Honestly I wish they were getting rid of Kara rather than Paula.

Also, Ellen said in an interview that she would not be mean. Good for her! I'm sure she will be funny which goes great with what American Idol has become in the past few seasons. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how she does on the new season coming in January 2010.

Do you think Ellen will be a good American Idol judge?

Other Links to read more about Ellen becoming a part of AI:

DeGeneres says she'll be honest but kind. We'd expect no less!

Ellen DeGeneres Joining American Idol as 4th Judge.

Who's Going To Make It To The Top 2?

So, who's not making it to the season finale?

My thoughts on last night's show...

Danny - I've liked Danny from the beginning but last night's songs choices were nothing spectacular. I think he's in trouble. Do you agree?

Kris - Kris did 2 "current" songs. While his first song wasn't special by any means it was still good. His version of Kanye's Heartless was near perfect and totally redeemed him!

Adam - Personally, I don't think Adam has had a bad performance yet. Last night was no different. Adam is definitely top 2 material.

My Picks For The Finale:

Kris & Adam. And, I have to say that I really missed Anoop on last night's show.

When the show started and we found out that the idols were doing "Brat Pack" music I was really thinking it was going to be a disaster but after watching last night I think it went pretty well. Each of them had a solid performance. No one really blew me away but they were all really good. I will mention again here something I said on Twitter - Adam Lambert is too good for American Idol.

So who's my favorite?

This year's American Idol is unlike any other in history. There is so much talent that I cannot pick a favorite at this point. I've been saying it from the beginning - Adam, Danny, Kris & Matt deserve to be in the top 4. After seeing last night's performance, I'm excited and hopeful. Each of these 4 guys bring something unique and entertaining to the show.

My rankings for last night's performances:

1 Adam Lambert
2 Kris Allen
3 Matt Giraud
4 Danny Gokey
5 Allison Iraheta

What does the rest of America think? Will the guys rule the top 4 spots? Or will Matt will go home?

Movies Night Recap

I'm a huge fan of soundtrack music so I was very excited to learn the contestants were going to be singing music from the movies. Overall, tonight's performances were really good but I was particularly blown away by one unsuspecting contestant. I'll get to that right now...

Allison Iraheta - Loved this song but still not a very big fan of Allison.

Anoop Desai - Was really surprised by Anoop's performance. One of my faves of the night. Anoop is so likeable, right?

Adam Lambert - I absolutely adore Adam but I really wasn't feeling his performance tonight. Probably my least favorite performance of all.

Matt Giraud - Matt has always been a favorite of mine. His performance was good tonight. Loved him at the piano again.

Danny Gokey - Every time Danny sings I get emotional. It was a great solid performance.

Kris Allen - I was totally blown away by this performance and this song! Quite possibly one of the best performances of the season. It was current. It was awesome! Randy didn't like it. WTH? Think I'm "Falling Slowly" for Kris. ;) If Kris goes home something is seriously wrong.

Lil' Rounds - I like Lil' I really do but her last few performances, including this one, have been boring. I think it's time for Lil' to exit the stage.

Favorite of the night: Kris Allen Runner Ups: Anoop, Matt & Danny.

Who Should Go Home: Lil' Rounds but at this stage you never really know...anything can happen. Who do you think should go home?

Will The Judges Save Anyone? If Matt or Kris are in danger of going home I really think a save will be used this week. Your thoughts?

Songs From The Year They Were Born Recap

When I heard the idol hopefuls were going to be doing songs from the year they were born I was quite excited because almost all of them were born in the 80s and the 80s had some awesome music. Btw, I now feel really old because I'm older than all of the contestants. Boo hoo!

So, after watching the show, in my opinion (which counts for much of nothing really) most of the contestants just didn't choose the right 80s songs. What do you think?

Our Favorites Of The Night:

1. Adam Lambert - Adam's version of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears was awesome! I had a feeling he'd be singing a Tears for Fears song and it was hands down the best performance of the night. I think Adam is becoming my favorite.

2. Matt Giraud- Matt sang "Part Time Lover" by Stevie Wonder and it was really good! He really made it his own. I'm crossing my fingers that America loved him too and he's not in the bottom 3. He's definitely top 3 material!

3. Anoop- Wow, Anoop sang "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper beautifully last night. I think this is the first time I have ever put Anoop ahead of Danny.

Least Favorites Of The Night:

Scott & Lil

Who We Think Should Go Home:

Scott or Lil

Dial Idol gives the top spot to Adam Lambert. The rest are "unpredictable" with Kris being at the main bottom.

Megan Joy Goes Home

We all knew it was just a matter of time before Megan was sent home. Were you happy or sad to see her go? Personally, I thought she was quite entertaining and would have rather seen Scott or Allison go home first but America voted and Megan is out.

Next week the idols will be singing songs from their birth year which means all 80s and a little bit of 90s music. Here are the top songs of 1985. What will they choose? Looks like Madonna, Bryan Adams, Wham, and Tears for Fears may be a part of next's weeks songs. Will Danny & Adam keep the top spots?

Do you have an ultimate favorite in the competition yet? This is the first year where I am torn between the awesomeness that is Danny, the entertainment that is Adam, and the cuteness that is Matt. ;)

iTunes Top 9 Recap

Here's our quick sorry-we-are-in-a-hurry recap of the iTunes week performances. For me, the iTunes night was a mixed bag. Some were good, some were bad, and some were just boring.

My favorite performances tonight in order:

1. Kris Allen - definitely a great job even though it doesn't compare to Justin Nozuka's version of Aint No Sunshine which you can see here. Overall, this performance really helped him.
2. Matt Giraud - Of course I liked him.. obviously I like him every week and you can't go wrong with You Found Me by The Fray.
3. Danny Gokey - I'm not a huge fan of country music but I like Rascall Flatts. Danny's performance was solid.

My least favorite performances of the night in order:

1. Lil Rounds - She of course will get the sympathy vote after showing those cute kids of hers.
2. Scott MacIntyre - I hate saying this but he's just boring.
3. Allison Iraheta - She's a good singer but provides absolutely no entertainment value.

Who's Going Home: Scott, Megan, or Allison. Here are the Dial Idol predictions for the week. I'm really hoping Matt G. stays another week.

Idol Results Show: Michael Sarver Goes Home

It wasn't a huge surprise that Michael Sarver was sent home last night. He had the weakest vocals and personality next to Scott. I personally would have preferred that Scott go home first but America decided and it is what it is.

Now on to Matt and his trip in the bottom 3. WOW.

When I saw that Matt Giraud was in the bottom 3 my heart nearly stopped. I was stunned. Was anyone else really surprised that he was in the bottom 3 or am I in some dream world over here? Lets keep Matt in the competition PLEASE! I'd like to see Matt, Adam, Danny, & Anoop in the top 4.

Next week the idols are singing disco. Who's going to suck? Will Adam become even more awesome?

American Idol Motown Week Recap

You may have noticed that we were MIA last week. Type A flu had us down but were back. ;)

Anyway, on to last night...

There were some really good performances last night and some awful train-wreck performances last night. But I'm sure you know that already.

Matt Giraud - He sang Let's Get It On. I absolutely LOVED it. I thought it was sexy and current as the judges always say.

Kris Allen - He sang How Sweet It Is and played his guitar. I like the guy. I'm just not blown away by him.

Scott MacIntyre - He sang You Can't Hurry Love. This is a great song but Scott didn't do it justice. It was the most boring performance of the night. We all like you Scott but it's time to go.

Megan Joy - She sang For Once In My Life. I agree with the judges on this one. It was a horrible trainwreck. It didn't even sound like the song at all. As much as I'd like to see her stick around for entertainment value I think she is in danger of going home this week.

Anoop Desai - He sang Ooh Baby Baby. There's just something about Anoop that makes you really like him. I don't know what it is...it's just there. This performance wasn't as good as his performance last week. However I think he did enough to stick around.

Michael Sarver - He sang Aint Too Proud To Beg. I'll be honest and say this song was a disaster. It just didn't work for him and it was verging on being manic. Seacrest mentioned Michael being sick but they didn't disclose what was wrong. Was it the flu? Something else? Either way, I really think Michael is in danger of going home.

Lil' Rounds - She sang Heatwave. In the beginning I thought I was going to be a big fan of Lil. But she is getting more boring every week. Yes, she can sing but she's not that entertaining.

Adam Lambert - He sang Tracks of My Tears. And, wow did he sing it! Every week Adam surprises us and it's always good. This was my favorite performance of the night. Go Adam!

Danny Gokey - He sang Get Ready. I love his energy. He's fun and he has a great voice. However, he was outshined by Adam and Matt last night.

Allison Iraheta - She sang Papa Was A Rolling Stone. She can sing but I'm just not that into her as a performer. I couldn't see myself buying her music. She's in the last spot so she will get more votes this week.

My 3 favorites of the night in order:

1. Adam Lambert
2. Matt Giraud
3. Danny Gokey

Who I Think Should Go Home:

Scott, Michael or Megan.

Who do you think will go home?

The Top 13 Recap: Adam & Matt Rocks!

Lil Rounds - Her outfit was horrendous but her voice was on point. She did a good job but I wasn't blown away.

Scott MacIntyre - His performance was verging on boring but overall it was ok. He's not going anywhere though.

Danny Gokey - Honestly, I adore him and I love his distinct voice. However, I wished he would have picked a different song.I can't wait to hear what he sings next week.

Michael Sarver - This is one guy I try to like because he's a family man. He did Ok last night but again I wasn't blown away by his performance.

Jasmine Murray - Going in she was one of my least favorite contestants but she actually did a pretty good job of this song. I still think she may be on her way out.

Kris Allen - He's cute that's for sure and he's better with his guitar but I think he is another one who is at risk of going home.

Allison Iraheta - She's definitely a great singer at the age of 16 but overall her performance was just Ok for me.

Anoop Desai - Despite his horrible song choice I still like him. He's such a likeable person that I just want to see him again next week.

Jorge Nunez - Here's another one that I was not a fan of coming in and I'm still not a fan based on last night's very boring performance.

Megan Corkrey - I absolutely adore her unique voice and I liked her last night but overall it was just OK.

Adam Lambert - Adam was definitely entertaining as usual. I wouldn't say I was excited as the judges were about him because I HATE that song by Michael Jackson. However, he definitely did great and he's hot!

Matt Giraud - Matt was by far my favorite of the night. I loved the song. I loved that he played the piano. Like the judges said, he does have that Justin Timberlake/Robin Thicke vibe. I'd definitely listen to his version of Human Nature on my iPod. I can't wait to see what he sings next!

Alexis Grace - I've liked her all along but last night's performance was a bit manic-y.

Who We Think Should Go Home:

Jorge Nunez
Jasmine Murray
Scott MacIntyre

Who Will go home? It's hard to tell because of "the twist" coming up tonight. What do you think? Overall, I think this is going to be really tough for some and easy for a few of them.

I'd love to hear Danny Gokey or Matt Giraud sing one of my favorites You Are Not Alone or a classic like I Just Can't Stop Loving You. Of course I cannot wait to hear AND see what Adam Lambert will sing. I'm sure it will be quite entertaining no matter what.

What do you think of the finalists singing songs by Michael Jackson? What do you want to hear? Some of our favorites recaps from last night's semi-finals are VFTW, Idolbloglive & Idol Chatter

The 3 Best Contestants of The Night:

Danny Gokey. The highlight of the night!! He's definitely going to the next round.

Alexis Grace. I didn't really like the song she chose but she has awesome vocals. I loved Simon's comment about her.

Tatiana Del Torro. I know, a HUGE surprise but the contestants last night were HORRIBLE so I really didn't have much to choose from. In all honesty, though, she actually sang most of her song well.

The 3 Worst Contestants of The Night:

Casey Carlson. This girl is absolutely gorgeous but she CANNOT sing.

Brent Keith Smith. I did not like the song. In general, I don't like him as a singer.

Stevie Wright. I think she's going home. And, that's all I'm saying because she's 16 and snarky is not something I like being when it comes to the younger crowd.

The other six were not memorable at all for me other than Anoop & Michael and that's just because they were both some of my favorites before last night's episode. I'm hoping Anoop gets another chance. And even with Michael Sarver's very off performance of Gavin Degraw's "I Don't Want To Be" I'd like to see more of him.

Early Faves From The Top 36

It's early in the game but we wanted to go ahead and share some of our early favorites ( 10 if them) before the real singing begins. I'm so glad that part is over and we can get to the top 36 tonight. There was only 1 surprise when it came down to the people that went home. Louisville auditioner Laneshe Young was sent home when it clearly should have been Tatiana Del Torro. I'm still a bit confused on why they gave Tatiana another chance. She can't possibly be in the top 36, right?

Anyway, let's get down to who we liked last night and who we didn't.

Who Stood Out:

Danny Gokey. He sang Dance and I got chills. Definitely top 36 material.

Matt Girard. He sang Georgia On My Mind. Another awesome performance. Definitely top 36 material.

Adam Lambert. Still a bit theatrical. But I like him.

Kendall Beard. I'm really liking her voice.

Nick Mitchell or (Norman/Normund) This guy needs to get his real act together because he can really sing.

Who Should Have Went Home That Didn't:

Tatiana Del Torro. Um, Tatiana Del Torro. Did you see the others faces when she was switched to their room?

Can't wait till tonight to see who makes the top 36? Well here's a list but I'm not sure it's totally accurate. I guess we will see in a few hours.

Live Blogging Gone Wrong

I encountered a problem when live blogging Wednesday night's American Idol episode.
