A restored Cunucu house is the setting for a surprise dinner with an intimate number of friends. With just one seating a night, you will have great evening, mingling and meeting new people while co-owners Paul and Fred serve as your private chef and butler. At 2 Fool and a Bull you will be treated to an unforgettable culinary 5-course surprise dinner. A perfect wine-flight by the glass, is available at an extra charge for the wine lovers in the house! Or you might want to browse the Fools’ Wine Closet and find your own bottle to go with your special dining experience.

The Meet & Greet starts at 7… that’s when you will be served a flute of chilled champagne, and enjoy an opportunity to mingle with other patrons, also meet the 2 Fools.

The doors will close at 7.30, when the evening with your new friends begins.

The surprise menu and the wine flight will be explained by Paul as you face the French Firewall, i.e. The Bull, which grills the best meat on Aruba!

During the evening at 2 Fools and a Bull you may walk around, interact with guests, or peek into the kitchen, your 2 Bon Vivant hosts leave it all up to you!

As the Fools only serve one seating per night, space is limited! Therefore reservations are a must! You may reserve via the web site, and even share your eating preferences with the Fools. But beware, we’re serving a surprise menu, and you’ve got to be a bit of a Foodie to enjoy it … As the Chef prepares the menu in accordance to the number of guests in attendance, we do not like No Shows!! A No Show means we have to throw food away! So please RECONFIRM your dinner with us on the day of your reservation, before 3 pm!! You may call us before 3pm for any open seats we might still have . . . or make a reservation with the concierge at your hotel. Please check the website: www.2foolsandabull.com, or call us at +297-5867177 for any openings or reservations.

My review of this restaurant:

There are many words one could use to describe this restaurant. I am just going to say, “WOW”.

There were four of us who dined together. Three had dived that day and the other had walked two miles. Everyone was starving and what a memorable delectable meal it was. Our party ate “soup to nuts” and the service was very nicely spaced out so that we did not feel rushed.

Father's Day weekend is a great time to get away to Aruba vacation rental.
"When you come to Aruba, you don't have to have your entire trip mapped out," said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes. "When you choose to rent a condo, vacation home or beach villa in Aruba you can spend quality time together while deep-sea fishing or having a picnic on the beach."

Activities for dad and the family:

1. Indulge busy dads with a relaxing trip to an Aruba spa. If spas aren't his style, a massage therapist can come to him.

2. Dad can catch game fish like sailfish, wahoo, white and blue marlin or the most prized of all: black and yellow fin tuna. A full or half-day boat tour with a captain and crew of experts would be a memorable experience.

3. Snorkeling along the shoreline of Aruba's beaches is the ideal low-key option for a dad who likes to relax by the ocean.

4. Feasting on a variety of meals and dishes caught right off the coast of Aruba is a great way to thank dad for his hard work. Some of the most innovative cuisines, impeccable beers and wines are available at some of the freshest and finest restaurants in Aruba.

5. If dad loves to golf, Aruba's golf courses are sure to be a main attraction for him. Tierra del Sol is the only 18-hole championship golf course on the island and was designed by the renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II. It offers a full-length practice range, putting greens, chipping areas and a beautiful clubhouse with a restaurant and swimming pool.
Celebrate the most important man in the world by visiting the island of Aruba on Father's Day and have an experience like no other.

Jo-Anne Kock and

D’Angelo Baptiste form part of the team of volunteers on Wednesday mornings.

Their tasks include keeping the grounds clean and keeping the water troughs filled under the guidance of Desiree Eldering, the leader of the Sanctuary. The two volunteers are having a lot of fun during their working hours: their laughter can be heard from afar and the donkeys love them. Their presence at the sanctuary is making everyone, and most of all the two Centro Man na Obra clients, very happy.

And now we need more volunteers and ask you whether joining us might be a fun way to fill your spare time. You will meet lots of new people and visitors of the Sanctuary. The foundation that runs the Sanctuary is looking for volunteers for different purposes: people who want to take care of the donkeys, people who are good with their hands for the technical maintenance, people who want to give information, to show people around or do PR work. Actually, the Donkey Sanctuary could use everyone. Get acquainted with the other side of Aruba and spend your spare time in a fun and useful way. Be aware, though, that once you get to work, it is quite addictive. Most volunteers stay involved with the foundation for a long time and enjoy every moment that they are active.

So please consider spending your spare time in a super fun way and make yourself useful for the Aruban community. Call Desiree Eldering for information or an appointment with her at 593 2933. Just do it!

Aruba.com May 15th, 2012- One of Aruba’s truly simple pleasures requires nothing more than hanging out at Divi Mega Resort, right by beach bar to listen to the Divi Jazz Quartet, on any given Sunday afternoon.

The quartet plays music which could easily be described as feet in Aruba, head in the sky! While resort patrons sip on their long, cool umbrella drinks, the music springing from the small stage is clearly anchored in the Caribbean region, popular and easily recognizable classic compositions imported from traditional American Jazz into Brazilian, Caribbean, Latin and local groove. The tunes sound deliciously laid back and ear-pleasingly melodic, in perfect sync with the resort’s famous beach, which serves as a breathtaking musical backdrop.

Band leader Ivan Jansen is one of Aruba’s premier musicians, having graduates the Berklee College of Music, in Boston, he is a world-class guitarist and a talented performer. Jansen put together his quartet in 2003, making Divi Resorts the band’s permanent home. They play at the resort during Happy Hour, and at the clubhouse restaurants at Divi Links – catch Ivan Jansen’s solo guitar performance on Thursdays at Windows on Aruba. Then the band plays at Mulligan’s Golf Café Bar & Restaurant on Fridays & Saturdays, also at Windows on Aruba during Sunday Brunch.

Jansen is the acoustic and electric Jazz guitar player, Richard Holmond the drummer, Roy Croes the bass player and Franklin Granadillo blows the trumpet. All members of the band are well-respected Aruban musicians — Granadillo who is also a Berklee College of Music graduate, is a much in demand local arranger.

Jansen’s personal contributions to local culture and music are numerous, besides setting a high standard of performance in a continuous pursuit of perfection. As a music educator he nurtures greatness in progress, teaching and encouraging young musicians from the island to spread their wings and become prodigies. He is also tirelessly recording and is currently working on his 5th CD, an ambitious co-production with members of his quartet and a number of top contemporary names, artists he met while playing international Jazz Festivals. The CD titled NEW HORIZONS will featured 10 original tracks, having been recorded in the US and in Aruba.

Jansen’s previous work included Con Alma I & II, two magnificent classical solo guitar CDs, Versatility, a Caribbean jazz complilation of original composition and Jazz at Divi, an acoustic production consisting of timeless jazz standards, boleros, Brazilian music, even pop jazz, all tastefully arranged by Jansen and performed in the original and refreshing style of the Ivan Jansen Jazz Quartet.

The proud Jansen is also the father of brilliant Serghio Jansen, a Berklee College of Music graduate, currently working as a full time Jazz guitarist in NY.

Visit Divi Mega Resort any given Sunday, and experience one of Aruba’s truly simple pleasures!

Pictured here the Divi Jazz Quartet with Serghio, in for a guest appearance, also with exciting NY saxophonist Alex Han, on the island for vacation.

This month the Aruban Donkey Sanctuary celebrates its fifteenth anniversary. In 1997 a few volunteers started catching and sheltering roaming donkeys. At first there were just 10 donkeys; by now there are 120 animals, who find a home at the sanctuary. Roaming donkeys are a hazard for the busy roads with heavy traffic and vice versa. The donkeys belong to the Aruban landscape, however, and they have become a tourist attraction: more than 25,000 visitors cross the gates of the sanctuary every year. There are still some 70 roaming donkeys left - still causing accidents.

Bringamosa

Unfortunately the sanctuary cannot do much for these donkeys; there is just no more space to take care of them. Since 2006 the foundation has been waiting for the conveyance of a terrain in Bringamosa and its surrounding area, so that a large area would become available for the donkeys. It is an ideal location, close to Arikok National Park, and thus a welcome addition for touristic purposes. However, before the papers are signed, the sanctuary cannot invest in permanent fences and buildings. We have begun building on a small scale, but that is risky: should the conveyance be canceled, then our investment is gone. Therefore just the bare necessities have been constructed, such as water troughs, a few fences and overhangs to provide shade for the donkeys that have been stationed at Bringamosa.

Summing up: for six years the volunteers have been waiting for DIP (Dienst Infrastructuur en Planning) to come up with a `statement of conveyance’ so that they would be able to continue to invest in this new sanctuary where more donkeys can be sheltered.

The move to Bringamosa would be a win-win situation, as fewer roaming donkeys would cause accidents and the visitors to the island can enjoy a more complete and more attractive nature reserve. At this time tour operators like ABC-Tours and De Palm Tours offer tours to their clients in which the sanctuary is a true tourist attraction. Let us be careful with this, as the island does not have an abundance of attractions to offer besides our beaches.

Coordinator
To be able to manage the sanctuary with its 45 volunteers, a full-time professional is a necessity. That is why Cede Aruba subsidized an annual salary for a coordinator in 2011, hoping that the foundation would have time enough to come to a financial agreement with the government. However, one year has gone by and no agreement has been reached. Starting in February 2011 we have tried in vain to make appointments with the minister in charge and with our Prime Minister. Our financial situation is now getting dire: the foundation is paying our coordinator from donation money and our means are getting depleted. This would result in closing the shelter off to visitors, which would lead to closing the shelter altogether, as a large part of our income comes from visitors. Then where would all 120 donkeys be? Hopefully it will never come to that.

Time to act
It is understandable that in this situation we cannot celebrate our anniversary in a big way. Because of the fact that the government has other priorities, one of the island’s most unique attractions is on the verge of a disaster. The sanctuary is a place where donkeys are sheltered and where young and old can come to enjoy themselves; it is also a place that urgently needs help from the government. We can be proud of our sanctuary – we can be proud because we take good care of our animals and we can be proud because we are a much-appreciated tourist attraction. Aruba’s national heritage should be protected. That is why the foundation that supervises the Aruban Donkey Sanctuary urges that a meeting with the ministers of our government will take place at an early date.

PLEASE help to support the Donkey Sanctuary by donating here.
MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012)- Harley-Davidson honors women riders across the globe this May by inviting them to join Women Riders Month events. During the month of May, hundreds of women riders from Latin America to the Caribbean will join thousands of other women in countries around the world to showcase their passion for the sport of motorcycling during the 6th Annual International Female Ride Day. What began in 2007 with a simple concept of "connecting women with motorcycling" has grown into a worldwide event, founded by MOTORESS in Toronto, Canada, inviting women riders around the world to "just ride," an idea that is passionately supported by industry leader Harley-Davidson.

In celebration of this initiative, Aruba will be hosting their 3rd Annual Ladies of Harley Ride from May 4th to May 6th, consisting of a Garage Party at the dealership on May 4th, 2012 from 7 pm to 9 pm, night ride on May 5th to Moomba Beach with live music by Dushi Band and daytime ride May 6th with DJ entertainment, food, drinks and prizes to announce the new Ladies of Harley Queen of 2012. Last year's event was very successful, inspiring many women to join the motorcycle world. This year, it promises to be even more successful as Karen Davidson, creative director for Harley-Davidson General Merchandise and Great-Granddaughter of Co-Founder William Davidson, will be in attendance.

"Women don't want to just go along for the ride," said Claudia Garber, Director of Women's Marketing Outreach at Harley-Davidson Motor Company. "Women want to feel empowered. They want their voices to be heard."

Motocicleta. Motorad. Moto. While the word motorcycle may be spelled or pronounced differently by female riders around the globe, the emotions and empowerment they share when they twist the throttle of their own motorcycle is universal. More and more women from all walks of life are getting in the saddle of their own motorcycles and grabbing life by the handlebars, and Harley-Davidson is their brand of choice. Harley-Davidson is the number one market share leader among women, selling more new motorcycles to women than any other motorcycle manufacturer.

Women Riders Month is an opportunity to celebrate the empowerment of women riders around the world and inspire more women to find their voice on a Harley-Davidson of their own. Throughout May, Harley-Davidson Motor Company and its worldwide network of dealers will host events to welcome women into the sport of motorcycling.
