Save a Life by Adopting from Animal Shelters

Pets make wonderful additions to a family. A pet can provide a source of unconditional love, companionship, entertainment and sometimes even provide important services for people with special needs. Adopting a pet from an animal shelter is rewarding in many ways. "Shelter animals make some of the most loyal and loving companions, because they just seem to know they have been saved," says Melissa Sartin, founder and director of Cast Away Animal Rescue Effort. Between 5 and 7 million pets find their way into animal shelters every year, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of that number, only half ever find homes. That does not include countless animals that never make it to shelters. In addition to nationally recognized animal rescue organizations such as the Humane Society and ASPCA, there are numerous other animal rescue efforts across the country also working to find families for homeless pets.…keep reading

By Anthony Collair

There are many reasons to give personalized gifts. For one thing they are unique which makes them very special. This means that the person who you are giving the gift to will understand that not only did you give them a gift that they liked but also that you put some thought into the gift. A personalized gift will mean even more since it demonstrates that you thought enough of the person who received the gift to have their name placed on it.

Personalized gifts are great presents for just about anybody. They can be given to children as well as the people who stand up at a wedding. Most people love these gifts since they have their name on them. Most people love nothing more than to see than their own name, which is what makes these gifts so unique and so popular, and they have been for numerous years.

A personalized doesn't have to be expensive. Frequently, if you simply look in a certain store you will find a gift that will stand out and be ideal for the person that the gift is for. However, it can take some time to look around in a store and there will always be people trying to help you. Nobody wants to spend a long time looking in a store for the perfect gift and then have to settle for something that they really don't really want simply because that particular store doesn't carry anything unique.

These days, one of the best ways to shop for the ideal gift is on the Internet. The gift may be ordered and paid for directly on the website on the Internet and then it can be shipped wherever you desire it to go. In addition to the convenience shopping on the Internet provides, you can also find unique gifts that aren't carried by your average retail store. The prices are also less expensive on the Internet and you can shop right from the comfort of your own home.

The Internet is by far the easiest, most convenient, and least expensive place to find personalized gifts. You can look for the gift at your convenience from your home or office. You will probably be able to find a unique gift for a very affordable price and much less than in a retail store. However, you should do some research about the website that you are considering purchasing the gift from to make sure that they are reputable. At the very least you should read the testimonials from previous customers. Giving a gift for a special occasion to people is the best way to show that you care.

One Cup Coffee Brewers Offer More Flexibility and Beverage Options than Traditional Coffee Makers

2011-09-03T00:33:00.000-07:00

By Jennifer Hartson

Traditionally, our coffee makers were designed to produce one big pot of coffee for several people to share. But in recent years, the fashion in which we brew coffee has been changed in comparison with those past generations.

Currently, there's a product called the Keurig B70 Coffee Maker being manufactured that's changing the way folks brew their morning hot beverage. These coffee makers are built to brew a single cup at a time.

The Keurig B70 coffee makers are an excellent way to provide coffee to those consumers who do not wish to prepare a large pot full of coffee. In preparing only a single cup with each brew, you are guaranteed to have the best in terms of freshness. The Keurig B70 coffee makers arrive with a recyclable coffee filter in the event that you would like to use your own instant coffee. Otherwise, you can buy Keurig coffee that has been formerly packaged in small cups called K-cups. Besides offering an abundant quantity of flavors in their coffee line, they also have assorted tea flavours also. Keurig claims that their coffee has an extraordinary flavour and exquisite taste that's second to none.

Keurig isn't the only company to introduce this new concept of coffee brewing. Additionally, there are the Tassimo T65 Home Brewing System and the Senseo Supreme 7832 coffee brewing system. The Tassimo T65 Home Brewing System is rather more creative than the Keurig because it has got a in-built LCD display that provides step by step instructions throughout the whole procedure. It is made by BOSCH, a leader in the industry of technical products. It is meant to be operated at the touch of a mouse button and makes a claim to have low energy usage.

The Senseo Supreme 7832 single cup coffee brewing system is akin to the Keurig and the Tassimo T65, however there's one main difference. Since it has 2 spouts, it is actually capable of manufacturing two cups of coffee at the same time. There is a spread of settings that is really capable of creating a cup of coffee within 30 seconds. Just like the Keurig, the Senseo Supreme 7832 uses "pods" that comes pre-filled with an assortment of tastes.

About the Author:

For the most part, the single cup coffee makers are slightly similar in nature and design. In contrast to the normal coffee brewers, they have given us a new, yet innovative means to brew cafe-quality coffee in the comfort of our own houses. Concepts for Kitchen Cupboards

2011-09-03T00:29:00.000-07:00

By Ruby Knolls

Kitchen cupboards are the most significant storage and shelving solutions needed to make the kitchen area look clean, roomy, and organized. With strategic placements of these cabinets, house keepers would be in a position to obviously sort out the tools and the products meant for the area, which helps make it easier for keeping track on the positioning of these things for use in the future. Unfortunately, with all of the years of usage, joined by the smoke, steam, and mildew that will amass on the exteriors of these kitchen cupboards, these storage spaces would need a major overhaul to look new once more.

There are various options for kitchen cupboards "one could either hire a professional cabinet maker to make one; buy a pre-designed set at a local home improvement store; or, create and renovate the kitchen cabinets by yourself. Each one has its own good points and bad points, but in the final analysis, all these still supply the necessary point of kitchen cupboards, and that's space.

Kitchen cabinets that are custom-made are the ideal option for house owners who are willing to spend extra cash for work costs and top-notch material. It could be expensive and would take a considerable time to close, but the end product is surely worth every buck, since it'd be made based from the client's directions, making it a novel kitchen creation.

For those people who are less expensive, they might select the pre-designed kitchen cabinet set available for purchase at any local home improvement shops or on the web. The designs would possibly not be as original as compared to the customized cabinets, but still, it supplies the storage spaces without putting a big dent on one's wallet.

Installation of these cabinets would only take hours, which is easy to do, even for people without any experience in cabinet making and construction. Ultimately, considering this as a DIY project is also a great alternative, because it could serve as an outlet of creativity and it's much cheaper as compared to the first 2.

A Brief History: Five Millenia of Massage As An Essential Medicine

2011-09-02T14:07:00.000-07:00

By Frank Giambagno

Although the massage therapy clinics are a relatively modern creation, the actual practice of massage goes far back in time. In fact, massage as a treatment is goes back before the building of the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

Today, for those among us who have suffered an injury, stress or suffer from physical pain, massage therapy is current and relevant practice. Here's a historical review of massage as a therapy:

3300 BC - Evidence of massage appear in Sumerian Cunieform tablets.

2598 BC - The oldest existing medical text, the Nei Ching, from China mentions massage.

2500 BC - Massage practices are documented in Egyptian hieroglyphics in the crypts of kings and depicted "animal healers" using massage techniques.

1500 BC - Evidence of massage is present in Tibet, India and China.

377 BC - The Greek doctor Hippocrates declares "A doctor must be experienced in many things but assuredly also in rubbing".

300BC-500AD - In The Roman Empire, massage was a part of bathing rituals. People who could afford it would be washed by attendants and have their stiff muscles rubbed with warm vegetable oils.

500s-1700s - The western Church bans massage for its association with "sensual pleasure".

1770 - Publication in France of the manuscript by the Jesuit Amiat, "Chinese Pressure Point Massage" which becomes the foundation for "Swedish Massage".

1813 - Per Henrik Ling establishes the Royal Gymnastic Central Institute in Stockholm, Sweden where "Swedish Massage" is developed.

1817 - First published book on massage by Cornelius E. De Puy, MD in the U. S. A.

1819 - French doctor Piorry analyzes the physiologic implications of massage.

1850's - Systematic Massaging Therapy is introduced in the USA by physician brothers George and Charles Taylor who studied in Sweden.

1863 - The French publication Du Massage documents the effects of each massage method on specific bodily systems.

1900 - Finnish College of Massage develops first system of Sports Massage, evolving from Swedish Massage system.

1916 - Swedish Institute set up in N. Y.

1927 - New York Society of Medical Massage Therapists established.

1939 - Florida State Massage Therapy Association organized.

1960s to present - Evolution of human complementary health-care, greater approval and knowledge of massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy. Many variations and specialties of bodywork are defined.

Customer Surveys - Good for Business

2011-09-02T14:03:00.000-07:00

By Louie Pateropoulos

One of the better ways to improve your relationship with your customer is through customer surveys. It also gives you the chance to raise questions and gather new info that can help your enterprise expand. Irrespective of the size of your business, customer surveys should be an important part of your business marketing plan.

A survey can take many shapes. It can be as simple as a postcard sent to each shopper along with their receipt or as all-inclusive as a page-long questionnaire that is filled out during an appointment at your office or business.

It's simple to make a client survey that can expand the conversation with your customers. There are several templates available on the internet to choose from, or you may choose to work with a marketing agency to make sure you get the proper questions for your business.

Three main approaches to survey your clients are:

1) Paper-based. This creates the opportunity to collect email addresses as well if you have not already done so.

2) Phone-based. In addition to obtaining the answers to the standard questions, there's also the possibility for your telephone survey service to ask further questions or get more free-form views.

3) internet based. Assuming you already have your customer's email address, this may be an efficient way to ask your customers to finish a survey on-line. Most online survey tools will summarize and tabulate the results for you.

Again, regardless of the approach, invest time in getting the questions right. A customer survey service agency can ensure questions are objective, including both closed- and open-ended questions that are successful in securing relevant info.

From a consumer relationship viewpoint, doing good customer surveys regularly lets the customer know that you care about their opinion and their business with you. A positive benefit, in addition to you learning more about what they think, is that you made your client feel important and more likely to "spread the word" about your service to friends and co-workers.

Massage Therapies: Which Kind is The Best for You?

2011-09-02T13:39:00.000-07:00

By Frank Giambagno

No matter what ails you, massage therapy has been a highly effective and recommended healing treatment for millenia. With its calming oils, calm environment and the near miraculous effects of skilfully applied touch and pressure, massage can work miracles for your body and soul.

There are a varied range of massage treatments to select from based primarily on whether you're wanting to ease pain, manage stress or bounce back from an ailment. Consider this short list of some of the most well liked massage treatment to assist you to select a type which will be most appropriate for your situation and prefered outcome.

Relaxing and Deep Tissue Massage. This is the best for treating anxiety and stresses and/or isolated aches. This relaxing massage treatment will ease away all those physical and emotional pressures and revive your energy.A deep tissue massage is also an excellent choice if you're affected by pain in a certain area. Firmer pressure than a regular massage is applied to target specific points and create a release to alleviate the pain.

Swedish Massage is the best for treating: general illness, influenza or low energy. This kind of massage therapy is one of the oldest formal categories of massage dating from the early 19th century and is today associated with the "classic therapeutic massage" most generally used across North America. If you've been feeling under the weather, are experiencing low energy or are getting over a cold or flu, this therapy can energize your system and help boost you back up to wellness. Swedish massages will boost your body's circulation and eliminate toxins through a mix of kneading, tapping, firm pressure and long smooth strokes. If you've never had massage before, this is a very good one to try first.

Pregnancy Massage. Best for treating aches, pains and the discomfort of pregnancy, with the core advantage of relaxation and posture support. For any expectant mother, a pregnancy massage can be extremely valuable in assuaging prenatal complications, promoting relaxation and even enhancing posture.

Sports Massage. For treating sports or work related pain or strains, the primary benefit is strained muscle relief and improved performance. If you're an athlete or have a physically demanding occupation, this is the therapy for you. It concentrates on treating musculo-skeletal issues from sports-related activities using similar techniques to Swedish Massage, but with more soft tissue, stretching and deep tissue methods.

Shiatsu is is better for treating back, neck and shoulder pain, stress headaches, and recovery from injuries. The core benefit is pain elimination, relaxation and revitalization. Shiatsu is a type of Japanese bodywork that applies finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians. Each pressure point is held from 2 to 8 seconds to enhance the flow of energy and help the body regain balance. The specialist usually uses a mat on the floor in place of the standard massage table for this session.

Reflexology covers a good range of situations: back stiffness, headaches, infertility, metastatic inflammation, sleep problems, hormonal irregularities, sporting Injuries, circulatory problems, stress-related diseases, and foot discomfort. Core benefits include relaxation, improved circulation, reduced discomfort and overall healing. Reflexology is an alternative form of massage that focuses primarily on the feet. The main idea is that there are "reflex" areas on the hands and feet that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other elements of the body. For example: the tips of the toes relate to the head and the heart and chest are around the ball of the foot. Practitioners apply pressure to these reflex areas to raise levels of health in the corresponding organs through energized pathways. Reflexology is most relaxing, particularly for folk who stand on their feet all day or merely have worn out achy feet.

Aromatherapy Massage is used for treating stress & emotional related issues. Core benefits vary, primarily based on the type of oil used. For relaxing - chamomile, lavender, geranium. For uplifting - ylang ylang, clary sage, rose, neroli. For energizing and cleansing - rosemary. For decongestion - eucalyptus, pine, tea tree.

Aromatherapy is massage therapy with the addition of several scented plant oils called essential oils to heal specific illnesses or reduce stress. The massage specialist will select oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress reducing or balancing and is dependent on your preferred results. One of the most common oils utilized in aromatherapy massage is lavender. Aromatherapy is particularly suited for those wanting to de-stress or going through an emotional condition.

.

Hot Stone Massage.Best for treating back pain and aches, poor circulation, osseous rheumatism, stress. The core benefit is improved circulation and relaxing the nervous system. Hot Stone Massage is a Swedish style massage with the incorporation of heated basalt stones. The stones' heat penetrates into deep layers of muscle and connecting tissue and helps to relax tight areas of the body. The heated stone becomes a natural extension of the therapist's hand when applying gliding movements over the body. Larger stones are also placed along the backbone as you lay face down on the massage table.

Sell Your Place Fast Using Real Estate Investors

2011-09-02T13:19:00.000-07:00

By Bryan Samac

As an alternative choice to selling their home the traditonal way using real estate brokers, many home owners consider "For Sale by Owner" but are usually engaged with the time and stress around promoting the home and fielding calls, especially from unqualified home buyers.

There is a third choice - selling your house to a property investor. Reasons that explain why working together with a property investor could be the best choice include:

1) A Fast Close. There are various private circumstances where one could gain from having a fast sale. Motives like personal family matters, the challenge of keeping up to mortgage payments, looking to stop foreclosure and work relocation can make the "need for speed" the goal. Working with a property investor can often result in a quick and hassle-free closing.

2) Less Pressure to Upgrade Your Home. There is often the expectancy to perform a big improvement (like a new kitchen) to make your property more engaging to market. Contingent on your situation, the money might not be available for upgrades. And, the project could end up causing delays, especially if what you want to do is sell the property as is. Real estate investment professionals have the experience and knowledge to work with you to structure an offer based primarily on the wishes you have.

3) Ease and Adaptability. It may be uncomfortable to have you and your family accommodate home staging, many showings and unknown people walking through your property. With an one-on-one transaction with a property investor you are freed from those sorts of anxiety and stresses.

Selling your home doesn't have to be a strain, so prior to speaking to a broker or making an attempt to sell your property by yourself, consider speaking to a real estate investor and see what selections are out there for you. Make selling your home a positive adventure!

Nova Scotian Man speaks of great white shark of up to 25-feet in Bay of Fundy

2011-09-02T00:31:00.000-07:00

By Sean LaLonde

Canada's The Chronicle Herald wrote that a "scary huge" great white shark was spotted by a ship of whale watchers on Aug 17, 2011 in the Bay of Fundy off Brier Island, Nova Scotia. According to the report, Fulton Lavender, a Nova Scotia Bird Society naturalist claims that the shark was over 25 in his personal opinion.

At first, Fulton thought the shark to be a basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), which can typically reach lengths of over 25. However, after seeing pictures of the shark taken by a visitor on board the whale-watching ship, Fulton asserted it was "definitely a great white shark." Others on board the boat said that the shark had a white bottom. While basking sharks do not characteristically have a white bottom, white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) do. Fulton also added that the photos taken showed facial patterns and a dorsal fin more characteristic of a white shark.

The visitor who took the pictures of the animal guaranteed to provide Brier Island officials with a copy of a picture of the animal but has still to do so.

Adult white sharks are often in the range of 13-17 in length, but reports of great whites reaching 20, though somewhat rare, are not unheard of. A white shark surpassing 25 in length would be way outside the normal size range of the species.

Reid Gillis, a captain for one of the whale watching boats claims he saw the animal jump out of the water 3 times, but he couldn't identify the species as a white shark. The shark was also blamed by a number of the whale watchers for attacking a humpback whale who was seen with "crescent-shaped" wounds. Gillis who saw the injuries on the whale noted that he did not see the shark attack the humpback and couldn't resolve whether the injuries were the result of bite marks.

Canadian shark analyst, Steven Campana, announced it would be highly bizarre for a white shark to attack a healthy adult whale.

Earlier in the month a tiny white shark was caught accidentally in a fisherman's weir in the Bay of Fundy tides, putting an end point to speculation that the species are now present in the Fundy region.
