer sharing. I am assuming your printer is directly attached to a Windows XP machine and you want to print from a Windows 7/8/10 machine.

Setup Printer Sharing

Step 1: First make sure that the printer on the XP machine is shared. You can do this by right-clicking on the printer and choosing Sharing.

Click the Share this printer radio button and give your printer a share name. Make sure is less than 8 characters and does not contain any symbols.

Step 2: Make sure you can see the printer share from the network browsing area in Windows 7/8/10. You can do this by going to Control Panel and clicking on Network and Internet.

Then click on View network computers and devices under Network and Sharing Center.

At this point, you should see the name of your XP computer in the list of computers. My XP machine is called Aseem.

Double-click on the computer name and you should see your shared printer in the list. Here you can try to add the printer by right-clicking on it and choosing Connect.

If everything goes perfectly, Windows 7/8/10 should automatically add the printer to your set of printers. However, if you get a message like “Cannot connect to printer”, follow the next steps.

Step 3: Click on Start and then click on Devices and Printers. At the top, click on the Add a printer link.

Step 4: Next choose Add a local printer. Yes, that sounds counter-intuitive, but this is what you have to do!

Step 5: Next, click Create a new port and choose Local port from the list of options.

Step 6: Click Next and in the Port name box, type in the path to the shared printer. It should be something like \\Aseem\HPXP, where Aseem is the name of your XP machine and HPXP is the shared name of the printer.

Step 7: Now choose the printer driver from the list or download the latest driver for the printer and choose Have Disk. Note that if you printer is a little older, it’s a good idea to download the Windows 7/8/10 driver for the printer and before clicking Have Disk.

That’s it! Windows 7/8/10 will load the driver and you’ll be able to print to the XP machine from Windows 7/8/10! The main things to remember are sharing the XP printer and downloading the latest driver for the printer on the Windows 7/8/10 machine.

How to Check if Your VPN Connection is Actually Encrypted

Verify Encryption on a Mac

Firstly, go ahead and download CocoaPacketAnalyzer on your Mac and run it. You should see the startup screen with four large buttons.

Capturing is what you’ll click on to start a capture of network traffic. If you save a capture session, it’s called a trace file and you can open those again later on using the second button. However, for our purposes, we just want to see the data is encrypted and won’t really be saving any of these captures.

Before we perform a capture, go ahead and click on Preferences to set up how we are going to capture the data. Click on Capture at the top and the only setting we need to check here is Capture Interface.

First, be sure to press the little Refresh button that is located to the right of the list box. When you click on the box, you’ll see a couple of options, all of which look confusing as heck. The only ones you’ll need to choose from are the ones that have IPv4 listed with some numbers after it. You don’t need to pick the one that has 127.0.0.1. You’ll want to pick the one that has the IP address for the connection you’re currently using. You can figure this out by going to System Preferences and then clicking on Network.

Click on the connection that has the green dot in the list box on the left and then check the IP address field on the right-hand section. As you can see, it says 192.168.1.x, so that matches the en0 – IP4 – 192.168.1.68 option in the dropdown list in the program. Now go ahead and close the Capture Preferences window to get back to the main screen.

Go ahead and click on Capturing and you’ll now see a new dialog pop up where you can pick a few settings and then start the capture.

Here you don’t need to change anything for our purposes, so to get start you just need to press Start. Before you do, however, there are some things to note. Firstly, you should try to close all program and taskbar programs running and only keep your browser window open. Network captures record tons of data and even a few seconds will result in more than a thousands rows of data. So to keep it simple, close everything and kill as many background processes as possible first, then click Start.

After doing that, immediately load one or two sites and then click Stop. You only want to capture for a few seconds and nothing more. It might even be a good idea to have the web addresses already typed into tabs in your browser and then you can just press Enter to load the pages once you start the capture.

Once you press Stop, you will see a window that looks like this:

Now this may look like absolute gibberish, but that’s fine. All you need to do is scroll through the list at the top, which is in table format and look at the data you see in the box in the lower right, which I highlighted above. Now since there are probably thousands of rows, you can just keep pressing the down arrow key fast and looking at the data change at the bottom.

If your VPN connection is actually encrypted, every line you scroll through should show data that looks like the data in the above image. Since it’s unreadable and just a bunch of random characters, it’s encrypted. With an encrypted connection, nothing should be readable for any row in all those thousands of rows. Now let me show you what you’ll see on an unencrypted connection, such as when you’re not connected to a VPN:

As you can see above, I can read a whole lot more stuff now that there is no encryption. I see I visited aseemkishore.com using a Mac and Safari and lots of other data. Not every packet will be this readable on an unencrypted connection, but for most packets you’ll be able to see the actual data, HTML code, protocol headers, etc. As I mentioned before, on an encrypted connection, not even a single packet will be understandable.

Verify Encryption on a PC

The process for checking on a PC is pretty much the same as I have shown above, except that you are using a different program called Wireshark. Once you download it, start it up and the home screen should look like this:

Like on the Mac, the first thing you’ll need to do is pick the interface (network interface) that you want to capture the data for. Click on Interface List and you’ll see the list of network interfaces. I like Wireshark a little better in that you can actually see how much data is being transferred on each interface, which makes it easy to see which one is the primary connection.

Go ahead and check the box next to the appropriate interface and then click Close. Now all you have to do is click on the Start button (below the Interface List button) and you’ll be good to go. You don’t have to change any other options or anything else for our purposes. Once you complete a capture, you should see an screen like this:

You may have to expand the window full-screen and then adjust the bottom and top panes accordingly, but as you can see the data is in the exact same format as CocoaPacketAnalyzer on the Mac. Scroll through the list at the top and make sure that data section is complete gibberish, which means your connection is encrypted. If you’re able to read any words or text, it means the data is not being encrypted. Make sure you browse through at least a couple of hundred rows quickly using the arrow keys.

Hopefully this post will put your mind at ease once you know your VPN connection is actually securely encrypted!

How to Stream to Facebook Live

Facebook added Live Streams to their Facebook Pages. So if you own a page you can from now on start streaming on Facebook. (It might not be unlocked for everyone right away. And you might need to have a certain number of likes. I could not find exact info about this.)
There are a few limitations though (see here or read on) and as mentioned, you need a Facebook PAGE:

Video Resolution: maximum 720p (1280 x 720) resolution, at 30 frames per second.
Key-Frame Interval of 1 every 2 seconds
Max bit rate 4000Kbps
240 minute maximum length except for continuous streams

To start a stream you can click on "Live Video" up top on the Facebook page, or if you have a Page you want to Livestream on you can click on "Live" in the right sidebar:

The background will turn dark and a popup will appear that might try to use your webcam right away if you have one connected to your computer. If not you will see this picture:

Click on "Connect" as marked in red. Now we are presented with the information we need for our streaming software:

Copy the Streamkey and paste it into the Streamkey section in the settings of OBS:

Important: The Stream Key can only be used for a single Live preview/post connection. You must use the same URL and key to preview and post. That is, you cannot preview, stop the stream, and then resume at a later time. The URL and Key also expire 24 hours after creation.

Make sure all your settings (Audio especially) are ready. Scenes and sources configuration should be done before you start going live. If you accidentally stop your stream you will need to create a new live video and copy over the new stream key into the OBS settings. When ready, start streaming in OBS. The stream will only be visible to you on the Facebook Page until you click on "Go Live".
After a few seconds you should see the following message:

You can enter a Post message, give the Video a title, add tags and even tag people before going live. And you can also start the Stream in your Software and it should appear in the Popup Window:

There are some more options available in the settings, like allow embedding, activate continuous video or automatic unpublishing after the video ended.

After you entered everything and if your stream is online, the "Go Live" button will be blue as you can see in this example, which means you are now ready to go live. Click on "Go Live" to do so or click on Schedule to setup a starting time. If you go Live the Page will change to a preview of your Livestream. (See the red timer in the top left). Make sure to mute the preview so there is no looping audio:

You can also see comments here and of course comment yourself. After you are done with your Stream you can click on "Finish" to stop being Live on Facebook. The video will be saved and should soon appear in your Video Library of your Facebook Page:

That's about it. You can now stream your content to Facebook and publish it on your Facebook Page. Remember, the next time you start a Facebook stream you have to update your Stream Key.

Create a Windows 10 System Image Backup

Windows 10 is probably the most stable and usable OS Microsoft has released since Windows 7. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t run into serious issues at some point. I always make sure I create a full system image of my Windows 10 PC every several months.

When you create a system image, you can restore the entire OS back to the same hard drive or a new one and it will include all your installed programs, settings, etc. Even though Windows 10 is a nice improvement over Windows 7, it still uses the same image creation option from Windows 7! Windows 10 has a new feature called Reset this PC, but it’s not as versatile as a system image backup.

You can choose to either keep your personal files or remove everything, but in both cases, you lose all your programs and apps. In addition, this is assuming the current hard drive is still working properly. If the drive fails completely, you’re out of luck because you won’t be able to access the Reset this PC feature.

It’s always a nice option to have, but you should have a full system image that you can restore regardless of the state of Windows or your hard drive.

Create Windows 10 System Image

A lot of people like to use third-party software for this endeavor and it’s completely understandable. I’ve actually written an article on five free disk imaging utilities that do a great job. These third-party programs tend to have more options than the built-in Windows tool.

I personally create multiple system images using different tools because I have found that sometimes problems can arise for various reasons when trying to restore a backup. Now on to creating the system image! First, open up Control Panel in Windows 10. As of now, if you go to backup in the Settings app, it just links to the Control Panel option.

Click on Backup and Restore (Windows 7). Make sure to change the view to Small or Large icons in order to see the list of items.

Now there are two ways you can go about creating a backup here. You can either click on the Create a system image link on the left and do a one-time backup of the entire system or you can click on Set up backup at the far right (not shown in image), which will create a system image and perform a scheduled backup of important files on your computer.

I suggest using the Set up backup option as that will allow you to restore individual files in case of accidental deletion. However, you should only do it if the backup location is on a separate disk on your computer. There is no point in backing up to a different partition on the same hard disk. I only do a system image because all of my files are stored in the cloud anyway, so it depends on your situation.

If you click on Create a system image, you’ll be asked where you want to save the backup image. There are three options: on a hard disk, on one or more DVDs or on a network location. In my case, I chose another disk that is installed on my system.

Next, you’ll have to select which drives you want to backup. By default, Windows will select the system partition, recovery partition and EFI system partition. You can add any additional drives if you like.

At the bottom it will tell you how much space is required for the backups and how much space is available on the target disk. Finally, you’ll see a summary and can start the backup by clicking Start Backup.

The backup process will take some time depending on how much data needs to be backed up and how fast your target disk is.

Once the backup is complete, you will be asked if you want to create a system repair disc. I highly recommend that you do this immediately as you’ll need it in order to restore the PC in case something goes wrong.

You can always create it later, but it’s taking a risk. Once you have created the backup, you won’t see any indication of it in the backup and restore dialog because it’s just a system image. However, if you go to the backup location, you will see a folder called WindowsImageBackup.

Note that you cannot access the contents of this folder or even check the size, etc. It’s owned by the system and cannot be read or accessed by any user, even the Administrator. Now that you have one backup of your system, make sure to create another using a different tool just to be safe. Enjoy!

5 Free Disk Imaging/Cloning Utilities for Windows

Creating a good backup of your computer system involves not only backing up all of your data, but also backing up all Windows and system files when they are in a working and stable state. When a hard drive crashes or the Windows operating system becomes corrupt, it would be preferable to not only be able to load back your data quickly, but also to load back the entire OS with all of your user settings, bookmarks, installed drivers, installed applications, and more.

A good way to have both things taken care of at once is to create an image of your hard drive. By creating an image, your entire system state, including the OS and data files, is captured like a snapshot and can be reloaded at any time. It’s the best way to protect your data and is the fastest solution also. However, it’s not necessarily the easiest solution since most imaging programs require a bit of trial and error when performing a restore.

In this article, I’ll mention a couple of my favorite freeware programs for cloning a hard drive. You’ll find a lot of paid solutions also like Acronis, which make the process easier, but can cost a good chunk of change. If you hate computers and want the simplest process possible, then go for commercial software. Otherwise, read on for some great freeware apps for cloning your hard drive.

Paragon Backup & Recovery

Paragon Backup & Recovery is one of my favorite tools for backing up and restoring hard drives at home. It has a slew of features and is very reliable. It’s been around for a very long time and therefore the software is polished and works perfectly on all versions of Windows from Windows 2000 to Windows 8.1 32-bit or 64-bit. Here’s a list of features that make Paragon one of the best freeware utilities in this category.

– Complete disk backup including GPT disks

– Differential backups so that you can create one full image and then save space on future backups. I believe Paragon is the only freeware one I mention here that supports differential backups.

– Unique backup capsule feature that lets you store the backup on a local hard disk in a hidden partition for easy recovery if they active partition fails

– Linux and WinPE bootable recovery media options

– Restore an entire image or only certain files and folders from an image

The only annoying thing about the program is that it includes all the features from the commercial version too and when you try to use one of them, it will try to upsell you the paid version of the program. It’s not a major nuisance, but it’s slightly annoying. I would rather they just strip it down to the bare minimum and if I like the program, I might be interested in purchasing the more feature-full version.

The free version can still do a lot of other stuff too like create, delete, and formats partitions, hide/unhide partitions, and mark partitions as active.

DriveImage XML

DriveImage XML is a completely free data recovery program that you can use to create images and backups of logical drives and Windows partitions. Here are a couple of the major features of this program:

– Quickly backup logical drives and Windows partitions to image files without having to restart Windows (you can remain logged in)

– Easily browse, view or extract files from the images

– Restore the images to the same drive or to a different drive

– Copy data directly from drive to drive

– Schedule automatic backups and image creations with Task Scheduler

– Run the program from the Live CD or from the WinPE boot CD-ROM

The nice thing about DriveImage XML is that it uses Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Service (VSS), which means you can create hot images of hard drives that are in use. It supports Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The one thing to remember though when restoring an image is that the partition you are restoring to needs to be of the same size or larger. You cannot restore to a smaller partition size than the original. Also, DriveImage XML does not perform incremental backups after the first backup image, so you’ll either have to have a lot of space or you will have to delete older backups.

Macrium Reflect Free

Macrium Reflect Free is another popular free utility for disk imaging or disk cloning. In terms of design, the GUI for Macrium is much better than Drive Image XML. It’s clean and looks more modern. The layout is also easier to navigate and understand.

You can clone a disk or image a disk. Cloning is better if you want to move everything on one disk to another hard disk, i.e. a larger disk. Imaging a disk can be scheduled whereas cloning has to be done manually. You can then restore the images to the same hard drive, a replacement hard drive or even to a new computer, though the last option will require a paid version of Macrium to restore to the new hardware.

Macrium also has a Linux rescue CD and Windows PE rescue CD that can be used to restore an image to a new hard drive. The restore process is fairly straightforward and if you get confused anywhere, they have tutorials for creating images, restoring images, troubleshooting problems, etc. in the knowledgebase. It’s a good program for a novice user.

EaseUS Todo Backup Free

EaseUS creates a lot of different products and one of the best is Todo Backup. Again, like Paragon, they want to upsell you to their paid versions, but the free version worked just fine for me when performing a backup and restore.

It’s got a simple clean interface and is a little better than Paragon when it comes to upselling. It just have a little bar at the bottom of the window that say “Upgrade Now to get a more powerful edition”.

Using the free version, you can only recover to the same disk or a new disk on the same machine. If you want to recover to new hardware, then you’ll have to purchase their paid software just like Paragon and Macrium do. Feature-wise, it’s closest to Paragon in terms of what it supports. You can restore using their WinPE bootable media and it works as expected.

I also found EaseUS Todo backup to be very easy to use, especially when following their online guides. Overall, it’s a great choice for a novice user.

CloneZilla

If you’re more of an advanced user, then CloneZilla may be the right choice for you. Clonezilla is basically a live CD that you boot from and then work with from there. Unlike other programs, it doesn’t have an executable file that you can run inside Windows. That right there will be reason enough for most people to choose something else.

However, if you’re familiar with the DOS environment and really want the most customization options for creating your backup or disk image, then CloneZilla has you covered. Here’s an abbreviated list of features:

– Supports a large range of file systems including ext2, ext3, ext4, xfs, jfs, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, UFS, VMFS3, VMFS5 and minix

– Both MBR and GPT formatted hard drives supported

– Image file can be stored locally or on an NFS server, Samba server, or SSH server.

Performing a clone and restore in CloneZilla was a bit more work than I had expected and it certainly had many pitfalls for novice users. Thankfully, they have some documentation with step by step instructions for performing common operations. Again, this is a great tool for advanced users only.

Although they’ve been out for more than a decade now, Intel’s Core lineup, Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 processors, still feels relatively young. Here, we will review the processors, explain the technologies behind them, look at Intel’s philosophy, and help you decide which processor to buy.

Rather than taking the traditional processor comparison route by showing you a bunch of benchmarks, game performance specs, etc., this review will focus on explaining the “core” of Intel’s core CPU lineup, which also includes the new Core i9 family.

Although benchmarks are useful for hardcore gamers, they are pretty much useless for the average computer user. This guide should help you pick out a computer, with a good processor for your needs, without having to know what “3DMark” is.

The first thing you may be wondering is if is now a good time to buy a PC with an Intel Core processor? It’s a bit disheartening for anyone to go buy something and find out the next day that the company just released a better model.

The answer is pretty much always yes, now would be a good time to get a computer with a Core series processor. Processors and Intel have a history of keeping product lines around for several years. Just look at their Core 2 Duo lineup as an example.

Core 2 Duo processors first made their debut in mid-2006. Those processors were still being put out by manufactures in new systems till 2010. Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 processors have been around since 2008 and aren’t going anywhere. Also, in 2016 Intel has switched from the traditional tick-tock update cycle to the much slower three step process, architecture and optimization cycle.

Previously, every tock would be a major upgrade in terms of speed, efficiency and manufacturing. However, that has proved to be too hard now. The new cycle adds improvements and only every few years will we see major upgrades like going from 14nm to 10nm chips, etc.

Intel gives each new update to its microprocessor architecture a codename. You’ve probably heard names like Broadwell, Haswell, Skylake, Skylake-X, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake. Wikipedia has a nice table here with all of the codenames and release dates. Basically, for the consumer, don’t worry about the next generation chip because it shouldn’t be that big of an upgrade from the current ones on the market.

So, which processor should you buy? The latest Skylake-X i9-7980XE with 18 cores and 36 threads or a simple Coffee Lake i3-8350K with 4 cores and one-tenth the cost of the i9? Well, it all depends on your needs and budget. First, let’s take a look at each brand of processors.

Core i3

We’ll start at the bottom and work our way up. Core i3 is Intel’s latest budget processor. Even though the Core i3 is the lowest of the bunch, it’s still a very good processor that has received good to outstanding reviews by the majority of experts and customers alike.

The technology behind Core i3 processors includes dual core base, hyper threading support, and virtualization. Core i3 processors do support 64-bit versions of Windows. By taking advantage of Intel’s new chipset and 14nm technology, Core i3’s perform very well for most of today’s computing tasks.

In addition, this year is the first year that a Core i3 processor (Coffee Lake) will have 4 cores instead of 2. Each core is basically like its own processor and the more cores you have, the more tasks a computer can do simultaneously.

The other big difference between Core i3 and the higher versions is that Core i3 does not support turbo boost. Turbo boost is the ability to overclock the processor beyond its base clock speed. Also, the latest Coffee Lake i3 processors have dropped hyper-threading.

Should you buy a computer with a Core i3 processor? It depends. If you use your computer for basic tasks such as word processing, email, surfing the web, watching video, etc., a quad-core i3 processor is more than enough to handle all of that with ease. A Core i3 processor is a solid, affordable choice for most people.

Core i5

Core i5 is the latest “mid-range” processor by Intel. A step up from the Core i3, i5 processors will give you a noticeable difference in speed, depending on the type of applications that you run. If you are playing solitaire, you aren’t going to be able to tell a difference between Core i3 and Core i5 processors. If you are editing multiple files in Adobe Photoshop, you will notice the Core i5 can complete tasks faster.

Technically, Core i5 processors are marketed a bit differently. There are three main types of Core i5 Processors: dual core, quad core and now six cores. Dual core i5 processors have 32nm and 22nm technology, hyper threading support, virtualization support, and Turbo Boost technology. Quad core i5 processors have 45nm, 22nm or 14nm technology, virtualization support and Turbo Boost technology, but do not have hyper threading support.

The latest Coffee Lake i5 chips do not support hyper threading also, but have been bumped up to six cores, instead of four.

Do the three types of Core i5 processors offer similar performance? For single-threaded applications, the six core will beat out the dual core, but won’t make a huge difference compared to the quad core. However, for multi-threaded applications, the newest six core will have a significant advantage over the dual and quad core versions. When purchasing an i5, be careful to note how many cores are in the processor.

Should you buy a computer with a Core i5 processor? In most situations, a Core i5 is a safe bet if you can spend the extra cash. Core i5’s offer enough performance to do stuff like video editing and gaming, and more than enough performance to do basic stuff like word processing, internet surfing, and email. A Core i5 processor is a great, mid-range priced processor for people who use their computers frequently and often multi-task.

Core i7

Next, we have the Intel Core i7 processor lineup. Core i7’s were the current top-of-the-line chips, out of all the Core series processors. That is until Core i9 and Core X series chips. However, the Core i7 series is still quite expensive. The Core i7’s also come in several different varieties. The is difference is in the chipset.

Before Coffee Lake, the i7 series had quad core performance, virtualization support, hyper-threading, and Turbo Boost Technology. With Coffee Lake, we get a nice boost to six cores, just like i5, but i7 supports hyper threading, so we get a total of 12 threads.

The main use for Core i7 processors is major multi-tasking, heavy multimedia tasks, top-notch gaming, and heavy computing tasks. You will see the benefits of an i7 when running a couple of virtual machines or while editing 4K or higher video in Premiere.

The i7 processors also have a larger on-board cache, which lets it perform repetitive tasks more efficiently. Larger caches also mean better multitasking performance.

Should you buy a computer with an i7 processor? For the vast majority of people, it’s overkill. It would be much smarter to go with something like an i5-8600K and spend the savings on a better graphics card or more RAM or even a faster SSD hard drive.

However, if you occasionally perform CPU-intensive tasks or do 2K or 4K gaming, the i7 series is an excellent choice.

Core i9

Last, but not least, we have the new Core i9 series of chips, which are a big change from the rest of the lineup. Firstly, all the i9 chips use the new LG 2066 socket, which require an Intel X299 chipset motherboard.

The i9 series of chips is also the most powerful set of processors that Intel has released by far. The cheapest one has 10 cores, a huge L3 cache and costs about a grand right now. The highest end i9 has mind-boggling 18 cores (36 threads) and will set you back about the price of a cheap used car.

All of the i9 processors are part of the Core-X series of processors also. There are also Core-X versions of Core i7 and Core i5 processors, though the i9 processors totally crush the i7 and i5 versions in benchmarks.

Should you buy a computer with an i9 processor? Yes, if you want the coolest, fastest and most wicked computer you can own. Just be ready to put down some serious cash. Also, when you get a processor with such high specs, it only makes sense if all the other components are high-end too. You’re talking several thousand dollars here, so i9 is literally for 3D animation, scientific calculations, etc.

Conclusion and Advice

No matter which processor you decide to buy, you’ll be getting a quality processor that will last you a long time. However, every purchase is a balance between cost and performance. My recommendation is to use a site like CPUBenchmark to get details about each processor you are considering.

If you’re working in IT, there are a few things that you need to know no matter what. They are basically essential skills for any IT person. One of those skills is knowing how to renew and release IP addresses.

You’ll need to do this a lot during your IT career and it’s really useful for getting your computer reconnected to the Internet or to the local LAN network. Renewing an IP address can also help fix an IP address conflict.

Renew IP Address

In order to renew an IP address, go to Start, then Run and type in CMD to open a new command prompt window. In newer versions of Windows, just click Start and type in CMD.

Now type in the following command:

ipconfig /renew

Whichever network adapters are currently connected on the computer will go out and have their addresses renewed with the DHCP server. If you are unable to renew an IP address, you can read my previous post on how to fix the Cannot renew IP addresserror.

Note that you can view all IP configuration info by using the /all parameter.

ipconfig /all

Release IP Address

To release an IP address, type in the following command:

ipconfig /release

This command will release the IP address for all connected adapters. If you have to release and renew an IP address often, it may be easier to create a batch file and add the commands there. Here is what you would copy and paste into your file:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
pause

Save the file to any location other than the desktop and then right-click on it and choose Send To – Desktop (Create Shortcut). Double-click on the shortcut to run the script, which you will be able to view in the command window.

DNS Resolver Commands

Note that you can also refresh all DHCP leases and re-register DNS names using the registerdns parameter.

ipconfig /registerdns

If you need to clear the DNS resolver cache on the local computer, you can use the flushdns parameter.

ipconfig /flushdns

To view the contents of the DNS resolver cache, use the displaydns parameter.

ipconfig /displaydns

Here, I will show you the basic troubleshooting computers that doesn't turn on or doesn't turn on properly.

First of all you must have basic tools for opening the computer system or the laptop. Troubleshooting PC's of your own PC's and laptop could save you tons of money. First thing you need to check if the PC's and laptop doesn't turn on is the Power outlet, make sure the power outlet is working otherwise the computer will not turn on. How to test your power outlet without any multi-meter/volt meter? Just plug in a cellphone charger and test your device or smartphone if will going to charge or not. Then, If your device or smartphone works, your outlet is good. Next thing you need to make sure is the power cord, make sure there's no cut or any damages on it. If you have laptop that doesn't turn on the next thing we are going to check is the power port, you could determine it if there's a damage by looking closely to the power port. If you have system unit PC's you need to check if your power supply is working or not, by checking if the fans of power supply is working or not at the back of system unit and make sure that the button is set to turn on. If your power supply was good and the system unit has power when you are trying to turn on the system unit but don't have any display in the monitor, next thing we need to check is the memory stick or we called it RAM. First thing we need to check before opening the system is to remove the power source. Next, you need to have a screw driver to open the system unit. Some customer's of one internet service provider in the Philippines, got slow internet connection to their smartphone's due to the heavy user's of psiphon. Meanwhile, the loyal customer's of Globe Telecom complaint about their problem that they got low internet connection due the heavy user's of psiphon.

Connect mo na ang modem na tinamaan ni 169
Open Winspreader > Browse > Choose Firmware dv235t stock FWv.7 o Bm622m 2012
At pag nasa winspreader na my FW CLICK start hayaan nyo lang at mapapansin nyo na yung wifi led light
ng wifi ng DV ay blinking na hayaan nyo lang ulit sa Bm622m 2012 observe nyo lang kung anong Led light ang mag blink

Step 3

Ihiga ang modem yung madali mong mahuhugot ang LAN connector sa modem, tingnan nyo ang LAN adapter ng PC kung my Ekis yung PC at kung meron simulan na ang MANUAL TRICK eto po pinaka mahalaga dito....

Plug / unplug procedure po ito.. habang nag reread ang lan adapter nyo plug nyo po at ih unplug at ulitin iyon

Nalaman ko tong trick na ito nung nai hold ko ng pindot yung reset sa likod ng modem at nai plug unplug ko at habang naka hold nai click ko yung lan, at habang naka hold yon pinasok ko ang lan at nkakita ko yung 10.1.1.254 na ip sa details pero nang tinanggal ko sa pagkakapindot nag reset ang MODEM at umalik sa 169 ilan beses ko yun inulit dahil nga baka yun ang gamot pero nung di nag success hinayaan ko nalang at ayun ganun lang pala tatanga tanga kaya wag nyo gawn yang gnawa ko nung una kong test...
