1.) The Iceman – Wim Hof

Wim Hof is a 48-year-old Dutch man. He holds the world ice endurance record by standing in ice for 1 hour and 44 minutes. He completed a marathon in Finland when the temperature was -20°C. He has climbed to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2 days wearing nothing but shorts. How can he withstand such frigid temperatures?

Hof uses a technique called Tummo. Through Tummo, he is able to control his body temperature with his mind. It’s a technique used by monks in Tibet.

2.) Zamora the Torture King – Tim Cridland

Tim Cridland is a performer who regularly puts his body through painful things, such as putting needles in his throat or walking on a bed of broken glass or extremely hot coals. Cridland can does this because he can tolerate much higher levels of physical pain, and was born without the ability to feel it. He can stick needles in his throat without a wince.

3.) The Man Who Doesn’t Sleep – Thai Ngoc

Thai Ngoc is a Vietnamese man who reportedly hasn’t slept in over 33 years. Various doctors have given him a clean bill of health, and he suffers no ill effects from his lack of sleep. He is in fact so healthy that he can carry two 50 kg (110 pounds) bags of fertilizer down a 4 km (2.48 miles) road everyday. If you ever have complained about lack of sleep, then talk to this guy first.

4.) Rubberboy – Daniel Browning Smith

Daniel Browning Smith, also known as Rubberboy, is one of the world’s most flexible people. He has performed at NBA halftime shows, baseball games, Oprah, and The Tonight Show. He can squeeze his body into an unstrung tennis racket and a small box. In order for him to to do this, he dislocates his arms. 5.) The Autistic Savant – Daniel Tammet

Daniel Tammet is an autistic savant gifted with many skills. He experiences synesthesia, where each number up to 10,000 has a particular shape, color, and “feel.” Tammet has described his vision of pi as particularly beautiful, the number 6 as having no distinct image, the number 25 as energetic, and the number 289 as ugly. Tammet can also learn new languages in a short period of time. In fact, he was challenged to learn Icelandic in one week, and was seen one week later conversing in Icelandic on Icelandic television. He speaks many languages including English, French, Spanish, Finnish, German, Romanian, Icelandic, Estonian, Lithuanian, Welsh, and Esperanto. Tammet is also creating his own language called “Mänti.”

1.) Landline Phones

With cell phones, the internet, and video conferencing, who really needs a landline? Sure, maybe office buildings and other commercial properties will have them, but the landline will all but disappear from residential homes.

2.) Dial-up Internet

Relatively cheap prices and the proliferation of high speed internet will put the final nail in the dial-up coffin. Kids 15 years from now will ask what was dial-up and how did we surf the internet with it.

3.) The Mail

Email has slowly killed post offices everywhere. The biggest customer of the USPS, Netflix, has the option to watch movies directly on your computer. Banking and bill paying are going paperless. While the mail service, envelopes, will slowly disappear, package delivery is here to stay.

4.) Newspapers

Thousands of newspapers across the world are shutting down and/or going exclusively online. The advertising dollars are not able to keep funding the paper operations. Advertisers are putting their ads for free on sites like craigslist. Goodbye newspapers.

5.) Compact discs

Does anyone buy music CDs anymore? With iTunes and illegal downloading becoming the best ways to get music, CDs will slowly disappear from stores.

6.) Printed books

With the iPad, Kindle and other e-readers becoming ubiquitous, printed books will all be digital. While books might be the longest lasting thing on this list, they will eventually succumb to technology.

7.) Privacy

Privacy will be a thing of the past in 10 years (if it isn’t already). Social networks like Facebook and Twitter have brought what you ate for breakfast into the public spotlight. And with the speed in which information is disseminated, nothing will stay private for long.

8.) Getting lost

It will be pretty difficult to get lost in 10 years. Almost every cell phone will come with a GPS system, so it won’t matter if you’re in the middle of New York City or in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you will find a way to get back home.

1.) Kensington Runestone

The Kensington Runestone is a giant sandstone that was found near Kensington, Minnesota in 1898. The stone is covered in runes, which is a type of Germanic alphabet used by Scandinavians. The discovery of the stone suggests that Scandinavian explorers came to North America and explored the American Midwest almost a century before Columbus discovered the Americas. The authenticity of the Kensington Runestone has been debated since its discovery.

2.) Shroud of Turin

The Shroud of Turin is a piece of cloth that bears an image of a man with injuries consistent in the manner of crucifixion. Photo negatives have shown a face remarkably similar to that of Jesus Christ. Those who believe in the authenticity of the Shroud have suggested that this cloth is the burial shroud of Jesus Christ himself. Opponents of the Shroud’s authenticity have pointed to a radiocarbon dating that occurred in 1988. The results of that test showed the fibers in the linen were from the Middle Ages. The Shroud continues to be one of the most debated objects in history.

3.) Baghdad Battery

The Baghdad Battery is actually comprised of three things: A terracotta jar, an iron rod, and a copper cylinder. It is thought that this artifact was used for electroplating gold onto silver. If the electroplating theory is correct, it would be the first device in history that could generate electricity. It would predate the the invention of the electrochemical cell by over 1,000 years.

4.) Dendera Light

The Dendera Light is a series of stone reliefs in the Hathor Temple in Egypt. The traditional view held by most historians is that the relief depicts a lotus flower and a pillar, with a serpent inside. However, proponents of the “Ancient Astronaut” theory suggest that the reliefs depict a light bulb, not a lotus flower and snake. The theory also implies that the light bulb was given to the early Egyptians by aliens. If the Dendera Light is indeed a light bulb or some early form of it, it would precede even the Baghdad Battery as the first manipulation of electricity.

1.) Jack the Ripper

Jack the Ripper was the name given to a mysterious serial killer who murdered at least five women prostitutes in the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. The murders became highly publicized because the bodies were mutilated and missing some internal organs. Police, investigators and scholars have attempted to figure out the identity of the Ripper for decades and have named dozens of suspects, including Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll . Since the killer’s identity has never been solved, several theories came forward. One theory even blamed the murders as part of a Masonic plot. Even modern police techniques have been unable to figure out the killer’s identity and it remains one of the most well-known unsolved mysteries in history.

2.) WOW! Signal

On August 15, 1977, Dr. Jerry Ehman was working on a Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project at Ohio State when he detected a signal at The Big Ear radio telescope. The signal has been thought to be of extraterrestrial origin and Big Ear detected the signal for exactly 72 seconds. All subsequent attempts to find the signal have been unsuccessful, even when using more powerful and more sensitive equipment. Further research suggests the the signal was very unlikely to come from anything related to the Earth.

3.) Black Dahlia

Black Dahlia was the nickname given to Elizabeth Short, a 22-year-old woman who was abducted and murdered in Los Angeles in 1947. After about a week, her body was found on January 15. The body was horribly mutilated and in pieces. Thousands of people were questioned by police and 60 people confessed to be the alleged murderer. However, nothing conclusive was ever found and one of the largest investigations in LA’s history remains unsolved and no killer has ever been found.

4.) Oak Island Money Pit

Off the coast of Nova Scotia, there is an island. The island contains a pit discovered by three boys in 1795. They discovered that around every 10 feet, there was a layer of logs placed across the hole. Later, a company further discovered that the logs continued on their pattern up until 90 feet deep. Supposedly at 90 feet, they discovered a stone inscription that was written in symbols. It was decoded as saying “forty feet below, two million pounds lie buried.” Digging any deeper causes the shaft to flood. There have been many theories as to who built the pit and what is buried there. Some say that the Holy Grail was buried there by Templar Knights, others say that the treasure holds secret documents that could change history, and still others say that Marie Antoinette’s jewels are buried there.
