Flogging Molly with be appearing with the Dropkick Murphys at the Festival Pier, Philadelphia, PA on Thursday, Sep 13, 2007. I'm not sure this has ever happened before!

If I wasn't going to be out of the country then, I'd seriously consider the trip!

Album Due out in February

The band has finished its summer concerts, and on the way to Ireland to record a new album (YAY!) that is due out in February.

Matt Hensley played with the band at their Pennsylvania show, and it sounds like he'll be recording the new album with them. No news on if he's back in it for the touring, or only for the recording.

Matt's Back

Long time accordion player and gentleman, Matt Hensley has re-joined the band after leaving in January of this year for personal reasons. Matt says of his return, "The truth is that my life makes sense again, and I feel like I'm where I need to be in this world." He also ads, "I missed the feeling of 'knowing where you're at.' Being the accordion player in this band is my zone; where I belong. I got emails all the time from people who care deeply about the band. I missed being able to affect people in a positive way."

New Album Tidbits

We've been working over in Ireland now on and off for the last month or so and we've been sitting in the garage writing songs and some the songs are a lot different from what Flogging Molly would be accustomed with. Lyrically, maybe not, but there's a lot of ground being covered in this next album. To me, it's really bringing a lot of traditional music into the twenty-first century and it has all the traditional elements. We're taking chances that I don't think anybody else has ever done.

Flogging Molly Plays Benefit on December 14th

The soundtrack to the movie P.S. I Love You is going to be released on December 4th, and will include Flogging Molly's If I Ever Leave This World Alive. The movie opens on December 21st.

AND, Flogging Molly and the Bouncing Souls will be playing at an event to benefit Wheels for Humanity on December 14th at the Key Club in Hollywood, CA.

Flogging Molly earned its highest charting album and its best sales week ever as "Float" started at No. 4 with 48,000. Its last album, "Whiskey on a Sunday," debuted and peaked at No. 67 in 2006 with 14,000. The group's previous high-water mark was set when "Within a Mile of Home" landed at No. 20 in 2004 with 38,000.
