Fluffy Friday #16: Fluffy Visitor **

Seriously time fly by too fast for me.. I can't believe it's already Friday again and time for Fluffy Friday.. OMG! My last entry was a FF post too!! OMG!!! hehehe

OK. so as I mentioned in my blog Life's Pages, we had a visitor yesterday.

When we went for dinner yesterday, we saw this cat at the lift lobby playing with some kids. We thought that the kids was the owner as the kitty really looks very comfortable with them.

Anyway, after dinner, we saw the kitty again. This time he was playing with a man and when the lift came, he was all eagerness to follow the man. So we chatted with the man on how his kitty is so cute and what not and he said, the kitty wasn't his.. Hmm...

Anyway at our floor, the kitty decided that was the floor he wanted to stop on as well. He loitered at the lift lobby for while and then decided to follow us home. He looks really healthy, well-kept, wearing collar, no fleas (we check before letting him into the house) and spayed. So we know he has a forever home. We just don't know where and who he belonged to!

After making his presence known to the rest of the furkids, he roamed the apartment a bit, went to the kitty room, checked out the food and water bowl, decided he was thirsty and walked out to the living room. The rest of the kitties were understandably curious with Awan, surprising, being the most defensive, hissing all the while, Smokey, the ever friendly "kid" checked out he male kitty but did not offer any offensive moves so much so the visitor totally ignored all Smokey's sniffing on his body.

Azwaj was already taking pictures by this time convinced that this kitty would stay the night and that tomorrow we would have to place a sign at the notice board about this this kitty. However, after about an hour in the apartment, the little stranger decided he had enough and time to move on. He went to the front gate and I opened it, he ran out. He looked at us when we called him once and he looked back at us as if saying.. "thank you for the drink".. and went on his merry little way, playing with whatever insect that caught his attention.

Flea Flea Go Away

We've always been flea free thanks to Frontline Plus. However, there was one time when mommy and daddy made a mistake and we were ALL infested with fleas!

It happened when daddy saw a lovely silver haired female kitty at his office one weekend. She was so scared looking that daddy didn't have the heart to leave her there alone that night. So he brought her home. She looked healthy enough and didn't show signs of being flea infested so daddy and mommy didn't see the need to keep her in cage especially since daddy thought he was going to bring her back to office on the following Monday.

To cut story short, daddy found her owner and we did indeed got fleas. It seems that lovely kitty did had fleas anyway :( It took a while before daddy and mommy was able to get us flea-free again as they didn't realize we had fleas until mommy got this huge red bites on her body and she recognized it as flea bite. She immediately check us all and true enough we were infested!

So here we would like to let you know how to avoid getting fleas infecting your kitties and in turn biting the daddy and mommy too:

Always make sure you use a good flea control method. In our case, mommy uses Frontline now but before she was using another brand
Make sure the treatment does not lapse as this can cause the kitties not being properly protected
When bringing a kitty from the outside, always put them in quarantine for a few days and make sure they are flea and worm free before letting them mix around with the house kitties, no matter how short their stay will be.

We hope these few tips would help you with the health of your kitties.

My Single White Whisker

Mommy said I have a very distinctive feature about me and that is my single White Whisker against my very dark color. You see if you take one look at me, you will think my coloring is black but actually I'm more rusty than black and despite my name, I am actually not smokey either.. lol!

Anyway, mommy said, if ever I get lost or go missing, and mommy were to use the services of say a place like PetAmberAlert, which isn't a scam program by the way, it would be very easy to give them my description so that they can help to to identify me and that is by just looking at my doe-like eyes and my single WHITE whisker. Can you see it in my handsome picture here?

Lost Pet Amber Alert has helped a lot of pets get reunited with their forever home owners instead of being sent to the pound to be put to sleep and I simply love the concept.

It is easy to lodge a report too. After calling them and giving them the pet details, they would go about creating memorable posters. These are then sent via express mail, fax or email to be broadcast to local Veterinarians, Animal Shelters, Groomers, Animal Control, Police Stations, Media Outlets, Pet Stores and any “Neighborhood Watch Volunteers” that are within a 50 to 300 mile radius of where your pet was last seen. These recipients are then asked to make photocopies and display them around their area. When someone sees or found your pet, they then call the center's hotline or visit their website to report the matter.

So if ever I get lost, and you see a kitty with a single White Whisker, you know it is me, Smokey, and return me to my mommy ok!

Nina says: I Am Sick

Today Awan got to visit the vet to remove the remaining of her stitches. Doctor Sharon was satisfied that there was no infection internally as the swelling has gone down and so happily removed the stitches. Since the area is still red, she wanted us to continue putting iodine on the area.

Next it was my turn. I have have been vomiting since yesterday and Daddy told Mommy that my body was slightly warm when he combed me earlier. So mommy and daddy brought me along for my first visit with Doc Sharon.

At the vet, Doc Sharon took my temperature and informed mommy that it was 39.9degrees and I think that is high because I saw concern in mommy's eyes.

Doc Sharon is not sure if my vomiting is from the fever. She is concerned because of my age (1'm turn 10 this year) that it might be something else as she can feel my tummy slightly distended. However, to start things off, she gave me three kinds of injection, one for the fever, one for the vomiting and another one a 48 hours time release antibiotics. She wanted mommy to observe if I'm still vomiting . It it stops, she says it a good sign and that mommy can collect more medicine tomorrow.. if not.. then I got to go more test! She's concern because Anja, who had CRF, was from my batch of litter and worried that it might be hereditary.

Please pray that my vomiting stop. I don't want to go for more test! I hate hospital!

Note from mommy: Nina seems to be responding well to the injections. She has not vomited since we got home though I've not seen her eat yet. I will be monitoring Nina for the next 24hours to see signs of improvement. The bill came up to RM56.

Fluffy Friday #11 : My Majestic Victorian Collar

Mommy and Daddy brought me to see Doctor Sharon yesterday to take off my stitches. Oh no.. Doctor Sharon said that the area is all red because I've been very busy licking it, which by the way is NOT good.. and the fat around my tummy is not helping me but helping the infection instead. Oh NO!!

So I am on antibiotics now and anti-swelling medicine and the good doctor will see again in five days. In the meantime I got to wear this Victorian collar with a very pretty pink ribbon. Daddy says I look majestic!

What do you think?

Picture Us Purfect

Mommy loves taking pictures of us and who can blame her because we are so cute and adorable right? She has so many pictures but limited storage space that it's now all over the place. Some are in her laptop, some in her desktop and some even in daddy's pc. Daddy knows this place where he can get refurbished sun storage system at economical prices and teased her that he should get one for her birthday so that she can have all the pictures at one place. Mommy said that is an option or she could just get a bigger hard disk! lol!

So mommy is still undecided about what she wants to do with all these pictures. But it doesn't look like she is slowly down with all those clicking. In fact she just took a whole lot of picture of Awan with her Victorian collar. I will leave that story for Fluffy Friday :)

Crafting for Mommy

Yesterday, Nina told me of her plans to get mommy a gift for her birthday next month. Well, I told her, I am going to "do" something for mommy too. I thought long and hard (it made me giddy) and I've decided that I will have to get some scrapbooking tools & supplies online and maybe make her a nice birthday card! I've always been good with "crafting" toilet paper so why not try my luck with real craft paper right? I've checkout some great craft paper and embellishments that I can use for mommy's awesome birthday card.

I'm so excited to get started but since it will be a while before my order arrive, I think I will start practicing with these newspapers first to see how creative I can be..

Oh yes.. I would need lots of paper as I am a newbie when it comes to craft work and since I'm just a baby I would surely need help with a lot of stuff. I wonder if Smokey can help me.. hmmm

A Gift for Mommy

Mommy used to have some very cute figurines on her desk at work. When she left the workforce, she actually wanted to put them on her desk at home but with US around kicking these figurines each time we climb on her desk, she gave up and kept them away somewhere safe.

Since Mommy's birthday is coming, we are thinking of getting something nice for mommy. We know she's been working hard and trying to juggle work and taking care of granny and us. We were thinking of getting her some beautiful discount crystal figurines. Yeah, it got to be on discount as we don't get much allowance from daddy and we promise if Mommy put them on her desk, we won't push them off with our kicks. I'm so excited but we got to wait for daddy to help us with the ordering.

See I even got the ribbon all ready. For now it's all safe and sound on my neck because Awan keeps wanting to play with it.

Repairs Back Home

My mom has been living in our Singapore home for about 10years now (as long as I've been married) and the wear and tear of fixtures in the apartment is really starting to show.

I was back there last week and I noticed that the ceiling had some cracks and some of the kitchen cabinets doors needed fixing. The windows are also starting to warp so much so that one time when it rained very heavily, the water seeped in causing the kitchen to get slightly flooded! Oh and the front gate also needs to be looked at as it as it jammed on me, from the inside, when I was there. Luckily my wrist is small so I can put my hands out and open the gate from outside otherwise I would have missed my niece's wedding! Yikes!

I think the next time I'm down there, I would need to get quotations from contractors to see how much it would cost me to get all of the repairs done. If it gets too costly, I may plan to do it in stages so that I would not need to get emergency cash loans just to get it done. It is also good to do it soon as I'm working on mommy to move out here with us and if that happens, I may rent or if the price is really good, even sell the apartment there and make some bucks (kaching..lol)

Fluffy Friday #10: Not so Fluffy

Yesterday, daddy brought me out every early in the morning to visit my vet, Dr Sharon. I thought he was going to feed me first after one whole night of fasting without food and water but I was wrong. He left me at the clinic. I was a brave girl and didn't cry though I was scared.

Doctor Sharon injected me with something and the next thing I knew I woke up in a little cage and feeling all nauseous. Doctor Sharon gave me something to eat and drink but all I wanted to do was sleep. When I woke up again, I noticed that my tummy have been shaved off and I was missing LOTS of fur so much so that all my FAT was showing.. boohoo!!

Daddy and Mommy came to fetch me today at 10.30am and I was happy that when I saw them, I immediately wanted to jump down from the Doctor's arms! The doctor told mommy that I am a very good natured and well behaved girl (yeay) and mommy was very proud to have raised me :)

Here are some pictures of my bald tummy. Doctor Sharon said I got to come back in 7 days to remove the stiches as although the incision was small, they were unable to hide the stiches as there was too much FAT in my belly.. yikes!

See my cute not so fluffy belly? Meow!!

Kitty Condo Can Wait

Since mommy is in Singapore, we have not been out of the kitty room and blogging much because daddy is too busy attending to granny and is hardly home... and we are not allowed to touch the pc without adult supervision...heheh...

However, we don't really mind because we love our our kitty room. It's spacious, airy and we have an awesome four and three tier bunk bed that we love to sleep it even when we are allowed out and the door is wide opened.

Me on my red bunk bed.. and I'm not even in the kitty room!

The other day I heard mommy said she might be a buying a cat condo so that she can place it in the kitty room so we have more stuff to play and climb on. Yeay! She said it has to wait though because, unlike bird cages, kitty condo can get pretty expensive and the one she saw the other day would cost her easily over RM800 and I think she said that is a lot. She also needs to spend on Awan's spaying this Thursday and that would cost RM240 plus my own medical expenses last month..

Poor mommy and daddy.. they spend so much on us already that I told them, "Yes, the kitty condo can wait".

We just heard that granny had a seizure a few hours ago and that she bit her lips till it bled. We hope she would get well soon coz she's been ill a long time and both daddy and mommy are always talking about her.

I Smell Smoke

The other day, I was minding my own business siting and watching tv when suddenly daddy came to disturb me. He started to rub my tummy and played with my paws. At first I didn't like it coz you know I was in that mood last week but eventually I let him play with my tummy because I love him so much and I don't want to hurt his feelings.

So I played along and started to bite and lick his head and then suddenly I smelled smoke. I was puzzled at first as where the smell of smoke was coming from but I continued to bite and lick daddy's head and hair. And then I realized where the smell was coming from. Oh no daddy! I smell smoke on your head and hair..I better lick it clean!

After this I better advise daddy to stop smoking because not only it is not good for his health, as well as mommy's, but also because it makes his head smelling all smokey :( I know he loves to smoke but perhaps if I put on my cute little face and talk to him, he will listen to me and stop...

Well.. a girl can wish right?

Toilet Training?

Baby, granny's fur-kid in Singapore, uses one of the Toilets to do his business. It definitely save lots of money for granny because she doesn't have to buy kitty litter like mommy does each month. However, one of the cons to Baby using the toilet as his "litter bin" is that sometimes while granny is using the toilet, Baby needs to use it too and vice versa and that is sure no fun for either one of them...lol! Even mommy, while she there in Singapore, got to make way for Baby to use the toilet first because human can hold their bladder a lot longer than kitty can..heheh.. I've been told there were accidents because the human took too long to use the toilet.. hahaha..

Oh we're also told, that our dearly departed Mufasa used to drink from a big pail in the toilet too. He refuse to drink from anywhere else!

No this is not my toilet.. I just love boxes even if it's too small for me!

Anyway, I just hope Mommy won't force us to use the toilet as I hate to get my cutie pie paw wet. I also have a phobia for the bathroom so I think there will be lots of accidents for me and all my siblings and then for sure mommy and daddy would get very angry at all of us and that would be BAD!

Appointment Rescheduled **

Awan is supposed to go for her spaying today but unfortunately she's in heat again. Poor dear is so confused now we don't want to confuse her further by placing her a non-familiar place. I already called Doctor Sharon to reschedule.

The only way to keep her quiet, I found, was to wrap her up in this big orange towel and throw in a paper ball. At least she got distracted and because she got tired, she slept and less howling from her.

My Day Out **

Mommy and daddy brought me to the clinic again to check on wet ezcema and Doc Sharon is very happy with the progress. She said she would prescribed me another four days of steroid and antibiotics.

Doctor Sharon was concerned though about my ears as she said it was slightly dirty. After cleaning both ears, she told mommy that my right ears had some polyps in them but since it would be extremely tricky to remove them and I would have to go for an operation, she said we should just try the conventional way first of making sure the ear is always clean so there wouldn't be any infection.

After the doctor's visit, daddy got to buy some stuff for granny and since I was such a good girl at the clinic, he said I could come along and visit granny. Yeay! So today I had a day out!

Here you can see me at granny's house. This is the first time I touch GRASS and what is that sharp plant! Ouch!!!! I can't wait to show these pictures to my siblings.. hahaha.. I'm sure they would be envious!!

Oh can you see I'm not wearing my blue bandage anymore? I'm soooo happy!
