10 Ways To Be More Popular and Have Friends

There is a world of people out there just waiting to get to know you. That may seem implausible, but it is true. There are many people who would like you and want to be your friend if they only knew you. And so, part of winning more friends and being popular is getting out there and meeting more people. There are several other ways to win more friends and be more popular but let's start right there.

1. Get out and meet new people
Of course, you can make friends with people you have met and had a little to do with for years. But the chances are that if you have known them a while and you still don't count them as friends, they aren't the kinds of people with whom you would want to strike up a friendship. That means, to make more friends, you have to get out and meet new people. Find a new interest or hobby and get out to relevant gatherings so that you can meet like-minded people.

2. Strike up conversations
Talking with a stranger can be difficult, but until you have had a conversation with them, you can't know whether or not you like them. You can't make them your friend without talking with them. This is easier if you have met over some mutual interest, like at a concert, sports meet or club. If you have met someone this way, you already know that they share a mutual interest with you so you can talk about that. Even if you just make a comment about what you think on the topic, the chances are that they will reply with a comment of their own, and then you have started a conversation and you're on the way to becoming friends.

3. Be a good listener
Friendship is based upon communication. That is a two-way street. So, as well as having to be able to start conversations if you want to win more friends and be more popular, you have to be able to listen to the answers that you get so you can respond to them appropriately.Conversations need to be two-way processes. In order to make friends, you have to get to know people quite well, and you can only really do that by not only talking to them, but by listening to what they say to you. In order to have the confidence to talk to people and to have them ask you questions too, you have to:

Again, you may not find this easy, especially if you have had a lot of negative feedback in your life, but you need to do it. It sounds like a cliché, but if you want other people to like you, you really do have to like yourself first. If you like yourself, you will project yourself differently and deal with people in quite a different way to how you would if you didn't like yourself. If you are negative or down on yourself, you are more likely to evoke feelings of pity rather than friendship. So, learn to like yourself and make it easier for other people to like you and be your friend. Start with finding just one thing that you like about yourself. Make as much as you can of this attribute and let it buoy up your confidence.

5. Know yourself
If you are truly going to like yourself and not compromise on your happiness in order to say you have friends, you need to know a few things about yourself. You need to be honest with yourself about what your ideas, values and beliefs are. Are some of these beliefs blocking you from making friends? These could be all manner of things: offensive ideas, negative self-beliefs which stop you talking to people etc. On the other hand, are there ideas and beliefs which you really hold dear and don't want to change? These things should be reserved in your personality even as you seek friends. It would also be a good starting point to think of finding potential friends who share these ideas, too.

6. Smile
If you smile at people, it helps to make them feel more important and valued. People like and respect people who value them, so you will appear much more positively in their eyes if you smile at them. Smiling makes it look like you are having fun, and consequently, as if you would be fun to know. People will be attracted to that and want to get to know you better. They may even be intrigued and wonder what your secret of happiness is!

7. Stay true to yourself
Part of liking yourself and being able to smile openly and be receptive to new friends is in staying true to yourself. You can't really like yourself if you change yourself to fit in with the 'in' crowd, doing things that you don't agree with. So don't do it! Having found what you like about yourself, keep it that way. Of course you can adapt slightly. Friendships, like all relationships, require adaptation to another person, but in doing that, you shouldn't lose sight of who you are. You shouldn't do things you don't agree with, just to make friends. They aren't the right friends for you if you need to change yourself that much for them to like you.

8. Be selective about your friends
More friends are not necessarily better than good friends. With good friends, they will know the real you and like you for who you are. They will share your interests and at least some of your opinions. Those are the people who will make you happy, so choose your friends with care. Don't be talked into doing things you don't want to do, just to have their approval.

9. Put yourself out for people
True friends don't just make small talk. They help each other. So, if you want to be more popular, you should be there for the bad times as well as the good. If you have a friend who needs you, you should be willing to help them. It may be as simple as giving someone a heartfelt compliment. That will make them feel good and make them want to be friendly with you. Of course, there is no need to compromise your standards or to bankrupt yourself to help a friend. Sometimes all that is necessary is for you to be there to listen to them as they tell you their troubles. Sometimes they may call on you for practical as well as emotional support. Good friends give this support to each other.

10. Give friendship time to develop
Friendship isn't born in one or two conversations. It develops over time. Trying to force the issue of friendship will actually push people further away from being your friend.

Relax and trust that you are someone worthy of friendship. Smile and appear as if you are open to friendship by talking to people and listening to what they say to you. Look for friends in the people who share your interests and stay true to yourself. You will soon attract people to you and develop friendships with them. Let it happen!

American Pie 4 - Band Camp - 2005 DVDRip

Things get complicated as Matt becomes romantically involved with Elyse, his own school band’s director, whose ambition is to beat haughty five-fold winner Brandon Vandecamp -son of a famous, rich father- as band music composer and thus win a good shot at a scholarship for an exclusive music school. For her sake Matt turns musician (on the trivial triangle by her decree, bagpipes in surprising scenes) and proves his leadership skills, but courting a ‘decent’ girl just doesn’t square with voyeurism…

The rivalry gets so intense that the only way to settle it is through direct competition in the Greek Games, an ancient campus ritual that went so far out of control it was banned forty years ago. It turns out that even Geeks can be bullies, so the Betas have to pull together to fend off the Geeks and prove that some traditions deserve to be upheld.

So you want to buy a laptop but don't know where to start. You're not alone. Buying a new laptop can present many challenges, especially if you're unfamiliar with laptops or notebook computers.

Over the last little while so much new laptop technology has hit the market... Intel Duo Processors, SLI, Dual Graphics... it can all be totally mind boggling to the average consumer. For the first time laptop buyer understanding all the techno jargon can be downright scary.

Mainly because a whole new generation of notebook technology comes around every two years or less; probably much less when you consider all the new advances made recently. It can even be a little overwhelming even for someone like myself who runs an online Laptop Guide and who has a keen interest in all things laptop.

Regardless of all these fancy new improvements, devices and notebook technology, you must remember you're buying a new laptop for you and you alone. You must first decide if all this new stuff is important to you? Do you really need all this new notebook technology?

But most of all before you can consider that question you must first figure out WHY you want a laptop? Why are you buying a laptop? What chores or tasks do you want the laptop to perform?

If you just want a laptop for simple web browsing and emailing, a laptop made five years ago will do the job nicely and cost you a heck of lot less. You really don't need a top of the line laptop unless of course, you're keeping up with the Jones and want the latest top model of everything. But that's moving into Dr. Phil's territory... lets not venture there!

So what do you need the laptop for?

Do you need a lightweight portable laptop for business trips or meetings? Do you need a student notebook for classes? Or do just want a desktop replacement computer that you can easily move around in your home?

Your answer will greatly determine which type of laptop you should buy.

In my case, I needed a desktop replacement that I could easily move around my home and take on very infrequent trips or vacations. Long battery life was not a major consideration because I would mainly be using it plugged into an electrical outlet. Besides, the laptop I wanted would be 7 or 8 pounds and I had no intentions of lugging that baby around over any great distance.

I work full time at home and do a lot of web design so I needed a solid machine with a lot of RAM. I also enjoy downloading and enjoying the occasional movie so a DVD Multi Drive and a wide screen display were important. High quality graphics and sound was also important for what I needed.

* RAM

RAM is to computer what location is to real estate. RAM or Random Access Memory is perhaps the most important factor to consider when buying your laptop or any computer.

RAM will greatly determine the speed of your laptop or computer. How fast it will process your tasks and graphics. You must make sure you have enough for your needs. You can now find many laptops pre-loaded with 1 Gig of RAM and capable of upgrading to 4 Gigs or more.

Compared to yesterday's computers that's a lot of RAM. If you're not into gaming, handling large video files/editing, all that RAM is not needed but it will make your laptop run faster. Also, remember if you're into gaming, Video RAM will be important -- you need a top of the line (read expensive) Graphics Card and it will increase the cost of your laptop.

Also it may be wise to buy a laptop with upgradable memory - since new applications, multi windowed browsers, streaming video... of the very near future may place high demand on your laptop's RAM.

* Dual Core Processors

CPU or computer Processing Unit is the heart of your laptop and in this case you have Two Hearts -- Intel Centrino Duo is the front runner in this area right now. However, AMD is giving Intel some stiff competition in the dual core battle with its Athlon™ 64 X2 dual core processor. Either one would be a wise choice.

* Hard Drive

The amount of space or size of laptop hard drives are steadily increasing, a 100 Gig laptop is now common. If you don't want a lot of storage, buying a smaller size hard drive will save you money.

Many laptop experts choose the SATA hard drive with a high 5400 or 7200 RPM.

* Weight or Size

Perhaps the major reason you're considering buying a laptop is its size or weight -- otherwise you're better of saving your money and buying a desktop computer instead. A laptop is portable, you can carry it anywhere... tuck it under your arm and cart it to class or your next business meeting. It is ideal for taking your information and work to wherever you want to go. This portability is the main selling feature of a laptop.

Obviously you must pick the best sized laptop to suit your needs. Laptops are divided into different categories, here's a quick rundown:

* Price

Laptop prices are steadily falling, it is now possible to get a quality laptop for well under a $1000. Many are selling at the $500 - $600 range. High quality gaming laptops offered by such specialty laptop makers as Alienware, Rock, will still set you back 3 to 4 grand. Ouch!

* Warranties

Don't overlook this factor, if you're buying an expensive laptop, you might want to check out these extended warranties. If you do a lot of traveling, you might need to purchase insurance against thief and loss.

You must also check out the service records/reputation of the major brand names.

I researched all the different laptops and found the one that met my requirements and price. I bought it in the real world at a local Computer store mainly because I wanted to examine the laptop's graphics and keyboard in the flesh. Open your favorite programs and check the processing speed of your laptop. Bring along a DVD and sample the sound and graphics. Take note of any problems or irritations that may pop-up, in my case it was a small right shift key but this was so minor I knew I could get used to it and it didn't stop me from buying my desired laptop.

* Research Your Laptop

Use the Internet to research your desired laptop, know exactly what components it has and know what software is already preloaded. Be careful of salespeople who will try to charge you extra for configuring or installing programs on your laptop when these programs may already be preloaded at the factory stage! I settled on a Toshiba Satellite P100-SD3: it has Intel Duo, 1 Gig of RAM, 100 Gig Hard Drive, 17" widescreen TrueBrite Display, compatible with the new Windows Vista... it meets all my needs and I am quite pleased with my new laptop. And I will be writing a full review after I have used it for a couple of weeks... but that's another article.

If you consider most of the simple points and check out the factors listed above then making your own laptop purchase will not only be quite painless but it may even prove an enjoyable experience. Do a little homework and you will easily find the perfect laptop for you.

In this article, I will outline how a planned internet marketing approach can lead to positive results for your business. I will begin the article by addressing a few common misperceptions about Facebook that I hear most frequently from my clients. Next, I will detail how to use and set up the various sections of a Facebook account. I will conclude with several recommended applications that will add functionality to your company Facebook page.

Common misperception #1: Facebook is only for personal use
Each time I give presentations on using social networking sites for business there is the perception in the audience that Facebook is only useful for communicating with friends and family. Facebook started as a closed community for college students, and has not been as effective as Linkedin at highlighting the business page and advertising features. However, Facebook continues to grow in use by companies looking to reach the more than 200 million active users, and has very powerful and targeted demographic tools that help companies to hone in on their target market.

Common misperception #2: Facebook is only for college students
According to the Facebook Press Room page, there are more than 200 million active users on Facebook and a million new members are joining each week in the U.S. alone. Contrary to what many of my audiences believe- more than two-thirds of Facebook users are not in college. According to comscore.com, more than 50% of Facebook's users in the U.S. are over 35; the single biggest age demographic in the U.S. on Facebook is now between 35 and 44, and Facebook's fastest growing age group is 55 and older. They also reported that Facebook ranks as the top social networking site in the majority of European countries.

Common misperception #3: I am too busy for this, and besides-it is not worth my time
Some of the reasons why social networking sites like Facebook are increasingly being used by companies is because they provide businesses the opportunity to easily and efficiently communicate regularly with the people in their network. Networks can include people with whom they are currently doing business, people whom they would like to do business, vendors, and potential business partners.

Social networking sites like Facebook are serving as an adjunct to, and in some cases, replacement for, traditional means of communication such as newsletters and direct mail. Facebook can be used to regularly announce or get feedback on new products, spotlight new employees or existing employees accomplishments or talents, reward customer loyalty, promote special events and special offers, as well as to create partnerships. According to a Forrester Research interactive marketing online research survey (March 2009): "40% of companies surveyed expect to cut direct mail budgets, while 35% will decrease newspaper spend, and 28% will slash magazine money in order to spend more in interactive media." Some companies have reported that by using these online means of communication they have reduced their marketing budget while at the same time increasing sales.

Why Social Networking works:
What companies that use social networking sites are finding is that these sites allow them to more regularly communicate with people, vendors, clients, colleagues, and prospects, which, in turn, helps business understand their customers needs better, increase trust, and therefore build better business relationships. Most people know that Facebook has been helpful as a tool for connecting or re-connecting with friends, family and co-workers. And most understand that even the personal connections have the potential to become new business opportunities-so it makes sense that Facebook can be used to communicate with those in the business milieu.

How to Set Up a Facebook Profile:
To make use of Facebook you need to set up an account. After registering you need to do the following in order of importance:

1. Create a Profile
In order to begin to use Facebook you must create a profile detailing information about yourself. Based on site policies, you can create only 1 profile, and it must be tied to a human name, preferably your real name, not a business name. We will review setting up your business page later in this article, but first you must set up your personal profile. If you are a married female, use your maiden and married names so more people can find you. Facebook has a "Friend Finder" feature that allows users to search for people by school, company, or organization. In order for people to find you -you must so be sure to list all of your previous schools, organizations, employers, in your profile. Thoroughly complete the "About Me" section to describe your business and what services or products you offer. In the "Information" box on your profile page, you need to include links to your website address, newsletter, blog and other business information such as your company contact information, logo and a photo of yourself. Your profile page should be considered your "branding" page or your marketing campaign. If you are working for a company-you don't have to list all your personal interests-just limit your entry to listing your professional interests. You can syndicate your blog on your profile page. By doing this you are enabling any post that you make to automatically appear on your profile page and all of those people who are connected to you will see it.

2. Build Your Contact List
Facebook was created based on the concept of connecting with friends. You can send and receive "friend requests" and once accepted, your friend can view your profile and you can view theirs. To begin connecting with people that you know, you can either import your address book/ contact database, or you can also search Facebook for individual people.

You can also view the friends list of each person with whom you are connected. If you know any of your new friend's connections, or you would like to know them-you can send a connection request. You can grow your friend list by inviting all your clients, business associates, customers, family, friends, co-workers, school alumni, neighbors, and anyone else you think would be interested in connecting. I would suggest also using the search feature on Facebook to look up people with whom you have lost contact. After befriending -your profile will show up on all your friends' pages. Therefore, the more friends you have- the more pages your profile will appear-leading to more people who will see your page and possibly get in touch with you.

3. Communicate by using Wall Posts
Each Facebook member has a "wall" where friends can post messages. In the business networking world, this is the online equivalent of calling them on the phone. You can send a complement to a colleague on their work by writing this on their wall, comment on their new service or product offering, or communicate an upcoming training or networking opportunity.

4. Update Your Status
At the top of your Facebook page is a status box. When you post a status update, everyone in your friends list can see your update on their home page. For business owners, this is the place to share tips, promote events, post blog updates, announce new products, links to your affiliate programs, links to interesting video or audio presentations, websites, articles, and newsletters.You can add updates as often as you are able in the " What's on you mind?" box. These will appear on all of your friends' pages so ensure that they are meant for everyone on your friend list, and are professional in nature. Otherwise, you risk people removing you from their list.

5. Participate in Groups
Online groups allow you to network virtually with potential clients and peers. You can also join Groups on Facebook that are related to your work. There are groups for therapist, teachers, coaches, and every conceivable profession. You can network, and learn from experts in the field. Another way to maximize the potential and relevance of these groups is to start one of your own. There is no cost to do this and this is a great way to improve your company's visibility. For example, I started a group for mental health facility administrators in Boston. This group is now a resource for sharing best practices and may over time lead to mutual referral relationships. To access groups, start from your Facebook home page, view the list of applications and click on "Groups." You can browse through thousands of groups by area of interest, by industry and geography. There are an incredibly varied selection of topics and professions all over the map.

6. Build Your Friends List
For business purposes, it makes sense to have as many friends as possible. One way to do this is to join a group and send connection requests to fellow members with a note letting them know of your interest in connecting with them on Facebook. Just as you would with an in-person business introduction, be sure to check out their profile and learn about what they are currently doing. Networking always works best when there is a two-way exchange. Find ways you can be helpful to them such as introducing them to a colleague or potential business partner and they may likely reciprocate and return the favor. Also, create your own events page, or post on the Facebook "Events page." You can even see how many RSVP and get feedback from attendees.

7. Create Fan Pages
Because Facebook requires that a profile be designated to a person, not a business, they have instead provided the ability to create fan pages. You can create a fan page for a business, book, product, author, speaker, celebrity or just about anything else you want. To create a fan page, scroll all the way down to the bottom of Facebook and click on "Advertising" (don't worry, this is free to set-up). Next, click on "Pages" at the top of the screen. You will find some helpful explanations about how pages work, along with the link that will allow you to create your own fan page. Once your page is created you can add links, events, discussion boards and other features that make them interactive. Your updates from your fan pages will appear on your profile so your friends will know about them. You can invite people to become a "fan" of your page as an alternative to sending friend requests which will help you to further cultivate an online community

8. Use the Marketplace
Facebook has an online marketplace that allows you to list your services and products at no cost. This is a great way for you or your company to get exposure. You can also use the marketplace to find items or services that you need.

How To Set Up a Business Page on Facebook
Setting up a business page is easy. Just log in to your profile page and scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Then click on "Advertising" or by following this link: http://www.facebook.com/business That will bring up a page with the blue links one of which is called "Pages." Click on Pages, and then click on the green "Create a Page" box on the right of the screen. You can now start filling this information in to create and customize your business page.

After you create your business page, Facebook will automatically add an application called the "Page Manager" which should be located on the top and left side of your log. Again choose Facebook Pages, then choose the best category for your business. Click this link to load your business page where you can then edit and add to the existing content.

It is important that you choose the name of your Facebook page carefully because the page name will become your key word search terms, and is the only text that is used in a search on a Facebook page. Once your page is in place, you can add applications that help to enhance how you represent your company in your own unique way. To find applications for Facebook, click on "Applications" in the upper left corner of your page, or search for them at this link: http://www.facebook.com/apps Applications are fairly easy to install and to set up. If you have difficulty with any one application-please note that there is often more than one application available to accomplish the same task.

Facebook Applications for Business:
Simply RSS : This allows you to display up to eight RSS feeds on your Facebook page and display the feeds from your business's main site and newsrooms.
Upcoming: Add all of your events to upcoming.org, and you can easily display them on your Facebook page with Upcoming's Facebook application.
My Flickr: Display photos from your Flickr account using this application. These photos can include logos, product photos, photos from events, etc.
Posted Items Pro: Allows you to embed multiple YouTube, Yahoo, and Google Videos, music mp3s, sites, files, and more onto your profile and Facebook pages. You can add any variety of these elements, making it great for a media center or press section.
Twitter APP: If you have a Twitter account this application will automatically pull your tweets into your Facebook status, and it automatically installs a Twitter-themed icon letting all you friends on Facebook know that you are on Twitter. It also saves you time in updating and ensures that you have some profile activity to keep you relevant. If you are not on Twitter yet-you can add this at any time.

Make the Time to Stay Relevant
In order to stay relevant on Facebook, you need to continually update your Page and use the site. If you do not have the time needed to do this consistently- then I would suggest you hire a copywriter or social media consultant to help. The more actions you take, the more you appear in a fan's News Feed. This keeps you in their mind, and in their friend's feeds when they interact with you. But updating content will do more than keep you on the News Feed; it will also help make your Facebook Page one that people will return to by offering fans an incentive to continue to read your content and return to your page. There are many ways to do this such as providing exclusive content, special promotional pricing, exclusive contests, product previews, or privileged access to company events.

You already know Blogspot. You already know Wordpress. Those two are the most used blog site that internet users use. And maybe some of you know about Livejournal, and TypePad too. And maybe Multiply.

This detailed tip will explain to you how to generate and submit your Blogspot sitemap into Google Search Engine.

Before we start to the first step, let me give you a brief explanation about Google Search Engine, and how to submit your Blogspot sitemap into it. As we already known, we can set all our article in Blogspot to be able to search by Google. But, one thing you must know, your Blogspot is a sub domain of the Blogspot it self. Means, you not owning it. It is a sub domain from Blogspot that you can use. So, the question then is how if we want to make it really really our own site? The answer is claim it as yours. And to do that, we need to use services that we can get free to announce the world that you own the site. Here, Google give us its services, called Google Webmaster Tools. Further more, what is the advantage of using this services? First, it will help Google bot to crawl to your site. Then, index the pages or article of your Blogspot, so you can know exactly how many page or article has been indexed. and give reports if they got problem when trying indexing your Blogspot. The best part is, you can know from where people reach your site, and what article they look for by typing the keywords in their search engine.

Let me explain the detailed step to submit your Blogspot into Google Webmaster Tools.

1. First, go to Google Webmaster Tools and sign in with your Gmail account.

2. After you logged in, you will see the welcome message. To start, you have to add a site.

Add your blog url, for example : bloggerleague.blogspot.com. Do not include the http:// or www. Just your primary address of your blog.

3. The result will bring NOT VERIFIED status. You need to verify your blog. It need to confirm that you are the true owner of the site.

4. There are two ways to verify your ownership. But, there is only one way for blogger to verify the ownership of the blog, is by adding the metatag.

5. Copy the metatag code. Starting from <> .

6. Then, sign in to your blogger account. Click the Layout Tab, choose Edit HTML, then paste the metatag code right after the head tag and Save Changes.

In some cases, there's an error. Like this :
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly. XML error message : The element type "meta" must be terminated by the matching end tag "".

To correct this error, just make sure you add a sign on "/" at the end of the meta tag code, before the sign more than (>). See here :

Save the Changes.

7. Back to your Google Webmaster Tools and Click on the "Verify" button. There will be a confirmation message saying that you have successfully verified.

8. Wait, that does not mean that you are done. You need to add your blog sitemap, to help Google crawl to your site. Still in your Google Webmaster Tools, click on the link of "Submit a Sitemap" on the right bottom corner.

9. There, you will see your blog url, but with a blank spaces. Fill it with rss.xml, then click on the "Submit Sitemap" button.

10. That's it. You are done completely. Check your account on Google Webmaster Tools on the next 2 or 3 days, to see how Google indexed your site. You can see any error there, if any.

How To Install Blogger Templates ?

Before we step a head, it is better that we make the basic step for all of you.

Here is the tutorial on how to install the templates from this site :

1. First, you must download the template, then unzip with winzip or winrar.

2. Then sign in to your Blogger Dashboard and click on the layout link.

3. Please remember, after you uploading any new Blogger template, all your previous widgets like profile, text, polls, and the others, will be lost (including your Google Adsense or your other ads). So, before uploading, make sure you already backup all your widgets data by clicking every edit and copy your widgets data to other application, such as Notepad, Wordpad or Word.

4. After you feel safe with your widgets data, then click on Edit HTML tab.

5. There's an optional to download your current template. For your insurance, do it!

6. Then upload your xml file that you already download (step 1), by clicking Browse button, and direct it to your file. Click Upload.

7. The result will bring you message saying that your widget are about to delete. Click on Confirm and Save (because we already have the backup widgets data from the step 3 above).
8. There you go. Your template is already installed.
9. You can return your widgets by adding your "Add and Arrange Page Elements".

Note : Please remain that the images in your template is came from somewhere. And it will need some bandwith to the hosting. If the bandwith exceeded, don't be shocked that your blog will have no images. To avoid it, make sure you already host your blog images to your own hosting.
And how do we know which file is it? Just click on the "Edit HTML", and go inside the xml code, find the image files (start with http:// and ended with .jpg, .gif or .png).
And don't forget to save the changes!
