Do you know that there’s a simple trick you can do to increase your blog traffic from Google? It’s an SEO trick that is so simple that very few bloggers realized or taught.

If you are using Google Analytics to track your blog traffic, you’ll get lots of information about where your traffic comes from. If you don’t know Google Analytics, it is a very useful free tool to track your blog traffic and increase your Search Engine Traffic.

If your blog is around PR2 and have more than 50 blog posts, you’ll realized that you are getting 10-20 visitors everyday from keywords you aren’t even aiming to rank for. I call these traffic untargeted traffic from Google. When someone typed in a keyword that is not so popular and no one is ranking for, they will choose the webpages that has the most relevant content and rank them on the first few pages.

Your blog post probably is one of them. When people click on the link to your site, you get the traffic. Should you ignore all these “Luck-Based Traffic” or try to get more of them?

For me, I choose to go for it because 50% of my traffic of one of my blog came from some of these “Untargeted Keywords”. If I optimize that page, I could double or triple my traffic. So, I did a study and realized that these traffic are important because:

1. There are people search for it! There are real people who are search for it, it means there’s a demand for that piece of knowledge. Publish a post for that will not just help that person, it helps blog readers who have the same question but didn’t get to ask. Your blog readers will thank you too.

2. If someone search it once, more people might search for it. By ranking for this keyword, you will get some future traffic from Google. It has the potential to grow huge and popular too.

These keywords give me lots of Google Traffic to all my blogs everyday. So, I worked on a Strategy to Harvest these traffic effectively. And I’m going to share my Strategy with you here:

Step 1: Read your Google Analytics keyword information. Read all of them and see which one is related to your blog topic. Copy and paste them on a word processor.

Step 2: Use each of those keywords to write an article. The title must contain the keyword and repeat the keyword in your Article Body a couple times.

Step 3: Make sure you have your permalink structure changed to “/%category%/%postname%”. Add Recent Post” in your widget and Install “All-in-one SEO Pack” plugin.

If you want to go further, you can create a link on your sidebar or footer that links to that post with your keyword.

Hope this post helps you in doubling your Google Traffic. Have fun and get ready for Christmas!

Yesterday’s post, I shared about Article SEO which is a method you can start harvesting traffic from the search engines within days. Today, I’m going to reveal 6 other different shortcuts you can get traffic from Google within days too. These SEO Shortcuts are:

1. Articles

I write details about it at Article SEO- A Fast And Lazy Way To Get Traffic From Search Engines. By submitting article with some On-Site SEO, you’ll get lots of traffic with articles which are submitted to EzineArticles.com

2. Video

Do you know Google Bots love to watch videos?

I’m just joking. They can’t watch videos but many Google users love to watch videos. Google thinks that videos are high quality contents. By submitting a video to YouTube with the keywords in your video title and description, you are able to get to the first page very fast.

If it’s not going up, build some backlinks with social bookmarking sites!

3. Forum

There are many Popular Forums which have high PageRank. When you start a new forum post (called Thread), it will rank high if you have the keywords in your title and article too.

4. Guest Posting

If some bloggers accept contribution or guest post, use keywords in title and the article body. Since these blogs have high PR, that page is going to rank high too. If your article is good and able to attract people to read and click on the link within your article, you’ll get traffic to your blog!

5. Squidoo

This strategy will be the same as what you are going to do with your articles which are submitted to EzineArticles.com. It used to be a very effective trick because Google rank Squidoo page high. However, Google had made some adjustments on their system which makes this trick not so effective. You can help its ranking by building some links too.

6. Hubpages

This is quite similar with Squidoo. The website is at HubPages.com.

7. Google Adwords

This could be the fastest technique (within minutes). It doesn’t require much time to write an article or create a video too. However, it is not free but it will be very cheap if you did it the right way!

Do you know that it takes more than a month to start getting traffic from the search engines? If you are experienced in SEO, you probably know that it takes time for you to build links and rank for a keyword. If you need traffic real fast from the search engines, is there a faster and lazier way?

Yes, there is. You can start with Article SEO. It is a good start!

First, you do a keyword research for keywords which have more than 50 searches per day. Next, write an article with your keywords in your article title. Lastly, repeat your keywords around 10 times in your article and submit it to EzineArticles.com

Once the article is approved, people will get to reach the article on Google. People will read your article. If you created enough desire for them to click on the link and go to your blog, you’ll receive traffic from that article. Once you finish submitting an article, submit more! Write and submit 10 - 20 articles.

This strategy works because EzineArticles is an authority site. It is has PR6 for its main page and many high PR webpages on their website. When there’s a new article approved, they will show that article on their main page for a short while to get that page indexed fast. When the webpages with your article is indexed, it became searchable in the search engines and it will start to get traffic. Some high PR webpages from EzineArticles will also link to your article which allows you to get more traffic.

The downside of this strategy is not all the readers of your article will go to your blog. From my experience, I get an average of 200 or more people read my articles but only 40 – 60 people click on the link and come to my blog. Other readers might have gone to click on EzineArticles’ Ads or read other articles.

Try out this strategy and you’ll know what I’m talking about. It is fun and easy. It probably takes you less than an hour.

This post does not represent any message from Google

Yes, who else want to leverage Google to generate lots of traffic? Would you like to share some of Google’s traffic?

Do you know that Google is receiving the second most traffic in the world? Yahoo is still the website that receives the most traffic in the world. However, getting traffic from Google is much easier than Yahoo. And when you know how to get traffic from Google, you’ll know how to get traffic from Yahoo as well.

There are almost 200 million searches on Google every single day. It means Google are giving more than 200 million visitors for FREE to websites in the world. You don’t need to even generate your own visitors. All you need to do is just be the one who is ready to receive a very small portion from that 200 million search queries.

Looks easy right?

If you think it’s easy, you might get disappointed very soon like how I get disappointed too. Although there are 200 million searches per day, there are billions of other websites which are waiting to receive that traffic as well. If you want to leverage Google and get lots of traffic, you need to have the skill and knowledge to do so.

In this post, I’m going to share with you some basics. If you want to Leverage Google For Traffic, there are 2 strategies. There’re lots of methods but most of them will be boiled down into these 2: Content and Money.

1. Content Strategy

Content strategy might looks like a stranger to you. It is called with a different term- SEO (Search Engine Optimization). You create very good content that people love to read. If you have such contents on your blog or website, Google will rank your blog and blog posts high in the search engine. Other website owners will link to your blog and recommend it to Google too.

I separated these Blog SEO strategies into 2 parts: On-Blog and Off-Blog. On-Blog is the internal setting to get Google thinks that you have lots of quality content on your blog. Off-Blog is the external things you do to get other websites to recommend your blog to Google which involves link building and some web 2.0 stuff.

You can learn On-Blog SEO at 15 Secrets To Maximize Your Blog SEO Traffic

Off-Blog SEO at Complete Link Building Guide For Blog SEO

2. Money Strategy

Money strategy is related with Google Adwords. It is a way that you don’t need good content and links to Leverage Google for traffic. Google Adwords is not a very popular traffic strategy for most Internet Marketers because you need to take cash out from your pocket. However, 9 out of 10 successful Internet Marketers used Google Adwords to drive insane amount of traffic instantly.

SEO requires good content, links and time to get traffic. Google Adwords don’t!

All you need is to be skillful with Adowrds and spend some money. You’ll get thousands of visitors within minutes at few cents per visitors. I apologize for not being able to talk more about it because I’m not an authority in this topic. Recently, I just decided to spend some money and time to learn Adwords too. Will share with you once I get to drive lots of traffic at a low price.

Practice these methods and be skillful with them and Google will give you lots of free traffic!

Link Building is very important if you want to rank high for keywords in the search engines. If you’ve read “How Google Rank Blogs and Sites” on my blog, Links are like “votes” to Google. The more votes you get from other websites, the higher Google will rank. Because your blog get lots of votes and Google think that your content have high quality and will help the users.

I used to publish a post about Link Building. But I’m going to go more in-dept for a better understanding about link building and how it works with Blog SEO.

Here’re the 10 Most Complete Link Building Strategies. It might be very new to you because I created these strategies myself.

1. More Links

Like what I said, Links are like Votes to Google. The more links your blog has, the higher your blog will rank on the search engines. This includes Yahoo, MSN and Search too. So, remember to build a lot of links!

I personally have around 3,000 link building resources that you can build lots of links to your blog. I’m going to share some with you here:

1000 Web Directories For Link Building
900 Article Directories
Dofollow Blogs

2. Different Websites

Besides having lots of links to your blog, it is also important to have these links come from as many websites as possible. Let’s do a case study here:

Blog A: 1000 links from 2 websites

Blog B: 500 links from 500 different websites

Which blog do you think will rank higher?

The answer will be Blog B. Remember I mentioned about Links are like “Votes” to Google. Blog A has 2 people voting them 1,000 times but Blog B has 500 people voting them for one times. It is obvious and we can say that Blog B has content with higher quality.

When people realized that Google is using backlinks to judge a website, these people create few websites and created hundreds of links to their main site. So Google has adjusted their system to recognize these issues. If you are having too much links from a couple of websites, there’s a high possibility that your blog will get penalized (locked in the Google Jail).

3. Keyword Links

If your link to your blog is something like these: your-blog.com, Click here, Your Blog Title or Your Name. Your blog is not going to rank high for your keyword. If you are trying to rank for “Weight Loss”, make sure you have your link like this: Weight Loss. If you have many links which are “Weight Loss”, your blog will rank higher for that “Weight Loss”.

4. Links Mixing

If all you have keywords in ALL your blog’s backlink, will your blog rank higher?

Nope. You will get your blog penalized.

The reason is simple! Let’s go back to the ‘Vote’ theory. If your blog is talking about weight loss, do you think everyone will vote your blog for “Weight Loss”?

No. People might vote for you “Weight Loss Tips”, “Natural Weight Loss”, “Weight Loss Stories” or just vote something weird. The votes will not be 100% the same. If all votes are “Weight Loss”, there’s a high possibility that you have told them to do so.

This strategy tells you to mix your links with other words besides your main keywords. You could use your name, blog name or secondary keywords to mix your main keyword. If you want to rank fast and looks natural, just make sure more you have your main keywords around 60% and mix the other 40% with other words.

5. One-Way Links

Few years ago, many Internet Marketers get to know that Google use links to rank websites. Some of them start using “Link Exchange Strategies” to build hundreds and thousands of links to their websites. What they did was contacting other website owners and requested these owners to link to them, and they link to the owners in return.

By exchanging links with thousands of websites, they are able to get thousands of links to their website. Link exchange is something like “I vote for you and you vote for me, so both of us can fool Google!” Google immediately caught that and give very low value to these exchanged links or reciprocal links.

Focus most of your effort to build one way links with the link building resources I’ve shared with you. Avoid link exchanging with other people.

6. Interlinking

Do you know that links from your own blog posts to another blog posts will increase the ranking?

Although it’s not going help a lot, you’ll increase the chance of those blog posts being searched from Google. Doing it manually might be too much work. Here are 2 things you can help your blog to do good interlinking on autopilot:

Install a similar post plugin. It will look something similar when you scroll down the post. You’ll get to see my blog will pull out 5 other blog posts that are similar to this blog posts.

Have your best posts on your sidebar. By having your best articles on your sidebar and linking to them, each of your blog pages will link to your best articles. Their chances of appearing on Google will be higher.

7. Natural Growth

After reading some Link Building Strategies from other websites, I used to jump in front of my computer and build 50-100 links right away. That passion and hope ended up with disappointment. My website didn’t rank for the keyword I want after months.

I used to blame Google and now I know the reason. My website got penalized by unnatural growth of links. Just imagine that no one is linking to a website for months. Out of a sudden, 50 to 100 websites are linking to this website everyday. Do you think it’s suspicious?

If you are going to build links for SEO, remember to build your links naturally. If you just bought a domain name for less than one year, start with 10 links per day. After one year, you can increase to 20 links per day. If your domain name has been more than one years old, start with 10 links per day for few months and increase it to 20 links per month.

Make those links grow natural as it looks like more people get to know your blog and slowly start to recommend it.

8. Deep Linking

Deep linking is about creating links to other blog posts beside your main page.

If all your links are pointing to the same page of your blog and no other places, the links look artificial and suspicious to Google. There’s a possibility that your blog will get penailized. Linking to other blog posts on your blog will not only make your links look natural, it will help other blog posts from your blog to rank high in Google too.

9. Nofollow Links

Nofollow links might be something new to you because it wasn’t very popular last 2 years. Nofollow links are links that Bloggers or Websites Owners don’t want Google to count as a link. If you typed in your name and blog url when you comment on a blog, there will be a link to your blog when your comment is approved.

However, this link is not a normal link. It is a nofollow link that Google don’t count it as a link to your blog. Many people think that these links doesn’t help their blog in ranking at all.

The fact is Nofollow links does help ranking. The value of a nofollow link is not as high as a dofollow link. However, nofollow links are important because it makes links to your blog natural. With a combination of nofollow and dofollow links, your blog won’t get penalized easy.

You can build nofollow links by commenting on other blogs everyday.

10. Link Checking

Do you check your links often? You can use this tool or simply go to Yahoo.com and type “link:your-blog-domain.com”

The reason of doing this is to monitor your link’s growth. If there’s a sudden increase of your links, you might need to slow down a bit to avoid penalization.

Hope this Link Building Guide will help you in getting lots of traffic from Google and other search engines. My hand is quite tired now and I think I should stop Thanks for reading!

If you are struggling for traffic, what you are going to read will be very important. Most people are getting very little traffic for their blogs because they are not effectively leveraging others to get traffic.

“Huh? Leveraging others?”

This might be something new. What you’ve been learning about traffic are probably “Traffic Generation Strategies” and not “Traffic Leveraging Strategies”. Leveraging traffic is very different way to increase blog traffic.

There are thousands of websites who are getting millions of traffic everyday. You don’t need to generate another new visitor. All you need to do is just get these website owners to redirect some of their traffic to your blog willingly.

Does this looks interesting?

These are the few ways of leveraging other websites to get massive traffic to your blog.

1. Leverage Google

Google is the world largest search engines which handle an average of 200 million searches per day. Imagine 1000 of those search queries lead to your blog, do you think that you’ll get lots of traffic?

That’s the reason why SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is such a hot and popular demand from most Internet Marketers and Bloggers. With SEO, they are able to direct part of their traffic into their own blog. By applying SEO strategies on their blog, they’ll get traffic from other search engines such as Yahoo and MSN too.

Besides SEO, Google Adwords is also another popular traffic strategy. It is a popular strategy not because people like to pay Google, but another way of leveraging Google for traffic. Instead of providing good content and build backlinks, they get to leverage Google for traffic instantly with cash from their own pocket. This strategy are used by such as Armand Morin, Ewen Chia, Mike Dillard and many other popular Internet Marketers.

2. Leverage Popular Websites

There are many success stories from people who leverage popular websites for traffic. One of the couple who manage to achieve great success with leveraging popular websites are Carlos and Lucia Lupe. They manage to get more than 50 million of visitors in a month. Does that sound scary to you?

“Oh my gosh! What have they done to get more than 1 million visitors per day?”

They leverage most of the Top 10 popular websites in the world with Effective Advertising. What they did was creating lots of different banner ads, landing page and sales page. After testing and knowing the best versions, they used it and advertise with Yahoo, MSN, Myspace and many other popular websites. They get some of their traffic from popular websites owner who got a huge list of subscribers too.

Another way of leveraging popular websites besides using Advertising is “Write Good Content”. If you create a piece of content that popular websites want it badly, they will get your content on their website with a link to your blog. This is another success story from a blogger who get thousands of visitors in a day after blogging for a month.

3. Leverage Blogs

Would you like to have popular blogs to give you some free traffic? There are a few steps to achieve this goal:

Step 1: Publish extremely good content on your blog that gives people a WOW experience. Of course, there are many ways to create good content but let’s just stick to WOW here.

Step 2: Comment on other blogs to build relationship with other bloggers. You have to build relationship with both A-List and B-List bloggers because you’ll never know when the B-List bloggers become popular.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 often. When these bloggers know you well and like your content, they will write a summary of your content and post it on their blog with a link to the original (which is your blog).

Another way to get blog traffic from bloggers is through Guest Posting. Bloggers are always thinking of providing new content on their blog. If you are able to create fresh contents for them and their readers, they will be very grateful for that. All you need to do is just include a link to your blog in that guest post. When you reach a popular blog, read if there’s a link to “Guest Post” or “Contribute”.

4. Leverage Forums

Join a forum and help out forum members by answering their questions. Start interesting and good forum threads with a link to your blog at the signature area. When your forum threads turn into a hot topic or sticky post, you’ll get lots of traffic to your blog.

Popular forums get lots of traffic from the search engines too. So, you are leveraging the search engines a bit at the same time too.

Stephen Pierce used to create a hot discussion at Warrior Forum and he got the attention of the owner. The owner gets his forum thread on the sticky post which all members will get to see the thread on the first page.

5. Leverage Social Bookmarking Sites

Make friends with Social Bookmarkers at Stumble Upon, Digg, Sphin or Del.icio.us. You can do this through blog commenting because many bloggers are social boomakers too.

Publish contents that are jaw-dropping, ground breaking, heart warming, inspiring, interesting, funny or high value. When they find your post interesting, they will bookmark your post. This will get another 100 stumble upon users to read your post. If they find the content awesome and well written, they will bookmark it and probably lead to another thousand of free visitors.

Vic is one of the most successful blogger with this strategy who get more than 2,000 RSS readers for his “Blogger Unleashed” in a few months. He might not be using this strategy intentionally (not very sure about this). His videos on his blog are funny, interesting, jaw dropping and very helpful to everyone.

6. Leverage Social Networking Sites

You can spend money to advertise with Social Networking sites and get lots of traffic. However, there’s another way to sneak through this process and redirect traffic from these sites.

Do you know that there are Myspace users who have thousands of friends? Some people have special abilities to attract and make lots of friends on Myspace.

Add them as friends and build a strong relationship with them. Make sure they are someone who are interested in your topic. Remember to stand out from the crowd because they have thousands of friends.

Don’t promote your blog to them immediately. Wait till the day you think he/she is ready, send them a message about your blog (but remember not to pitch). Share with them the inspiring reason you started this blog and the difference you want to make to others. If you have something really special, he might post a bulletin message and many people will go to your blog.

Another way is to buy advertisement space from popular users. I know there are some popular members who modify their myspace background and are ready to sell ad space to you.

7. Leverage Video Sites

Heard of YouTube?

Of course, you’ve heard of it. It’s the largest video directory which anyone can share videos right there. There are few ways to leverage the traffic of YouTube:

Method #1: Video SEO

Google likes videos recently. By uploading a video with keywords in your video title, you are able to get on the first page of Google for low competition keywords. You’ll receive lots of traffic from this video if many people are searching for that keyword on Google. This is another way of leveraging both Google and YouTube.

Method #2: Popular Video Creators

Pay popular video creators to create video that promotes your blog in an interesting way. They might have thousands of users who subscribe to their video updates. Everytime they upload a new video, their subscribers will be notified and watch their video.

Method #3: If you think you are cool…

Create your own funny and interesting video. When you have your video shared on many websites and blogs, you are going to receive lots of traffic.

8. Leverage Successful Marketers

This might be one of the BEST Traffic Leveraging Strategy. The reason is simple: Successful marketers have a huge list of subscribers. If they found a great blog, it is very likely that they are going to recommend the site to their subscribers.

However, they usually don’t do things that won’t benefit them as well. You can start making friends with them first. Next, create an ebook or other digital products which contain a link to blog. Promote your affiliate program and give them a high commission (more than 60%). When they promote this product to their subscribers, some of them will buy and come to your blog for more updates about product related information.

The visitors that come with this method are high quality traffic because they are buyers who paid for the products. They are not visitors who are trying to grab freebies around the net. The only requirement to be successful with this method is that you must an expert who are able to create great products.

9. Leverage Article Directories

This is still one way to leverage traffic although the competition is much tougher. When you submit good articles to Article Directories such as EzineArticles.com, website owners might get your article and publish on their website. When visitors reach their websites and read your article, some of them will click on the link and reach your blog.

Many website owners no longer do that because everyone can hire free lance writers at a very cheap price. All they need to do is pay a fee as low as $5 to get an original article. Another reason they are not using this method is because there are lots of duplicated or crappy content on article directories.

Some Article Marketers will just rewrite the same article many times (that used to be me) and submit these similar articles to the directory. The quality is no longer there. However, there are excellent articles there too. Some articles are published on more than 20 different websites. I used to get many of my articles published on more than 10 websites. I got lots of traffic from them.

10. Leveraging Offline Media

When you are doing well online, try out offline. Although there’re lots of big guys out there leveraging the offline media, you can be the one of them too. I haven’t done this before. However, Joe Vitale shared one of his very successful story about how he leverages offline media.

He has very special reputation and qualification that a TV show decided to do an interview with him. After the interview, the show revealed his website. His sales skyrocket overnight.

You can use press releases by hiring a good journalist and write something really special about your company and have it on the newspaper. You can try what Yaro Starak did too, which is going on the radio. These are ways you are able to achieve great results with less money.

There are much more Traffic Leveraging Strategies but I realized that this post is getting too long. Hope you enjoy the strategies and use them to get more blog traffic.

Hi Successful Blogger (Ya, you!)

Last 2 weeks, I decided to take up a Google Adword home study course with an expert that cost me more than $1000. Those who know me very well says “You’re crazy. Since you are good in SEO, why are you learning Google Adwords again. Aren’t you diversifying too much?”

Here’re my reason that get me to spend that $1000 even the economy is not so good at this moment:

1. Leverage Google

Many bloggers are using Blog commenting, article marketing, video marketing and forum marketing. It’s free but let’s be honest with the traffic here! How much free traffic are you getting after spending 1 hour with these free traffic strategies?

Average visitors I get with free traffic: 20 visitors/hour

Of course this number will double after a few months. But let’s do a simple calculation here:

If your time worth $5 per hour (I’m sure it’s not that low), it cost you $0.25 to get a visitor. Is this expensive than Google Adwords? How about when your time worth $10 per hour?

With Google Adwords, you can get one visitor for $0.01 to $0.05. You are leveraging Google’s traffic for your own online business. By leveraging Google with money, you’ll get cheaper traffic if your time is important to you.

Of course, there are many people who have plenty of time with very little money. They might be able to work for 8 hours to get 160 visitors per day. After conversion, every visitor might provide $1 to the blogger. How about the Google Adworder?

If he is spending $0.05 for each visitors and getting thousands of visitors per day, who do you think will make more money?

2. Security

There are many Internet Marketers who lose most of their search engine traffic out of a sudden. There might be a day that hundreds of website owners suddenly link to your website and got it penalized or whatever reason that the Algorithm thinks you are messing with Google. How will your business survive? Or how are you going to make money for yourself?

Google Adwords is a form of paying advertising which you will get traffic as long as you pay. There are risks which your blog will get penalized since Google’s Algorithm became more unpredictable. Combining SEO and Google Adwords will secure your income even your blog get penalized.

3. Speed Traffic

How would you like to get traffic within minutes? This is very possible with Google Adwords. If you just started a new online business model or blog that you would like to hit the market before all the competitors start taking advantage of, what is your fast traffic strategy?

SEO takes months to hit the first page, Google Adwords takes minutes. I’m not trying to promote Google Adowrds here, but sometimes it is really important to step ahead of your competitors before they turn the market into something ugly.

Another reason I choose Google Adwords as one of my traffic strategy is most Internet Marketers became successful and are still very successful because they master Google Adwords. We can hardly see any successful Internet Marketer who are generating millions per year know nothing about Adwords.

Google Adwords seems to be a scary method to many bloggers because it is about spending money. Many Internet Marketers wasted money in Google Adwords and that’s the reason I want to learn this method from the expert and get it right fast.

Alright, hope this give you a very clear picture about Google Adword Traffic Strategy. I’ll share with you the results that I get from Adwords soon. Hope you have fun reading my post.

Do you know many SEO advices from “gurus” are completely craps? They might not be getting any traffic from Google and merely copying what others had said. I’ve been in Internet Marketing around 3 years and have been listening to these lousy advices for long time. These advices do no good but getting my site slapped by Google over and over again.

I’m going to reveal these lousy SEO advices to you. It actually takes me days to finally get it done (phew…) Hope you enjoy reading:

1. “Submit lots of articles to EzineArticles, Squidoo Lens and Hubpages with backlinks to your blog.”

If you are trying to rank for a keyword which is very new and the competitors on the first page are at PR0, this method might work. You can use the seoQuake addons to analyze the competition level.

However, websites that are harvesting free traffic on the first page are mostly the ones with hundreds or thousands of backlinks. These advices are mostly from Internet Marketers who want to sell you their article marketing concept or they didn’t reveal the whole truth.

Besides not being to be at the first page, most of your effort and wasted. If you have lots of backlinks from Squidoo, Hubpages and EzineArticles, Google will not give lots of weight for those backlinks because they all came from the same site.

2. “Comment on dofollow blogs and you will rank higher and faster!”

If you are using dofollow blogs to rank for your keywords most of the time, that might be a big mistake. Dofollow blogs will increase the backlinks for your blog. It will help to increase pagerank but not helping much in getting higher rank for your keywords. I used to depend on dofollow blog to get my blog to PR3 but hardly any traffic coming in.

Just imagine the backlinks from these dofollow blogs: I will get “Alex Liu” as my backlink if I use “Alex Liu” to comment on dofollow blogs. This might help me to rank #1 for Alex Liu but not the keywords I want to rank for.

Giving too much comments on dofollow blog will also cause sudden increases in backlinks. Some blogs have “Top commentor” or “Recent comment” on their sidebars. When you happen to be the top commentor or recent comment that shows on the sidebar, all of the pages on that blog will have a link to your blog. You might get an instant 20 or 30 backlinks from this blog. This will get your penalized by Google real fast. I’ve gone into that trap before.

3. “Spend all your time submitting your blog to Web directories and your ranking will increase!”

There are around 3,000 web directories on the internet. If you submit your blog to all of them and have your keyword as a link to your blog, will you be on the first page of Google for sure?

Big mistake! Not all web directories will approve your link even you submit to them. Not all of your submission will be indexed by Google and count that link as a backlink to your blog. I know someone who is selling a software which is able to submit your blog to 2,000 over web directories. It just won’t work. I got less than hundred of backlinks after submitting my blog to 600 directories.

4. “Use Article Submission Software or services to submit your articles to hundreds of article directories and get hundreds of backlinks!”

Oh… Probably another guy was trying to sell you his Article Auto Submission software. Same as web directories. Article Directories are better than Web Directories because the probability of your article being approved is higher. But not all of the page that contains your article will be indexed because:

(a) More than 50% of the article directories have low PR. It takes time for the Google Bots to crawl and index those pages.

(b) When you submit a same article to hundreds of places, Google will only index few of them because they are considered as duplicated content. I got less than 30 backlinks after submitting the same article to thousands of article directories.

5. “Use keywords in all your links instead of your blog name. You’ll rank faster for your keywords!”

If you have ALL your keywords in your backlink like this “keyword”, you have a higher chance of being penalized than ranking on the first page. The reason is simple- The links are too artificial and obvious that someone is trying to manipulate search results.

Google used many factors to rank sites and “backlinks” is one of the most important factor because people link to your website only when they think this website is good or have something to refer. If the words that are used as a link contains the word “blogging”, the site must be something related to blogging. If it’s “traffic”, the site might be good at traffic contents. If all the links have the same keyword with it, doesn’t it look unnatural with some purpose behind it.

Try to mix your backlinks with other keywords. You might choose a second keyword you want to rank for and comment on a couple of dofollow blogs (not too many) to make it look natural.

6. “The faster and more backlinks you built, the faster you’ll reach the first page of Google.”

Sometimes building lots of links very fast get your blog penalized faster. For a brand new domain name which is less than one year old, try to build less than 10 backlinks per day. Google thinks that it is not very possible for a “New Site” to become popular and recommended by lots of people in a short period of time.

If your domain name is more than one year old, don’t rush for hundred backlinks per day. Start with 10 per day for the first month, then 15 link per day and 20 per day. You need to get your backlinks grow slowly. This natural growth of backlinks will make Google think that more people get to know your blog and recommend to others slowly.

7. “Ignore the nofollow blogs. Focus more time to comment on dofollow blogs to get more dofollow backlinks!”

If you are having all your backlinks dofollow mode, Google will think that your backlinks aren’t natural too. Nowadays, more people are using nofollow link to keep their pagerank high. Google also has a system that could track nofollow links. Although nofollow backlinks aren’t as effective as dofollow links, there are still going to help your ranking.

8. “Don’t link to other websites or blogs. Your blog will rank lower because you are giving away your SEO benefits!”

This is true in a way but not 100% truth. If each of your page are linking to many websites, your website might rank lower. I’ve seen websites that have more than 10,000 backlinks and it’s only PR3. However, linking to high authority sites will actually give you a higher ranking. Although this is not proven, many bloggers such as Darren Rowse, Mark Widawer and me believe in it.

9. “The quality of the content is not important than having more keywords on your blog!”

This is not true too. Some Internet Marketers just put a couple of sentence on their blog with keywords all over their blog. Do you think this will make their blog higher than the one with high quality content?

The winner is always the one with high quality content. Although Google Bots still aren’t able to read contents, they have a very complicated system to judge a blog’s content quality. They used LSI, social bookmarking sites, FeedBurner, Google Analytics and even Gmail to judge the quality of the content. Do you know Google know how many RSS readers you have and how high your blog’s bounce rate is?

These are important factors that Google use to judge a website’s content quality and rank sites.

10. “Exchange more links with other bloggers and you’ll rank higher!”

Google just changed their algorithm to give reciprocal links or 2 way links lower weight. Few years back, Internet Marketers used to exchange links with hundreds and thousands of websites. Just imagine that you exchange links with 1,000 websites, you will have 1,000 backlinks from 1,000 different websites.

Google found out and decided to give lower weight to 2 way links. These links are kinda like “I vote for your site and you vote for mine”. However, there are websites that link to each other accidentally. So instead of penalizing or ignoring 2 way links, Google give lower weight to these backlinks.

Alright! There are more lousy SEO advices and SEO lies. I’m going to stop here. Hope this post save you from getting cheated and help you to increase blog traffic with Blog SEO.
