61% of all Hospitalizations are in some form or fashion tied to Childbirth.  The money generated by Birth is “what keeps the lights on” at the hospital.  So, when we federalize medicine we are literally Socializing Birth.  Collectivist Birth is messy, rationed, focused on the greater good and does not have the time or resources to cater to the individual needs of Mothers and Babies.
I love Family Birth because it is solely focused on the individual needs of the Mother, Baby, and Family at large.  When a mother births in her own space, she has the autonomy to have it be about her needs, her family, and her agenda and goals rather than someone or something outside of her home.
Taking personal responsibility for Childbirth will free families from the balkanized mess that is going to descend upon the American Family these next few decades.

First Published at Blog Critics Magazine the month the Health Care Debate was taking place in Congress

In 1988, exactly 21 years ago, I was expecting my first baby.  We had taken a Lamaze Hospital Childbirth class and was feeling nervous and unprepared to give birth.  I prayed and asked specifically for guidance to some information that would help me with my upcoming birth.

I felt guided to a library across town that I had not been to since I was a teen.  I still had a valid library card and upon entering, headed straight for the childbirth books.

The title Husband Coached Childbirth caught my eye and I snatched it up.  Little did I understand how significantly my life was about to change upon reading that book.  Dr. Robert Bradley, the OB who wrote it, was the first to introduce me to the idea that Childbirth can not only be painless, it can also be ecstatically sexual and pleasurable as well.

At that point in my life, I was content to seek out a painless birth and, upon mastering all of the skills presented in his book, three weeks after reading it, I gave birth to my oldest daughter…painlessly, naturally, and in a hospital with a 50% C-section rate on December 1st, 1988.

My daughter will become an adult in a few weeks, and as I take a realistic look at what has happened to birth in the past two decades, frankly, I shudder with horror when I think about my daughters and grandaughters giving birth in this day and age.

As I’ve been writing this article, I just checked the status of the House Health Care bill that is going to be voted on tomorrow.  The most recent report from the AP says that the lawmakers are still fighting over abortion funding and providing illegal immigrants access to health care.

While words like “death panels”, “taxpayer funded abortion”, and “pull the plug on Grandma” have been tossed around during the debate these past few months, no one has mentioned childbirth and what a National Health Plan will mean for those of us welcoming our children and grandchildren during the next few decades.

When the Bradley Method of Childbirth helped me achieve a natural, spontaneous, surgery free birth in 1988, I was so excited by what I had learned that my husband and I trained to become Bradley Childbirth Educators.  For eight years we taught Husband Coached Childbirth in our home here in Boulder, Colorado.  During this happy time we welcomed three additional children into our family.

As I lived through the ups and downs of a breach surgical birth for my second child, a hospital VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Ceasarean) with my third, and finally an unassisted childbirth at home with my fourth, the Obstetric World in America decided to pass some rules and set in place a few guidelines that truly made medical birth a harrowing experience for the four million women giving birth every year in America.

I won’t take the time to outline the various decisions that entrenched surgical and drugged birth as the norm in our hospitals.  Let’s just say that with one in three mothers having a C-section, and the level of drugs used during labor at an all time high, we are on a trajectory as a nation that has sent our society down a path towards an 80% C-section rate.

I am acquainted with fellow birth activists who believe that socializing birth is the only way to break the medical monopoly and open up the floodgates of freedom for families.  These friends believe that taxpayer funding of birth will allow Midwives, Doulas, Nurse Practioners, and Nurse Midwives to step into the birthing arena that has been blocked by the OB’s for generations in American obstetrics.

I have argued repeatedly on my blog that no one is advocating for families with this health care bill.  Various special interests, like the pharmaceutical companies, have promised billions to help set it all up and implement it in our hospitals and clinics.  I asked one mother at the Huffington Post if she believed that those dollars were going to be given to the government without any strings attached.

I said, “What we are about to get in America is a particularly noxious form of Facism — government controlled by corporations — at the expense of patient safety and wellness. You think medicine has been awful in America these past fifty years? Just wait until any and all doctor accountability is tossed out the window in so called ‘tort reform’ and unfettered assembly line birth truly gets going these next few years. The only option for mothers who desire ‘normal and natural’ will be homebirth.”

With 61% of all hospitalizations tied to birth in some form or fashion, I’m going to take a leap and assume that the status quo will be entrenched with this new health care bill.  And the ultimate question Mothers are going to have to ask themselves is this,  “What is the healthiest way for me to welcome my child into the world?”

I’m not here to tell anyone what will be best for their child.  Each mother and father has to decide for themselves what type of birth will provide the healthiest outcome.  But with more and more studies linking poor baby outcomes to the overuse of drugs during pregnancy and labor, parents should take the time to really research options and pick the one that will help both the mother and the baby to have the best start together.  For our family, that has translated into a near rejection of allopathic (drugs and surgery) childbirth.

For our fifth child’s birth in 2002 I made the decision to do all of my own prenatal care, birth him alone at home into the hands of his father, and then hired various professionals who came to my home after the birth to care for us during the intense post-partum period.  My insurance did not cover this care, nor did I expect anyone to pay it for us.

My son Benjamin just turned seven last week, and he has been a joyful addition to our family.  He has been the healthiest of all of our children, and he shares a particularly strong emotional bond with his father.  When Ben was born in our bedroom, Paul leapt for JOY!  He literally jumped.  This moment in our marriage has been a beacon of hope for our family during dark times and challenges.

During our first four births, the Joy we felt upon the arrival of our babes has been the most intense of our married life together.  Each birthday has been a celebration of love.  But with Ben’s freebirth, the light and love were uncluttered by hospital rules, regulations, and staff, and pure spiritural bliss was ours to enjoy in the sanctity of our little home.

I defy any politician/doctor/busybody to come into the homes of those of us who have taken personal responsibility for our lives and tell us how we are allowed to birth the babes.  As the Medical Childbirth Monopoly gets entrenched with Nationalized Health Care, I would challenge those who are looking for a more holistic lifestyle to seek out something completely divorced from the medical model.  Rationed assembly line health care and natural childbirth DO NOT MIX!

And finally, I want to testify that Husband/Wife Homebirth is often the gateway to a deeper level of love and trust in a marriage.

In February of 2009 a group of Activists organized the first Denver Tea Party on the East Steps of the Capitol Building in Denver.  The night before the event I called Brian Campbell who organized the rally, and offered to sing the National Anthem.  He said that would be great.  I also told him that I would love to share a few thoughts.  He told me to just go ahead and share whatever I wanted.

So that night I spent some time thinking about what I would like to say.  I’ve been politically active since I was a teenager and had spent the better part of twenty years thinking about Freedom.  Now I was being given a chance to stand in front of a group of people with a microphone and tell them what was on my mind.  I brought my son Benjamin, aged six, to the rally with me, and he held our American Flag while the crowd said the Pledge and I  sang the National Anthem and gave my speech

The previous two years I had watched with horror as a group of Marxists took over the Federal Government.  I spent hours on my blog sharing information with readers about why this would be a bad thing for America.  In a post created at Free Republic a few months before the teaparty and a few days before the 2008 election I wrote these words:

“These past few days I have been doing quite a bit of research about Barack Obama.

I have spent most of my adult life studying political ideologies and reading books on political theory.

I guess what is so baffling to me is how easily the American People, especially women, allow themselves to be duped by somone that “sounds good”.

One thing needs to be fully understood by anyone reading this post. Communism is NOT a political party. It is not a legitimate, “alternative” to the party system in America. Marxism is a revolutionary force that has at its roots the overthrow of all Free People through class envy, warfare, and violence. Socialism is the stepping stone to world communism.

The fact that all of Obamas closest friends, mentors, and family members are die hard marxists is troubling enough. But when I read an article last night from the International Tribune that claimed his Mother was also a dyed in the wool Marxist, I just about threw up.

When a child is gestated in the womb of a woman who has such confused thoughts about freedom and slavery, it creates this psychic wound in the Freedom Loving portion of the babes brain and causes absolute infiltration into every cell of his body towards Collectivist thought, acts, and deeds.”

President Obama has said that his mother was the most influential person in his life.

As I pondered what to say at the Tea Party, I decided to begin my speech with the final verse of the National Anthem.

I was blessed to sing in a high school choir with a director who believed it was important to sing all verses of the National Anthem, so during my years singing in his choir, whenever we sang the Anthem, we sang all of the verses and I have had it memorized ever since.

I started the speech by singing these words:

Oh Thus be it ever when Freemen shall stand

Between their loved homes and the Wars Desolation

Blessed with Victory and Peace

May the Heaven Rescued Land,

Praise the power that hath made

and Preserved us a Nation.

Then Conquer we must,

When our Cause it is just…

And this be our Motto,

“In God is our Trust”.

And the Star Spangled Banner oh long may it wave,

O’er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Then I asked the crowd of tea partiers who they were. I asked them to raise their hands when I called out Republican, Democrat, Independent, and Constitutionalist.  They did and then I told them that it was extremely important that all parties work together to root out the Marxist Moonbats who had taken over DC.  Then I gave a quick overview of the Book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

I told the people that it was time for us as Americans to “Go Galt” as suggested by the book written by Rand in the 50′s.

And then I suggested three ways that We The People could “Go Galt” in our Daily Behavior.

1.  With the understanding that the first big legislation that the Obama Team would tackle would be an overhaul of our healthcare system, I challenged the crowd to take “Personal Responsibility” for their own health and more responsibility for the health and wellbeing of their families. The number one thing that happens in American Hospitals is Childbirth.  Sixty One percent of all hospitalizations are in one way or another related to birth, and so I would challenge the Mothers of America to learn the skills of natural mothering and start planning now to give birth quietly at home.

2. The second principle I outlined in that speech in order to live “under the radar” of the Marxists, was to grow as much of your own food as possible.  By growing your own vegetables, fruits, nuts, and perhaps even your own grains, potatoes, and beans, individual citizens could easily live on a subsistence farm completely self reliant from commercial food sources.  This is a dream that Paul and I have.  And I look forward to someday owning some property where we could grow our own food and live completely off the grid.

3. The third way I challenged citizens to “Go Galt” was to prepare now to barter and trade with neighbors.  Bartering takes citizens out of the tax loop and allows for “free” trade without the sticky fingers of government tax collectors to step in and and steal the fruits of your labors.  Running a Barter Based black market out of your basement or garage could be the way to circumvent taxes and the inherent “pooling” of resources that will be used to prop up the various socialistic parasitic government plans that are now being prepared to soak the American Producers at the expense of the American Parasites.

An example of this type of living would be a mother who has the skills of teaching music, cutting hair, or tutoring in math trading her skill or service in exchange for a bushel of apples, a couple pounds of home made soap, or some home baked bread.  Instead of a cash transaction being conducted, a barter or trade could easily replace the money, and nobody in government would ever be able to steal anything from the trade.  If a huge number of American Citizens started to live this way overnight…  it would lead to the inevitable collapse of the American Socialistic State that much more quickly.

I would challenge anyone who would like to understand these principles more fully to take the time to read Atlas Shrugged and study the philosophy of Objectivism.

Americans are intelligent and innovative people and if you are someone who feels as strongly as I do that your tax dollars not be used to pay for Abortions and forced sterilizations as well as a litany of other abominations, learning this new way of living and thinking will enable all of us to participate in the American Economy without propping up those systems that are revolting to our morality.

Teapartiers have vowed to keep fighting this system of health care, on the streets and in the courts, but I believe the best way to “fight” is just to shrug and Go GALT! And then let it melt into the vast, behemoth of nothingness that it is…

To finish up my speech I introduced my son Ben who was holding the American Flag.  I told the crowd that my husband and I did not give him life so that he could live as a slave to a governmental system.  I told them that we gave him life so that he could pursue his own happiness in whatever form he wanted.

Then I said, God Bless America and handed the Mic over to Brian.

It is a tired and pathetic claim and at the risk of insulting just about anyone who has chosen to have an epidural, does ANYONE at all believe that a Mother who requests every possible pain relieving drug an OB can offer is thinking about what is best for her child while she gives birth?

The poo can be flung both ways… here is a video backing up the assertion that Mothers looking for a tranformative experience are indeed thinking about what is best for baby.

So the President is going to propose a new economic plan after his vacay at Marthas Vineyard.

He should not waste the mental energy attempting to put it together, Ayn Rand has already done the heavy lifting on that topic by taking Collectivism in America to its logical conclusion with Directive 10-289 in the chapter Miracle Metal of Atlas Shrugged.

Ayn used Fiction to help her readers understand what Marxism “Looked Like” in real life by creating fictional characters who could be played today by any of the secular humanists currently embedded in our National Government.

Barack, Tim, David, and Gene could easily play Mr. Thompson, Wesley, Eugene, Floyd, and Fred in the upcoming second installment of Atlas Shrugged, the Movie.  But the Prez and his Economic team are busy with vacations and writing even more talking points blaming all of the economic morass on tea party activists like me. And preparing a “really big show” for September takes a great deal of time…

Here is a quick synopsis of the  Economic Plan of the Marxist Looters and Moochers from Rands book:

From the Freeper Online Book Club: Atlas Shrugged

“Head of State Thompson meets with his economic brain trust: Wesley Mouch, Eugene Lawson, Jim Taggart, Dr. Floyd Ferris, Orren Boyle, Clem Weatherby, and Fred Kinnan, who is head of Amalgamated Labor of America. They are discussing Directive 10-289.

Wesley Mouch is upset that people are not sufficiently motivated to cooperate; he needs more power. Weatherby points out that the economic climate is deteriorating rapidly. Lawson says the people lack the proper social spirit, they don’t understand that production is a duty and that there is no such thing as a personal life. Thompson, the realist, says to make sure the Mainstream Media is on board. Ferris brings out an old George Washington quote about wise and honest men and disparages it as out of date.

Fred Kinnan says this is about jobs; he suggests forcing employers to increase their payrolls by one-third. Jim screams that he wouldn’t have any use for the extra men. Kinnan says it’s not about use, it’s about need, and need trumps profit. Jim is insulted by the word profit, but he thinks there might be room for agreement if the railroad can increase its rates. Orren Boyle says he can’t afford it, and Jim says that public need trumps Boyle’s profits. Boyle says no one can accuse him of ever making a profit! Boyle can absorb a rate increase if the government increases his subsidy, but Weatherby accuses Boyle of running a black hole for government money. Thompson says to go ahead with the directive, and he’ll widen the state of emergency. He leaves the meeting.

Mouch sums up. Deterioration of the economy is so great that the best solution is to freeze everything in place and hold the line. Freedom has been given a chance and has failed; stringent controls are necessary. He reads Directive 10-289.

1. All workers are bound to their jobs and can neither leave nor be fired under penalty of one year in prison. The Unification Board, reporting to the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources, possesses judicial authority. All citizens upon turning 21 must register with the Unification Board which will assign them jobs in the best interests of the nation.
2. All businesses must remain in operation and cannot close under penalty of nationalization and confiscation of property.
3. All patents and copyrights are to be gifted to the government by the use of voluntary Gift Certificates. The Unification Board will license those processes to all applicants to eliminate monopolies. All brand names and private trademarks are abolished.
4. No new inventions shall be produced or invented. The Patent Office is suspended.
5. All business establishments will produce the same amount every year as they did in the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.
6. All citizens must purchase the same amount of goods every year as they did in the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.
7. All wages and prices are frozen.
8. All cases arising from this directive are to be decided by the Unification Board.

There is agreement that this will provide security, although Jim gets a bit hysterical. Lawson says to hell with the little people; man’s mind is the source of all the problems in the world. Ferris says that genius is superstition, there is no such thing as the intellect, and man’s brain is a social product. A genius hoards ideas that rightfully belong to the society from which he stole them. Thought is theft.

Fred Kinnan brings them all down to earth. If the Unification Board isn’t owned by organized labor, the whole deal is off. Boyle says that Kinnan is trying to get a stranglehold on every industry in the country; Kinnan smiles and agrees. If Wesley Mouch agrees to let Mouch and Kinnan control the board, Kinnan can get the union membership to swallow the rest. Jim thinks the country won’t stand for it.

Kinnan laughs and says that if there aren’t rules any longer, then it’s about who robs whom. Kinnan controls the votes of his membership. He knows he’s delivering his people into slavery and they know it too, but they also know Fred Kinnan will throw them a crumb once in a while. If they’re going to be under a whip, they would prefer that Kinnan wield it. He knows he’s a racketeer and his people know it, but they know he can deliver the goods. Mouch gives in.”

No hard feelings guys, I know that my constant drumbeat the past eight years dissing your wives for their epidurals and prozac and your kids ADD meds and vaccines was somewhat annoying, but Rupert and his cronies at The Partnership for New York City have hell to pay for what they have done to humanity.  He likely has a few freeper mods paid well for sending certain threads down the memory hole & banning loud mouthed bloggers who get a little too close to the truth and if a freedom loving health care blogging Mom gets thrust out of the conversations of the day because I talk too much about certain taboo subjects…well, WHO WILL NOTICE?

Just remember that when 60 % of young couples are infertile, the C-Section rate tops out at 96%, and 75% of our children are drooling in autistic straitjackets, somebody was trying to blow really hard on that whistle.

The first couple I filmed were my neighbors Jaime and Eric. Jaime gave birth the day after the pregnancy photo shoot and the pics of Henry were taken a few weeks after his birth. This video is a good example of the type of You Tube I will make for you to share with your family and friends.

Last night at the Louisville Rec Center our LDS Ward hosted a Food Storage Know How Class for our Community.  We had three speakers and a Q & A after the lectures.  I was happy to be included in the mix and had my husband video tape my thoughts to share here on my blog.

Most of my writings revolve around Self Reliant Mothering and this class was just an extension of all of my long term efforts to put the tools of Mothering into the hands of the women who are looking for them.  Having a supply of basic food stuffs is one of the most effective and healthy things a family can do to further their own economic and health goals.

The Power of Moms 

Recently I have discovered a whole world of Mormon Mommy Bloggers who are engaged in some amazing work online.  My daughter told me about Shawni Pothiers Blog 71 Toesa few months ago. Shawni has several sisters and in laws who are dedicated Mom Bloggers and as I have explored the work they are doing, I felt it would be a great idea to share some of their links and thoughts on my own blog.

Shawni’s sister Saren has a web site called The Power of Moms A Gathering Place for Deliberate Mothers. Saren also writes a family blog called Five Kids in Five Years.

Some final things to do to prepare for a time of chaos around the collapse of the Economy.

Economic Congruency: Ayn Rand points to the logical “next step” of Obamas Financial Policies

So the President is going to propose a new economic plan after his vacay at Marthas Vineyard.

He should not waste the mental energy attempting to put it together, Ayn Rand has already done the heavy lifting on that topic by taking Collectivism in America to its logical conclusion with Directive 10-289 in the chapter Miracle Metal of Atlas Shrugged.

Ayn used Fiction to help her readers understand what Marxism “Looked Like” in real life by creating fictional characters who could be played today by any of the secular humanists currently embedded in our National Government.

Recently I have discovered a whole world of Mormon Mommy Bloggers who are engaged in some amazing work online.  My daughter told me about Shawni Pothiers Blog 71 Toesa few months ago. Shawni has several sisters and in laws who are dedicated Mom Bloggers and as I have explored the work they are doing, I felt it would be a great idea to share some of their links and thoughts on my own blog.

Shawni’s sister Saren has a web site called The Power of Moms A Gathering Place for Deliberate Mothers. Saren also writes a family blog called Five Kids in Five Years.

I don’t have much time for blog reading, as I spend quite a bit of my time doing my own internet work and reading about politics, but I have been so impressed with the intention these women put into their Mothering that I felt like a shout out was in order.

The other day Saren wrote a post that touched my heart.  We have a Christmas Tradition of reading a Christmas Story every night starting on December 1st.  We also include some singing, a scripture about the Savior, and read our regular chapter in the Book of Mormon with our children.  We try to have this family time every night until Christmas.

This year during our first nights reading we had several fights and a few arguments.  Each night some little tiff has marred the experience and last night I whipped out the camera and took a little video after we finished reading.  Although dark, it captures a snapshot of the moment.

Moments happen when I get out of the way

This is tomorrow’s post for our Desert News Motherhood Matters blog – thought I might as well share it here as well so I can easily read over it and I hopefully won’t have to keep learning this lesson again and again!

“You can’t force a moment. I know this but sometimes I still try.

Yesterday there were lots of not-so-good moments. The kids were cranky and needy and I worked hard all day but didn’t feel like I got much done. We were late to everything because of domino effects of dumb little things that kept happening – misplaced shoes and homework, spending way too long trying to find poster board at Target, the cashier at the shoe store giving me a hard time about exchanging shoes I bought for my son last week that had already fallen apart, one thing after another. I ended up snapping at the kids quite a bit and not feeling like the mom I want to be at all….

…I dropped the whole decorating idea and just plopped down on the couch, feeling defeated. Quickly, I was joined by my 6-year-old twins, books in hand, geam in their eyes. They snuggled up on either side of me and placed a book on my lap. The older kids came and sat down too. I’d told them we’d just read one book as it was getting a bit late but we read four books. We just couldn’t stop. The kids were creating the beautiful moments I’d craved with their snuggling and cute comments, memories and ideas as we read.

So last night, I learned (yet again) that the best moments are not planned by the mom. The best moments happen when the mom relaxes and let’s the kids bring the moments to her. So much of the joy of moments is stamped out when we get too attached to our own visions of particular joyful moments we’re trying to create.

Just be there. Just listen. Just sit there. Just smile.”

This one resonated today. We started our stories, scriptures, and christmas singing last night amidst typical teenage boys fighting with little brother, as I type this comment Dad is refereeing what I hope is the final fight of the night.

This afternoon, about five thirty, before I served supper, I asked all three boys to come join us for the story. I only had one balk and he was pacified when we told him he could light the candles. We had two fights over who was sitting where on the couch during the story, but other than that our twenty minutes together was mostly nice.

Reality often clashes so resoundingly bad with the dreams we have for meaningful family time that we Moms are often tempted to give up, not try, and just give in to despair.

As my husband was attempting to reason with three very unreasonable boys determined not to give an inch just now, I yelled to him, “honey, let them fight it out, come in the bedroom with me, and we’ll lock ourselves in”. My husband being the more Christlike one in our marriage, said, “yeah that is really going to help”, and continued to teach the boys and settle the squabble.

I think the issue for me is that I have all these hopes and dreams for spending eternity with my children, but at times I just get so overwhelmed with them that I start dreaming of the time when they will be gone.

Right or wrong, that is the truth. I have determined that as a mother I love my babies until they are about four and a half, then slowly, year by year they start to get on my nerves.

Maybe the ancients had it right when boys were married at 18 and girls married at puberty.

Maybe we were never meant to live with our parents past a certain time. The biggest clashes at our house always involve the older children claiming the youngest is “spoiled”, and having major issues with perceived injustices in how they were raised as opposed to how the youngest is being nurtured.

Whew, didn’t mean to write a book, but I always appreciate your honesty.

A couple years ago we were very busy with multiple high schoolers, a very busy Christmas Concert Season (I sang with Colorado Repertory Singers as a soprano soloist), and just the normal crazy holiday schedule of a big family.  I suggested to the children that we were too busy to continue our Christmas Story tradition that year and told them we would try again another year.

Andrew protested very loudly against this choice.  Since this son of mine is rarely willing to voice his opinion on anything, willing to go along to get along on just about any issue that comes up in our family life, I felt like we owed it to him to continue with our tradition even if we missed a few nights.

So Andy saved the tradition and now it is so entrenched even the thought of missing this magical twenty minutes of Christmas Time together every night makes me feel sad.

That being said, it is still NOT easy to gather the boys to do anything.  The seem to revel in annoying each other.

Barack, Tim, David, and Gene could easily play Mr. Thompson, Wesley, Eugene, Floyd, and Fred in the upcoming second installment of Atlas Shrugged, the Movie.  But the Prez and his Economic team are busy with vacations and writing even more talking points blaming all of the economic morass on tea party activists like me. And preparing a “really big show” for September takes a great deal of time…

Here is a quick synopsis of the  Economic Plan of the Marxist Looters and Moochers from Rands book: (I really think to be congruent the President and his Economic Advisers should just bite the bullet and publish this plan as the logical next step.)

From the Freeper Online Book Club: Atlas Shrugged

“Head of State Thompson meets with his economic brain trust: Wesley Mouch, Eugene Lawson, Jim Taggart, Dr. Floyd Ferris, Orren Boyle, Clem Weatherby, and Fred Kinnan, who is head of Amalgamated Labor of America. They are discussing Directive 10-289.

Wesley Mouch is upset that people are not sufficiently motivated to cooperate; he needs more power. Weatherby points out that the economic climate is deteriorating rapidly. Lawson says the people lack the proper social spirit, they don’t understand that production is a duty and that there is no such thing as a personal life. Thompson, the realist, says to make sure the Mainstream Media is on board. Ferris brings out an old George Washington quote about wise and honest men and disparages it as out of date.

Fred Kinnan says this is about jobs; he suggests forcing employers to increase their payrolls by one-third. Jim screams that he wouldn’t have any use for the extra men. Kinnan says it’s not about use, it’s about need, and need trumps profit. Jim is insulted by the word profit, but he thinks there might be room for agreement if the railroad can increase its rates. Orren Boyle says he can’t afford it, and Jim says that public need trumps Boyle’s profits. Boyle says no one can accuse him of ever making a profit! Boyle can absorb a rate increase if the government increases his subsidy, but Weatherby accuses Boyle of running a black hole for government money. Thompson says to go ahead with the directive, and he’ll widen the state of emergency. He leaves the meeting.

Mouch sums up. Deterioration of the economy is so great that the best solution is to freeze everything in place and hold the line. Freedom has been given a chance and has failed; stringent controls are necessary. He reads Directive 10-289.

1. All workers are bound to their jobs and can neither leave nor be fired under penalty of one year in prison. The Unification Board, reporting to the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources, possesses judicial authority. All citizens upon turning 21 must register with the Unification Board which will assign them jobs in the best interests of the nation.
2. All businesses must remain in operation and cannot close under penalty of nationalization and confiscation of property.
3. All patents and copyrights are to be gifted to the government by the use of voluntary Gift Certificates. The Unification Board will license those processes to all applicants to eliminate monopolies. All brand names and private trademarks are abolished.
4. No new inventions shall be produced or invented. The Patent Office is suspended.
5. All business establishments will produce the same amount every year as they did in the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.
6. All citizens must purchase the same amount of goods every year as they did in the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.
7. All wages and prices are frozen.
8. All cases arising from this directive are to be decided by the Unification Board.

There is agreement that this will provide security, although Jim gets a bit hysterical. Lawson says to hell with the little people; man’s mind is the source of all the problems in the world. Ferris says that genius is superstition, there is no such thing as the intellect, and man’s brain is a social product. A genius hoards ideas that rightfully belong to the society from which he stole them. Thought is theft.

Fred Kinnan brings them all down to earth. If the Unification Board isn’t owned by organized labor, the whole deal is off. Boyle says that Kinnan is trying to get a stranglehold on every industry in the country; Kinnan smiles and agrees. If Wesley Mouch agrees to let Mouch and Kinnan control the board, Kinnan can get the union membership to swallow the rest. Jim thinks the country won’t stand for it.

Kinnan laughs and says that if there aren’t rules any longer, then it’s about who robs whom. Kinnan controls the votes of his membership. He knows he’s delivering his people into slavery and they know it too, but they also know Fred Kinnan will throw them a crumb once in a while. If they’re going to be under a whip, they would prefer that Kinnan wield it. He knows he’s a racketeer and his people know it, but they know he can deliver the goods. Mouch gives in.”

No hard feelings guys, I know that my constant drumbeat the past eight years dissing your wives for their epidurals and prozac and your kids ADD meds and vaccines was somewhat annoying, but Rupert and his cronies at The Partnership for New York City have hell to pay for what they have done to humanity.  He likely has a few freeper mods paid well for sending certain threads down the memory hole & banning loud mouthed bloggers who get a little too close to the truth and if a freedom loving health care blogging Mom gets thrust out of the conversations of the day because I talk too much about certain taboo subjects…well, WHO WILL NOTICE?

Just remember that when 60 % of young couples are infertile, the C-Section rate tops out at 96%, and 75% of our children are drooling in autistic straitjackets, somebody was trying to blow really hard on that whistle.

I have been planning to write this post for some time now, years it feels like, and someday I plan to encapsulate these thoughts into a book written for young women. For now, I’ll try to take the mishmash of my thoughts and attempt to get something readable into the blogosphere.

I have spent untold hours reading commentary on economics these past few decades (Bar none fav author is Thomas Sowell). And with the upsurge in concerns about the economy, it feels like so many of my favorite authors have been waxing far more eloquent than I with conservative ideas for fixing the broken parts of the American Economy.

Some of the most recent liberal and conservative ideas being thrown around include limiting family size to 2 children, decelebritizing mothers who give birth to multiples, and there has been a whole lotta talk about some sort of a ginormous government stimulus to “create jobs“.

From the presidents own web site he encapsulates the feds doing the following for we the people: (All on the nickel of our future children and grandchildren)

*Doubling the production of alternative energy in the next three years.

*Modernizing more than 75% of federal buildings and improve the energy efficiency of two million American homes, saving consumers and taxpayers billions on our energy bills.

*Making the immediate investments necessary to ensure that within five years, all of America’s medical records are computerized.

*Equipping tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and public universities with 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries.

*Expanding broadband across America, so that a small business in a rural town can connect and compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

*Investing in the science, research, and technology that will lead to new medical breakthroughs, new discoveries, and entire new industries.

While I support these sorts of investments being made in infrastructure, I do NOT support the taxpayers footing the bill. The private sector is far more efficient and effective at making these sorts of changes in infrastructure, and I anticipate them being made AS THE MARKET WILL ALLOW in the years to come.

I heard a booby from Huff Po say on CNN last night that conservatives don’t have any economic ideas.

Well, this conservative does!!!

So, here are my ideas for saving our economy from total collapse.

All of these principles revolve around Ecological Mothering and what is best for babies and children. I would like to see the government promote and support these practices with new legislation and shouted out by politicians in the marketplace of ideas.

1. Challenge/Economically Entice married women who have a husband in the work force, especially those who have children under the age of six, to stay home and care for their own. This will free up all sorts of jobs for those who are currently out of work.

A. To encourage this positive behavior that will benefit “the children” the most, give all sorts of tax breaks, up to and even including NO TAXES AT ALL, for those families who have a parent at home caring for small children.

B. For the mother who goes above and beyond the call of duty and takes on the full time and difficult task of breastfeeding her child beyond the currently culturally acceptable three months, if she breastfeeds up to the ideal third year of ecological (no bottles or pacifiers) mothering, award her family with a “never have to pay taxes ever” certificate that she will be able to show to any tax collector for the duration of her life, all for the contribution, dedication, and time she invested into one of our citizens. (Economics of Breastfeeding)

C. Teach young mothers of the financial savings involved in washing her own cloth diapers. ($2,000 per child)

D. Teach young couples the principles of Natural Family Planning using ecological breastfeeding to properly space babies.

2. Ban Abortion (except for rape and incest)

As for the flip side of our Economic Morass regarding children and babies I also have an idea that if implemented, in one generation would steady our course and stabilize the family and our economy.

3. Re-stigmatize bastard children

A. Completely and without apology de-fund all monies currently being paid to single mothers in the form of health care, housing, food, and education.

That’s it. Reward good mothering behavior and penalize bad mothering behavior.

I believe everyone in our society would be amazed at how quickly things would flip financially if we actually implemented these principles as the ideal for the Economy and Family Life.

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), sits down with David Gregory on “Meet the Press.”

“What we’re witnessing today is the failure of a Keynesian economic model,” Paul said. “And today we have to replace it with something — we either replace it with more government, more authoritarianism, more controls, or we look toward the free market.”
