Well done to Hollyoaks for their recent twist, that they managed to keep from been reaveled in the media. Great work to the team, I won't reveal what happend here, but if you haven't seen the most recent episode of Hollyoaks and would like to see the start of a big storyline for the soap unfold, I'd recommend watching last weeks episodes. This, you see, is why I like Hollyoaks. When it's great it really does it's thing good.

Jennifer Metcalfe Interview Digital Spy

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 27 Jun 2012 11:29:00 +0000

If like me, your a massive fan of the Mercedes McQueen character in Hollyoaks and the characters actor, the brilliant and lovely Jennifer Metcalfe, then you might like to head over to Digital Spy who have an interview with Jenifer talking about her reactions to her characters current storylines:

3 TV Music Cliches

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 26 Jun 2012 16:52:00 +0000

If you like these songs, theirs a good chance you'll hear them on TV:

1.'Puppy Love' Will Play If Dogs Are Shown or even just mentioned.
2.'Come Fly With Me' Will Play If An Areoplane Is Shown or even briefly mentioned, or if a show is about an airline, or any excuse really.
3. If a show has some kind of 'head to head' feature, ie. two presenters racing on go karts for a chat show, then get readey to hear that classic Survivor track from Rocky

, Eye Of The Tiger.

A Good Read For Soap Fans

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 25 Jun 2012 19:20:00 +0000

Inside The Soaps

Over the years their have been many soap magazines avaliable to buy in the UK's shops, making very good reads for soap fans. Many of these magazines have been going for years now, such as the Inside Soap magazine. The magazine has now reached it's 20th birthday milestone (meaning it's not far of EastEnders or Brookside's overall time) and through the years has covered the many massive storylines soaps have come up with.

This is my favioute of the soap magazines, with intresting features alongside the reguler previews, news, reviews and interviews on soap. I like the soap cartoon on the letters page too. These soap magazines are very populer, and have some very intresting features, but one thing I think is that their is a market for a soap magazine that gives away reguler free gifts. For example they could do a deal with the soaps and give away dvds such as greatest moments compliations, that kind of thing.

Dragon's Den Hotting Up

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 21 Jun 2012 21:22:00 +0000

The new series of Dragon's Den shouldn't be long for TV now. It's a show I really like a lot, you know in terms of the programmes format. It's great to see the ideas that entrepreneurs come up with (often find the ones I like The Dragon's don't). I also like The Dragon's catchphrases that have developed over the series', though I think The Dragons often use them in the wrong way, such as Duncan saying something is Ludicrous, often when it is actually pretty reasonable. I like to wonder if The Dragons are aware that Evan Davis is, presenting underneath them, seeing as they never meet on screen.

Their are some things I don't like about the show, actually relating to how The Dragons judge the enyrupeners on their business. I don't know if anyone else is with me on this one, but I think The Dragons go on far to much about The Numbers. You know, how much is the gross target of your net incomes salery for the year 2055, or something. I'm not great with numbers myself and when their getting financial I often don't have a clue what their talking about, but that, is not why I resent them going on about The Numbers so much, I do realise it is a part of buisness, I just think if someone doesn't know The Numbers, it dosen't mean their product idea is not worth takeing on. Sometimes they turn down a great product or business idea just because the pitcher made a mistake with the numbers. When one of The Dragons is grilling the entrepreneurs on The Numbers, and they question the pitcher on mistakes, I'd love for them to say 'Sorry, my calculator stopped working half way through'. I always think of Michael McInryre's spot on observations on Dragon's Den, like The Dragons attitude such as 'I've already decided I'm out, but I'm going to play with them first'. So true.

Also could The Dragons who are guilty of throwing people's inventions around, after the people took the time making them and bringing them to the show, sort it out. The pitchers don't go into Boux Avenue and start throwing knickers around (or trying very hard to see if they can be ripped), and they don't go into one of Duncan's gyms and start throwing towels across the floor.

Regin Of Dragons Returns

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sat, 02 Jun 2012 14:46:00 +0000

Hilary will not be taking part in the next series of Dragon's Den that follows in the next couple of weeks, so this will be her last series before her new shows airs over on Channel 4.
Yes The Dragons regin will soon continue, with Duncan telling people their ludicrus and Theo asking people why they expect him to invest his childs inheriantence (they don't, his own money will be fine) but whatever you may think of The Dragon's, each series usually always throws up some intresting ideas from the entrepuners pitching. Who will replace Hilary? Well nothing has been confirmed, but past series' have talked about Michelle Mone or Jaquie Gold joining the den. It could happen, for now we can look foward (or not, if you don't like the show) to the return of Dragon's Den soon.

The Matt Lucas Awards Seconds

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 01 Jun 2012 19:37:00 +0000

It has been announced that the Matt Lucas Awards will be able to award it's self a second series. I'm glad myself, I know it was a series that had a very mixed response, but I wanted it to get some more episodes as it's a show that has potentional. Yay more of that catchy theme tune too.

Underated TV Heros

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 30 May 2012 00:00:00 +0000

Rick Griffin makes it on to my list in the first of the blogs Underated TV Heros. The man has been at Holby for more then 15 years now, and is what some may call a 'stalewart' of the show, having been the only original cast member since the show began in 1996. This character has been at the centre of the many big plots of Holby City over the years and has continued to be. One of my personel favioute of Ric's storylines was about Ric's daughter Jess and her relationship with Ric's friend Zubin Khan. Then to heighlight another, their was the one where he and his friend tried to sneak in heart paitents for operations, knowing that it could save them even though they were not registred with the health service, as they were not able to be.
Ric has had romance with characters like Laura (ahh one of my favioute Holby characters, such a nice girl) and has often had run ins with the various people who work at Holby. If he disagrees with staff he will let it be known, he won't be quick to back down either, rather stand up to his beliefs. Ric is played brilliantly by Hugh Quashire. A man of principle. Yep, Holby City just would not be the same without M.r Ric Griffin, and here at Blogged On TV we salute you Ric, for your services to Holby, and Hugh Quashire for you great work as the classic character.

The Return Of A Gameshow: Win Or Lose?

Well it seems that ITV are continuing their current trend for bringing back old shows in new forms. It is said Holly Willoughby will be presenting a new series of Surprise Surprise (will she sing the theme song?) and Roy Walker is said to be ready for a return to Catchphrase on ITV1. I liked the orignial series' of both of these shows, and some times remakes can work. Sometimes (and some may say very rarely) remakes can better the original, so the new Surprise Surprise could be very good. Although, what perhaps they could of done is give Holly a simmerler show with a different name, and leave Surprise Surprise with Cillia Black. One thing I think ITV may of dropped is their planes to bring back Crystle Maze. It had been said that they wanted to air new episodes with Amanda Holden in th role of host, taking over from the likes of Ed Tuderpole and Richard O' Brien.
What I'd like to know is will M.r Chips be returning to catchphrase? And if you don't know who M.r Chips is:

The Kat Returns

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 17 May 2012 16:13:00 +0000

Kat Slater is on her way back to The Vic soon, and indeed EastEnders, the return of a soap legend. Kat is returns on the 7th of June. Jessie Wallace is a talented actress, and it will be good to see her back in the square. But what I do wonder, is will Kat's storylines now move on from the whole breaking up with Alfie storylines, reguler affairs, or will it be more of the same? I say this because EastEnders writers really have had it in for this character. Well, we will see but for now let's welcome back Jessie Wallace to EaatEnders.

The BOTSA

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 06 May 2012 23:47:00 +0000

Well it's time for this years Blogged On TV Soap Awards. Yes the BOTSA award cermoney (you will not be recieving a gift bag that contains a Wii or anything else for that matter and there will be no aftershow on ITV2) is a list of awards that I think should of gone out to soaps. Don't get me wrong, I think all the winners on the night were worthy, however if it were up to me, these are some further nominations and winners I would of made. Firstly starting with one of the most important factors, how in the world was the likes of Gemma Merna and Jenifer Metcalfe not nominated for sexist female. Honestly. Oh yeah and the rest of the Hollyoaks female ladies while we are on it. You see this is why I'm not allowed to be incharge of the nominations and winners of the BSA's. Though the lovely Michele Keegan was of course a worthy winner. On a slightly different note, I was dissopointed that this year, dispite having a very strong run of character development (ie Brendan Brady in particuler) and good storylining and execution of those storylines (like the whole serial killer Silias story arc) why was Hollyoaks not a winner. I appreciate it had strong competition, but I really thought they deserved something at least for the killer Silias storyline. Good acting, writing and directing I thought, all the way through. A dramatic performace award would be great for any of the cast of the episode where Silias's crimes were discovered by Hollyoaks residents . No award though, and how about Silias as best villian, surly. Still some well deserved awards were given out to the other soaps. Now, next year let's have some of the more underated soap moment become more rated at the BSA's. Stay tuned for lot's more soap stuff

TV Update-The Apprentice

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 03 May 2012 23:10:00 +0000

The Apprentice TV Update

Things I like about The Apprentice: the fact that when Sir Lord Alan Suger summons the teams to give them their task details, often in some kind of shady looking area, with Nick and Karen either side of them, it really does look like his summoned them for some kind of dodgy money deal. I keep expecting Nick to present a case of money at any moment. Oh yeah and thanks Aprentice people for basing the tasks around parts of Essex I'm very fammiler with Ilford, Lakeside and Romford. Man, I missed seeing Nick and Karen when I was in those parts of town. Still so far I've been enjoying this years The Apprentice, it's already had some classic moments, will some more be made once they get to the infamous interview stages?

The Voice So Far

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 30 Apr 2012 00:24:00 +0000

Now that we have had a few episodes of The Voice UK and it's gone through a few of it's rounds, how is the show looking so far, in terms of what it sent out to do-offer an alternative to the singing talent shows such as The X-Factor, where the contestants are judged purely on their voice?
Well I don't doubt the fact that the judges have been judging the contestants on their voice, well certaintly on the blind auditions, though that's the only thing they can judge them on (unless it's on the sound of their feet as they walk to the stage), but what about in the later rounds so far, when the contestants get to sing live for the first time? The judges have been giving lots of comments about contestants voice, their singing style, and their has been a lot of talk about notes, the noises they make and the 'licks' that they produce (this post is still about The Voice). Unlike on The X-Factor , their has been no one say that the person dosen't look good with their style and so they don't look like they could be a pop singer. Which I find refreshing. Something else I find refreshing is that the judges have their rivalry with their own acts that they want to beat the other judge's with, but they can also offer encouragement, compliments and helpful tips to their fellow judge's acts. Also they often have nice words to say about their fellow judge's traning with their contestants. So why maybe sometimes the voice may feel like another talent show singing contest, that just isn't really quite as different as it thinks it is, their are some neat differances to shows like The X-Factor which improve it over it's rivals. If they managed to iron them out further, the show could be streets ahead of The X-Factor. Presenter wise on The Voice<\i>we have Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates, who do their job soildly, really. Reggie comes across as a nice guy and Holly a nice girl to support and comfort the acts with-which you want in these kind of shows-both ready with some supportive and uplifting comments to the contestants. The judges are ready with a their hugs, many of us, who may not be able to sing a note like me, would enter The Voice to earn a hug of Holly, yeah it's not just about the voice, it's about the Holly hugs. I'll stop now. Anyway, the show has been doing very well, I'm not surprised by it's sucess and if for the next series (unless the BBC are going to take it down in it's prime like Shooting Stars, (yes I am bitter) they managed to further improve on it's format it could, as I say, become even further ahead of The X-Factor. Having said that it will be intresting to see what a certain M.r Cowell has planned for his show. Their have been rumours like Simon appearing over a Skype link from America, to give his oppinion on the acts(hope you don't get disconnected Simon) but it remains to be seen what exactly Simon and the team are planning to take on the newest-and strongest rival-to the crown for best singing contest show in the UK..

The British Soap Awards On It's Way In May

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 18 Apr 2012 23:36:00 +0000

The date for this years British Soap Award's has been anounced: ITV1 8pm on Wednesday May 2nd. Their is still time to vote in the catorgories open to the public.
Will EastEnders continue it's tradition of wining best soap? Will it be the year of the awards for much underated soap Hollyoaks after they pulled of the Silas serial killer storyline? Will Brendan Brady once again walk away with the winner awards? After the actual British Soap Awards I'll give my verdict on the results then offer an alternative soap awards here on Blogged On TV, that'll be the BOTSA-Blogged On TV's Soap Awards incase you were wondering.

From East To North: Cliff Parisi Joins Hollyoaks

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 16 Apr 2012 11:31:00 +0000

Cliff Parisi is joining Hollyoaks for a few episodes, though not a lot is know about the character he plays. Could his character be a relation to one of the Hollyoaks regulers? We should hopefully discover more soon, for now stay tuned to the brilliant Hollyoaks.

New Pac-Man Animation For TV

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 11 Apr 2012 21:21:00 +0000

Some of you may remember the first Pac-Man cartoon. You might of caught it's more recent repeats on Cartoon Network. Well a new Pac-Man cartoon is on it's way, which will be called Pac-Man-The Adventure Begins ( I wonder if it show how Pac-Man was born, that I'll like to see). The new cartoon will air in 2013 and the show will be shown exclusivly on Disney XD.
Something else about the show is that it will be in steroscopic 3D, which will be great to see the Pac-Man characters in (I've always had a fondness for Blinky). It's been a while since we had a brand new Pac-Man cartoon so it's great to have one made. Now if we could just have a new Mario one, a new Sonic one, a Tekken one, a Tomb Raider one, a Spyro one, a Jak and Daxter one, a God Of War one......

Harry Hill's Truly TV Gold

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 05 Apr 2012 00:02:00 +0000

Great TV from Harry Hill's Last Episode. Their have perhaps not been quite as many articles about Harry Hill's last TV Burp because of us been unsure about whenever or not it was actually the last show. The confusion was partly fuled by a story in The Sun that suggested that Harry had changed his mind and would be back with TV Burp. It was later reported by those who attend the alleged last episode of TV Burp that it was clearly the last episode of TV Burp with a round up of the cast from throughout the series' and Harry himself saying not to listen to The Sun and it was in fact the last episode. Well the one thing I'm certain of is that Harry and his team gave us years of great and hilarious TV. with lots of good points being made about the many shows he featured, It's been a great show, so we salute you Harry and your TV Burp team for your great TV contribution- no one reviewed TV quite like you Harry and what a great way he reviewed. It is possible that M.R Hill could return for some TV Burp specials, but although the show will be missed, as I say he gave us (and ITV) years of great TV and it be interesting to see what Harry has in store for us next with his new shows his been working on.

The End OF A Great TV Burp Era

The Voice Is Here

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sat, 31 Mar 2012 23:22:00 +0000

The Voice, now and after a lot of hype (and I mean a lot, did you also see the adverts a few hundred times inbetween various BBC shows) does the show leave up to its 'anti X-Factor' tag that it seems to promote? Well, it's fair to say, that so far the coaches (they like to be called this on the show instead of judges, to heighlight that they are coaching rather then judging) do seem to be about encouraging their acts with their music as their main motive. Just like the ads told us, the coaches do not see what the singers look like until they have selected that they pick that act as one they want to coach (unless theirs a scam, and instead of what the BBC want us to believe, that their is an audience in front of them but actually it is in fact a giant mirror, that's not. It also does, in some ways feel fresh as these kind of singing reality shows (their have been a lot) go, although maybe not quite so if you have seen the American version. It feels fresh in it's main selling point of the acts not been revealed to the judges to see untill they have picked them, anyway. As more episodes air, it will be intreasting to see how the coaches develope into their role. So far I enjoy watching Jessie's bobbing and mouthing the words to songs, Will.I.Am (he is) has great facial expressions as the contestants sing. Tom is often the last to select an act (maybe he likes to hear more of the song before voting, or maybe his just day dreaming). I also like Danny's head bopping. In terms of the coaching related comments I think they have all offered some good encouragement to the hopefuls, but in the coming weeks we'll get more to comment on that front. It will also be interesting to see how the later rounds go- will their be some twists in the format? How close will it be to the American version? Let's see how the show goes on.

The Voice returns next Saturday

Britain's Got The Voice

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 27 Mar 2012 14:27:00 +0000

Oh great they've only gone and done it again. Those TV networks- you wait for one massive show to launch and two come along at once, but of course unlike with buses, this is more a planned move. Yes, we had Strictly and The X-Factor battle it out, now we have Britain's Got Talent taking on the UK's newest singing contest, The Voice. Now as much as part of these kind of TV contests hype tends to feature on the judges (or coaches as The Voice seems to prefer us to say, more on that later) it should really be about the contestants as a big focus, but the judges/coaches can make a differance to viewers enjoyment. So I'll take that in to account when reviewing the shows each week I'll go into more detail when more episodes have aired, but for now a few observations on both programmes after the opening episodes. I'll take a look at the judges and then take a closer look at some of the contestants.First, in this post then, Britain's Got Talent and next post will be The Voice. OK, so what's new with this series of Britain's Got Talent is our additions to the judges; David Walliams and Alesha Dixon. Plus, the return of Simon Cowell. I do think it was a good choice for Simon to return, I think the last series was missing what he brings to the show. I'm sure he'll be glad to return to his head judge role too. Alesha is not one of those judges who just says she likes all the acts (Louie *cough*) and she may end up as being as hard to please as Simon, well maybe not quite, but as long as she gives a fair chance to the contestants. Amanda's back, I think she is somewhere inbetween the previous two judges in her toughness to please, she's done a lot of shows now so reguler viewers will be very fammiler with her judging style. But who's really brought something new to the show and helped freshen it up a bit is David Walliams. He can play brilliantly to an audiance and help encourage them to enjoy an act, even if it's not from the most talented of contestants-but I think that's good for the audiance as well as the contestants. Plus his jokey flirting with M.R Cowell does add some new chemistery to the panel.

To round it off we have Ant and Dec in their backstage rolls, brilliant as ever, for some reason I have a feeling this could be a vintage year for Britain's Got Talent. Hopefully that feeling will come up good.

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 15 Mar 2012 01:56:00 +0000

A few new updates in soap news:

EastEnders Excecutive Producer Bryan Kirkwood Steps Down From Role

First, in EastEnders news, it has been reported that the executive producer for EastEnders, Bryan Kirkwood will be stepping down. Now some of you may of enjoyed his run on EastEnders, some perhaps not so much, or you may of felt a mixture of both. One thing is defiantly the case, he made an impact on EastEnders during his stint on the soap. Their were many new characters and also old characters appearing. Their were the storylines too; such as the much mentioned baby swap storyline. Not only that some others too mention are Tanya's cancer storyline, the Queen Vic fire (the one in the pub that led tp Peggy's exit) and the Dr Yusef storyline about his evil plans for the Masoods. Also, I thought I noticed a slight increase in humour when EastEnders was under M.R Kirkwood's watch so I wonder if that was something he was aiming to add more to the show, to name a few things their.
Well I wish M.R Kirkwood well with whatever he chooses to do next (return as executive producer for Hollyoaks, well he was great in that role)-who will take his place for Eastenders I wonder. It will be interesting to see what they bring to the show next.

New Coronation Street Domestic Violence Storyline

It has also being reported that Coronation Street is planing to air a storyline where the character Tyrone Dobbs becomes a victim of domestic violence after his attacked by his controlling fiancee Kirsty Soames. You can read on Digital Spy more details on that storyline here:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a370616/coronation-street-to-air-domestic-violence-storyline.html#article_continue
Well I think it's great that Coronation Street are planing a domestic storyline-any domestic storyline that's well made in a soap is great as we say if it helps just one person, then that's brilliant, also to do a storyline where it's a male who is the victim of the violence represents an area that is perhaps not explored on TV nearly as regularly as other storylines so it's great to have an issue such as this explored.

The Last Hustle

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:30:00 +0000

The Friday just gone gave us the last episode of Hustle. And I thought it was a great end to the show, I won't go into any detail of what happen in this post, hence no spoiler warning, a review on its way soon, but yes I liked the way the show ended. A good show to add to your DVD collection, I would say. So farewell to The Hustle (is The Real Hustle, the spin off, documentary continuing?)
