In our usual spirit of open communication, we wanted to share with you some changes that we will be making to the network and its Terms of Use. These changes may not be popular with some, but we are obliged to make these changes to ensure a professional VPN network is insured for our loyal customers.
 

Network Servers

 
We have recently completed an in-depth analysis of network utilisation and found that 95% of the networks use is concentrated around a core of server locations. As a result, we have decided to remove some server locations on the network and concentrate on strengthening locations that are heavily used. This will result in the following servers being phased out during the next 30 days;
 
odessa.tuvpn.com – 26 Feb 2012
kualalumpur.tuvpn.com – 29 Feb 2012
paris.tuvpn.com – 20 Mar 2012
 
Customers with dedicated IPs on these servers will be offered a shared IP account or a dedicated IP on another server location. Please contact our support team (support@tuvpn.com) and they will arrange these changes.
 

Peer to Peer (P2P) Data Transfers

 
As with any ISP, we have on occasion had to respond to, and investigate, network abuse complaints regarding the transmission of copyrighted material across the network. Where these cases of abuse have come to our attention, we have done what we can to stop them, and where possible, close offending accounts. The problem we have is that due to the anonymity built into the network, it is often impossible to isolate these instances of abuse and terminate the account in question.
 
Our Terms Of Use have always been very clear on this subject, "We will not tolerate the use of the Service or the Site to encourage or undertake any illegal activity including without limitation the following: …… transmission of third party content (e.g. by way of peer to peer file sharing) unless you have the owners consent to do so ….. and generally any other activity that may violate any applicable laws ("Prohibited Activities")."
 
It is very unfortunate, but in order to safeguard the network, we must now put in place technical blocks across the entire network that prevents ALL P2P data transfers. This is necessary as we are unable to technically differentiate between a legitimate P2P transfer and one engaged in illegal transfer of copyrighted data.
 
With any business, it is sometimes necessary to step back and take some important decisions/actions that are for the long term good. This is one of those moments for us! Again, we apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

You can find the guide in our tutorials section.

You will first need to install VPNcheck. You can get a free version from this link.

  1. Install the VPNcheck.
  2. Click on the Config button as seen on following screenshot:

     

  3. Select the application you want to protect (so the one you want to be closed if your VPN connection goes down). Click on Add file button and select for example Firefox:



     

  4. There are two check boxes Close and Autorun mark them both and close the window:

     

  5. Activate your VPN session by using TUVPN OpenVPN client. You will see the green icon once you are connected. VPNcheck is monitoring it. Now you can start using Firefox:

     

  6. Right click on the OpenVPN icon and disconnect your VPN. Once it is disconnected your selected application, Firefox in our example, will close automatically, so no browsing without VPN!

     

  7. Release your network by clicking Cycle IP: Network button. Now you can re connect through your OpenVPN client:
