To understand what Chi is it is necessary to define exactly who and what we are. To define who we are it is necessary to analyze the shape of our true body.

Your immediate body is the body you are currently in, the one which is playing the guitar, typing the keyboard, talking to friends and using of the six senses. We are the eyeball and the eardrum and the hair and throat and toenails and everything that is in between and has organic sensation. We journey about the planet and have fleshy existence, and we pursue fleshy pleasures.

The body that we are concerned about, however, is the body that is built of Chi. This is the body which exists beyond the senses and into whatever distances we can perceive. Indeed, perceptions through the six senses have to be put aside if you wish to experience the larger body of yourself.

This brings us to the concept that if everything is our body, then what is this thing called Chi? Chi is the organic thing you have presence in, that thing you call a body, and everything else, too. It could be a wavelength, or an idea, it doesn't really matter as long as we understand that it is.

How do we control this concept of Chi? After all, if you can move an arm or a foot, why can't you move that cloud or wave that tree...if they really are part of our True Body? Why can't we stop that dangerous storm, or make it rain when we want, or pull the plug on the republicrats that keeps wasting our energy/money?

Well, for one thing, we can't make our True Body work because we are not used to making it work. We are used to sitting around and watching TV and being made stupid by pills and letting our senses be lulled, and this includes any sense of our True Body, into unconsciousness. We can undo this fact by practicing a discipline and by refusing to engage in any kind of programming, and by refusing any type of programming that does not allow honest exchange.

What you must do is unbind your senses and look at your immediate body and excite your imagination and open yourself up to the idea of your True Body through a True discipline. You must use discipline to look at and analyze your immediate body until you know what it is, and so that you are not merely engaging in a scientific examination. You must open and expand your senses through a True Discipline until you step outside of your body, and thus experience the truth of your True Body.

If you are still unable to perspire the rain and wave the clouds at will, then you must understand that the True Body you are occupying is also being occupied by everybody else on the planet. Thus, to make your True Body move, you must make everybody else turn off their TVs and stop taking pills and let go of their unconscious and freezing hold on the True Body. You do this by helping them find a True Discipline that will take them beyond their immediate body and awaken them and take them.

About the Author:

Al Case has practiced the martial arts for over more than over forty plus+ years. Find Your True Body at Monster Martial Arts.

Chiropractic and sciatica is a good match because chiropractic care can address many of the issues that can cause sciatic pain. Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed, inflamed or irritated.

The sciatic nerve is the longest (and the largest) nerve in your entire body. It starts at the spinal column down in your pelvis and runs down each leg. This nerve can be as wide as your thumb near its point of origin (making it easy to be compressed). As the sciatic nerve progresses downward, it breaks into five branches that serve your thigh, knee, calf, ankle and foot. From this reason alone, it's easy to see why it can be so incapacitating when this nerve is compressed.

Causes of Sciatica Misalignment (subluxation) of the spine Pelvic misalignment Slipped or herniated disc from a fall or accident Tumors Diabetes Arthritis Vitamin deficiencies Pregnancy

Simple movements are often the triggers for sciatic pain. Actions that you would normally not give a second thought to, like sitting, standing, walking, lifting, sneezing or bending may be enough to send sharp pains down your leg from your hip. Chiropractors have treated many sciatica cases successfully over the years.

Many people don't realize that sciatica begins with lower back pain. They may feel these aches and pains for a few weeks before the true sciatica pain kicks in. They may feel pain, numbness or weakness start in the hip and move through the buttocks, then down through the thigh, the calf and finally the foot. The pain can be a dull ache or it can be a hot, shooting pain. Pain can last for a few minutes, a few hours or several days or weeks. The pain going down the leg eventually becomes worse than that in the lower back. Those who have suffered sciatica for a long time will realize the pain will localize in the buttocks and thighs. If it is untreated, the nerve can sustain permanent damage and the calf muscle may begin to deteriorate. Some extreme cases also include a weakened bladder and paresthesia.

Most people will wait until the sciatica pain is completely unbearable before they seek the aid of a doctor of chiropractic. This can and may lead to permanent nerve damage. If you contact a chiropractor when you first feel sciatic pain, there is a much higher success rate and a better chance of relieving the pain and fixing the cause. A chiropractor will take your personal medical history when you first meet, and then do a thorough physical exam. You may need x-rays, but that will depend on what they find. The chiropractor will discuss the results and recommended treatment with you.

Manual adjustments to your spine may be done to help correct any misalignments. These adjustments help remove any blockages that may be pinching the sciatic nerve. Muscle spasms may be treated with massage. Your chiropractor may also recommend ice packs or ultrasound treatments to help relieve the symptoms. In the majority of cases, several sessions of manual adjustments are adequate to relieve the problem.

Chiropractic and sciatica are a good fit. Sciatica has a direct cause that can be determined. Chiropractic care can not only relieve the symptoms but remove the cause as well, so the chance of a return of the pain is minimal. X-rays taken before and after treatment for sciatica have proven that chiropractic care realigned the spine and reduced the symptoms. Before you take pain medications to mask your symptoms, see a chiropractor if you think you may be developing sciatica.

About the Author:

Philip Vincent is a health educator. Those who follow the teachings of Ayurveda believe in a diet that is high in vegetables, fruit, whole grains and other naturally fiber-rich foods. Keep your body toned and looking radiant by eating Ayurveda foods, which provide lasting energy throughout the day.

Depending upon each person's body type, the benefits from eating an Ayurvedic diet varies. Improved health and memory; increased energy, endurance and strength; and help in the prevention of disease, cold and flu are just some of the benefits found from following an Ayurvedic diet. Ayurvedic foods are considered medicine to those that practice Ayurveda, and are consumed for the positive physical and mental effects on a person.

A 5,000 year-old practice of natural healing, Ayurveda incorporates an entire system of dietary recommendations. Ayurveda is an ancient medical science with origins in India and teaches how to lead a long and prosperous life by being healthy. Whether through an exercise program or dietary plan, Ayurveda teaches that all health-related measures must be based on an understanding of a person's unique mind-body constitution or dosha.

The Ayurvedic diet not only restores the balance of doshas but it also nourishes the body, which is essential for maintaining health. By eating Ayurveda foods, a person will be supplied with complete nutrition, and a balance of appetite and digestion. A person may feel extra alive and happy by discovering Ayurveda foods and certain spices and then incorporating them into their diet.

When prepared using the correct proportion of the six tastes: sweet, salty, sour, pungent, astringent and bitter, Ayurvedic foods create a natural balance within the body. Ayurveda food and drink is put into categories depending on its taste, post-digestive effect on tissues, and the energetic effect it has on the doshas. Often linked to its healing powers and medical-health benefits, an Ayurvedic diet can help prevent and treat disease.

Following your own personal Ayurvedic diet is not as difficult as it may seem, because for every food that is bad for you, there are plenty of alternative and tasty foods. A balanced Ayurvedic diet includes all of the six tastes in every meal and creates balance and harmony in the body. Ayurveda foods are appetizing, flavorful and aromatic and offer healing and good health when served in the right atmosphere.

Rather than simply treating individual symptoms, Ayurveda is a healing system that treats the whole person and the selection of food is very important to the diet. According to Ayurvedic healers, all the medicines in the world cannot keep you well if the food you eat is not suited to your constitution or needs for balance. The right kinds of food can also offer relief just as nutritional imbalances figure as a possible cause of chronic fatigue syndrome.

Ayurvedic foods are very popular and eclectic, and they are especially delicious, thanks to the way in which they are prepared. The health benefits of Ayurvedic food are maximized by the use of particular spices and the strict use of fresh and seasonal ingredients. In general, eating a balanced Ayurvedic diet and following the Ayurvedic routine is a formidable weapon against stress.

About the Author:

Consuming a balanced diet full of ayurveda foods provides improved health but that is just one of the benefits provided by following an ayurvedic diet routine.

Of the 5,700 cases, at least eight people have died. At this time the CDC can no longer keep up with the growing number of infected people and have chosen to make estimates based on statistical modeling.

This modeling indicates that the flu is at a pandemic level, and will eventually infect one-third to one-half of the world population. The number of deaths in the northern hemisphere is relatively low due to the positive health effects of the sun and higher vitamin D (naturally anti-viral) levels in the spring and coming summer. This is expected to change in the winter, a traditional time for flu outbreaks with the lower levels of vitamin D.

As the infection rate approaches one in three, millions of us may become carriers of the virus. While the level of infection may not be fatal for all of us, we will still be mixing H1N1 with other flu strains, causing a constant mutation. The mutations can give the H1N1 an infinite number of different characteristics. As the virus becomes more diversified, we will have more difficulty in creating an effective and timely vaccine. If the virus becomes too mutated, it may become impossible to create a permanent vaccine. A great way to fight the flu is by maintaining a healthy immune system. Doing so will reduce our susceptibility to disease.

An easy step that we can all make toward maximizing our own health is through Ionic Detox. Regular sessions can help boost your immune system because they are effectively maintaining a healthy pH balance within the body. Negative ions entering the body work to neutralize acids and heavy metals. This results in an improvement in the body's ability to detoxify itself. According to M. Amin, PhD, Doctor of Natural Medicine, "Ion Detox will strengthen the immune system to fight any invading germs, bacteria or viruses. I am a classic example. I do not take any medication including flu shots since 1989. Do I get the flu? Never! Sometimes I feel my body fighting the attacking viruses. My entire family follows the same lifestyle: Regular ionic detox, high quality supplements, eating properly, exercise, prayer and positive thinking."

A healthy digestive system is key in maintaining a healthy immune system. Each of our bodies contain trillions of bacteria that help us break down and process the food we eat. So long as we have a good supply of digestive bacteria, our bodies will maintain a healthy immune system which will help protect us from toxins, viruses, and attack from parasites. Unfortunately, antibiotics, poor diet, drugs, stress and old age can lead to a reduction in the 'healthy' bacteria in our digestive system. So, in order to prevent loss of this bacteria, it is important to take a good probiotic supplement which provides us with the bacteria we may not be consuming with our food. One of the very best probiotic supplements that we have found is Primal Defense ULTRA by Garden of Life.

In addition to healthy digestive function, it is important to maintain a healthy dose of fiber in your diet. While the recommended daily intake for adults is only 25-30 grams, many of us fall short of ingesting enough fiber. If you keep track of your fiber consumption and fall short of meeting the recommended daily value, consider taking a high quality, natural fiber supplement. Garden of Life's 'DetoxiFiber' is an organic supplement that provides 5 grams of soluble and insoluble fiber in a balanced ratio. It consists of 100% certified organically grown flax seed and pea hull fiber, alfalfa and barley grasses, and chia seed.

Along with carefully monitoring your digestive health and fiber intake, consider your body's pH balance. Studies have found that much of the American diet consists of foods that test low on the pH scale. These highly acidic foods come from high doses of fatty acids and sugar, which can inhibit the body's immune system and keep it from working its best. Our bodies contain more than 75 trillion cells. Imagine these cells are acidic elements which are swimming in an alkaline sea. A balance must be maintained for normal metabolic processing. If we reduce the concentration of alkaline in our body by subjecting ourselves to a highly acidic diet, the balance will be shifted. Improving or maintaining the right balance of alkaline to acid should be done with multiple methods, the most important of which is a balanced diet with a roughly 60/40 ratio of alkaline foods to acid, even higher if the body is too acidic.

Dehydration is a harmful condition which can open your body up to infections and disease. A lack of hydration creates an environment where toxins can thrive. In order to condition your body to fight off attacks from harmful toxins, it is important to stay properly hydrated. Along with helping the body eliminate toxins, proper hydration can help the body eliminate fatty acids and can help facilitate metabolic functions. Through the basic practice of hydration, we can alkalize our bodies by treating pure water with an alkaline supplement in order to boost the pH. Adding the product 'pH Booster' to drinking water is an excellent way to raise the pH level. As an added bonus, it also works to ionize with minerals as well as oxygenate the water. As your body becomes more balanced you should boost your mineral intake with a concentrated mineral supplement. 'ConcenTrace' Trace Mineral Drops is a great, natural vegan product which will help maintain a proper mineral balance within the body.

Acidic conditions within the body can cause heavy metals like mercury to stay in the system. This creates situations which can lead to stress in the body. In a normal reaction to the stress, the body will then create more acids in order to cope. It does not take long for a vicious cycle to develop where the acids and metals lead to the stress which creates them. They definitely could. It's widely believed that yoga is just stretching, but you should try attending a class at your gym and see what you can find out about yoga as exercise. Such a class could use up the same number of calories as another more cardio-focused exercise.

You are doing resistance exercise when you do yoga, believe it or not. You may picture weight lifting when you think of resistance training. you are actually picking up your own body weight and this can be a good workout. You can strengthen your muscles with this type of exercise in the same way that could happen with other resistance activity.

You can find in yoga the same types of exercises you would do in other typical resistance routines. There are movements like push-ups, squats or lunges as well as many others. Yoga makes for a better and more enjoyable workout because the poses are so unique and not what we're used to necessarily. Some people think of yoga as a form of art. If you do your poses in front of a mirror, you can gain a new appreciation for the beauty of your body reflected back to you.

Yoga can be a helpful aid to weight loss in that it works subtly in the mind as well as physically. As a way to begin your day, you can find some peace of mind that will cut down on your need for ineffective coping techniques. That is, the "emotional eating" that some people do. Whenever one is eating for reasons other than hunger, there is an issue to address.

Cutting back on eating for reasons other than hunger will decrease overall caloric intake. This in itself means that weight reduction can happen. By doing yoga, you can take some time to take a mental break. If you can do this during your yoga routine, you can apply the skill to your everyday life too.

You can get positive weight loss results from just a few days of yoga a week. Very positive physical outcomes are possible from yoga. Although it may not strike you as the type of activity that can really change your body, you could be pleasantly surprised. Contrary to what you might believe, you don't have to despise exercise for it to really work for you. Your body need not be tormented for positive results. Being kind and gentle to it can work even better.

About the Author:

Learn yoga for stress relief and feel better. They look out their running shoes from the back of the wardrobe and get out on the road. After all, it's easy to do, it doesn't cost anything and you can't go wrong, can you? However, spring is just the time when all of us, having got lazy and overweight over the winter, overdo things and suffer injuries. Physiotherapists all over the country brace themselves for the surge in strains and sprains which occur at this time of year as our unprepared bodies are put through stresses which are too much for them. The commonest injuries tend to be foot pains, back pain and knee pain.

The typical mistake all runners tend to make at this time of year, not just novices, is to run too far and too hard to start with, or to run too often and try and progress the distances and speeds too fast and within too short a time window. Our tissues all have tolerances for physical stresses, which depend on our age, history of exercise, physical fitness and many other factors. If we overstep our tolerances we suffer from the typical symptoms and conditions of overuse injuries: delayed onset muscle soreness, muscle sprains, joint strains, iliotibial band syndrome, patellofemoral syndrome, bursitis and tendonitis. In extreme cases the body can suffer a stress fracture, common in the small bones of the foot, as the skeleton struggles to cope with the great forces that running puts upon it.

The solution to these problems is to take a graded approach to the initial training or to reduce one of the components such as the duration, intensity or frequency of training. If the problem is already apparent then reducing just one of the components may be enough to improve the situation so that training can recommence or improvement in fitness continues. A common problem with runners is to let small injuries linger without doing anything about them, leading to more difficult treatment problems later. Experiencing a new pain or ache should be a signal there is a problem to be addressed as soon as possible, and if it has not improved or settled within 10 days by treatment, analgesia or activity modification then help should be sought.

New and inexperienced runners can try a walking and running routine, and I have used this myself due to back pain experienced in running. I went for a ten minute run to get back into the swing of things and afterwards felt some back ache which got worse until the next day it was quite troublesome. Since it lasted for a week at a moderate level I was not very keen to continue and stopped for a while. Then I got keen again and went for a ten minute run again, with predictable and unpleasant results.

On a friend's suggestion I tried a running walking regime and it worked so well that I could run continuously for forty minutes before long, and without back pain. To start off the runner can do one minute's running and then walk for four minutes, repeating the process up to five times. The number of running minutes is increased and the walking ones decreased until the person can do an uninterrupted run.

The usual way of sticking your shoes on and then doing a bit of stretching before you set off for your run may be unwise as stretching before exercise may make injury more likely rather than less. Starting off by walking initially and then walking faster with longer strides can get you warmed up and get blood pumping into the muscles.

Starting off the running session with some stretches, bending over and knee bends may be quite traditional but may be the worst approach as there is some evidence that it may increase the injury risk. Warm up to increase muscle blood throughput may be best achieved by walking initially and then speeding up with faster walking and bigger strides.

About the Author:

Jonathan Blood Smyth, editor of the Physiotherapy Site, writes articles about Physiotherapists, physiotherapy, physiotherapists in Manchester, back pain, musculo-skeletal conditions, neck pain and injury management. This is not always the case. Now more and more osteopaths are recommending that clients do both: a combination of Western osteopathy and Eastern acupuncture.

Acupuncture is holistic approach to health that has its origins in China, having been refined and developed evolved over 2000 years. It is based on the philosophy that our health relies on the free flow of our body's energy " known as Qi " through a system of channels that lie beneath our skin. The pathways are all connected to the body's vital organs, so if the flow of Qi is upset in some way (either by physical illness or emotional disturbances), the health and harmony of our body comes out of balance.

The way acupuncture works is that very small needles are placed into certain pressure points in our bodies which exist along the energy pathways underneath our skin. This is aimed to disperse the built-up tensions and stimulate the flow of Qi, tapping into the body's own healing response which helps restore its natural balance.

But what does acupuncture have to do with osteopathy? Acupuncture and osteopathy have very similar philosophies in the sense that both believe that a problem can only be solved if you eliminate the root of the illness, rather than merely treating its symptoms. They treat the body and mind as interconnected entities, and this is why osteopaths often recommend acupuncture in addition to osteopathic treatments.

While some people see acupuncture as simply a way to alleviate pain, it helps heal specific complaints as well as illnesses. Here are some of the problems and conditions that acupuncture can help with:

- High blood pressure and circulatory problems

- Cranial problems, including headaches and migraines

- Respiratory problems, including asthma, breathlessness, and various others.

- Musculo-skeletal problems, helping soothe pain in the muscles and joints. Deals with many osteopathic problems such as arthritis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, and stiffness in the knees and neck.

- Allergies

- Insomnia or difficulties relaxing

Many patients also say that acupuncture has given them gives an overall sense of wellbeing improving their energy levels, vitality, and general health.

People are often apprehensive about acupuncture because needles are involved. Therapists reassure their clients by explaining that the needles used for acupuncture are not the same as those they use at the doctors office for injections. They are a lot finer and do penetrate the body very different ways. While everyone responds to pain differently, many do not find the experience painful at all.

Not everyone is convinced that practices such as acupuncture work better than painkillers or sleeping pills. Others are adamant that natural healing processes are the only option. There does not always need to be a choice. If you have suffered from chronic pain or feel constantly overwhelmed by stress, combining East and West may be your best option to feeling healthier, refreshed, and more energetic.

About the Author:

Andrew Mitchell, clinical editor at the Osteopath Network, writes papers about musculo-skeletal conditions, drug-free treatment, pain management and how to find a Edinburgh osteopath. When inhaling, ki enters the body through acupressure points (called kyong-hyol in Korean) and moves through the meridians to vital organs of the body.

In a healthy state one’s circulation is optimal, the person dynamic and lively. Symptoms of health include sweet saliva in the mouth, warm hands and feet, cool and refreshed head, warm abdomen filled with energy, regular bowel movements. This is referred to as the “water up, fire down” state where perception is clear and the senses opened. Typically, one feels positive, relaxed and both creativity and imagination are enhanced.

In the “water down, fire up” condition a person may feel disconnected, static, lifeless; experience dry mouth or bitter taste. One might have cold hands and feet, experience heat and pain in the head and the abdomen will lack warmth and energy. The individual may be constipated and have digestive problems. Finally, one feels tired and uncomfortable.

So, how do we help bring ourselves to a healthy state? First, it is important to acknowledge and recognize the body-mind connection. For many of us, in our dojangs, we often hear about this and may even have some practices or exercises that relate to this connection. For example, sometimes a class may begin and finish with simple relaxation, breathing practice, and/or meditation. There are many different styles and functions of these actions – including gaining focus, losing stress, increasing circulation by oxygenating the blood.

Initially, there are a number of simple things one may do on one’s own each day
to stimulate the body in preparation for the day ahead.

- Stretch before getting out of bed. Waken the sleeping muscles gently and
carefully.

- Try to take time for a simple meditation practice, preferably in a quiet place.
During this period, focus only on breathing. There is a variety of postures and
the key here is to find one that is comfortable for you.

- Stand with shoulders relaxed, tailbone curled slightly inward, knees soft, legs
shoulder-width apart, feet parallel, weight evenly balanced on soles to revive
the body, tap along the meridians.

- Gentle body bouncing provides a general loosening of all muscles and joints
and offers the extra benefit of stimulating brain activity and release of en-
dorphins - the natural, feel-good chemical - the is always available to each of
us provided we initiate activities such as those mentioned above.

When you invest time in this body-mind communication, you will gain a healthy dividend.

P.S. Note that often what starts the day off right, also helps release stress
and clear the body and mind for a good night rest.

There are various methods by which you can meditate, but perhaps, the most potent of all is the Chakra Meditation.

Introduction to Chakra Meditation

The meditation whose basic aim is to align the movement of all the seven primary Chakras in the body is termed as Chakra Meditation. Our body consists of 7 primary and over 20,000 secondary Chakras. For a better understanding of Chakra Meditation, its important to know what and where are the primary Chakras in the body:

1. Crown Chakra is situated at the top of the head. It is related to the thought element, which governs our wisdom, knowledge, and consciousness.

2. Orange or Naval or Sacral Chakra located at the center of abdomen and related to the element Water. It governs our emotions and sexuality.

3. Solar Plexus or Power Chakra located just above the naval region and related to the element Fire. It governs our will power, autonomy, and metabolism.

4. Heart Chakra governing your general relationships, and feelings of love and compassion is located at the center of the chest and related to the element Air.

5. Throat Chakra located at the base of the throat and related to the element Sound. It governs clear communication, creativity, and resonance during our entire lifespan.

6. Brow or The Third Eye Chakra located between the brows on the forehead and related to the element Light. It governs perception, interpretation, imagination, and clear vision.

7. Crown Chakra located at the top of the head and related to the element thought. It governs consciousness, wisdom, and knowledge.

If you want to reinvent yourself and bring back those vitalizing moments in your life, then theres no substitute to Chakra Meditation. If these vital seven Chakras are rotating in sync, physical, mental, and spiritual well being is assured. Thus, you can safely conclude that Chakra Meditation is the key to overall health of your life, taken as a whole.

Chakra Meditation Unleashed

Chakra Meditation involves three techniques in this order:

1. Grounding Technique, which aims at making the body feel connected with Earth. You just need to visualize a root growing from your body and entering into the Earth. This requires intense focus and mental presence during the act of visualization.

2. Centering Technique refers to the process whereby, your body gets prepared to receive the benefits of Chakra Meditation. The actual step involves taking 3-5 deep breaths. And visualization involves the assumption of feeling of relaxation of every body part from toe to head by tightening and relaxing each body part starting from toe, and moving in the northwards direction, till the head. The final act is the visualization of the act of centering a pot on a pottery wheel.

3. Relaxation Technique. The Relaxation Technique is the primary act in the entire Chakra Meditation process. Everyone has his or her own method of relaxation. Just find out your preferred mode of relaxing the body and stick to it. In a nutshell, Chakra Meditation is all about relaxing, visualizing, and directing the flow of energy through the seven energy centers (Chakras).

Here is a simple method of performing Chakra Meditation:

a) Sit or lie down in a position that is most comfortable for your body.

b) Close your eyes and loosen your clothing. The idea is to be in a natural state without any kind of artificial compulsion on the body and mind.

c) Breathe in a relaxed manner, which is neither too fast nor too slow. Let the breath come naturally!

d) Feel every part of your body from toe to the crown in that direction. Feel the earth you are lying on or the sofa you are seated on, feel the clothes you are wearing. Feel completely present with yourself and relaxed.

e) All the negative thoughts and emotions should not be avoided. Let them be! With time and regular practice, these thoughts will disappear automatically. Rather, when no such negative emotion disturbs you, that is the time when you should consider that you have perfected the art of Chakra Meditation.

f) Let you spirit roam in every part of your body. This is the feeling of completeness youve been yearning for.

This exercise can be done at any time of the day and for any duration of time. However, the longer the better!

About the Author:

Jonathan Benjem is a writer for the popular chakra-balance.com site. Sing

It wasn't that long ago that my doctor informed me that suffered from heart disease and high blood pressure. I knew that I dealt with a lot of stress in my life but I always thought that I could handle it. It seems that the stress was handling me instead.

Well at the age of 50, my doctor told me that my blood pressure was dangerously high and that I ran the risk of a heart attack or worse (in my mind), a stroke. I knew I needed to do something to change it quickly. What happened to the idea that 50 is the new 30 I wondered out loud? He reminded me that the way I had pushed myself until now, I was more like the new 100. I recognized the sad truth in what he was saying.

The obvious course of action for any western medicine doctor is to prescribe blood pressure medication. After doing some research into them however, I felt like I had to explore other alternative options first. I knew that my behavior was responsible for my declining health to at least some degree and believed that if I started with changing it, my health might improve.

The first thing I did was to change my diet. I began eating less fatty foods and more vegetables and fruits. I also began to add exercise to my daily life. I began walking and even went out and bought a bike for the occasional ride. I felt better but my blood pressure, it turns out, did not change much.

I heard about a nearby workshop on meditation. I had also heard about the possible benefit of meditation to blood pressure. I decided to give meditation a try before giving up and going the beta blockers my doctor had suggested.

I have to say, that results I experienced were amazing. I learned in the workshops that the first stage in learning to meditate is to stop the distractions and try to clear our minds. At first, it was really difficult to clear my mind of those everyday distractions but after a while I got the hang of it and entered into a wonderful place of calmness.

Thanks in large part to meditation; my blood pressure is currently at acceptable levels without the use of medication. My doctor was so impressed with the results I experienced, he is now recommending the use of meditation to other patients. I personally can not say enough great things about the practice of meditation has changed my life for the good.

About the Author:

Jeff K. Not only will you be able to enjoy your life a little bit longer, you can also live it while looking good and looking young.

You don't believe us? Here is a rundown of the benefits that healthy living can give. Read on and you may be tempted to leave the dark unhealthy side.

Active body Eating the right kinds of food and keeping your body in shape will result to having more energy and that will spill over to your work and your "play" time. You will be more active and will have more chance to shine in your line of work. People who are active also come across as more capable and more independent. They are also perceived as more approachable, confident and charming.

Younger looking People who live healthy are younger looking than those who smoke and drink in excess. This is because chemicals in alcoholic drinks and cigarettes dry up the skin and create a more older appearance. Chemicals in the body also reduce the nutrients that go into the body, thus depriving the body of vitamins and minerals that keep the skin and other organs healthy and functioning. Being young looking of course gives you a whole set of benefits, from a remarkable love life to success with career and in your social life. After all, whether we admit it or not, appearance do count in a lot of ways and being young looking and attractive can take you in places. As shallow as it seems, you will have more friends and more romantic involvements. Everybody loves beautiful people.

Clear thinking It is not true that chemicals in alcoholic drinks and cigarettes and drugs can amp up creativity levels. These are actually just short-lived and as studies have shown, only in the mind. People who eat and live healthy are more able to think clearly. They are more able to focus on the jobs at hand and therefore are able to accomplish much with their work than other people. They are also more dependable when given instructions and their memories are often clear and good.

No illness People who live a healthy lifestyle are well, healthy. They are not prone to sickness that can slow down a person's achievement levels. Thus, these people accomplish much of what they set out to do. They are not hampered by problems with their health or appointments with doctors that they have to go to. These people rarely take a leave of absence and when they do, they will often take a vacation and just relax. They don't take a leave because they are sick.

Emotionally-secure Although there really is no direct relationship, people who live a life of health and fitness are happier. They are able to enjoy their life more and are not distracted by odd habits and health problems. They also have less worries and are able to cope better with stressors. This is perhaps because they do not need to rely on chemicals for coping with the hardships that they encounter. Early on, they have developed natural coping strategies that can help them get through the daily grind.

About the Author:

This article was written by Dr Adel Cosie, a cosmetic surgeon, you can visit his website at Adelaide Cosmetic Surgery

This stiffness in the legs, ranging from the foot up to the gluteus maximus, can cause different problems as for instance the iliotibial band syndrome. Other problems that can arise from stiff leg muscles are back problems. Please check my web site for more posts about knee problems and their prevention.

The poses described in this post are especially for newcomers to yoga. They will help you getting more flexible leg muscles and thereby reduce the risk that you will suffer from overuse injuries like Iliotibial band syndrome. The asanas are named in english and sanscrit to make it easier for you to find videos or pictures of the postures on the web.

Leg flexibility is important to be able to perform the sport specific motions with as little resistance as possible. This will make your run or cycle efficiency better. Another important aspect is, that these poses will help you avoiding overuse injuries, as IT-band syndrome. My knee pain is gone since I started doing yoga regularly.

In the beginning it is normal that the muscles are so stiff that you can't get into the poses. Don't give up because of that! Just do your yoga regularly and you will gain flexibility. It will take some time, but it's very rewarding.

I recommend the following postures for increasing your leg flexibility:

Standing forward bend (Uttanasana): This is an excellent pose to extend your hamstrings. It will stretch your gluteus maximus, medius and minimus as well as your spinal muscles too. Precaution is to be made by people with back injury. These people should approach this bend very cautiously. It is important to let gravity do the work, don't push your body into the pose. If your hamstrings are very tight, bend your knees. That will make the stretch better.

Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): In runners and cyclists, the hip flexors is a normal weak point. The Warrior I works on those flexors. The Warrior I will increase your flexibility in the hips, back and front groins.

Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II): This is another asana that will stretch your hip joints. It will also open the groins and stretch the inner thigh muscles.

Side Angle Pose (Parsvakonasana): Stretches the back side of the legs and opens the groin. It will also stretch the upper body. Is a very good follower to the Warrior II.

Triangle Pose (Trikonasana): A follow up of the Warrior I posture. Above all the hips are getting worked on here.

Intense side stretch (Parsvottanasana): One more extraordinarly stretch for your hamstrings. This asana will work your hamstrings even more than the standing forward bend. The flexibility in your gluteus maximus will be increased as well.

Wide stance forward bend (Prasarita Padottanasana): This posture stretches your hamstrings and gluteus maximus efficiently. It is also called wide-legged forward fold and is a relative to the standing forward bend with the difference that in this pose you have your feet wider apart.

In every of these 7 postures remain for five deep breaths in position. If you do these poses regularly they will give you much more flexibility in your legs and they will open your groin and hips. I recommend doing them at least 3 times a week. They allow us to fit the benefits of meditation into our busy lives and with virtually no effort.

Stress is a major cause of lost work days and it is linked to physical as well as psychological illnesses. In these uncertain times, it is all the more important to that we are seen as being on top of our jobs.

We all need to relax and de-stress after a hard day at work. Meditation is a great way of doing this but it takes time to learn and practice. The last thing we need is another drain on our precious time.

But now, meditation audios offer us a technological solution. You can get either mp3 or CD versions and with them, meditation is effortless and fast.

They use binaural beat technology. You listen through headphones as a different frequency is applied to each ear. This causes your brain to generate electrical signals at a frequency which is the difference between them.

This entrainment process has been known and safely used for many years. Your brain reaches deep meditation states that could take years of practice to achieve and are hard to maintain by normal methods.

It is a pleasant experience due to the masking of the tones by music or relaxing sounds. You can pay attention to these or mentally tune them out if you choose. Take some time to be with your own thoughts.

Meditation Cd and mp3 tracks are available for specific purposes and come in various lengths and prices. They make relaxation and stress relief available at the flick of a switch.

About the Author:

At StressCurer.com, I have revealed my experience of living with the effects of prolonged stress and what I gained from using binaural beat technology. Medicines using herbs and plants are often considered safe, by nature of their organic qualities and many people find security in knowing that the drugs they are ingesting are made by nature and not in a laboratory.

With the onset of the media - celebrity endorsements, for example, or highlight of the negative effects of certain synthetic medicines - and increased awareness of the general public, more and more people are opting for natural remedies as an alternative source of pain relief or solution to certain serious ailments.

As a result of the heightened awareness of the risks involved with ingesting laboratory constructed drugs, more and more people are gravitating towards natural pain relief thinking that it is the better option. Unfortunately, many fail to take into account that any drug taken into the body bears risks - whether it is made of wholly natural ingredients or otherwise. Is natural pain relief better and safer, is a question that we must answer while accounting for all risks involved.

Natural pain relief medication is made from certain plants and herbs, which some people might find themselves allergic to. In addition, if you are already on other medication, these natural drugs might counteract your current treatment or even elevate the ailment. So, choosing natural pain relief as a better and safer option might not always be the wisest decision to make.

It is very important to realize that research conducted on herbal remedies is not as extensive as that of western medicine owing to the fact that the variety of herbs that are used for their healing and medicinal properties are far and wide. In addition, some remedies have been used for hundreds of years and have been passed down from generation to generation as successful solutions to natural pain relief. Always ask a physician for the appropriate treatment and prescription with whatever medicine you are intending to take.

Many herbs and natural plant extracts contain properties that are extremely effective for healing different ailments suffered in the body. For example, there are natural remedies for arthritis that contain anti-inflammatory elements to help ease swelling and encourage growth of new cartilage. Other types of herbs have also known to successfully treat and eliminate cancers.

Before you buy into any natural pain relief solutions, it will be wise to bear in mind that some natural remedies are very strong in their effect on the body. Some may contain components that can cause a drastic increase or decrease in blood pressure. Make sure that you take in only what you've been prescribed and find out as much as you can about important side effects so that you don't get caught by surprise.

If you're interested in natural pain relief, alternative medicine aims to tackle the root of the pain and as a consequence, cures the body of its ailment. Fast becoming more and more recognized as a legitimate and effective source of healing, alternative medicine is slowly being given recognition by the western medical profession. Not only will natural medication help you soothe your discomfort, there are also remedies that are extremely effective and not only soothe your body but can help you manage the pain successfully.

If you want to try first-hand the benefits of using natural pain relief remedies, speak to a medical professional to get a proper prescriptions for the treatment of your specific condition. Not only will this be more effective in helping you manage your discomfort but it will also reduce the risk of taking medication that might work against your healing process. So, is natural pain relief better and safer than western mediation? It's now up to you to decide.

About the Author:

Want to find out more about natural pain relief as a remedy to your condition? Certain diseases and previously existing degeneration in the knee extensor apparatus makes this condition more likely to occur. A rupture on one side is the most common occurrence and bilateral ruptures indicate there are very likely to be underlying causative factors. Patellar tendon ruptures are less frequent than ruptures of the quads tendon and present in younger people under 40. It is important to make an early diagnosis of this problem and operate as soon as possible afterward as delay makes the outcomes poorer.

The typical mechanism of injury is for the damage to occur during a rapid contraction of the quadriceps whilst it is lengthening and with the foot on the ground. Falls, direct blows to the knee, cuts and lacerations are all possible causes. Since normal tendons have been shown not to typically rupture and that the quadriceps can rupture after relatively minor trauma, it follows that rupture most likely occurs through an abnormal area in the tendon. Many medical conditions can increase the likelihood of tendon rupture including immobilization, long term steroid use, infections, rheumatological conditions and obesity. Steroid injections in the knee can weaken tendons and rupture can occur secondary to various knee operations.

Rupture of the quadriceps tendon usually occurs through abnormal tissue in the first two centimeters just above the patella. Medical conditions can damage the blood supply to the tendon or alter the structure of the tendon. Diabetes can cause changes in blood vessels and obesity leads to increased tendon forces and degeneration within the tendon by replacement with fatty tissues. In the microscopic examination of ruptured tendons the vast majority were suffering from degenerative changes without inflammatory changes and commonly showing abnormalities of blood vessels and supply. Decreased blood flow leading to poor nutrition and low oxygen levels may be crucial factors in tendon degeneration.

On presentation patients show a loss of the ability to use the knee functionally, swelling in the suprapatellar region and severe knee pain after a traumatic event such as a fall or stumble, or after the knee giving way without falling. There can be a clearly audible pop at the time and the patient may never have complained of knee pain before. Walking will be difficult due to pain and knee instability and a physical exam will show bruising, tenderness and the suprapatellar swelling. On manual examination a tissue gap may be found above the patella and the patella itself may lie rather lower than is normal.

Active extension or straightening of the knee against gravitational force is the important factor to assess in the patient's ability. An extension lag, where the patient cannot completely straighten their knee with their own power, is an indication of a potential rupture. The inability to straighten the knee will vary with the severity of the injury and partial ruptures are more difficult to diagnose. Any delay in assessing and diagnosing the patient is unhelpful and due to the difficulty in diagnosis it is common for this injury to be misdiagnosed with inevitably inappropriate management.

Improvement should occur in the knee swelling and pain with time, with the patient regaining walking ability and some quadriceps function. Walking can be difficult with the knee having the tendency to give way regularly and going up stairs being difficult, the patient hip hitching to bring their leg through in gait and then bracing the knee back to prevent instability. Typical management for complete, acute ruptures is to operate early and surgical repair can be effective also in chronic ruptures. Immobilization in a plaster cast may be used for partial tears, with 3-6 weeks in the cast followed by extensive physiotherapy to regain function.

4-6 weeks in a cylinder plaster in full knee extension is the common management after this operation and weight bearing is usually permitted early with a frame or crutches. After the plaster is taken off then a hinged knee brace can be applied which can be adjusted to limit flexion range which can be gradually increased to allow greater and greater knee bend. Patients are then referred to physiotherapy to work at gradual increases in knee strength and ranges of motion until the knee is rehabilitated close to the function of the other knee.

About the Author:

Jonathan Blood Smyth is the Superintendent of Physiotherapy at an NHS hospital in the South-West of the UK. How do I know? I have suffered many years from this crippling disorder. You feel that you are helpless and there is no longer any hope for you. Have I struck a common chord? Modern medicine often reaches for medication for the depressed person in order to stabilize the brain functions. In many cases medication will do more harm than good. In order to seek a better solution, why not look to alternative healing practices, like energy therapy healing, which has been proven an effective treatment for depression.

Energy therapy healing happens to be a group of techniques that work with the energy both in and around the body. Your body is full of energy. Energy not only flows through the body but in and out of the body as well. When this energy flow is disrupted, it can cause spiritual, emotional and physical results. When a person uses energy therapy healing, energy disruptions are cleared and the energy flow is restored.

A major thing that energy flow can influence is your mood. Energy that gets blocked within your body can lead to unhappy feelings and can depress your mood. Your whole mood tends to sink and after a prolonged time period, along with other factors, can lead to depression.

The belief about energy flow and depression is that when energy gets blocked and tends to build up in your body, this can produce emotional side effects. It lowers your mood and therefore, it leads to a depressed state of mind. When the blocked energy is released and the flow returns to normal, the depressed feelings are relieved.

Of course, if you are looking for a quick fix, you will not find it. There is no immediate solution. Immediate results cannot be given with energy therapy healing. This is due to a number of reasons. Your energy did not get blocked all at one time. It happened over a period of time. Only you may know the underlying reason or reasons as to why your energy became blocked. It may take some time to discover what caused the blocking of this energy in the first place. This important piece to the puzzle of life has to be resolved before the therapy can work to its fullest degree.

As I said before, if you are seeking a quick fix, you will not find it in using energy therapy to heal your depression. The results of energy therapy will manifest itself over time. For most people, it may take numerous sessions before results can be seen. Energy therapy is a process, and it is only by consistency that results will become apparent.

Energy therapy alone will not get the job done in helping you eradicate depression. Other more conventional methods will be used such as whole life coaching for your problems. This form of treatment is used to help back up the energy therapy and give you a course of treatment that is well-rounded.

If you use energy therapy healing to work through your problems then you will probably not have to take any medications that can not only cause unwanted side effects but the underlying problem is still there. Therefore, sometimes the medication will not even work. When energy therapy healing is used in conjunction with a more traditional approach, this will give you the well-rounded treatment that you need.

This course of action is very noninvasive and very safe. You should consider this alternative if your health care provider suggests medications. Talk about the alternatives and give it a try. You will see that energy therapy healing will help you get your life back and beat depression for good.

About the Author:

Energy Therapy Healing is an effective method for overcoming blocks in your life. Life is so rushed that we seldom get the chance to make a considered response to the situations that constantly bombard us. Time and again, rather than thoughtfully considering our actions and reactions, we make rush decisions.

However, it doesn't have to be this way. Each of us has to loosen up a bit now and then and relax. If not, tension will mount and impact how you handle the people around you, not just at work but in your own home.

The use of meditation is a way for you to relax for a while and allow your mind to focus until you settle down sufficiently to cope with the everyday demands of life.

Indeed, if you believe that your life is too stressful, you should definitely slow things down. Your head is in all probability overloaded with too many worries and cares. Meditation can help you relax and ease your stress.

The benefits of meditation have been experienced ever since it was first practiced many thousands of years ago. These include:

1. Stress reduction: Because meditation calms your mind and relaxes your body, it relieves your tension and stress. This is accomplished by the breathing exercises that are a component of the practice. Lowering your stress levels is among the primary reasons that you should engage in meditation.

2. Numerous health benefits: Research studies show that meditation can assist in healing disease. A major study conducted in 1976 by Australian psychiatrist Ainslie Meares, which was released in the Medical Journal of Australia, demonstrated the regression of cancer after a patient regularly practiced meditation. Meditation is also known to reduce hypertension, which is a plus for individuals who are at risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.

3. Better concentration: One form of meditation calls for concentrating on a specific object like a lit candle or reciting a mantra. Activities like these have been demonstrated to enhance concentration and focus.

4. Acceptance: Another benefit of meditation is the enhanced capacity to accept things as they are. Throughout Asia the dharma of the Buddhist of the religion spread and developed as it came into contact with the various cultures in its path. Practitioners and artists who created Tibetan art used a style that is known as aniconic, which was the use of Buddhist symbology and iconography without the actual use of the image of the human figure. In the first century CE, the human appearance of the Buddha started to become prominent in the Tibetan art at the time and this practice continues even unto this modern day. Buddhist art followed the believers in the Buddhist religion wherever it developed throughout all of Asia, in every Buddhist temple.

Tibetan Buddhist art is considered sacred and religious in nature, or was always thought of as religious in Asiatic cultures throughout the continent and in ancient Himalayan kingdoms such as Ladakh, Bhutan, and Nepal.

The Tibetan Buddhist art that was created previous to the middle of the twentieth century was steeped in traditional techniques and devoted to the vision of sacred iconography. Not only are the works of these early Tibetan Buddhist artists festooned with the central topics of philosophy and spirituality, they were also dedicated in showing the energy of the aesthetics that Tibetan Buddhist art was known for as it came into eminence during the growth of the various schools of Buddhism all over Asia and the regions it influenced with its presence over the years.

In the fourth century saw the emergence of the Mahayana Buddhist influence. This particular influence emphasized those who wished to forgo achieving Nirvana in order to help those others in need. The deity Chenrezig is commonly depicted as a thousand armed deity with a single eye in each hand in the Tibetan art of this Buddhist influence.

Another influence in Tibetan Buddhist art is that of Tantric Buddhism; the most common symbolism being that of the diamond thunderbolt. Angry deities with furious faces are also prevalent in Tantric Buddhism as depicted in the art of the period. The ghastly images often represent protectors who are dedicated to the teaching of tantric practices and the conquering of negative aspects.

The in the Himalayas, a religion with shamanistic foundations known as Bon brings to Tibetan Buddhist art a wide variety of local gods. These local deities are often depicted in Tibetan temples along with statues of the Buddha. These shamanistic gods were once considered harmful, but are now subjugated and in the service of Buddha.

Buddhist meditation covers a wide variety of techniques in meditation that promote mindfulness and concentration among other things. The core techniques have been preserved in ancient texts that have been reproduced throughout the centuries between teachers and students.

As Tibetan Buddhist art flourished it had a great influence on the development of art in the Hindu religion. In the tenth century Buddhism nearly disappeared from India due to the brisk expansion of Islam along with Hinduism in India.

About the Author:

John Stewart-Raji has been living in Nepal for more than 20 years, studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism. It isn't necessary for women to have has much discomfort as they do, however.

Even if hot flashes are normal during menopause, there are ways to avoid them. To get rid of the hot flashes fast, just add a few different things to your daily diet.

Soybeans are rich in several estrogenic compounds such as daidzein and genistein. This helps to control hot flashes. Since the Japanese eat a diet that is abundant in soy, just 7% of women in Japan have hot flashes with menopause. Tofu is especially good for mimicking the activity of women hormones.

Other foods that you should incorporate into your diet are vegetable proteins (instead of animal proteins), tofu, fresh vegetables, magnesium-rich foods, calcium-rich foods, mineral-rich foods, cold-pressed oils, and nuts. Adding sea vegetables to your diet can help replenish electrolytes that are typically lost during excessive perspiration. Drinking plenty of water is essential for this same reason as well.

If you want to avoid getting hot flashes, then you should stay away from certain foods, however, you should also eat other certain foods. When you eat spicy foods, excess sugar, alcohol, caffeine, dairy products, and meat products the triggering of hot flashes, as well as mood swings can be more frequent.

The reason hot flashes get worse when you consume alcohol or caffeine is that this makes acid in the blood and this affects the liver. Smoking will also make worse the effect of hot flashes.

Keeping up a regular exercise regimen is also helpful in controlling hot flashes. Often a woman begins to feel down when she is going through menopause. It reminds you that you're getting older. Exercising daily can keep you fit and toned and makes you feel fabulous, no matter what your age!

You can rise your estrogen levels with regular exercise. It will, at least, make your hot flashes less severe. Exercise also helps reduce the frequency of many of the other negative side effects of menopause like depression, insomnia, fatigue, lethargy, and anxiety.

Never allow menopause to dictate the quality of your life. You can't stop it from occurring, but you can manage how it influences your lifestyle. Changing your lifestyle and diet a little can help you endure this time in your life and end up happier and healthier than ever before.

About the Author:

It doesn't matter how old you are, there's nothing like a healthy diet and exercise if you want to look great. But, after menopause, it is even more important. If you are looking for the best menopausal diet, in my website you can find a lot of articles and info that will help you to understand in a better way this period of your life. web hosting

While GPs recommend diets, pills, and hospital treatments to help cope with enduring symptoms, more and more people have been turning to non-western approaches to help them overcome their problems. Why? Because they work. One alternative technique has been particularly popular for back pain sufferers: yoga.

How it works

Yoga has many varieties, gentle exercises that relax the mind and body, to more challenging types that are psychically demanding and a great workout. Through a combination of poses and breathing techniques, yoga allows you to gain a greater awareness of your body, helping it become more aligned and improving your overall posture.

Osteopaths and yoga experts recommend a gentle yoga style called hatha for back patients, as opposed to the more challenging types such as Bikram and Ashtanga. Hatha involves careful stretches, basic yoga poses, and slow breathing exercises that not only makes a stiff back more flexible, but stronger as well. Hatha yoga also tends to speed up the recovery of back problems such as Sciatica, Osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia, and can help prevent these from developing in the first place.

What you can do

Here are some hatha exercises you can follow to increase your backs strength and flexibility, while soothing some of the worst pain:

1) Begin with some stretches before moving on to the more complicated poses. Get into the Mountain Pose: stand up straight with your feet touching, balancing the weight of your body over the feet evenly. Keep your arms at your sides, slightly pressed into the body. Tighten your buttocks and stomach muscles but maintain a firm posture. Whole holding the pose, breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth.

2) The Crescent Moon Pose: this pose builds up your stamina by strengthening the legs, back, and shoulders. It is best done in two steps:

Kneel down onto your knees and keep a straight back. Take a step forward with your right foot until the foot is a little past your right knee. Keep the leg parallel to the floor.

Hook your thumbs together and stretch your arms high above your head. Then lift your left leg off the floor, stretch it, and divide your weight between the front and back legs. Also be sure not to lift your chest too much " you dont want to have a completely hollow back.

3) The Child Pose: this pose helps you stretch your spine, hips, and thighs, and should help alleviate the psychical and emotional stresses in your body. Carry it out in three steps:

Kneel down to your knees, with the legs slightly parted, and your feet pointing outwards in opposite directions.

Gently place your forehead on the floor in front of you and swing your arms forward, so that your shoulders brush your ears.

With your head still touching the floor, bring your arms around to your sides, with the palms facing upwards.

These traditional ways of healing the body can therefore be a great supplement or alternative to western back treatments. As long as each pose is exercised with caution, hatha yoga can ensure that your mind and body feel better and refreshed.

About the Author:

Andrew Mitchell, clinical editor at the Osteopaths Network, writes papers about musculo-skeletal conditions, drug-free treatment, pain management and how to find a Coventry Osteopath. The word Chakra comes from the Sanskrit, it describes the continual spinning of a wheel or the aural energy sphere within the body of mankind. According to Hindu writings there are something like eighty thousand chakra points within our body. The most essential of chakra points are those that are found along the spinal column and up to the crown of the head and these are the seven chakra points.

The seven chakras involve the root, navel, stomach, the heart, throat, and brow and the crown chakras. These featured chakra points have the ability to transmit and receive energy from the general surroundings as well as those individuals in it and other influential elements of the surroundings. Chakras can influence activities of an individual that deal with emotional, spiritual, intellectual, mystical, psychological and corporeal issues.

Whether you choose a viewpoint of the Hindus mystical understanding of an individual's internal and external experience, Chinese medicine or the explanation of modern psychology of human thought processes and consciousness, however the chakras are distinct yet they all have a common thread that runs with them all concerning their explanations or definitions.

Whether or not we are awake the chakras are in constant motion. This constant activity will influence the structure, appearance, physical disorders, glandular processes as well as our thoughts and deeds. However, if there is a chakra malfunction in one or more points that can be brought on by various reasons an imbalance will develop which will make itself known in other areas of our being.

This happens because all the seven major chakras correspond with the associated endocrine gland within our body. When there is any type of imbalance in the functioning of a chakra it influences our emotional and physical processes and then reveals a disorder in the normal pattern of behavior or activity by means of the endocrine gland it associates with.

Maintaining the Balance of Chakra Using the above as our point of beginning, we can assume safely that the majority of our ailments and illnesses are related to our chakras. Even though there may not be enough materialization of imbalance or illness, there may yet be concerns or emotions that come from our childhood that influence us spiritually, emotionally and physically.

One of the biggest causes of chakra imbalance is the repressed or forgotten emotional baggage we carry due to those past traumatic experiences. Many individuals habitually bury their bad memories into their subconscious, unaware that these emotional toxins that are buried inside them will influence their bodies on a cellular level. Therefore, it is essential to deal with emotional baggage once and for all in order to maintain a proper balancing of the chakras which ignites a healing process to begin on the physical self.

Our Body deserves Chakra Healing. By making use of such techniques as color therapy, aromatherapy, Reiki healing and balancing the chakras while using crystals, gemstones or a pendulum we can influence our chakras directly.

The physical and breathing exercises that are performed in yoga is beneficial in maintaining the balance of the charkas of the body, many individuals enjoy attending yoga exercise classes.

There are other methods of chakra healing, they are meditation to keep the mind focused on a thought, awareness or object for a specific amount of time, a guided visualization which can be done while using CDs or audio tapes in order to encourage relaxation techniques and natural healing in order to reduce stress while promoting relaxation and harnessing mind power.

Chakras work unaided to maintain our body although we cannot touch or see our chakras.

For there to be chakra balance the body must be nourished in order to enjoy optimal health. The seven major chakras benefit from specific foods that help to maintain balance.

The root chakra takes nourishment from spices, protein rich food and root vegetables. Companies and businesses all discovered a profitable niche, and started promoting every organic product they could think of. Saturated with all sorts of organic items, the market is now filled with organic clothing, organic coffee, produce, and even organic food for dogs. Is buying organic really as important as advertisers make us think it is? Let's take a closer look at organic buying.

Organic usually refers to the way agricultural fibers and foods are grown, produced and processed. Organic meat, eggs, poultry and dairy come from animals that were given no antibiotics and hormones. Organic produce means that it was grown without the use of chemicals and conventional pesticides.

Many pesticides and chemicals, which are used in producing non-organic products, are harmful to humans and animals. A number of people develop allergies to these chemicals because of overexposure and don't even know it. They spend thousands of dollars on doctors and medication and continue eating the same products.

If you take a look a the food labels in organic juices and baked goods, you'll find they typically have fewer ingredients than the non-organic items. This is because they don't contain the preservatives and chemicals that are put into non-organic foods to help them last longer. I don't feel comfortable putting anything in my mouth that I can't pronounce. If you haven't taken a look at the food labels on non-organic products, give it a try. Then research some of the items you find in the ingredients to see what they actually are and what problems they can cause. If you are like me, you will be quite surprised, and will want to switch to a healthy organic alternative.

Another benefit of organic products is that they are better for the environment. Organic farming means less toxic chemicals are released into the ground. With problems like global warming, air pollution, and water pollutions, buying organic can help with these problems.

Many people report that they feel that organic fruits and vegetables taste better than the non-organic alternatives. Even though taste is subjective, most people agree that the taste of chemicals, pesticides, and preservatives isn't good. Try tasting an organic apple, and see the difference for yourself. You will likely never want to go back to buying conventionally grown apples ever again.

Organic food is also higher in vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting antioxidants, making it a more nutritious alternative to the foods that are conventionally grown.

Everyone should try to buy organic products to better protect our health and the earth. If you don't want to spend the extra money for organic products, or put extra efforts into finding affordable organic items, consider the long-term benefits. They far outweigh the short-term costs, and your investment will pay off in the end.

Actually, organic doesn't have to mean expensive. There are many ways to get organic food cheap, so if you know how and where to shop, buying organic may actually save you money. Also, there are some conventional fruits and vegetables, which have very low pesticide levels and therefore are not too bad for your health. So there is no need to buy everything organic, although it wouldn't hurt.

About the Author:

Save yourself time and hassle and visit my Organic Benefits Blog, where you will find many organic recipes and tips on how to buy organic on a budget. Most men don't have a defined upper body and desire one that is firm and well sculpted just as their female counterparts do.

To build muscles, it is more effective to focus your workout on working the muscles instead of the up or down movement of the weight. For a more directed concentration, knowing something about the muscles in the chest that need to be worked will help. Understanding what muscles are in your chest and how they work to shape the overall look and fitness of your chest will help in building them.

In the chest area there are two main muscle groups, the pectoralis major and the pectoralis minor. The pectoralis major is the group of muscles on top, the ones that are mostly visible and the pectoralis minor lie towards the top of chest near the shoulder beneath the pectoralis major muscles. Many will think that you should focus your attention on just the pectoralis major muscles but if you develop the pectoralis minor muscles you stand to push the major ones forward making them look bigger.

The chest muscles enable you to cross your arms and to an extent your shoulders, too, in front of the body. Like all muscles, they contain fibers. To exercise them effectively, you need to target them from different directions, because the fibers do not grow in the same direction.

To add build and definition to the upper torso there are two types of exercises that target these muscles. These are known as presses and flys. Although presses involve more than one muscle group, namely the shoulders and triceps and is therefore called a compound movement, the flys are more effective for isolating the chest and adding bulk. Exercises such as presses that involve weights help you to maximize not only your energy but your time as well. Flys, on the other hand, do involve more than one joint movement but are not call a compound exercise. When doing presses you move the weight away from the body by straightening the arms. Flys require you to begin with your arms stretched out to the side so that the body forms a "T" then the arms come together in the front of the body.

The press exercises that you are going to be doing most of are flat bench presses which are considered to be the best and most effective way to build chest muscles. If you change the position of your hands on the bar you can affect different parts of your chest. Wide spread of the hands affects the outer chest while a more narrow spread of the hands affects the inner part of the chest. An incline press helps to target the upper chest while a decline press targets the lower chest. If you have no spotter and are at the gym, make use of the various press machines to help keep you safe.

In order to target the chest using the fly exercises you will need to alternate between using the dumbbells and the cables, both of which effectively target the chest muscles. To exercise the whole chest you will use a flat bench. However, when focusing on the upper chest with fly exercises you need to do them on an incline. For the lower part of the chest, the exercise must be done on the decline. It is advisable that you begin by doing 3 sets of 10-15 reps in each set.

You will have to decide the number of sets/reps/weight that is best for you to build chest muscles. Generally try to do 3 sets with 10-15 reps on each exercise. Try to pyramid them in such a way that you use the early set to warm you up for the heavy set that is your middle one and then follow that heavy set with a cool down set. Increase the amount that you lift gradually. Each repetition will be more effective if you do each motion slowly. You may find out by doing each motion slower you will be able to use less weight but don't be discouraged, you will be getting the best workout possible. All of this will go a long way in your efforts to build large chest muscles.

About the Author:

To get more excellent information about ways to build your pectoral muscles, go to grow muscle without lifting weights : upper torso and for building muscles in general, to the main building muscle site at growmymuscles.com
