For those of you that love to cook, you will certainly appreciate the tidbits and morsels found at the Lets’s Get Wokking Blog, though I do not recommend you come to this blog hungry. Here you will find a blog that has been created by a stay-at-home mom who loves cooking for her family and loves sharing the recipes she makes with the world. Contrary to the title, this blog does not limit itself to only cooking with a wok but true to its name, it does focus on cooking and having fun while you do it! The author of the site also has another cooking site, of which there are many links to on the Home page if you want to check out more of her great recipes. You can see this for yourself through any of the most recent bloggeries which include: Blueberry Cupcakes; Sweet Pork; Baked Portabello Mushroom with Ham and Cheese; Stir Fry Pork with Mushroom in Miso; and Steamed Egg with Tofu.

The blog is well organized into a blogspot template making navigation fairly easy. Bloggeries are left marginalized and they appear in black text on white background with links highlighted in purple. There is a double sided right navigation system containing quite a bit of material for the readers. Here you will find the About page, A translate this page widget, and a chat box which is a first for me to see on a blog. If you want to talk to Wokking Mum and tell her how much they love her food or to ask questions about her recipes or cooking in general, you can use this chat box. This navigation system also includes a recent readers widget known as ‘Regular Diners’, Subscription Info, Upcoming Recipes, a Categories Menu known as ‘What Was Wokked Here’, Archives Menu, and various advertising and blog widgets. Each bloggery is associated with a relevant picture which adds to the hunger factor as you read through this blog.

This blog gets a 3.3/5 due to the fact that I was very much enjoying this blog until I started wading through the navigation system. The navigation bars on the right offer readers a wealth of opportunities to connect with the blogger which I really liked, however, these sidebars are very disorganized and not easy to follow through. I would suggest dividing the navigation bars into two systems, with one system being the bar that contains blog essentials such as About, Subscription, Recent Posts, Categories, Archives, etc, and leaving the other navigation bar for these fun widgets. This bar is not organized well and it is very distracting to the reader. Activity scores need work as perfect scores here are the result of daily activity, and appearance is affected by the navigation system. The content of the blog however is doing well to sustain a readership, and is very appealing and in a lovely personal voice. The concept of the blog is very good as well, and this also is aiding in sustaining the readership. Overall, this is a great blog with great content and a creative way of asserting itself, however it does need some cleaning up and tweaking before I would bookmark it. Following that however, it would definitely get a thumbs up from me!
-Chrissie

P.S Would of loved to post a picture but they can’t copied due to a script the blog has installed.

In this day and age, knowing how to produce additional revenue streams can come in very handy. At the This Blog Will Pay My Mortgage Blog, you will learn just that. This is a blog that has been created by the author to do just that – pay his mortgage with the income he makes from the blog. Not only will he pay his mortgage with it, but he’ll show you how you can do it too! While at first glance it’s clear what this blog is about it’s also clear the blog is just what a helpful and informative blog should be: nicely laid out, easy to read, and full of great information that the reader can actually use! You can see this for yourself through any of the most recent bloggeries which include: Top 3 Youtube Tips, Seven Deadly Sins of Twitter Marketers, Make Money Online - Become a RAT!

The blog is very well organized and this makes for ease of navigation. Bloggeries are left marginalized and appear in black font on beige background with a right sided navigation bar. In the navigation bar you will find subscription information, Twitter Updates, Latest Entries, AdSense, Archives Menu, Blogroll titled ‘Get Organized and Inspired’, Most Popular posts menu, Great Bloggers Menu, and Recent Comments Menu. Although the blog may seem to lack uniqueness in a world that is full of money-making blogs, it’s so easy to use and navigate that any other additions may just impede on the site’s biggest strength which is its top notch content.

This blog gets a 3.6/5. The subscriber count seems to be on the low side, and this could be improved with daily content being fed to the blog (and ultimately, the search engines). Navigation wise, the blog has all of the features a blog should have, which is important for all blogs but especially for blogs that are focused on making money. The only suggestion I would have for easier navigation would be to make the header a clickable link, as many readers such as myself like to use that for a handy anchor when navigating a blog. For appearance, the blog is good. Though it is not the prettiest blog per se, you will overlook this fact when you get into its top quality content that is easy to read, easy to apply, and informative if you are serious about making money online. This blog could definitely use some kind of personalization as the theme is rather generic right now. I also like the random spattering of images, as this does not distract from the blog and the blog clearly does not rely on heavy images or other frivolous wastes of space but leaves the content to speak for itself in a nicely organized way. With just a few tweaks, this good blog could become a great blog and see some definite growth in subscribers and readership over time.

If you like getting free food, or simply like to hear good food reviews, then you may want to check out the Gimmie Something to Eat Blog. This is a blog authored by two bloggers who love to eat. These bloggers are committed to eating one new food a day and reviewing it for advertising dollars. That’s right, you send them your food and they will document the entire review experience on video and publish it on their blog. So if you are looking for ingenious ways to find a way to eat for free, these bloggers will definitely inspire you. Mind you, these same bloggers are giving back more than their reviews, but also offering a substantial fundraising opportunity for local food banks. For every month that they ‘sell out’ of food reviews, they will donate $300 to a food bank, and for every day that is sold, $1 to local food banks. This is an ingenious way of spreading the word about good food, and helping those less fortunate at the same time. And for companies or food sponsors, there is no warmer way to get your message across than by receiving a review from this creative team, and giving back to the food bank at the same time. Take a look for yourself at the good work this eating team is doing by checking out any of their most recent bloggeries: Pictures: Season One Episode 26 – Fluffy Jon and Mama D Take a Voyage on the Sea; Pledge to End Hunger: Can 5000 Really Feed 560,000?; Does Fluffy Enjoy Goji Berries?, and Fluffy has an Oat Dream.

The blog is fairly new and is organized into a clean template making it very easy to navigate. You will find handy navigation systems all round the blog in the header, footer, and right sided navigation bar. Bloggeries are left marginalized and are in black text on white background. In the top navigation system you will find links to the Home Page, About Page, Contact Page, and a ‘Send us Food’ link! In the right sided navigation system you will find a Search Bar, Testimonials, comprehensive Categories Menu, and a series of Information Links if you want to get more involved with the blog. And if you are a food lover, you will love the comprehensive set of food categories that you can read reviews on, such as Beverages, Dairy Drinks, Dessert Items, Energy Drinks, Juice Drinks, Meat Products, and so many more. You will also find more to navigate in the footer with Menus here for Categories, Archives, and Recent Comments Menu. Each bloggery is associated with relevant pictures and even videos of the food review experience and these add meaning and relevance to the blog content.

Overall this blog gets a 4.6/5 at the time of review. For such a young blog at only two months old, it has laid a solid foundation from which to grow. The blog offers many navigation systems on a clean template that is easy to use and easy to move around. The only suggestion to assist in navigation would be the addition of a Recent Posts Menu, as more episodes get added to the blog, readers will find this very useful in navigation. From an Appearance standpoint, this blog does well with its easy to read and aesthetically pleasing layout. Content is well done in a strong personal voice that is both creative but to the point, and this will definitely assist in reader retention. Activity scores are right on track as well, with this blog promising daily content and delivering it well. Overall, this blog is well done on every level, and should see some great success as it continues to grow. Food lovers will definitely want to take a bite out of this one!

Political blogs are quite popular these days, and when well written, are a fun read regardless of what side of the partisan fence you are sitting on. The Thunder Dragon blog is no exception. When first landing on the Thunder Dragon blog, you will quickly appreciate the newsy articles this blog has to offer. The Thunder Dragon blog is a blog written by Chris Hawes, who is a recent university graduate and political activist and enjoys writing about his political views and ideas, and what you can expect of the blog, which is a blog that covers global politics, with a focus on the UK and the United States. See this for yourself through any of the most recent bloggeries which include: Cameron Direct to Watford, Lib Dems And A Hung Parliament, I don’t like driving in my car and A Tax On Chocolate.

The blog is well designed into a clean and organized template which upon first glance, makes navigation very simple, however navigation becomes a little cumbersome as you move through the blog. Bloggeries are left marginalized and appear in black text on white background with a black border around the blog giving you a newspaper feel. There is also a double wide right sided navigation system where you can find all of the blog meat. In the navigation system you will find very little in the right sided bars, as the navigation moves with you as you scroll down the page. Content contained here includes some blog widgets, a Recent Posts Menu, Comments Menu, and Blogroll, however the font is very tiny on these features and it may take you a few minutes to see them enough to use them. The blog also offers a top navigation system under the header where you can travel to the home page, About, Blogroll, Comments Policy, Copyright, Email, and RSS information. Most bloggeries are accompanied by relevant pictures to the content which makes for an enjoyable read and adds some definition and life to the overall appearance. I don’t understand why the sidebar slides with you as you scroll down. It looks to me like it’s stopping us from accessing some of the data such as “Recent Posts”

Overall this blog gets a 3/5 and needs a few tweaks to make it an exceptional blog, however, this blog does not have far to go in that respect. Although it does have the basic features that make a blog easier to navigate, the sliding sidebar kinda confuses me and cheapens the appearance. Placing these different features on the home page in a more static location would make much more sense. Also, the blog features are too small to read and a different sized font would change this. Further, some additional blog meat needs to be added such as the standard Categories Menu to make reading easier for the readers if they are looking for a specific topic. The color scheme also makes it difficult to read the different features and focus on the content and black text on blue background in the navigation system is very hard on the eyes, and may make readers wander elsewhere. However, the blog does have a lot of information and the content is quality enough to carry this blog. Activity is great as well with new bloggeries many times a day, which is always great to see in a blog. Overall again, just a few tweaks mainly to appearance and navigation to make this blog more user friendly and this blog is well on its way to successful growth. If you’re reading this and you change your layout be sure to contact us so Rob can add you to the directory; also with a simple change this blog could easily be a 4+/5.

For those moms that need a little bit of a break, or for some comedic relief from another mom in the same boat, you will want to check out The Soccer Mom Files. The Soccer Mom Files blog is written by a ‘very attractive’ soccer mom with two ‘gifted kids’ and describes herself *tongue in cheek* as an incredible wife and an overall fantastic person. The blog is a good dose of humor for other soccer moms who need a comedic break in their day or just by anyone who’s looking for a daily dose of humor! The humor in this blog is the blog’s greatest attribute, and anyone, soccer mom or no can appreciate it. Particularly in bloggeries where the blogger discusses her ‘penchant’ for rednecks and describes a CMT reality show known as ‘Redneck Weddings’. See more of this humor in any of the most recent bloggeries which include: My Mind is Going… College Football is Back!, Nice Wine Rack!, That’s Just how I Roll, I’m as Patriotic as the Next Guy but…, and White Trash Martha Stewart!

The first thing you can not fail to notice about this blog is its unbelievable large header, which I have to say takes away from the navigation of the blog. The header is cute however and will be your first impression of this blogger’s sense of humor. The bloggeries are left marginalized with a right sided navigation bar that contains the blog essentials. In the navigation bar you will find the Entrecard, About Page, Blog Awards, Blog Poll, and Blogroll titled ‘Listen to Mom and Read These Blogs’. You’ll also find here some advertising and the blogspot Archive Menu which also provides recent posts in clickable links. There are many images that can be found within the bloggeries, with each having an image of its own. This not only makes the bloggery more interesting but the images are often very funny! The design of the blog is quite well-done as well although it can’t seem to escape that basic “I am a Blogspot blog” feeling.

This blog gets a 3.5/5 with just a few suggestions. The blog could use a categories menu, and while the blog seems to be more personal in nature, I still feel the blog would benefit from this added organizational feature. The activity of the blog is well done, with updates coming in daily, and the content is well written and very funny. I think the self-absorbed nature is the overall theme of the blog so take it or leave it. I find that theme to be funny, as I am sure do other readers, but it gets a bit much. The appearance of the blog is neat and clean, but I would suggest changing the size of the header as it is very distracting, and it gives the blog a long load time which, for new readers, might turn them away. That said once loaded it is a nice header. Lastly, while this element does not effect the review score, I would suggest the blogger move this blog over to her own domain for the mere fact that her excellent content would then remain her own. The blog has the readership to support its own domain, and the blogger would definitely have more control over what goes into the blog theme and organization. Overall however, this is a fun and quirky blog to read and recommended to anyone who wants their daily dose of humor.

The Worst SEO Blog Ever may try to fool you into thinking it’s the worst ever with its simple theme and slightly off-the-wall content, but upon further glance, you may find that this is comical relief in a world filled with SEO madness. While the author does seem to be a bit rough around the edges, he really just appears to be a cynic who has spent too much time researching keywords. What end result this brings is a perspective that is refreshing and funny and may actually drop a helpful hint or two along the way. The content is largely adult, with many curse words being used so consider that your disclaimer into the blog content. If you are brave to proceed, you may enjoy the most recent bloggeries: Saravut is Not a Scraper Spammer, just a Jerk; I’ve Seen the Enemy – He’s a Jackass; SEO Hack Gets Canned…; and Saravut is not a Scaper, Spammer - Just a Jerk!.

The blog is easy to navigate with the bloggeries being left-marginalized and a handy right sided navigation bar. Bloggeries are in black text on white background with links highlighted in a dark grey. In the right sided navigation bar you will find a Recent Viewers Widget, Subscription Information, Recent Posts Menu, and then links to many other SEO sites that may have a bit more of the actual information that you need. Moving down you can find a Top Bloggeries Menu, Archives Menu, a variety of blogrolls, and a pull down Categories Menu. The Categories Menu is divided according to contributors, but you will also find interesting information such as SEO Forums, SEO, and SEO Conferences. The blog is primarily textual, but you will find the odd You Tube Video or picture thrown into the odd bloggery.

This blog gets a 2/5 for review with some tweaks needed. The content is well written, and is quite humorous if you are looking for a good laugh on a contemporary topic. The appearance of the blog however needs some work, as the theme is fairly simple, and this simplicity is not compensated with interesting graphics. Outside of the odd You Tube flick, the blog is primarily textual and this kind of appearance has the tendency to drive readers away in a visually driven Internet world. Navigation is easy however, with all of the blog essentials easy to find and access, and the uniqueness of the blog is certainly a plus. Activity also could use some work with ts most recent bloggeries appearing in 2008, and with more regular content, this blog could be that much more successful. If this blog is merely a forum to complain and swear, it is serving its purpose, however if it is readers the blog is looking for, he is going to have to work a bit harder to sustain them. Sadly the blog scores close to it’s promise.

If you live in the state of Florida, and are having troubles getting financing for your dream home, you may want to check out the Florida Mortgage Blogger. Here you will find the blog written by Kevin, a Mortgage Professional in Florida who has as his life mission to ‘help good people achieve their Florida Home Loan goals’. Kevin’s blog is all about serving the people of Florida, and you can get a good feel for this through his header which states he is ‘building better relationships one step at a time’. Kevin’s work is focused on the Winter Haven, Florida area, and he works both with clients and real estate agents as you will see on his blog. He has been in the mortgage industry for two years now, and works to assist clients in obtaining financing that meets their unique requirements. He does so by primarily working with FHA and VA loan programs to offer more flexible and affordable options in mortgage loans. You can see this for yourself through any of Kevin’s most recent bloggeries: Weekly Winter Haven Mortgage Rate Report: February 9, 2009; Home Buyers Are on the Move as Rates Stay Low and Pending Sales Rise; Would You Buy a Home for $15,000?; FL Mortgage Rates Finally Hit Bottom?; and Winter Haven Sees Lower Mortgage Rates After Geithner’s Speech.

This blog is set up more like a business website than a blog, and thus is missing some blog meat that is making the blog a little cumbersome to navigate. Bloggeries are centralized with both left and right sided navigation bars with a lot of information on Florida Home Loans. In the top navigation bar you can find standard links to the About Page and Home page. The left navigation bar will give you subscription information as well as a Recent Comments Menu and Yahoo widget showing you how many Yahoo links the blog has. In the right sided navigation bar, you will find Contact Information, and a form you can fill out to get onto Kevin’s mailing list, as well as a Pages Menu. In the Pages Menu you will find links to the About Page, Interviews and Podcasts, Orlando, Florida area, Testimonials, and a link to subscribe by Email. Bloggeries are primarily textual with a few pictures and charts within the bloggeries, so you get a strong business sense from the blog’s presentation.

This blog gets a 3.4/5 at the time of review, and needs a few tweaks to look more like a blog and less like a business page. Activity is up to date, so this blog scores well on how it feeds the search engines and meets the needs of its readers. Is the blog for loan clients or for real estate agents? For realtors, terms and language used on this blog would be useful, but the average home owner to-be is not familiar with terms such as ‘Absorption Rates’ and the like. Sales reports mean little to the home owner, but would be useful for the real estate agent. Content needs to be ‘dumbed down’ for the average Internet reader perhaps. Some relevant pictures, perhaps of homes for sale in the area, would speak to prospective home owners and add some meaning to the bloggeries for them. And regardless of who the blog is targeted to, essential blog items such as a Categories Menu and Recent Posts Menu would make this blog much easier to navigate and look more like an information resource on the topic. This blog is off to a great start as far as reaching the real estate market, but needs some tweaks in terms of user friendliness if it is trying to reach as many potential prospects as possible.

If you are looking for a great blog about nothing specific, then you will want to check out the Keys and Bars blog. Originally the blogger intended this to be a music blog, hence the phrase Keys and Bars, however once the writing began, it quickly turned into a blog where thoughts are shared and the masses are entertained. One of the first things you will notice about this blog is the creativity and wittiness on the blogger’s part, which always makes for a great read regardless if the topic is specific, or about nothing in particular. The blogger brings a wide range of experiences to the table such as having beat the 8 ranked Uno player in the world, twice, among many other fantastic feats. Get a taste for this great blog by checking out any of the recent bloggeries: sup hitler, hippo fail, review: strawberry jam, oh lord it’s big lee., and how to beat a movie psycho.

The blog is well organized and this makes it easy to navigate. Bloggeries are left marginalized and appear in black text on a white background with colourful accents throughout the blog. There is a right sided navigation bar that contains all of the necessary blog meat, and here you will find a Search Bar, Contact Information, Recent Posts Menu, Categories Menu, Blogroll, and some advertising. You will also find a handy navigation bar in the header of the blog where you can move to the Home pages or About page from anywhere in the blog. The Categories Menu is extensive, and indicative of the wide range of topics discussed on the blog, and include such topics as 5 Questions, Accidents Happen, Cool Hair, Don’t Get Cocky, Eli Porter, and G.O.A.T. which stands for ‘Greatest of All Time’. These are just a few of the unique topics that you can read about at the Keys and Bars Blog.

Overall this blog gets a 3.4 for review as it does well on all review criteria. From a content perspective, the content is fresh and funny, even on topics such as strawberry jam, so this blogger definitely has a flair for writing and expressing that to his readers. The only comment I would have on the content is to perhaps make some of the bloggeries a little longer than where they currently stand which is often nothing more than a few lines. With content this good, this blogger wants to leave more food out for their readers, and longer bloggeries will do so. The activity score is what is keeping this below a 4 at the time of publishing this review. It was good until halfway through the December, with activity coming in daily. Considering the range of topics it should not be too difficult for this blogger to post from time to time. It would be a shame to let an otherwise good blog to waste. Navigation wise the blog is very easy to move around with its clean and organized template, and the Appearance of the blog is aesthetically pleasing and designed in such a way that the blog is enjoyable to both look at and read. As far as unique, this blog scores well for that as well, with its unique take on anything and everything in its creatively managed content. For a fun blog about nothing in particular, check out the Keys and Bars blog as the great content will be more than enough to make you a regular reader.

- Chrissie

Bloggeries is stepping a little outside the box with this review, with a look at a cutting edge website known as BloggersBase. If you have been looking for a one stop shop for heaps of quality content from the blogosphere, then BloggersBase is where you need to be. BloggersBase is an online magazine created by and for bloggers, providing a community and online publishing forum where all bloggers can contribute and influence the readership and on site content. In a few words, BloggersBase is a website where you can add and read content on just about anything, and quality content is what you will find. The authors of BloggersBase are bloggers just like you, with each one having something different to say and an edgy twist by which they say it. True quality content that sets the bar for excellent reading is the type of material that you will find here. By joining the site you can both contribute and influence the content you come across. Posts are submitted by bloggers who join the community, and you can use your own blog posts, or create something different. And, if someone likes you post, they can rate it and influence the readership at BloggersBase. The more you rate, and the more professional your ratings are, the greater your influence. BloggersBase assures you that you will get the highest quality content in the topic of your choice, and you can see this for yourself through some of the most recently published bloggeries: Educational Value of Youtube, Best Places to Buy an LCD TV, Dealing with Teenagers, You do not need anyone’s permission to be your true self, and 25 Top Blogging Mistakes to Avoid.

BloggersBase is not a blog, but a community of authors, and so it will take you some time to get used to the navigation. While at first glance it looks a little confusing and complicated, once you understand the concept of the website, you will breeze through the many navigation systems. There is a top menu you will want to check out first, where you can find links to the Home Page, a What’s Bloggers Base page that explains the site, Blog, Readers, and Bloggers. You can join as a reader or a blogger and influence the posts online accordingly. Navigate through the left navigation bar and you will get a better idea of what to expect here. Here you will find the categories you can read or publish on, such as Entertainment, Lifestyle, Technology, World Affairs, Special Events, Partnerships, and Suggestions. You can read the Most Recent Posts, check out who is faring the best at BloggersBase through the Statistics Zone, or subscribe to the feeds.

This blog gets a 4.8/5 for being near perfect for the requirements of our reviews. The website is definitely cutting edge when it comes to the world of blogging, and provides a fresh spin on blogging. The content is top notch and the site design is laid out in an easy to navigate and well organized appearance. Overall, for the avid bloggers that are looking for a new means to market their blogs or exceptional posts, this is a concept that will definitely work well in the blogosphere. And judging by the amount of content and the statistics zone, this web site is not taking long to catch on with the reading public. If you have a blog or something really neat to say, you will want to check out BloggersBase and get in on the action sooner than later.
