The MTA has released the long awaited TAP program which was restricted to the general public is now for everyone.

TAP is a convenient and faster way for everyone to board the MTA buses (plus soon to come to other L.A. county bus carriers) and trains and pay for your fair. There will not be the hassle of having correct change to pay, or see your bus/train leave you behind as you purchase a ticket. With the TAP card just tap on the circle (see pic) and it will add your fare to a linked bank card. Plus a TAP card is much better that a bus pass. Because the TAP card can be refilled online, wu whoo and at any of the rail stations, Orange Line stations. No more having to remember to go to the store to buy a pass. The TAP card can be purchased online or at MTA consumer centers and some designated stores.

The MTA has reported that the Federal Government granted a 2 billion (yes, with a B) grant to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Authority with 3 more billion to come in the following years. The news came to the MTA this morning after if had been considered to drop the project due to lack of funding. However, the MTA thinking they may never again will receive funds from the feds, they will try to conserve some of those funds by hiring day labores from Home Depot so the left over money may be used to build the Pink Line down Santa Monica Blvd through West Hollywood. And if MTA really gets stingy with the funds received, they may have some left over for the Gold Line to Montclair.

In related news: The MTA is going to build the Expo Line via existing corridor through Cheviot Hills and not down Venice and Sepulveda Blvd. They are tired of people that have nothing better to do that to appose projects that are for the good to all people. Also stated, that if the Cheviot Hills HOA continues to appose the Expo Line through Cheviot Hills, the MTAwill start emanate domaning some of their homes (punks).

According to a former CIA director we are resposible for the schooling of little Pakistani boys who turn into suicide bombers.

Today Bob Redell from nbc11.com reports that California may put the brakes on eco-friendly cars. The state mandated that all vehielcles sold in California be zero-emission by 2003. However, the state now is looking to lower those standards to tow thrids. However, this is getting a lot of environmentalists, health advocates and probably some of the people from “Who killed the electric car” pist. And one of those pist is this former CIA director that says our gas gusling cars is what funds terrorism.

A group of students got together and created a cool web site to show their support for the Gold Line to Montclair. Upset over the fact that the MTA did not include this project in the long transportation plan, the group of students decided to collect signatures (through their web site) and show the MTA the demand for the Gold Line. They feel that the Gold Line is highly needed to releave the traffic along the 210 fwy and for the many commuters for the Colleges and Universities along the route.

We may be lacking rain water, but according to NBC there is no shortage of scripts raining on their property (and yet their shows still suck). In today's L.A. times, NBC states that they don't want a bike path through their property because it will give an opportunity for writers to lob unsolicited scripts over the wall.

This is one bird that flies while it stays on the ground!

Picture By phicorleone at Flikr Sad to say, but as the rest of the world improves their high speed rail systems we here in the U.S. are still stuck in traffic or delayed at the airports. WIRED has a post of how the AVE (high speed) has a new train from Barcelona to Madrid (315 miles) that can travel in 2 hours 38 minutes cutting four hours from the time it took the old train( it was probably and Amtrak).

California will make an attempt for a High Speed train in this year's November ballot, notwithstanding Arnold taking it off as in the past. So if the measure makes it on the ballot this November, please don't forget to vote.

Crenshaw light-rail route picked

The Daily Breeze reported today that the MTA has picked the route for the proposed Crenshaw light-rail line. The line would connect to the Green Line and Expo Line. However, Diaz said that if may not run north to the Wilshire Blvd due to the Crenshaw being to narrow. Therefore, "...the entirety of the Crenshaw Line will be south of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, and its only link to downtown Los Angeles will be via the Expo Line, which is now under construction."
