The article links the spread of fast food chains in countries throughout the world with the spread of obesity. In the article a study was done showing the growth of fast food chains in Asia was proportional to the increase of obesity in Asia over the same time frame when compared to previous years where the native diet was the norm and the general population did not encounter weight problems. I would agree to the results of the article but we must also remember that as individuals we have to make the choice to stay fit.

Who determines what we put in our bodies? Who prevents us from maintaining a healthy diet? Who determines if we get enough sleep, exercise? Who determines how healthy and fit we are? Who is responsible for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being? Better yet, who is responsible for our overall health? Did anyone answer these questions like I did? I am responsible. I am resposible for making the choice to stay fit. To eat right. To excercise. To get enough sleep. To maintain my physical, spiritual, mental and emotional well being. To maintain my overall health.

I have personally made the choice to stay fit and I encourage everyone to make the same choice. Envision a healthy, fit "you" and spring into action and make it a reality starting today. I have included a variety of information in these articles that can get you on the road to a healthy future and all it requires is a little action, dedication and determination, plus the majority of it is free. If you make the choice to stay fit, and I hope you do, share your story here. This will encourage others to make the choice to stay fit while helping to fight a problem that has aided in rising healthcare costs.

Sounds unbelievable, but it is very true. After all, Weight Loss'experts' have probably always advised you to starve in order to lose weight. The 4 Essential Foods To Help You With Weight Loss do not contain any special metabolism-boosting chemicals that aid in quick weight loss.

The fact is your body needs to burn a lot of calories in order to digest these 'special' foods. Be aware, the more calories you burn, the faster you lose weight! So eating these 4 essential foods will cause your body to burn more calories in the process of digestion resulting in more weight loss.

As we age, our metabolic rate slows down considerably! This is why most people gain weight during their middle age. During middle age, we encounter many life changes and most of us place more emphasis on children, family, work and less on our physical well being. As a result, the physical activities of the past become practically extinct, our metabolic rate becomes low and hence we are not able to burn as much fat as we did during our youth. Eating these 'special' foods is, however, a good way of boosting our metabolic rate! In this article you will discover some of these foods:

1. Green Tea: If you are a tea lover and desire to lose weight, replace your favorite with green tea! Ordinary tea is not bad, but green tea is even better! It contains fat burning chemicals which boost your metabolism and will help you with weight loss. Now you understand why many of the weight loss supplements available in the marketplace have green tea as a common ingredient!

2. Peanut butter: Peanut butter is a great replacement for ordinary butter. Unlike the ordinary butter, which is rich in fat, peanut butter is rich in protein and fiber, both of which will help you with weight loss. While protein will help you burn fat by building lean muscle mass, fiber will aid in suppressing your appetite for an extended period of time causing you to eat less. Remember, as you build muscles you burn more fat.

Peanut butter is available from any local supermarke but it is better for you to buy the natural peanut butter and avoid the popular commercial brands. Or prepare it at home if you so desire! Peanut butter makes for a great breakfast when combined with wholegrain wheat and milk!

3. Almond: There are two types of fat available: the good (omega 3 or unsaturated fats) and the bad (saturated fats). The bad fats should be avoided because they make you fat or aid in the production of a fat producing hormone called leptin. The good unsaturated fats, on the other hand, supply your body with essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids which aid in reducing the hormone producing leptins. Almond is one such food. It is rich in fatty acids and protein. Again, almond is one of those 4 essential foods that causes your body to burn calories by building muscles and burn fat by boosting your metabolic rate!

4. Beans: How successfully you are able to suppress your hunger will determine how fast you are able to lose weight. Beans make for a great appetite supplement and naturally suppresses your appetite while causing your body to naturally burn more calories in the process of digestion. Beans are rich in fiber and help to keep your stomach full for a longer period of time. This causes your metabolic rate to increase and results in weight loss.

If you were to incorporate all of these foods into your daily diet you would lose weight naturally at an amazing rate. Imagine losing weight just by getting your body to naturally burn calories in the process of digestion with simply 4 Essential Foods. Try it and share your story here. Also, incorporate some type of physical activity into your lifestyle and really benefit from these 4 Essential Foods.

Well, your wish is about to come true. In this article we present super foods that will help you lose weight and lose pretty quickly. Sounds too good to be true? Well, digest this article to understand what I mean!

Foremost, lean chicken meat. This is one of the best weight loss foods you can ever have! Why? It contains a large amount of protein and very little fat, and as you know, protein aids in building lean muscles. Consequently, lean muscles help you burn fat by accelerating your metabolic rate!

If chicken proves to be too expensive for your pocket, try turkey breast! In any case, make sure you eat only lean meats and stay away from red meat!

Fish is also very good for quick weight loss. Fishes such as salmon and tuna contain Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids fall in the category of unsaturated fats or "good" fats. We gain weight due to a hormone called leptin which stores fat inside your body. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the quantity of leptin; which in turn results in weight loss!

Olive oil is almost free from the saturated fats or "bad fats" and contains a considerable amount of unsaturated fats. These unsaturated fats will not only suppress your appetite but also fight cholesterol. In short, olive oil will keep your cholesterol levels down. As you can see olive oil will also aid in a degree of rapid weight loss.

Berries are also good for weight loss. There are several berries that aid in weight loss such as blackberries, blueberries, strawberries. All of them will help you as they are natural and contain healthy levels of vitamins. Strawberry is probably the best among the berries. It tastes good and helps in suppressing your appetite. Once you get rid of hunger pangs, you can focus more on your weight loss goals and less on eating!

It is apparent that losing weight doesn't mean that you have to starve. Many people tend to starve or follow crash diets but nothing beats eating and losing weight. Eating the right foods will not only result in weight loss but better health. In addition the foods mentioned above are also rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Remember, these are not the only weight loss super foods that are available to you. Foods such as nuts, oatmeal, eggs and almonds can also aid in weight loss. Make these foods a part of your diet and see how quickly you are able to lose weight!

When I started my diet and weight loss journey I was easily distracted and sidetracked, not properly focused. I had to adjust my thinking in a positive way which in turn resulted in a positive winning attitude. Yes, a positive way of thinking. Stick with me here. Understand that a positive way of thinking turns into a positive attitude, resulting in positive actions. Now continued positive actions turn into positive results which yield a positive lifestyle. Now focus on the attitudes that are behind our actions. Think about this. All diets are based on a plan. Our thinking dictates the actions we take in adhering to all or any diet plan we choose to follow. We know that most diet plans do work. However, the average person will make changes to the diet plan instead of developing and sustaining a positive thought pattern. Simply put, just develop and maintain a winning attitude and watch your health and lifestyle change for the better.

Losing weight is a goal for many people. Every dieter is looking for the quick and easy way to lose weight. Many people do not need to lose weight but still get stressed over a couple of pounds. Others need to lose weight for better health purposes and may have one hundred pounds or more to shed.

There are a variety of diets out there including low carbohydrate diets and most of them will result in weight loss if they are followed correctly. This does not mean always doing what the diet says every moment of every day. What is more important is how you deal with over eating or feasting on foods that are not in your low carb diet plan. If you can write off over eating and feasting on the wrong foods and return to the plan without giving yourself a hard time, you are likely to succeed. Everyone has those days. The important thing is to let them go and accept them as another step on the road to permanent weight loss.

It is very important to utilize a diet that you can easily follow. Low carb diets suit many people because the rules are quite simple. The diet consists of avoiding or limiting foods that are high in carbohydrates. Included are bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, grains and sugar. Once you understand what low carb foods are, it is a simple matter to choose dishes that contain them while limiting dishes that are high in carbohydrates.

Criticism of low carb dieting is based on the fact that low carb dieters will get most of their daily calories from meat, dairy and other high fat products. This can lead to high cholesterol and other problems resulting from high levels of saturated fats. Medical advice is advised before starting a low carb diet. Sometimes weight loss is good in the early stages of this type of diet but people deviate from the diet, due to the restrictions, in the longer term resulting in less weight loss.

A big problem that many people have with low carb dieting is the elimination of bread and pasta. Minimum intake of toast, spaghetti or pizza! Many of the foods that are easily prepared are based around carbohydrates - burgers in their buns, fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are high in carbs too. Alcohol is generally restricted in any diet, because it is high in calories and very low in nutritional value. Low carb diets place particular emphasis on this. Still many foods can be enjoyed in a low carb diet. In a low carb diet anyone that likes meat will relish the opportunity to consume beef, chicken and other animal products. The popularity of low carb diets is clear from the length of time that they stay on the bestseller lists. It is just a matter of the dieters preference. Low carb dieting actually works successfully for many dieters.

My goal was to drop my weight by 30 lbs. My doctor at the Veterans Hospital also challenged me as she believed this would improve all of my vital signs and my overall health. I decided to accept both challenges and my weight fluctuated initially from 189lbs. to 175lbs. then shot back up to 185lbs. I was thinking seriouly about both challenges but my actions were not in accord with my thinking. I changed my eating habits lost some weight then reverted back to my old ways and picked up weight. The weight had an impact on me as I began to see the need to buy smaller sized clothing. My energy level increased with weight loss. My appearance even changed... smoother skin, less bloating in my face and abdomen. I realize now that the change had to take place in my mind. So presently, I have undertaken a more serious approach about my health and am following a strict and disiplined style of dieting and am seeing results. I have done the follow:

1) Increase water intake of at least 8 glasses per day.

2) Increase fruit intake to 2 chopped cups per day.

3) Decrease food seasoning (less salt and black pepper).

4) Increase vegetable intake (1 partially steamed individual serving per day).

5) Increase cardio (walking at least 2hrs. per week at high speed)
I have even thrown in a little basketball after work with co-workers

At present my weight stands at 171.3lbs and I am feeling and looking great. My Doctor has seen a great improvement in organ functions and vital signs and my overall health has improved along with my energy levels. So get serious about your health and join in the weight loss challenge to healthy living.

There are some foods that cause our body to retain water and increase gas in our intestinal tract. In the process of dieting we should avoid them or reduce their intake. Some of these foods are as follows:

Fried foods which are fatty and remain in your digestive tract longer causing weight gain and bloating.

Carbonated drinks which presents excess sugars and carbon bubbles into the stomach and intestinal tract resulting in weight gain and bloating.

Excess carbohydrates in the form of glycogen which are stored in the body with water at 1 part glycogen to 3 parts of water. If you increase metabolism while decreasing your carbs your body burns the excess energy (carbs) reducing the excess fluids that are stored.

And finally, spicy foods or foods seasoned with seasonings such as barbecue sauce, tomatoe sauce, chili powder, black pepper, ketchup, hot sauce, mustard, nutmeg or garlic and may cause stomach and intestinal irritation due to acid being released from the stomach.

These should be replaced with healthy foods and drinks that help to flush out excess fluids while reducing water retention and relieving gas that causes bloating.
