Setup a Sub Domain on a Blogger Custom Domain Blog

Most of Bloggers now a days use Custom Domains with Blogger to increase their site's quality, page rank and Visibility in Search Engines. From this Tutorial I will show you how to setup a sub domain on your custom domain for a blog. If you are already a Custom Domain owner and figuring to setup a sub domain your custom domain, this will definitely help you.

If you have domain named ; drdcash.com and want to setup a sub domain as 'services.drdcash.com' you will have to follow few steps and I'll guide you through them in this Tutorial.

Sub Domain on a Custom Domain

There are two types of establishing sub domains in Domains.

Domain Hosted

Self Hosted (Included Web Hosting)

If you have a Self Hosted site all you have to do is create a 'CName Record' with your Web host. Simple DNS Editor in cPanel will help you in that case. otherwise you will have to contact your web host.

If you don't have a self hosted site and only owns a Domain you will have to create a CName Record in your Domain Manager. I will show you how to establish a CName Record in various Domain Hosters.

Sub Domain With Blogger Bought Domains

Though setting up your domain with blogger was easy in domains bought from blogger, it will be bit tough to change the settings in blogger bought Domains.Once you bought your domain you were given a Google Apps account.

Go To Google Apps : https://www.google.com/a/

Log on to Google Apps Dash Board > Domain Settings > Domain Names

Advanced DNS Settings > Sign in to DNS Console (Enom with your User Name & Password)

Add a New Row to add your CName Record

Add your desired sub Domain as host - eg : services

ghs.google.com as Address and CNAME as Record Type

1. Creating CNAME on Godaddy

Godaddy has two methods when adding your CName Record to Domain. We will take the easy path. Recently Godaddy published a tool which automatically create an Cname Record for you in your Domain Edit Zone. Go to this Go Daddy tool

All you have to do is type your correct sub domain in the text field an hit on the Confirm Button.

2. Creating CNAME on Namecheap

From the Left Side choose All Host Records

If your sub domain is 'blog.drdcash.com' add the records as Below,

3. Creating CNAME on Name.com

Click on DNS Management from the right side bar

If your sub domain is 'blog.drdcash.com' add the records as Below, and press submit

Transformation of blogspot.com to Custom Sub Domain

Establishing your sub domain in your Custom Domain is done. Now you have to do is connect it to your Blogger Blog. Navigate to your Dash Board > Desired Blog > Settings > Basic > Publishing. There in you blog address go to add custom domain and click on 'Already own a domain? Switch to advanced settings' Now provide your created sub domain URL. eg : services.drdcash.com or blog.drdcash.com etc.

Ways to Fix Posts Returning 404 Error in Blogger

Sometimes Bloggers may found little difficulties with Blogger as Google webmasters give you several links which are either broken or no more exits. Some of those links come with Custom Templates when you neglect to customize them and some happens because of small matters of Blogger. If you deleted a post that prevailed previously in your site and after your act, if someone tries to access that relevant post there he would find an error page 404.

However, if you are still unable to recover your deleted posts then, there is only one way to remove the 404 Error and that is to redirect it your Homepage. Sometime, your posts are indexed in search engine but due to short comings it starts giving 404 errors. Not to keep your visitors away from 404 errors, it is essential to redirect them safely to your home page.The main event is you must not give any chance to web crawlers to crawl those broken links and that is why we should create a returning link to Home Page from 404 Pages.

Go to Your Blogger Dash Board > Settings > Search Preference >

Then Scrawl down to Errors and redirections > Custom Redirects > Edit > New Redirect.

In the Text box, "From : " add your broken Link and in "To:" add Your desired destination or simply the Homepage Url.

When you hit the Save button You are done and You can open the URL and instead of showing not found error it would take you to your homepage.

Place Google Adsense Ads in your Blogger Header

As to my Opinion Google Adsense is the Best Ad network I've Ever Seen. And that is why it is Hard to get the Approval of the Google Adsense. But to day I'm not going to tell you How can we get the Google Adsense Approval and What they Want from Us. It was in a previous Post in My site.

From this post I'll show you how to add an Adsense Ad in ur Blogger Header. The Main thing we Do is actually adding a Widget and through it we are going to add the Adsense Ads.

But how we can add something inside blogger header - be it a Adsense unit, a search bar, social media buttons or a widget? By simply adding a section in the header. First off, to give space for the extra gadget to fit in, our blogger header should be resized.

Changing the Size of the Blogger Header

Step 1: Go to Blogger Dashboard > Design > Edit HTML and backup your template

Step 2: Check the "Expand widget templates" box

Step 3: Find (CTRL + F) this piece of code:

Step 4: Now Paste the Below code after the Above tag

Change the pixels in blue with the image's height and width of your blogger header and change float: left; to float: right; if you want to change the position of your logo.

Step 1: Go to Dashboard > Design > Edit HTML and backup your template.

Step 2: Find for the below code which you have implemented in previous step:

Change the width that is marked in red color. Increase or decrease the pixels according to your needs and positioning new header section.

Step 6. Save Template.

Now all you have to do is to go to Design > Page Elements tab

And add a new gadget to the newly created extra header section in Blogger.
You may find that the extra gadget section is created just under your Blogger header as shown in the image below.

Don't worry about its position, the widget now should appear side by side.

Adding too many Images/Gadgets and Graphics

When we Started blogging we eventually get to the moment of Customizing and Designing your Blogger, and we search whole Internet and Choose some cool and eye-Catching widgets to add to our Blog to Beautify It. The Widgets and Designs increase your Blogs attractiveness and it will success to attract your visitors in 20% But nevertheless did you think about adding this kind of whole jQuery, Javascript and CSS to your blog will be affect your Blog Speed.

Yes they'll certainly affect it. You Should remember to limit the Widgets and added Scripts in your Blogger because otherwise it will take more than 30 seconds to load your blog and 50% traffic might be lost to you and if you compare the advantage and disadvantage of too many Image, Graphics and Widgets in your Blog it's a 30% disadvantage to you, Though if you add Images and Widgets to your blog and Blog posts Remember everything has a Limit abd Donot exceed it.

This isn't a place to Write Essays

Dragging and extending your Posts and Articles are not good as you think, it is a truth that it explains the whole thing clearly but it will bored your Viewers and they will abounded the Blog. Though you knew and aware of the topic well you must summarize the post and present it when you presenting it. People love to read short and valuable articles and if you fail to cross that obstacle your Readers would run away from you and there won't be any time to snatch their hope again.

<OL> and <UL> tags are for that

When you are writing an article which is a bit long running one you should use the numbers and bullets to categorize the facts you are posting. If the Article must be explained thoroughly you can't help it by over summarizing it but you can Categorize the post content and divide the content, dividing paragraphs also work on that occasion. So using <ol> and <ul> tags you can create numbers and bullets and use them to group the Specified Facts. If else it will be a long paragraph that Neither Reader nor you would like to look at.

Formatting the Text

There is a title and sub titles in every post we write and we use various Fonts, Font titles and Colours and etc. Changing Font type, Size, Colour and Bold, Italic effects by text to text will directly effect your Readers. You should know to use one type and Size for sub titles and another type and size for plain text or using various knid of Types, Styles and Sizes will decrease your web-traffic. Because more than the beauty of the using various Types and Sizes there is a main disadvantage. It will made difficult to your viewers to read and Concentrate on a Text. So to my opinion it's not good to use too many Formatting on Text.

Adding Popups and Signup Boxes

Adding Popups will surely popup and blast your website in Bad way. I have seen Popup like boxes and Signup boxes in many Sites and I bet it will surely cut their traffic in bits or lots. I'm not only a Writer and but also a Reader and popping up these kind of Boxes really annoy people and they get rid of your site. Ad networks have also these kind of popups and I suppose they work on time or by the number of page views but my recommendation is Popups are not good for you until you get the guarantee of that your Site is a Popular one.

Being too Greedy will Wreck your Ship

I was trying to imply the idea of being greedy will make you no better but hurt. Blog is one of the best platforms to display your ads and earn tons of Money but as above it also has a limit. You can show ads in your main page and Under the posts and on your side bar and Beside the Header. But inside of a post area you ought to be careful when dealing with ads. You shouldn't display more than 3-4 Ads in a Post area that includes your side bar, header and footer also. These steps are precautions to stop your traffic flows to another. Some people adds a music piece to their posts and when your open the post to read it will automatically play as a Background Music. From it they try to add a Uniqueness to their site but they donot know that it sometimes badly annoys readers because they won't be able to concentrate on the Article and your hard effort that given to the Article will be 'puffh!' because of the annoying music pieces.

Not only music pieces but also auto playing videos will also affect it. It's a good thing if you have made a video as a tutorial for something and post it with the text but if auto plays when Viewer came to the page he won't be able to read the text in focus because he will feel uncomfortable and won't try to read it. The whole process will damage your Campaign and the message of your post won't pass from one to one because of the decreasing of Page Readers.

In your Post there can be links to other web-sites that own or somebody but will affect better on you. And also shorting your prevailing links and turning them into money highlighting your words in post and turning them into money also a nice way to earn money from your Site.

The actual truth is it is that not humans who are search engines but the web spiders or bots who are created by humans. with this you'll able to know that how humans and search engines view the web page contents. Search engines are also text-driven. They are always searching for rich king quality posts so when you are blogging it doesn't matter if you get ideas from a somebody's blog but donot try to copy and paste the whole thing or named it as a your creation!

Search Engines performs basically six acts to deliver the best and quality web results.

Crawling

Before a search engine can tell you where a file or document is, it must be found. To find information on the hundreds of millions of Web pages that exist, a search engine employs special software robots, called spiders, to build lists of the words found on Web sites. When a spider is building its lists, the process is called Web crawling.

But in the case of the Google this crawling process is carried out by the Google bot. These kind of Spider, Crawler or Google-bot are responsible for indexing everything that they find throughout their way while following links from one page to another. After the completion of crawling process the next step is of indexing the content in search engine database.

Meta Tags

Meta tags allow the owner of a page to specify key words and concepts under which the page will be indexed. This can be helpful, especially in cases in which the words on the page might have double or triple meanings -- the meta tags can guide the search engine in choosing which of the several possible meanings for these words is correct. For each post you will be able to add a meta description as a few words but the article will be fully depended on it in search results, and web-spiders will also notice the article if is with relevant article. In the site there is Meta tags you can edit in template, Web-spiders mainly go through that tags to decide what site this is and whether to add it or not and if they noticed about the site they report the site with their results and your site will rise to top in search results.

However, a danger in over-reliance on meta tags, because a careless or unscrupulous page owner might add meta tags that fit very popular topics but have nothing to do with the actual contents of the page. To protect against this, spiders will correlate meta tags with page content, rejecting the meta tags that don't match the words on the page.

Processing

Whenever a search is made in a search engines with specific keywords, searches go to pull up information from the giant database. Since it is likely that millions of pages contains the search keywords that are stored in the giant database of search engine. Therefore the search engines start to calculate the relevancy of each and every page in its giant database to indexed it on their web search results page.

Calculating Relevancy

Due to having millions of pages with similar search keywords, the search engines start to calculate the relevancy of each pages stored in their database. For this process they uses their special program called algorithms. The algorithms used by search engines varies from each other. For instance, the algorithm used by Google is different from Yahoo! and Bing. Each of these algorithms has different relative mass for keyword Factor, meta-tags or links. This is the reason why search engines give different web search results for the same search keywords. It is known fact that major search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask etc. keep changing their algorithms periodically.

Hence if you want to index your web pages at the top of web search results then you also need to adapt your site pages to the latest update or changes.This is the best reason to devote and invest your permanent efforts to SEO, if you want your site at the top of index page in search engines.

Retrieving Results

After calculating the relevancy of site indexed in search engines, retrieving results is nothing more than simply displaying them in the browser. These results are sorted from the most relevant to the least relevant sites content indexed in search engines.

Principle of Operating Search Results by Different Search Engines

Basically the principle of operating search results by search engines are similar. But minor differences between their algorithms leads to major changes for retrieving results by calculating the relevancy of the sites. Perhaps for different search engines different factors are important to retrieve best and accuracy result. Some SEO expert joked that the algorithm used by Bing is completely opposite to the algorithm used by Google. Now you can understand and imagine that the algorithm used by Google is advanced and is completely different to the others search engine algorithms. About more than 80% of the traffic from search engine is obtained from Google and rest is from search engines and directories like Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc.

This doesn't mean you should optimize your site for Google only because rest 20% of the traffic also matters a lot in your traffic source. For Yahoo! and Bing on-page keyword factors matters a lot as a primary importance, while for the Google internal and external links count are very much critical to rank well. Therefore you need to be patience and hard working towards optimizing your site to rank well in Search Engines and Search Directories.
