Do you really know what a blog is and what it should do? Even if you have a blog, you may be missing the mark. I see a lot of bloggers out there who are making mistakes that are costing them money. There is a big difference between a
blog and other types of website. Blogs are a way of communicating information but they are also about creating ‘community’.
By paying attention to the quality of the blog you are creating and getting your audience involved, you’ll be able to create a community. When you have a community, you have a ready market of buyers who will be more likely to
purchase from you (or purchase your recommendations if you’re an affiliate marketer).

If you think you can just throw a few articles up on your blog and be done with it, you’re wrong! Standard sites with static article pages don’t create community and they don’t create a ready body of customers. A blogging platform is not
just a substitute for HTML. If you use your blog like a regular site, you’re leaving money sitting on the table.

Not only does your blog need to create community but it needs to be sticky as well.. Stickiness is a term that web publishers use to describe the ability for your blog to bring return visitors.
Let’s face it – there are a lot of websites out there from people to choose from! No matter what topic you choose, there are bound to be tons of other sites on the same topic.
Your goal should be to make your blog stand out and get people coming back for more. When you create your blog and your posts, you have two
specific groups of people you need to be targeting – new visitors and old visitors. New visitors need to be able to instantly tell what your blog is about.

This means that you need to have a tagline at the top of your blog that explains your focus. This statement, displayed under the title of your blog, will give your new visitors an instant snapshot of what you’re about. Make the sign up box
for your RSS feed prominent and you’ll get new subscribers. Your old visitors need to be catered to as well. Keep your content fresh and update your blog frequently. When you think about it, each and every post you make is an
opportunity to lose or keep visitors. Blog readers are fickle. If you don’t provide them with something interesting and exciting to read, they will move on to the next blog on the same topic. You need to approach each blog post with
enthusiasm and a plan.

Now that you know a little about what a blog should be, it’s time to create a plan to develop an exciting, visitor attracting blog that other people will want to link to. The more that other people link to you, the more new traffic you’ll get and the more you’ll have an opportunity to build a relationship with your readers.

The plan for creating a winning blog with traffic pulling articles is as follows:
1. Create an attractive blog
2. Brainstorm a list of traffic worthy topics and create an editorial calendar
3. Write quality posts that are interesting and buzz worthy
4. Polish your work
After you read this post, you’ll be able to quickly and easily bring visitors to your blog again and again. This will give you the potential customer base that you need to market your product or be a successful affiliate for someone else.

These are steps that I’ve used time and time again to create blogs that not only draw traffic but build a real, responsive list of customers. If you aren’t blogging this way, you’re doing it wrong!

Create an attractive blog:
The content on your blog is the most important part of your site. But the package that the content comes in is almost as important. An ugly site with broken links and bad design choices will have visitors leaving as fast as they can.
It doesn’t matter how good your content is if no one sticks around to read it!

Make your blog design choice carefully and you’ll be able to display your content in a clean, easy to read format.
Take a moment to look through some of the most popularblogs online in your niche. Just enter “keyword + blog” into a search engine and take a look at what you see. You’ll instantly be able to recognize the blogs that have the clean,
simple look you should be going for.

The design should be attractive but it shouldn’t take away from the content. It should be easy to read with dark type on a light background.

There are a wide variety of free blog templates available online. There are plenty of simple ones that you can use to create your blog.

Now before you start blogging, you need to create a list of topics that will pull in visitors from around the ‘net. Your blog post ideas should be on topic and also interesting. Look at other blogs in your niche and see if the topics there spark any ideas. I’m not talking about copying other people! It is absolutely wrong to steal other people’s topics. Plagiarism is illegal and it’s not what I’m suggesting at all. I’m talking about using their blogs as a springboard for your own ideas.

For example, you’re blogging in the health niche and you come across a blog with a post titled “5 Ways to Cut Fat from Your Diet.” The blog post has tips on modifying high fat recipes to fit a low fat lifestyle. Obviously, people are looking for ways to cut fat out from their diet. Doesn’t it follow that
they’d be interested in information on what foods to avoid?

You could easily create a blog post about the top ten high fat recipes to avoid. A follow up post would be ten low fat modifications of the high fat recipes you mentioned in the previous post.
You can also brainstorm topics by looking at the list of popular keywords in your niche. Use Wordtracker or another similar tool to find out what people are looking for. Some of the keywords won’t be appropriate for blog posts, but there
will be enough information in your searches to come up with a long list of topics. When you deliver what your market is looking for, you’ll become more and more popular.
Google Alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts/) is a helpful tool that I use to stay up to date on the topics I blog about.

You just enter your keywords and then you get daily or weekly updates on the latest news, blog posts and other information on your topics. This can be a great source of topic ideas and will allow you to stay on top of what is going on in your niche.

Once you’ve gone through these steps, you’ll have gathered a large list of topics to work with. Write them all down in a notepad file so you can refer to them later on. Each week, collect new topic ideas from your Google alerts and other
sites you see around the ‘net. It doesn’t take a whole lot of time to do stay up to date on new topics each week.

Before you even think about publishing your first blog post, you need to create an editorial calendar. This will help guide your posting schedule and give you a cohesive flow to your blog. This is one of the most important things to do in order to make your blog readable and interesting.
You don’t want to publish a post on how to plant a winter garden and then
publish a post on harvesting fall crops.

You don’t have to publish a formal series of topics all the time, but your posts do need to make sense within the order that you publish them.

Now that you’ve got a list of topics to work with, it’s time to actually do the writing. This is where a lot of bloggers come up short. There are clear and simple rules to writing that you need to follow. Blogging is writing, no matter how you look at it. The reason many bloggers don’t have a better following is because they don’t know how to craft a readable post.

The first thing to remember is that your blog is a community tool. That means that you need to write to your audience and not “at” them. Not sure what this means? Basically, you want to write with a tone and an approach that lets people
know you’re interested in their feedback and their comments.

Don’t pretend that you’re some type of untouchable expert that can’t be questioned. Ask questions and encourage feedback from your readers. The minute you pretend that you know better than everyone else, you’re going to lose
your readership. You’re simply a conduit for information.

Bloggers that pretend to be more than that lose readers pretty fast. Remember, you’re not up on a pedestal. Your blog is a place to build a community who looks to you for leadership.

The title of your blog posts are going to be an important factor in how much traffic you get. Use your keywords in your title but also make it interesting and “buzz worthy.”

One of the best ways to get blog traffic is to get other people to link to your blog, or have links to your posts distributed around the ‘net. If your post titles are interesting and catchy, you’ll get lots of this type of traffic. For
example, instead of titling your blog post “How to Fix Your
Credit”, use “5 Quick Credit Fixes to Boost Your Score in 60 Days.” See the difference?

There are a few tried and true types of blog posts that will work every time. If you’re hard up for how to change your topics from the previous step into workable blog posts, look at the following list to get some ideas:

Create a list:
Not only does this tactic give you an easy way to organize your content, but list posts are often bookmarked and distributed by your readers. Create a top
ten list on an important topic in you niche and you’ll see traffic coming in from the social bookmarking sites.
Write a How to:
Sharing a how to article on a helpful topic is another good way to get bookmarked and shared. If you have special insight on a particular topic, share it on your
blog. Make sure you’re offering something unique and special and not just rehashing what other people have written on the topic.
Tell a story:
Anyone can write a blog post on a popular topic, but you can make yours stand out by telling a story. If you’ve had personal experience with the topic you can share
your experience, which invites others to share their own
experiences in your comments section.
Interview someone:
Blogs are a great promotional tool for product creators and authors. If someone in your niche has a product coming out, you can interview them. You get free content, and they get free advertising.

Above all, you need to involve your readers. Ask their opinion at the end of the article or pose a question that people can answer in the comments section. Keep repeating to yourself that blogging is community building.

Look for different ways to get the audience involved by holding contests, having polls and asking for direct feedback. When you take these steps, your blog will soon become the “place to be” online for your niche.

After browsing and searching through out the internet today Feb 2012, I found these useful PR7 -9 websites with forums.

You don’t realy have to post anything or comment as the search engine spiders scan the site for all links and yours will come up as one because it’s in your profile on that site.

I have loads of links like this pointing to diferent keywords and my sites and have never posted or commented on any post. I am only interested in Page rank, once that is high then traffic will come nuturally. I know it is slightly a longer way but so much worth in the end.

Yes you can post and comment if you want, this way you may have visitors to your site quicker.

Many people like myself, some how have been banned from google adsence, (Not a fault of our making) so sign up to other CPA networks and affiliate programs to advertise stuff for a commistion of the sale.

Being a affiliate of Amazon is great as well. I must mention that if you are using a free blogging platform then you cannot place your ads, but can do link texting. In otherwords, you type in a word in your post that is relevant to something you sell.

E.G. If I am a affiliate to selling handbags and the company gave me a affiliate code. Then if I am blogging about different handbags available online then a few times I would highlight the word “hand bag” and place a link on it to my affiliate coded link.

Speaking about social networks, in what ever topic you are blogging about, there are ton’s of waiting potential vistors to your site on these networks.

How do we reach them?

Check out the Groups on these networks like Facebook, google and google+.

Join these groups in your niche topic and make friends with relevant converstion, don’t at first mention your blog. If your conversations are good then over time start to mention about you blog and post link to it. If it has relevent free good information it will go viral and that’s the ultimate for all bloggers to atchieve.

Also be precise, clear and interesting in what you write. Don’t break important information in the paragraphs because a person may tend to lose the link and in the bargain lose interest as well. Speaking of paragraphs, try and make relevant paragraphs, so that they link together and mke sense. If changing to new subject allways give notice of this.

Just writing only a simple article will make the article dull and boring. Make it interesting by adding visual elements to it. This visual content will Describe your what you are writing about and it looks attractive,and easier for the reader to grasp. Sometimes your sentence may not make all the sense to the reader, but the picture
 will give a clear idea of what you want to convey to the reader.

Depemding what your blog is about, write posts on whatever you wish to share, and do so in a creative and fresh way. Most online readers scan content. Hence, visual cues like corresponding images to text, alongside content will be a great way of ensuring focus on important points. Great content will have people coming back for more each time you update content, if you work on it with diligence.

A simple technique for great blog content is choosing the images you include on the blog, in such a way that readership increases. Images communicate more effectively than words sometimes.

Make a slow and steady start:

Develop a style that is all your own. Stay within the general acceptable practices of blogging and develop a content style that makes the blog content stand apart. When I started, there were many times when I was racked for content Ideas. I had to ask my self this question,

1. What and who am I blogging for.  In other words, what is my purpose here.

Once I answered that question, I had a a direction to follow.      

Because I am in the Niche markeing field with helping others to succeed, and make money while doing it, then I need to supply my readers with content they will find in one place, not having to search the web for bits here and there and if needed to purchase, that purchase will be from my blog/site. So that I get the commision for that sale as payment for my hard work.

Add, innovation to your scripts. Through brainstorming you can come up with unique ideas. These will help you to set trends, but remember to give authentic information that has relevance. Analyze your work to add something new. Original and compelling content always wins a good audience. A spin on any old topic is also a good idea to rejuvenate it and present it in a more appealing form. All of these can display your unique witting skill in your blogs

A very good way to get good content for your blog, is head over to ebay and check out the e-books on your topic that sell with private label rights, which simply means that have the right to use for various digital products such as articles, ebooks and graphic templates etc. They cost pennies to the dollar.

Buy some and you will find some great content there that you may have to change slightly to make it yours. I submit articles to Street Article Directory and they are very strick with oridginal content articles, and with this method of getting content, my articles have never being rejected, and I am in a very competitive market, ie. A dash of humor really revitalizes your writing. Keep a loose reign on your sense of humor. A witty post can grab the immediate attention of your readers and hook them on. You will find that in no time your readers will comment and link to the post. This way you not only get plenty of links, but also can self promote your work to form your network.

Feedbacks are necessary even in blogosphere. Once you have bagged a good number of readers for your blogs, then you have to devote time religiously to respond to all comments and suggestions coming from the readers. You will not only gain their loyalty, but also get new ideas for developing some innovative content for your next posts. If you’ve read anything about or studied Search Engine Optimization, you’ve come across the term “backlink” at least once. For those of you new to SEO, you may be wondering what a backlink is, and why they are important. Backlinks have become so important to the scope of Search Engine Optimization, that they have become some of the main building blocks to good SEO. In this article, we will explain to you what a backlink is, why they are important, and what you can do to help gain them while avoiding getting into trouble with the Search Engines.

What are “backlinks”? Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also known as Inbound links (IBL’s). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

When search engines calculate the relevance of a site to a keyword, they consider the number of quality inbound links to that site. So we should not be satisfied with merely getting inbound links, it is the quality of the inbound link that matters.
A search engine considers the content of the sites to determine the QUALITY of a link. When inbound links to your site come from other sites, and those sites have content related to your site, these inbound links are considered more relevant to your site. If inbound links are found on sites with unrelated content, they are considered less relevant. The higher the relevance of inbound links, the greater their quality and also very important is the anchor text used in these links.

For example, if a webmaster has a website about how to rescue orphaned kittens, and received a backlink from another website about kittens, then that would be more relevant in a search engine’s assessment than say a link from a site about car racing. The more relevant the site is that is linking back to your website, the better the quality of the backlink.

Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built consistently over time. While it is fairly easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine’s algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine’s criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links, or automatically generated pages whose sole purpose is to provide inbound links to websites. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely.

Another reason to achieve quality backlinks is to entice visitors to come to your website. You can’t build a website, and then expect that people will find your website without pointing the way. You will probably have to get the word out there about your site. One way webmasters got the word out used to be through reciprocal linking. Let’s talk about reciprocal linking for a moment.

There is much discussion in these last few months about reciprocal linking. In the last Google update, reciprocal links were one of the targets of the search engine’s latest filter. Many webmasters had agreed upon reciprocal link exchanges, in order to boost their site’s rankings with the sheer number of inbound links. In a link exchange, one webmaster places a link on his website that points to another webmasters website, and vice versa. Many of these links were simply not relevant, and were just discounted. So while the irrelevant inbound link was ignored, the outbound links still got counted, diluting the relevancy score of many websites. This caused a great many websites to drop off the Google map.

We must be careful with reciprocal links. There is a Google patent in the works that will deal with not only the popularity of the sites being linked to, but also how trustworthy a site is that you link to from your own website. This will mean that you could get into trouble with the search engine just for linking to a bad apple. We could begin preparing for this future change in the search engine algorithm by being choosier with which we exchange links right now. By choosing only relevant sites to link with, and sites that don’t have tons of outbound links on a page, or sites that don’t practice black-hat SEO techniques, we will have a better chance that our reciprocal links won’t be discounted.

Many webmasters have more than one website. Sometimes these websites are related, sometimes they are not. You have to also be careful about interlinking multiple websites on the same IP. If you own seven related websites, then a link to each of those websites on a page could hurt you, as it may look like to a search engine that you are trying to do something fishy. Many webmasters have tried to manipulate backlinks in this way; and too many links to sites with the same IP address is referred to as backlink bombing.

One thing is certain: interlinking sites doesn’t help you from a search engine standpoint. The only reason you may want to interlink your sites in the first place might be to provide your visitors with extra resources to visit. In this case, it would probably be okay to provide visitors with a link to another of your websites, but try to keep many instances of linking to the same IP address to a bare minimum. One or two links on a page here and there probably won’t hurt you.

There are a few things to consider when beginning your backlink building campaign. It is helpful to keep track of your backlinks, to know which sites are linking back to you, and how the anchor text of the backlink incorporates keywords relating to your site. A tool to help you keep track of your backlinks is the Domain Stats Tool. This tool displays the backlinks of a domain in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. It will also tell you a few other details about your website, like your listings in the Open Directory, or DMOZ, from which Google regards backlinks highly important; Alexa traffic rank, and how many pages from your site that have been indexed, to name just a few.

Another tool to help you with your link building campaign is the Backlink Builder Tool. It is not enough just to have a large number of inbound links pointing to your site. Rather, you need to have a large number of QUALITY inbound links. This tool searches for websites that have a related theme to your website which are likely to add your link to their website. You specify a particular keyword or keyword phrase, and then the tool seeks out related sites for you. This helps to simplify your backlink building efforts by helping you create quality, relevant backlinks to your site, and making the job easier in the process.

There is another way to gain quality backlinks to your site, in addition to related site themes: anchor text. When a link incorporates a keyword into the text of the hyperlink, we call this quality anchor text. A link’s anchor text may be one of the under-estimated resources a webmaster has. Instead of using words like “click here” which probably won’t relate in any way to your website, using the words “Please visit our tips page for how to nurse an orphaned kitten” is a far better way to utilize a hyperlink. A good tool for helping you find your backlinks and what text is being used to link to your site is the Backlink Anchor Text Analysis Tool. If you find that your site is being linked to from another website, but the anchor text is not being utilized properly, you should request that the website change the anchor text to something incorporating relevant keywords. This will also help boost your quality backlinks score.
