I was following along on Twitter today and noticed that JennaDesigns tweets were standing out a bit, so I did a bit of poking around.  Come to find out that she is a mother of two and loves to design, sew and photograph the world around us.

With over 780 followers it would seem that she has quite the following, if you will.  Her designs are VERY comforting and warm.  As soon as I saw the potholders I felt like I wanted a set.  With white edges and an almost mosaic design in the center, they really “pop” when you look at them.

She also has a shop at Etsy.com and you can see that here.  There you will find Fine Art Photographs, Travel Tissue Holders, Snap Wallets, Bags, Items for Baby, Iron on Patches and more!  According to her profile there, she has 76 items for sale and has 81 items sold since Aug. 2008.

So, when all is said and done, I was just cruising my Twitter account and thought I would do a little write up on someone that touched me positively today, even though it was on Twitter.  I hope you enjoyed the post and maybe even visited JennaDesigns for more information.

Trust me, I KNOW you don’t follow this blog because you like to read about my 2 cents on Sheboygan County.  You don’t have to lie to me, really.  After reading some of the “great” stories throughout 2009, I really only have ONE question and that is:

What is Really Wrong in Sheboygan?

Do you have an answer?  Well, of course you do.  Every one that lives in the city, or visits the Press forum knows exactly what is “wrong” with Sheboygan.  I think you can get my sarcasm.  People jump to conclusions, post ignorant, hateful comments all day long on Press articles.  Others run their mouths, point fingers from this guy to that guy, but really what is the issue?

Is it the crime wave, sorry DRUG TYPHOON, that has been barreling down on Sheboygan over the last 10 years?  Is it because nobody gives a damn about anything unless it affects them?  We as people that live in the county have seen some weird things happen, scratch our heads when we see the city do something unexpected (ala Blue Harbor), or even yell at someone because clearly, you can raise a better child than those that appear weekly in the Press articles.

My point is that none of us are really ever going to know what the problem is.  All we can do is try to better our community in any way that we know how to.  It might start with the education of a child, how are the school systems?  Why can’t parents be more involved in their child’s lives?  The gangs don’t HAVE to be the parent.

One of the first things that I think of when I read an article like THIS ONE is “Why can’t the Press report on something else?”.  Only going back about 15 years, you didn’t read about stuff like this in the paper, why do we HAVE to read about it now?  I would say that it’s because the article titles sell more papers, but we know how that is going for newspapers all across the world.  Maybe the COMMUNITY of Sheboygan County would be better if they read about the good things that were happening.

There are positive things that happen in Sheboygan.  I recently had an individual come to me and ask if he could post about the GOOD things that are happening around the city.  Yes I said, that would be great.  And I think that the overall outcome is positive.  Point the children in the right direction, that’s all you can do.

Why is the drug problem so bad in Sheboygan?

Is it because there are less cops?  The cops we have are bad and cannot catch the drug dealers?  Are the judges bad for letting repeat  offenders back out on the streets only to cause more havoc?  What about our lucky citizens that get out on bail while waiting for their court date and COMMIT more crimes?

So, I am going to follow up on this post with something a bit more positive.  Stay tuned.

Yes, it is true, Blogsheboygan.com has become a fan of Twitter (for some time now) and finally signed up for an account.  I realized that I could tweet local deals to the fine, upstanding citizens of this wonderful city (at least the ones with Twitter) and eveyone would be happier.

About one week ago, there was an article in the Sheboygan Press regarding a Sheboygan Falls man arrested for theft from a gambling machine in a Plymouth tavern.

Miller told police he would feed a $20 bill into the machine — receiving $20 in credit — then use a lock pick to open the machine and retrieve his bill, according to a criminal complaint. He then fed the bill through again, received more credit, and repeated the process.

Above is a snippet from the article in case you missed it.  I am unable to read through the comments that were posted on the Press website, but I just wanted to ask a simple question.  Aren’t gambling machines illegal to have in a tavern?  I do understand they are for entertainment purposes only, but this man was “paid out” for the credits he accumulated.

Miller cashed in his credits with a bartender twice on Tuesday, taking $250 one time and $313 the next. Wednesday, he had cashed out once for $235 when police arrived.

Having paid out the patron would be illegal, from what I gathered about these types of machines.  Entertainment purposes only, would mean you are NOT getting any of the money back in any way, shape or form.  So, now we know the man was stealing from the machines, but we also know the machines are placed illegally.  What wasn’t the tavern owner charged with any type of crime then?

I will say that I am not 100% sure of the law as it is stated, other than what I posted.  So, if anyone has any insight, why not leave a comment.  I would like to know why tavern owners can profit from a machine AND pay out patrons, even though it is illegal to do so.
