Although any of the steps involved in the outreach process are equally important, the amount of critiques, advice and chatter revolves around the pitch. PR professionals are trying to find the perfect balance between keeping it short and personal, but giving enough information, so the blogger can understand what the opportunity is about. Bloggers are usually complaining that the majority of pitches are poorly written, lack the personal touch and give no relevant information.

What’s to keep in mind is that the success of the pitch does not always rely on itself. Of course, it is extremely important to be well written, to address the bloggers in a friendly, yet professional manner, but if the targeting and research part are poorly handled the pitch loses its relevance. Be sure that nothing dooms a pitch as bad as the lack of relevance does.

Check out our 116th roundup for some great articles that can teach you what to aspects should be considered in order to improve your pitch to bloggers:

Everyone that had to deal at least once with an outreach campaign had to deal with lack of responses and feedback for a campaign. Dave Clark helps us find solutions when we face that situation in his article: What to Do When No One Responds to Your Pitch Emails.

Bloggers’ inboxes are usually very crowded and most of them read pitches in a glimpse. Their eye is already trained to imediately spot those expressions that make them hit the ‚delete’ button. Wanna know which are those words and phrases that will doom your pitch? Read Russell Working article: 20 words and phrases that will doom your pitch.

Look before you pitch! The simplest and most valuable advice possible related to blogger outreach. Don’t ever forget about how important it is to be relevant to those influencers you want to engage in your campaign. It’s a waste of time and effort on both side to pitch bloggers that have nothing to do with your opportunity. Beth Benner gives us some tips on how to be efficient in targeting influencers in her piece: 3 Ways to Micro-Target Your PR Pitches

Easier said than done, you may say and we must admit that we can’t argue the fact that reaching out to bloggers is one of the most complex outreach processes. On one side you have tight deadlines, products to be reviewed, news to share and so on and on the other you have the bloggers that in order to act as true influencers have to keep feeding relevant, interesting and genuine useful information to their audience.

Still, if you learn how to target those bloggers fitted to your niche and which are the best practices to engage with them you’ll be able to develop mutually beneficial partnership with bloggers. Let’s check out the latest tips&tricks about blogger outreach!

Bloggers are key elements in starting viral conversations that can spread information within the beauty and fashion industries. For our 110 roundup we found some interesting articles you should carefully read before starting or continuing your blogger outreach campaigns dedicated to the fashion and beauty online communities:

Are fashion blogs transformed in virtual avenues for brands? According to Macala Wright, „the blurring of lines between earn and paid, lack of transparency when it comes to legal disclosure, and continual desire to monetize everything related to blogs and blog coverage has led to one thing: the bastardization of influence.” Read a great article about today’s state of fashion blogging: Influence marketing is failing in retail.

There is much criticism in fashion blogging and the most of it comes from people disliking the way fashion blogs have evolved. Heather Fonseca gathered some complaints she found on the internet – What’s Wrong with Fashion Blogs?

Some brands understand how to have a mutually beneficial relationship with bloggers, but most of them seem to be missing out on that. Here’s Phyrra’s great article that can help you understand how to communicate with bloggers and show them you value their content: Brand Relationships and Bloggers.

For a partnership with fashion bloggers to work, they have to get something that can drive strong traffic based on quality content. Most of the pitches they receive don’t explain how the partnership is based on a win-win situation. Hilary Rushford offers few skeleton scripts for pitching guest posts and collaborations with fashion blogger.

Dana Forman presents a handful of examples of outreach messages, which she analyses and draws some conclusions we should all keep in mind when pitching fashion, beauty or retail bloggers: Good Outreach vs. Bad Outreach – From a Blogger’s Point of View
