Blogger to WordPress plugin helps you to redirect mobile template from old blogger blog to new WordPress blog. which is like ?m=1

We have released a new version of our Blogger To WordPress plugin.

Many bloggers who migrated from blogger.com to self hosted WordPress, were facing issues while redirecting via the mobile template. The URL ends with ?m=1 (for instance, http://example.blogspot.com/test-post.html?m=1).

This issue has been fixed with the new release. You just have to take the following steps on blogger.com:

Copy the code generated by plugin and paste it into your blogger.com template, as usual.

Disable mobile template.

Today we merged BloggerToWP.org portal in to our main site rtCamp.com. This change was done to improve Blogger To WordPress migration process & plugin out there.

From 3.5 years, we are helping bloggers move their blogs from Blogger.com to self-hosted WordPress platform.

It started with a Blogger to WordPress tutorial on Devils Workshop in January 2009. Then moved on to a dedicated portal – BloggerToWP.org (see screenshot) where we took it to a new level.

Today, we are happy to announce that our most successful BloggerToWP.org portal is merging into rtCamp.com – our main website!

So far we helped…

120+ bloggers through our premium migration service

13000+ blogs through our Blogger to WordPress redirection FREE plugin

Countless comments we answered on our blog posts

Countless questions we answered in our free support forum

Looks like a going great so far!

They why did we decide to move it…

There is a saying, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

But, at rtCamp, we believe in competing with ourself only. If we can make it better, we will just do it, irrespective of our market position and other stats.

Sometime back, we felt that we can further improve Blogger to WordPress migration process. To accomplish this, we need to invest great deal of efforts and we wanted to do that without making our service too costly! To create win-win situation here, we decided to take back energy we were putting into maintaing a dedicated BloggerToWp.org portal, a dedicated support forum, a dedicated facebook page, a dedicated twitter page & other assets.

Self-proclaimed SEO experts may call us fool as BloggerToWP.org domain used to get insanely good ranking on “Blogger To WordPress” keyword. But we never cared about search engines as we run our portal for humans and this change will help humans further!

Finally, this change was also essential for reimagined rtCamp!

A word about future Blogger To WordPress Migration

Apart from our open-source WordPress plugin, we have maintained another WordPress plugin to help our paying customers. This in-house plugin has more features. Going ahead, we plan to merge both into one plugin!

We have some tools to test if migration is 100% successful. We will be integrating these tools into future version of our WordPress plugin.

Automatic quote generator for bloggers who are interested in hiring us. This will save everybody’s time. We will be putting up a open-pricing page, so that you will get an idea about our pricing structure.

We will continue to support bloggers moving from Blogger.com to self-hosted WordPress in every possible way because we believe moving to WordPress is right thing to do.

You can check new Blogger to WordPress section on rtCamp here. Happy blogging!

We are releasing a major update to BloggertoWp plugin, which will overcome the issue of country specific re-directions.

After huge success of Blogger To WordPress Redirection Plugin (over 12000 downloads), we are now releasing a major update to our plugin.
Recently blogger.com (Google) announced to redirect users/readers to their country wide extension (like .in, .uk, .au, etc), which was creating problems to users while one to one post redirection.

Number of people were asking us to give solution for such redirection process in our free Support forum. For most of them the problem was same ‘single post URL was redirecting toward home page instead of actual WordPress blog post’. Considering growing demand of our plugin, our BloggertoWp team decided to over-come ‘country wide redirection issue’ and very soon we found a solution for this.

The recent release will overcome the country specific redirection issues and one to one redirection of blogger blog to WordPress blog will be possible again.

Current changes in plugin:

Fixed some styling issues.

Fixed- Redirection of single blog post from blogger.com to WordPress home page blog.

If you are already using of our plugin in your WordPress blog, no need to worry, you just need to update the plugin from WordPress dashboard and everything will work the same.
If you are new user and want to migrate your blogger.com blog to self hosted WordPress, follow our Best DIY article and use our Blogger To WordPress Redirection Plugin. That’s it. And you are done.

Feel free to get in touch with our free forum support, if you have any questions.

As the Google have started redirecting the blogger blogs to country specific domain, many of blogger users are facing problems due to negative affect on Google juice (Bookmarked links, external links of your blogs) and social stats (like tweet countss, facebook shares and Google +1's).

As the Google have started redirecting the blogger blogs to country specific domain, many of blogger users are facing problems due to negative affect on Google juice (Bookmarked links, external links of your blogs) and social stats (like tweet countss, facebook shares and Google +1′s).

The country specific re-direction allows google to have more control on blogs management in different countries.

Available Solutions:

Use Custom Domains: The users who are using custom domain will not be affected, since their url structure will remain the same and it will not be redirected ( Refer this).

Adding ‘ncr’ slug to blog url: Adding a ‘ncr’ slug to your blog url stops the redirection and it shows the actual domain address.

For example opening http://abc.blogspot.com in India will open http://abc.blogspot.in,

however, if you open http://abc.blogspot.com/ncr in any country it will simply open the same url i.e. http://abc.blogspot.com

How to add ‘ncr’ slug to your blog url:

I recently found a code snippet to add ncr slug to your blogger url.

Follow the below steps:

Open Blogger dashboard and select template

Click on ‘Edit Html’ and then ‘Proceed’

Add following code:

<script type="text/javascript">
var blog = document.location.hostname;
var slug = document.location.pathname;
var ctld = blog.substr(blog.lastIndexOf("."));
if (ctld != ".com") {
var ncr = "http://" + blog.substr(0, blog.indexOf("."));
ncr += ".blogspot.com/ncr" + slug;
window.location.replace(ncr);
}
</script>

Click on Save Template and its done.

*Code Snippet Credit: Labnol

Above code snippet adds ‘ncr’ slug to blog url and prevent redirection to country specific domain.

Quality in a service or product is not what you put into it.
It is what the client or customer gets out of it.
- Peter Drucker

We have been following this philosophy since beginning and have provided a complete DIY guide for blog migration process. We have covered all the topics as migration of feed-subscribers, Google Friends connect, third party commenting system and much more. To make the process even more easy we have provided blogger to WordPress redirection plugin in opensource. Not just that we also provide free technical support on ‘support forum‘ for people facing problems in migration.

Many times customers ask, why shall we borrow your services when you have already provided the complete DIY tutorial??

And we have got a beautiful answer to this from one of our recent blog migration client ‘Erica’ as a blog post – ’Should you Do it Yourself‘?

‘Erica’ has given some really nice daily life example to help in decision making. She has given a good insight on two very important factors as

Intent of DIY

Ability of DIY

We have been offering our blogger to WordPress migration service for more than 2 years now and have migrated over 250+ blogs successfully. As per our experience, customers do not pay for the migration process as its open for all; instead their willingness to pay is based on saving time as a resource, trust, assurance of successful migration and support (if things go wrong).

Knowledge is a wealth which multiplies with sharing. We have shared all the knowledge base with our beloved users. The shared articles represents our depth of knowledge and expertise which builds trust.

The decision to go for DIY or Experts is subjective to client. There are hundreds of users who have successfully migrated their blogs by following the steps given in tutorial. It adds a lot more pride to us when a user successfully migrate his blog and add a cheerful comment below tutorial.

But very few bloggers understand about their domain registrar of custom domain. It is crucial to have a knowledge and access to your domain registrar as it might be needed while moving to WordPress, change in DNS configuration or changing privacy settings.

While number of bloggers enjoyed the free migration, some users faced the problem of Blogger.com To WordPress Redirection.

We wrote Blogger To WordPress Migration article few months back and got a tremendous response. It helped many of bloggers to move their Blogger.com blog to self hosted WordPress. To make the process even easier, we offered Free Migration on purchase of Hosting from our recommended hosts.

While number of bloggers enjoyed the free migration, some users faced the problem of Blogger.com To WordPress Redirection. We received multiple queries on our FREE Technical Support Forums from Hostgator customers that they are facing problems of re-direction.

Reported Error:

example.blogspot.com is migrated and re-directed to self hosted WordPress at example.com.

When users click on any post of older blogger blog:

for e.g.example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html

it should redirect to www.example.com/2011/07/test-page.html

but instead it’s been redirected to

www.example.com/?b2w=http://example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html

Solution:

We suggest you to communicate with the Hostgator customer support team and report the issue.

Please ask in hostgator support team for this ==>> { Hello “insert hostgator employee’s name” Can you please Whitelist the security rules 1434234 so that I can connect remotely for redirects.}
And give them old blogspot post URL which is not redirecting to WordPress post.

The above statement will help the hostgator support team to understand the issue correctly.

Update: You can always get free support from us but before that please cross check the following. This may save your time!

1. Check if the blogger to WordPress redirection plugin is activated.

2. Check if your permalinks structure on your WordPress is same as the custom structure recommended here.

You can check the custom field of posts in the post editor of WordPress.

blogger_blog = example.blogspot.com
blogger_permalink = /2011/07/test-post.html

3. Check this site to verify that if your old post (www.example.com/?b2w=http://example.blogspot.com/2011/07/test-post.html) is still giving 403 Forbidden error. If yes, you need to cross check the issue with Hostgator team again

I wish it will solve your re-direction problem.

Happy Blogging.

Let’s make this day memorable (July 4, 2011) by migrating your blogger.com blog to a self hosted WordPress Blog.
The best deal ever for today. Free Migration (if numbers of posts in your blog are less than 100) and 40% discount on Hosting. This offer is only valid for today (i.e. July 4 2011).
Have any questions? Contact us or ask your questions at @bloggertowp (twitter handle) we will get back to you in zero time.
Let’s not miss the chance to get independent from blogger.com Blog

Follow steps mentioned below to get 40% discount:

Go to HostGator.

Choose any plans you like to buy. To start with, you can go for “Hatchling Plan” which costs $2.97/month, if you are buying for 3 years. It gives you unlimited disk space and bandwidth transfer.

Once you find a suitable plan, click on “Order Now” button next to the plan name.

On next screen, you will be asked to enter a domain name. If you are using a custom domain for your Blogger.com blog, please enter that on right side. No worries about promo code, it will automatically fetch it as ‘JULY4’, to get whopping discount of 40% on your bill.

After that click on “Continue To Step 2″ button.

On next screen you can change your plan again. If you go for “Hatchling Plan” and decide to pay for 1-year in advance, your final bill will look like below.

A deal like 40% off on hosting and Free Migration (if numbers of posts are less than 100); what else a blogger needs. Most bloggers, switching to WordPress, are earning well above $100 per year! Ain’t you?

Happy USA Independence Day.
Cheers!!
