Adding alt text and tags to images is very essential for search engine optimization because the search engine spiders pulls out the image together with the post whenever a related keyword is searched on Google image search and if you haven,t started using this features, then i bet you are losing out your traffic. On default, web spiders bot can not read images except if you tell them what the image are all about by adding alt text and tags.

How to add alt text to post images.

Alt text before you start brainstorming simply means alternative text and to add this alternative text to your images, first you will have to upload image to blogger post, after that click on it and you will see "properties" as shown below,

click on it and a window box will appear like this,

write your keywords in the add alt text box and click ok that's all simple and clear. You are done. Remember to use only keywords and phrase that best describe the images as i have said above.

Google analytic is the best site to check your blog or website,s data report like your visitors, pageviews, keywords searched for and other statistical analysis report. With GA reports, you can easily know where your visitors are coming from, how they navigate your sites, what keywords lead them to your site and what pages they landed on via the search engine. This is the best information that you need to improve your website traffic if you don't have the money to buy traffic. Statcounter and Google webmaster tool also provides similar report and you can use it for this project too. With all these detailed reports, you can easily increase your website traffic and that of your adsense revenue. Today, am going to show you how to increase your website's organic traffic from Google search engine using statistical reports from GA and Statcounter.

I assume you already have a Google Analitics or statcounter account and your site has already been linked to them respectively otherwise this post will not help you now, you must have to sign up with Statcounter and add a project (add your website) then wait for one week for your site detail reports to be crawled before coming back here. So lets get started.

Using Statcounter for this tutorials

1. Log on your statcounter account and select the project you want to work with, it looks like the screenshot below.

2. Then click on Recent keyword activity (see screen shot below) to reveal all the keywords searched that lead to your site.

You will see all the keywords that visitors use to locate your site, where they came from and what page they landed on. You can use this keyword to optimize your site content and meta description. This is how your report will look like

The Recent keyword activity shows all the keywords for which your visitors search and locate your site together with the corresponding post or pages they landed on, that's cute isn't it? now make a list of all the keywords searched and their corresponding post, pages or links as mentioned and seen in the picture above.

Now go to your post and edit the entire post by inserting these keywords in your post, bold, underline them and also create anchor links with this keywords linking to other pages. Google gives priority to bold, underlined and anchor text but be careful no to overdo this as you can be easily flagged off and penalized for spamming. Again do not forget to put these keywords in the meta description of those post. If you find other related post and their keywords in Statcounter reports, go and edit them and add a link back to the first post with the anchor text as the keyword. Exchange links within your post with these keywords. After doing these, you will see an improvement in your organic traffic within some days. You will see an increased number of organic hits to that post on that keyword via Google search engine. Your ranking for that keyword will also increase.

You can repeat this steps for your other posts also if possible all of them and you will get some good traffic. What about other post that does not appear on search result even when a keyword relating to that topic is been searched? this can happen simply because your post is not well optimised for keywords so to find a relevant keyword to that post and optimise it properly, just write down few relevant keywords from that post and research to know the volume of searches on that particular keywords. Go to www.semrush.com or keywordspy.com you will get a very good report. If the search volume is high, use the keyword or phrases with high volume search and optimize your posts with them. Use meta tag description for individual post its mandatory here. This tips will surely help you increase your website traffic in the long run.

Google webmaster is a nice tool that gives you all the necessary clues to track your site's performances, providing keywords and key phrases that you can use to increase your site's URL and keyword ranking. If you ain't already using this tool, then you are losing out your traffic. you will have to verify your site with Google webmaster tool and also submit your sitemap before these records can be available to track in your account. This article will show you how to use Google webmaster tool reports of your site for effective search engine optimization.

Understanding Google webmaster tool

Every blogger knows that content is king, but content no matter how many they are without proper SEO services will do you no good. a friend of mine on bloggerslab once complained that he published about 9 articles on his blog a day but yet didn't get even 1 page view, while others are getting thousands of page views on a single post on their blog. it's possible not because his articles are worthless but simply because there are not visible on the Search Engine Result page.

But with the use of Google webmaster tool reports, you can know what keyword or phrases are been searched and how many times your site URL appears on the same keywords searched result page plus how many clicks your received, with the use of Impression, Clicks, CTR, Avg. Position and Change columns. These are important Google webmaster terminologies you must know about. You can read Understanding Google webmaster tool terminologies for a better understanding. here is a one month snapshot of Google webmaster tool report for my site Bloggersfaq, The Objective of this research is to tackle the keywords that can generate maximum visit to your site and i took the help of Google webmaster tool in doing this.

I use this record to know how well or badly my site is performing so that i can maximize visit to my site, in this case my site was performing too poor so i need to do some keyword research and placement. Now you will have to pay close attention to the number of impressions, ctr, the average position an how they are changing, If your keyword record shows high impression with low clicks and low percentage of CTR (click through ratio), then you probably need to work on your keyword placement in your contents and Meta tags, modify your content with the keywords and include them in your meta tags also.

To get this reports for your site, log on to your Google webmaster tool account, then select the site you want to work with. At your left side you will see Dashboard, below it click on Traffic then click on "Search Queries" you will see the list of searches performed to visit your site in the last 30 days, download the report, you will have to use it. In my Google webmaster tool report above, you will notice that, the keyword "reply button" has 1,000 impression with only 22 clicks, 2% CTR and 18 Avg. position. this means that, there are 1,000 search on the keyword "reply button" that Google displays my site on the result page but only 22 people end up clicking on my link. that is while my ctr on that particular keyword was 2%.

On the other hand, you can see that the keyword "menu bar for blogger" recorded 60 impression with 22 clicks and 37% ctr which would be a good record had it been the impression was high. Note that the higher the ctr, the better your report. So what will i do?

Solution:

I will have to find the landing page for that keyword, optimize the content and meta tag description for a better ranking.

So what if the keyword impression is very low? for example in my record above, "feedburner id" has a very low impression with less than 10 clicks which is very bad, meaning i need to do a lot of work looking for a similar keyword to rank for that page instead of "Feedburner id" which is having too low amount of search.

Solution:

Visit Google keyword Tool and search for similar keywords with very low impression. Select Bold, Exact and Phrase Match type to expand your results. make a list of similar keywords and include them in your content and meta tags then your traffic will start to improve in the long run.

The moment you start practicing this method every month, using your result to modify your site content to provide better match for the searches, your site will start increasing in Avg. position, getting higher CTR and improving in both page and keyword ranking.

Google webmaster tool just like the Google keyword tool and Google Analytics are tools provided by Google to enable webmasters monitor their site's keywords and phrases for high search engine optimization. Google is really helping us with our SEO isn't it? The webmaster tool explains how badly or well your site is performing on some certain keywords and phrases so when you dig these keywords, it is now left for you to use the records to improve your traffic by optimizing your site content using the keywords and phrases with high impressions. But when using the Google webmaster tool, they are few important terminologies you must understand less you mix things up. i was kinda confused myself when using Google webmaster tool until i get to know what the terms Google webmaster search queries, Impressions, Clicks, CTR and Avg. Position are, but this article with help clear things up for you.

Note that you must have to Submit your sitemap to Google webmaster tool before you can get a complete record about your site performance.

Google Webmaster Search Queries:

This feature supplies some information to webmasters explaining search phrases and keywords that your website appears on Google search result page, how many clicks you get on your site, the CTR percentage and Avg Position. In Google webmaster tool, you can find this feature after selecting your site under the webmaster tool Dashboard. there you will see "Traffic" click on it then you will see "Search queries" below is a screen shot.

when you click on the search queries, here is a screen shot of what you will see.

So now we will explain what the meaning of these terms in the column you see above are.

IMPRESSIONS:

This feature provides records of number of times Google has displayed a link to your site when a particular keyword or key phrase is searched on Google website. for example in the screenshot above, Google has display Bloggersfaq on its result page when the keyword "reply button" was searched 1,000 times. i.e. for that search term, Google has displayed a link to my site 1,000 times but note that the keyword might probably be searched more than 1,000 times so only when a link to your site is displayed that impressions are recorded you dig? good.

CLICKS:

Clicks are recorded when the person searching for that keyword actually click on your website link that appears on the result page. Google webmaster tools reveals how many times your site was shown for a given search term (impressions) and how many times it was clicked (Clicks). That is when website Page and keyword ranking is important. the higher your page or keyword ranking, the higher your site will appear on Google search engine result page. but if you did not utilize these keywords effectively, you will not rank well. that is a topic for another day anyway.

If you see the screenshot above, 1,000 impression with only 22 clicks on the search keyword "reply button" is pretty bad, so i will have to work on it.

CTR:

This is an abbreviation for Click Through Rate and it is expressed in percentage. if your site is displayed 100 times (impressions) but only received 10 clicks, that would be 1/10 or 10% CTR. the higher the CTR, the better. A poor CTR could indicate that your keyword entry is very low down the results (Increase your keywords placement) or no one wants to click on it because it is not attractive (Use attractive keywords to explain your page well) or the META tags for that page are not doing very fine (arrange your meta description well using the keywords with high impressions). AVG. POSITION:

Average position shows what position your website URL appears on the result page when the keywords is searched. in the screen shot above, Google webmaster tool reports the average position for the searched keyword reply button as 18 although it does change in position and it's never static.

CHANGE:

The change field shows the percentage that the result has increase (green) or decrease (red) in the date range specified. This is particularly useful to gauge your link building performances.

This Blogger tweak that Highlights author comment on blogger blog is a nice way to differentiate comments on your blog. when you are learning how to design a blogspot blog, then Blogger Tricks CSS HTML Highlighting author comments in blogger is very useful. it will help readers to identify when their questions are directly answered by the author of the blog. This method is not only attractive, it is also important to build high level community on a blog. I have been searching for this code to design my comment box but now that i found it, i think it should be wise to share it with you guys :).

After adding this code to my Blogger template, this is how my comments on this blog will appear henceforth.

This is not a way to say my comments are more important, but just to differentiate the authors comments from the visitors in case you care to know who reply to your comments. This tweak will only highlight authors comment and we will be adding background color, text color and some others we deem necessary.

Highlighting Author Comments in Blogger

1. Logon to Blogger Dashboard.
2. Go to Design or Layout >> Template. [Backup your template first]
3. Click on Edit HTML >> Proceed >> Tick the Expand Widget Template.
4. Search this tag in your template using CTRL+F </body>
5. Add the below code just above it.

Personalize Author Comment Codes to meet your Taste

Now you are already done with the comment box codes but if you want to personalize the author comment box design, then see some of the options I've included below. If you have a specific design in mind, and you can't achieve it with the options given below, feel free to drop a comment and I'll lead you through.

1. To adjust your Author Comment Border, modify the code in blue above: it looks like this code below

You can change the style of your border to solid, dotted, groove, ridge, inset, outset or any style you have in mind. I have used a dashed border for my border style. you can also change the color blue to a different plain color. And again, you can increase the border thickness by adjusting the value 1px to 2px or above. But if you want no border at all, you can simply set it to 0px.

2. Author Comment Background: Here you can either use a plain background color or assign an image as your background. I've used a combination of both (white transparent image with light pink plain color). For plain colors without any image, replace all the Line in green above with this code:

If you want to use only a background image, Then Use the code below instead.

What I discovered and how I fix it

In one of my post, I had written about how to avoid Google ban for invalid click and impression not knowing that my vigilance for avoiding violation of adsense policies would be one day visited with such. Well my policy violation was that, I was linking to sites involved in hosting and sharing copyright materials illegally as alleged. If your blog has external links which link to pages or website which are hosting or distributing copyrighted content, then you are also likely to be visited, your account is in danger. So what you will do is, delete all post which violate Google adsense policies, remove all links pointing to such links and then use this adsense policy violation appeal form, fill and submit. Hopefully, you will get your ads re-activated back in few days.

In my previous post, i wrote on how to add border around your blogger post via template designer but if you are using a third party template on your blog, you might not be able to customize via template designer except you edit it from the template. So today, i will be writing on how to add border round your blogger post and sidebar editing your template codes. This is a fairly simple task but it can be hard if you don't understand coding. i will be working from the Minima template so your own template terminology may be slightly different, but i will teach you where to locate the sidebar area in your CSS style sheet.

Search for this code in your template.

If your template code is different from the one above, then you will have to find your sidebar area in your template as shown in the picture below.

The highlighted codes was the one i found in my template not this particular blog though, you will have to highlight and delete it.

Then replace it with this code below:

Blogspot.com provide its users with two publishing options for their blog, the default blogspot.com or a custom .com domain name for example www.bloggersfaq.com or blogg.bloggerfaq.com. you have the liberty to change your publishing options at any time from the default domain name to a custom registered domain and your content will always remain unaltered. Recently, Google has made changes to its DNS settings and it is pretty much hard for newbies to implement this. Previously i have written a post how to change your blogspot.com to a .com custom domain name but the steps are not complete so today, i will be writing on how to change the DNS settings in other to link your blog to your registered domain name.

How to Get Started

By now i assume you already have your registered domain name handy Okay? right then

Locate your DNS (Domain Name System) settings. Then follow the instructions below to enter your "CNAME" and "A-records."

CNAME
Where it says Name, simply enter "www" and list ghs.google.com as the Host Name. You can checkout detailed instructions on setting up CNAMEs for various registrars here. If yours isn't listed, or if you run into other difficulties, then contact your registrar directly and they can help you out.

A-records (optional)
The following action links your naked domain (example.com) to your actual site (www.example.com). If you skip this step, visitors who leave off the "www" when typing your site address will see an error page. Enter your domain name in the format example.com, and list the I.P. addresses shown below in the "A" section. You'll need to create four separate A-records which point to four different Google IPs.

Now you will have to update your Blogger settings

But before you move onto this step, wait about an hour for your DNS settings to activate. If you attempt to change the publishing settings before the DNS changes activate, then you will get a warning message. Now it’s time to make sure Blogger knows about your custom domain so that Google can direct readers to your blog. Just go back to Blogger and update the information on your Settings | Basic tab. Find the area for "Publishing," and click the link to add a custom domain. You can read step by step guide on how to add a registered custom domain to blogger here.

Congratulations you are set.

Note that,

If your new domain isn't taking you to your blog, wait for 24hours to make sure all the DNS servers have been updated. If it still isn't working, contact your registrar to make sure you entered the DNS settings correctly. Your original Blogspot address will automatically forward to your new domain. That way, any existing links or bookmarks to your site will still work. Your posted images will also continue to display on your blog. Separating your blogger post from sidebar widgets, is the best way to design your blogspot blog to look professional. If you have been looking for how to design your blog so that all your blogger posts and sidebar are in separate boxes, then you have arrived at the right place. Today i will tell you in simple ways how to add border to your blogger post and sidebar.

Note: adding border around blogger post and sidebar is quite different from adding border inside blogger post.

Log in to your blogger, navigate to layout if you are still on the old blogger interface, then click on Design, then template designer. click on advance

and then Add CSS.

Adding border line around and inside blogger individual post gives you the advantage of creating a sub-post-like content. This improves the readability of your blog post as it gives you the ability to lay emphasis on a particular area in your post. This is what i do most times on my individual post. But this tutorial is quite different from the one i wrote on how to add border to blogger post. you can read it as well.

These are some practical examples you can read, learn and apply

You can style your border any way you want, giving it different colors, sizes, and styles. Below are some examples of what you will achieve at the end of this tutorial.

A border has been added to this post to separate this content from the others as you can see.

It is simple, you can customize the properties to make it suit your preference. i will mention how to do it below

It thus looks very nice and simple, you can add it too. you can increase the border line width (px) and the color as you can see here.

So how will i Create this Border in my post?

Step 1. Log in to your blogger to create a new post, after writing your post content, switch to Edit HTML mode, copy and paste the following codes as stated below

Paste the content you want to put inside the box here

Step 2. Switch back to Compose mode and you will see the changes right away. You should compose your content first before switching to edit html mode and adding the opening <div> and closing </div> tags above and below the content that you want to put inside the box.

How to customize the Border Style and Padding.

There are properties defined for the border and extra property for padding in the example that i have shown in this tutorials. You can choose how you want your border to look like. In this tutorials, my first border color is red and the border thickness in 1px. in my second border, i used blue as my border color while the border thickness is 3px. look at the codes again, you can increase the border thickness by changing 1px to 3px or above.

The higher the number, the thicker the border line. you should also change the border color by replacing red in the code with either blue or green or any color of your choice. You can define a hex code if you want a specific color. You can also use other values to adjust the size of your border. The most commonly used style is solid however, you can use other style like dotted, dashed, double, groove, ridge, inset and outset for example:

Here i used dotted as my style border with 3px solid red

And let me try the dashed with 4px solid green

Here is the dashed with 4px solid green. you can use groove, double, ridge, inset and outset etc

So in my opinion, padding is necessary to prevent your contents from touching the border line. lets try changing the padding from 10px to 0 and see what happens.

I believe you can see the result and difference clearly right?

Blogger.com also has the option to schedule post just like wordpress blogs. post scheduling helps you keep your blog updated with current and fresh content while you are busy doing other things offline. updating your blog frequently help a lot in reducing your alexa ranking and increasing your site traffic daily. if you are traveling to a place where internet services might to be available, you can schedule your post for the days you will be offline and it will automatically publish as specified. Today, i will share with you how i publish my post automatically using the post editor option on blogspot blog.

Log in to your blog, click on edit post, after writing the post you want to schedule, just take a look at your right hand side and you will see this option Post Settings as shown in the picture below,

Click on schedule and the drop down option will reveal something like this.

by default, automatic is selected but just select the second option Set date and time, and then choose the time and date you want the post to be published on the calendar, and it will be done successfully. click done and then publish, your post will be published automatically at the date and time you specify. You can compose as many post as possible and schedule them to publish automatically in future.

Note: post that are published already can not be re-schedule on blogger, if you re-schedule them, it won't work.

Looking for a place to sell your blog or website on the internet? selling a blog or a website for a meaningful amount of money is not easy as people think or said it is. if you want to sell your blog or website for a good amount of money first you need to take it to a point where it receives decent traffic and, most importantly, generate a stable revenue of at least $200 per month before you can get any buyer interested. That is what most buyers would want to see before they pay. Although Backlinks, unique content or Google PageRank may make your site appealing to potential buyers, but these factors alone won’t fetch the money. The traffic and revenue you generate is what matters to your potential buyers because that is the yard stick of measuring what amount your blog is worth.

Considering this scenario, we have two blogs, Blog A and Blog B and both of them are a year old with unique content respectively. Blog A has a PR4, some backlinks, with at least 10,000 visitors per month, but it makes no money at all. Blog B on the other hand has a PR2, also gets at least 10,000 visitors per month, but it makes at least $200 monthly from Google AdSense. Blog B has a small PageRank, but it makes a decent amount of money, so its selling price would be much higher than Blog A.

I would guess that Blog B could sell for as much as $4,000 if the traffic is mostly organic (i.e. from search engines), while Blog A would probably sell for $500 only.

If I was the owner of Blog A, I would probably not sell at all, because the money I would get would be inferior to the real value of the blog. Instead I would try to monetize the traffic first, and perhaps even grow the site, before listing it for sale.

So where can i sell my website or blog?

The best place where you can sell your website on the web is this marketplace called Flippa.com. If you remember well, that used to be the marketplace for websites inside Sitepoint, and now they spun it off as a separate website.

You’ll need to pay a fee of around $50 to list your site there but it is guaranteed that your listing will be exposed to many potential site buyers. An auction system is also available for those who are no sure how much their site is worth. Just leave it to the bidders.

Another option would be the “Buy & Sell Websites” section of the Digital Point forums. You won’t need to pay anything to list your site there, but the bidding system is pretty much manual (i.e., forum posts), and there is a smaller number of serious buyers shopping around there.

There are other marketplaces and forums on the web where you could list your site, but I doubt any of them gets nearly the exposure the two I mentioned do.

Have you ever heard about Flippa? as a blogger and a website owner you should. If you are looking for where to buy or sell a website or blog, Flippa is the right place to do business. Flippa is the largest online market place for websites. On flippa are list of websites for sale, you can buy or even sell the ones you have. It is common knowledge that most people who list their website for sale on flippa, end up selling it for peanuts eg a 100 dollars or less, or even not selling it at all. This is true because, most of the sellers at times failed to arrange their goods well before taking it to the market place (Flippa) hence end up selling them at a give away price. If you really want to increase your chances of selling your website and making enough profit, then you must consider these 10 tips below to help you.

1. Is Your Website already Making Money?

If you want to sell a website successfully on flippa marketplace, then the most important factor to consider is whether the website is making money. Even if your site is commanding a huge amount of traffic, once it is not making enough money, you would end up selling it less than its worth. You will sell it far below the real value if you list it for sale without monetizing that traffic you got. If your website is making only like $30 or less per month, then forget about selling it now. Try to improve your traffic, increase a stable revenues of at least $400 per month, before you list it for sale. If the revenue are coming from Google AdSense, you could sell the site four times as much as the revenue to get. Obviously, the more you can grow your revenue before selling, the better.

Also remember that you’ll need to show proof of what ever revenue you claim to be generating from the site you intend to sell, and that most buyers will calculate the revenues as the average of the past four or six months.

2. You Need Google Analytics Data on Your Website:

If you really want to sell your website on flippa, it would be wise to install or set up Google Analytics on it for at least six months before listing it for sale. You must have Google Analytics data for your website because most serious buyers will like to see your Google Analytics data before making an official offer. They will use this to verify your traffic levels, and to make sure the pattern is compatible with the revenues you claim to be generating on the site. They will also want to see data going back to at least six months in other to compare it.

3. Try to work On Your Trust Rating:

Each member selling their website on Flippa has a trust rating, and most buyers will like to check it before placing their bids. The higher your trust rating, the higher the chances of selling your website. Hence the need to improve your trust rating by connecting your Flippa account with LinkedIn, Facebook, and also verify your phone number ETC.

4. Setting Auction Length:

Set the auction length on flippa to 7 day. Seven days is the optimal length for an auction on Flippa that's my own opinion. With that length of time you are sure that most buyers will see your auction for example those who log during the week and those who log during weekends, yet you’ll create a sense of urgency on those who are interested.

Setting the auction length for 30 days will rather make your auctions become dead. Many interested buyers will refrain from bidding because there is plenty of time to go, others yet will see the auction once and then completely forget about it, for the same reason.

5. Setting a Reasonable Buy It Now (BIN) Price:

The “Buy It Now” price is there for a reason. It allows a buyer who is very interested in your website to avoid a bidding war and to buy the website paying what you think it is worth.

But the problem is that, most sellers don't have an idea of what their websites worth, and hence they set crazy Buy It Now prices. This is can put off a lot of potential buyers, because it means you have no idea about what you are doing on flippa. So what you will do is to ask your friends what they think your website is worth, then set a reasonable Buy It Now price for it.

6. Setting a Low Reserve / High Minimum Bid:

If you set a low reserve price for your website, your auction will display the following message bright green color: “Bidding open and reserve has been met!”. This is a big encouragement for potential buyers, and it stimulates them to bid.

And don’t get worried about your site selling for less than what you think it is worth. You can always set a high minimum bid. Apart from protecting you from low bids, this strategy will also filter the non-serious buyers out.

7. Do not Hype/Exaggerate Your Website Description:

Exaggerating your description will do more harm than good to you. The more you exaggerate your description, the more people will think you are desperate to sell and that your website is not a solid one. Avoid remarks like “Huge potential!”, “A lifetime opportunity!”, “My loss is your gain!” etc.

Another important thing is that, don’t hypothesize what the website could be earning. Some people list websites that are making $10 per month currently, and they go on saying: “This website has the potential to make $3,000 per month!”. If you knew this for sure you wouldn’t be selling the site for such a low price isn't it?

8. Give Answers to Every Comment:

People will still have to ask questions even if you write a clear description, and they’ll ask them through the comment section. It is important to answer every single comment you find on your thread, as this will encourage other comment makers to place a bid, and will also improve the overall credibility of your auction.

Secondly, do not delete a comment unless you have a very good reason to do so. Deleted comments are red flags on Flippa, because usually they come from sellers trying to hide something on their websites.

9. Have A Good Reason for Selling the website:

One of the possible first things people will ask you is why you are selling the website. If you have no good reason, they’ll rightly assume that the website is depreciating in value, and that is the reason why you want to get rid of it before it becomes worthless.

In fact it would be a good idea to include the reason for selling the website in the description of the auction itself.

10. Try and Invite Qualified Buyers:

If you want to get more bids on your auction, you can directly invite qualified buyers. First of all browse through the marketplace looking for websites that are similar to yours (either open or won auctions).

Once you find one, browse through the comments, and try to find users with a high trust rating that were asking questions about the auction. These are qualified buyers, and you can send them a message inviting them to view your own auction.

11. Always Keep Your Auction On The Homepage:

When creating your listing, the most important upgrade you can get is the “Listing Featured on the Front Page” one. It costs $29, but it will give your auction a lot of visibility, because most buyers browse the Flippa front page first.

You can purchase this upgrade a second time, too, once your auction slipped to the second page. This would be a good idea if after the first two or three days you have still not received some qualified bids.

Centralizing your blog header title and description on your blogger blog is the best thing to do if you are not yet using a header banner for your blog. this is the process of making your blogger title and description appear at the center of your blog header. this can be achieve by adding some piece of codes to your blog html and in this tutorials, i will teach you how to do it successfully.

How to Get it Done

This was how my former blog title appears in blogger default mode.

And after this tutorials, you will learn how to shift the title to the middle of your blog header as i did here,

before i decided to use a header banner for my blog as you can see above.

Ok to get started, first of all switch to the new blogger interface if you are still on the old interface. (i wonder why one should still be using the old blogger interface when the new one got a lot of interesting SEO features)

On your blogger dashboard, click on Template on the right side of your menu, then click on Customize button as shown with the arrow sign in the picture below

When the Template Designer opens, click on Advance on the left menu,

a new menu will appear, scroll down till you find Add CSS then click on it.

You will see a box at the right hand side so copy the codes below and paste it there

.Header h1, .Header .description{text-align:center;}

Click Apply to Blog at the top right corner you will see it.

Now preview your blog, you should now see your blog title and description centralize as seen in the picture below.

Important Note: If you are using a third party template that is not compatible with the blogger template designer, then use the following method.

Click on Template => Edit HTML => Proceed, find and paste the above code before or on top of ]]></b:skin>

Then save your template and view you blog to see the changes made.

A privacy policy is a page on a website that discloses all information about how the website collects data of its visitors. If you are using Google Adsense to monetize your website or blogger, you must add a privacy policy page on your blog if you want to stay within the publishers terms of service. To do this, you can either create a privacy page yourself or use one of the several online privacy policy generators to create the content of a policy page. Once it has been created, you can then edit it and add it to your blog as a post and then back date the post. After that, copy the link to the privacy policy post and add it to the main page of your blog.

As Google Adsense have added some few changes to the Terms and Conditions of their Adsense program, one of the requirements now is that all Adsense publishers should have a "Privacy Policy" on their websites. this is also a necessary condition for a new site waiting an approval from the Adsense Team.

Below is the exact wording that has been added to the Terms and Conditions for Adsense publishers ...

"You must have and abide by an appropriate privacy policy that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your user’s browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website. Your privacy policy should also include information about user options for cookie management."

A Step by Step guide to adding a privacy policy page to your blogger home page

Log in to your blogger dashboard and click on new post after selecting the blog you wish to add the privacy policy on. Type privacy policy as the post title, then write your policy content or you can copy the content from one of the online privacy policy generator. You can use this one through this link http://www.serprank.com/privacy-policy-generator/index.php to generate a privacy policy page for your blog by just entering your domain name and email address, choose Adsense and select whether you use cookies on your site or not.

By now you might have writing your post, click "Publish on" at the right side of your post settings, select the set date and time radio button, see screenshot below

Input 12:00AM as your time and back date the date to make it your first post on your blog.

Then click publish post, click the view post and copy the URL link for the privacy policy post, go back to your blogger dashboard and click on layout on the same blog you added the privacy policy to, click the add a gadget link on the sidebar or you can paste it as a page on the navigational menu bar or paste the privacy policy link below your blogger attribution, select link list, type in Privacy policy as the title of the link list gadget and add the privacy policy URL link then click save.
You have now add the link to your blogger homepage.

In one of my tutorial on this blog, I talked about how to create a privacy policy content page for your blog but today, I will be sharing with you how I added the privacy policy page URL link to the Blogger's attribution in the footer of my blog. As part of Google Adsense terms and conditions, you have to include an appropriate privacy policy page on your website or blog otherwise you will be ban from participating in the Adsense programme and if you are applying for a new Adsense account, without a privacy policy on the site you intend to run ads on, Google might not accept your application period. So you need to add a privacy policy on your site by all means.

So let’s get started.

Inside this post, I will only explain how to add the privacy policy link to your blogger attribution so I assume you have created a privacy policy page for your site already. But if you have not yet created one for your blog, read this post how to create and add a privacy policy page for your blog.

Now copy the URL of the privacy policy post and shorten the URL using this URL shortening service. i use www.goo.gl because it is reliable. avoid using any URL shortening service because the moment their services are down, the link will stop working and you will have no privacy policy for your blog take note.

Copy the shortened URL link into a notepad, Edits the code below by entering your shortened URL link as stated

Once you have edited it accordingly, Log in to your blogger dashboard, click layout and scroll down to Attribution widget, click edit as shown in this screenshot.

Paste your edited code inside the pop up box and click save. see the arrow direction. that is where to paste the code.

Now view your blog below the footer, you should see the privacy policy link beside your blogger attribution as shown below

If you click on the privacy policy link, your page will load successfully.

This Meta Tag description for individual post speaks for your post content on search engine as they describe your page according to what your viewers are searching for, whom will easily click on your link if the description matches their search query. Blogger Team has now come out to make blogging on blogger platform simple and easy by introducing new exciting seo features for blogspot.com platform. Making sure that all blogger post, and images are index accurately and appears in search engines correctly. In terms of development, blogger team is now trying all possible best to compete with its biggest competitor wordpress by introducing some SEO features on its platform. Most people believed that blogspot.com is not fully optimized for search engine, but now the blogger team has surprise every one with the introduction of the following features which includes:

1. Meta Description for main and individual posts,

2. Custom redirection for broken links,

3. 404 error pages,

4. Custom robots.txt for advance users,

5. custom robot header tags features for advance users, and

6. Nofollow attribute for post editor,

This has solve a lot of problems of wrong post description appearing in social networks like Facebook, twitter and Google+ which has now been resolved with the use of Meta Tags for posts and pages. In other to start using these SEO for blogger features, first you will have to enable the search preference on your blogger dashboard, to reveal the other seo features so that you can also activate or rather set them as well.

We will have to consider these features one after the other so that we can understand these technical SEO terms clearly. In your blogger dashboard, select the blog which you want to use that is if you have many, Go to Settings, click on Search Preference, you will see three sub-sections which are very very important. read info below and apply them meticulously.

Meta Tags:

Meta tags here refers to meta description and its functions on a blog is to tell readers what the blog is all about when it appears on search engine result page. Under this sub topic, we will explain both meta tags that is how to add meta tag for main blog and individual post. Before now, you can enter meta tag description for blogger blogs in your blogger template manually but now, by enabling this feature, you can enter meta description for each post using the blog post editor. first of all, enter the main meta description for your blog before you start using meta description for individual post. to do this,

1. Click the Edit link under Meta tag after clicking on settings, and choose enable search description radio button in the box,

you will have to define your blog in a simple words and it should not be more that 150 characters including spaces. write the same description that you have writing manually in your blog template where you add a meta tag description. then click save change. If you are using a custom template, then this description might not work for you, so you will have to insert some codes inside your template. copy this code,

Meta Description for Post
After writing a post, go to your post editor you will see post description box by the right hand side under Post Settings, Enclosure links, enter a brief description of your blog post and save it by clicking done. Also do not forget to do this for each post of your blog and include relevant keywords too. see screen shot below

Note: Write only one line description for each post with no more than 150 characters and at most 15 keywords or phrases. By doing this, your individual post will attract more visitors because each page will be tag with a clean description that defines it.

Errors and Re directions:

Under errors and re directions, you will find custom page not found and custom redirects options. And we will try to explain these features vividly here.

1. Custom page not found

If your check inside your Google webmaster tool, you will see several links which are broken or no longer in existence on your blog. Maybe because you have remove it from your blog content or they got deleted without your consent. If any person clicks on this link, it will land on a 404 page not found error page. This can create a negative impression on the person thinking that your blog no more exist. so you will have to create a custom 404 error page by writing a message to let the person know when they land on a missing page that, it was just a bad link and your blog is still active. 2. Custom Redirection for Broken links

This option simply redirect a deleted page to another existing page or post. with these feature, you can also redirect all broken links to your homepage and it can really increase your blog's homepage URL PageRank. Click the Edit link near custom redirects, see screen shot below

Click the box to simplify the options and you will get a From and To options, insert your deleted link inside the From box and the link of the new destination or of your homepage inside the To box. Click to save changes. see screen shot below

Crawlers and Indexing:

Note this third option has to be used with caution. using it incorrectly can result in your blog been ignore by search engines but don't you worry, you can still use it if you follow this method carefully.

Inside this section, you will find two options which are custom robots.txt and custom robot header tags. i will not be talking about the custom robot.txt option but only how we can manage the setting for custom robot header tags. custom robot header tags let us control how you want your individual page to be indexed and served to readers on search result page. You should use the following settings in other to keep things simple. Click on the Edit link close to the robot header tags, check the yes radio button to enable custom robot head tags, then check the boxes exactly as shown in the picture below.

Note that, this recommended settings will tell search engines to index your home page and all its content, post and pages but must not index archives and suggested description from Open Directory Project and Yahoo! Directory.

rel nofollow:

rel nofollow option also is another new and friendly SEO features added to blogger blog. Nofollow is a way of telling search engines not to follow or crawl a particular links on your blog page. in general, Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. you can read more about rel nofollow here.

Internal links on your blog should never be tagged as nofollow because links with nofollow tags will not be crawl. except when linking to a low quality site or a site you don't trust.

When you want to create a link in your post, you will see two options,

1. Open this link in new window

2. Add rel="nofollow" attribute

You can choose to open a link in a new tab if it is pointing to an external site or choose the nofollow option if you are linking to a low quality sites or sites that you don't trust.

How to Create and Customize your Blogger 404 error page using CSS3 or Standard text

Bloggers new SEO features has helped a lot, they are now better optimized for SEO than they use to be before. one of the blogger team's recent update on blogger platform was errors and re directions which fall within the premise of our topic today. we are going to discuss how to create and customize 404 error page for blogger blog with a simple standard text or using CSS3 to make your page look professional. I have just created a custom 404 page for my blog, you too can now easily create yours if you really don’t like the blogger’s default 404 page.

This feature is very cool, you can use a customize 404 page to tell your readers who just landed on a wrong page to either click a particular link to go back to the previous page, or report the broken link to the Admin that is you, or finally click to go back to your homepage, instead of people seeing the page not found each time they visit that broken link on your blogger blog.

Do you know why i love this feature? Blogger use to display an error message in a simple text as you can see below, and the worst part of it is that, this message does not display on your blog which can make a visitor leave in a jiffy. but the introduction of this new features, you can make them come back. Buy default, a blogger error page will display like this:

But you can now customize it to show any message you wish. You can also use CSS3 to redirect to other pages on your blog. This features brings a little more relief to your reader and also makes them spend some time on your blog instead of walking away due to some page not found generic unfriendly error messages.

You can now customize your blog’s 404 page not found with the following methods.

1. Log in to blogger dashboard,

4. On the Custom Page Not Found box, click Edit as the arrow directed below,

You can edit the bold characters in the code, to adjust the width and change background color. they represent the 404 box background color and width.

8. After every thing, preview to see if there was no error then save your template.

2. To get this code, click on the embed link located on the right side on the watch page below the youtube video, see screenshot below

3. Now select or click on blogger icon and the codes will be generated for you, and it will look like the code highlighted in blue as shown in this screenshot below

4. Copy the codes and paste somewhere on your note pad, adjust the width and height of the video to fit inside your blogger post, go to your post where you would like to paste the video, click on edit HTML mode and not Compose when writing a post, in the old blogger interface, it appears at the top right corner of your post editing page while in the new blogger interface check it at the top left corner.

5. Paste the html code of the video in your post and preview to see how it will appear before you publish your post. That's all

You can use your own custom domain name while on blogger platform. Do you have a blog hosted on blogger.com? If so then you probably have a .blogspot.com web address. perhaps you might have being thinking about having your own domain name but don't want to mess with changing your host or leaving all your traffic behind. No you will not, all you former blogspot.com web addresses will be redirected to your custom domain name and your content remain unaltered. This article will show you how to leave your blog exactly where it is even with a new web address.

Things you need

lets assume you already have a blog hosted on blogger, a registered domain name

1. Register a new domain name for your blog. There are many places where you can do that. Godaddy is a popular one, you can also buy with syskay.com or web4africa.net they are also a reliable domain name provider.

2. Log into your blogger account, select the blog you want to work with, and click on Settings you will see a picture like this note that we are referring to the new blogger interface. I would advice you to activate DNS settings from your registrar's website before completing this steps else your custom domain name will not be redirected to your blog even after completing this steps.

3. As you can see here, click on Add a custom domain link to proceed to the next page

4. In the next page, you will see a space provided for your registered new domain name. then enter your new domain name in the space provided and as directed by the red arrow in the picture below

You can also register a domain name through a Google partner with the cost of $10 only as at the time of publishing this post. you can also select a .com, .org .net or .biz depending on your registered domain. if you register a .com domain and decide to select a .org then it will not work for you. click the arrow pointing down on .com to unveil the others as shown below

5. Choose the one that applies to your new domain name, click on check availability and then save.

6. That's it all, now visitors who enter the old blogspot domain will be directed to the new custom domain and you can start publicizing your new domain.
