There must have been something in the air on Sunday causing the sailors to get a little crazy. Tons of people were practicing their freestyle moves.

Friday night formula windsurfing

13 sailors turned out for last night’s formula windsurfing races at St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco last night. They were treated to 5 windward – leeward races. Everyone is getting in shape for distance racing tomorrow and the upcoming US Windsurfing Nationals in the Gorge.

Visit to the Marine Mammal Center

I have shot photos before at the charity fun run supporting the Marine Mammal Center in the Marin Headlands, but until yesterday, I had never been to the center. It’s a new facility that gives visitors a close-up view of the animals receiving care.

Friday night formula windsurfing races

Even at 5:30, Crissy Field was still fogged in. As the races were starting, a cruise ship was heading out to sea – not the view the passengers were expecting. The Golden Gate Bridge was entirely engulfed in fog.

Here’s a shot of Al Mirel leading the charge to the inside jibe mark.

The racers were preparing for the Saturday San Francisco Classic and course racing on Sunday.

Sebastopol wedding photo scouting trip

Today I headed up to Sebastopol to do some scouting for a wedding I am photographing next month. The wedding will be at Sova Gardens. It looks like a great spot for a wedding. The site is sectioned off into several different outdoor areas some great locations for photographs – flowers, trees, and an old barn. Here’s a shot of the entrance…

Wedding photos at History Park in San Jose

The city of San Jose has sectioned off a large area of Kelley Park where they now feature 27 restored homes, businesses and other landmarks representing the history of the Santa Clara Valley. After photographing a wedding there today, I can definitely say History Park is a great place for a wedding.

The bride and groom fully utilized the space of the park by having the ceremony on the porch of one of the houses, appetizers and lawn games in another area, and dinner and dancing in yet another. As a bonus, guests were able to ride around the park on the streetcar.

I’m still processing through all the images I shot, but here are a couple. The bathtub served as the drink cooler.

Gusty winds at Crissy Field

Wow, today was windy but the problem was it was also very gusty. Several sailors, including Derek Lueck, braved the gusts and made the best of it. Here’s a shot of Derek working on his freestyle.

Friday night windsurfing race

Last night featured some powered-up racing at StFYC’s Friday night series. There were some pretty serious gusts making their way down the course. One created some problems for a couple of the sailors below. As the gust hit you could see their boards being lifted right off the water as they struggled to hang on. No crashes here though. Everyone was able to keep things under control and make it through the race.
