Do your kids love to finger paint but you hate cleaning up the mess? Here is a perfect summer solution… Most finger paints are water soluble – make sure you buy the ones that are (double check that package) and then take it to the yard. Let the kids do their finger painting outside wearing their swimsuits while you fill their kiddie pool with water. Once the painting is done just have them go splash in the pool for a bit – and spray the lawn off with the hose. It’s quick and easy clean up that everyone will have fun doing – and you will have those great paintings to show for it!

Ok, not really… But she is going to a mock jail in an effort to raise money for a very good cause and you can help to bail her out!

The cry for help from Mom is as follows…

SET ME FREE! …and help the March of Dimes arrest the rising rate of premature birth. 1 in 8 babies is born to soon, and often too small. These tiniest babies struggle to survive, and too often many don’t.

I will soon be incarcerated in the March of Dimes Jail & Bail where I will be served only the finest bread and water (okay, maybe lunch!) You can help ensure my good behavior through your contribution. My hard earned bail will aid and abet the March of Dimes in funding lifesaving programs of research, education and community services. Programs that will save babies’ lives.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The March of Dimes is a wonderful organization – their work is so important to mothers and children alike. You can help bail Mom out and give to a great cause by clicking right here. Every penny counts – Help the March of Dimes today!

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Happy Canada Day! I wanted to give a shout out to all of our Canadian Readers out there. Hope you guys are having a fabulous day today.

I thought it would be fun to post a listing of the hottest topics here on BlogMommas.com for the months of May and June 2009. I will list them in order from the latest to the oldest. These are the topics that you guys commented on the most.

The Hottest posts in June

Tuesday’s Tip Jar – With kids wanting to take a dip to cool off this summer it is important to remember some water safety…

Summer’s Here – The sun is shining, the weather is warming up, and the kiddie pools are calling – it’s summer…

Tuesday’s Tip Jar – I’ve kinda been on a tip kick lately so in case you missed it you can click here to learn how to properly fold a fitted sheet or you can click here to see how you can make your own laundry detergent and save A LOT of money…

The Hottest posts in May

Tuesday’s Tip Jar – Recently a friend of mine was greatly annoyed at the discovery that her son had drawn on his bed sheets with an ink pen. She washed the sheets but the stain did not come out…

What’s wrong with this world? – I am so disappointed in what is becoming of this country. It started long before the presidential election, but with the electing of a man who is no more of a Christian than I am a giraffe it was certainly escalated beyond measure…

Watch The Entire Video – After you watch the entire video, leave a comment about what you just witnessed…

Becoming a Citizen – A good friend of mine, Molly, came to the United States about eleven years ago. She came here legally, has continued living here legally, has always had a taxpayer ID and paid her taxes. She loves the United States…

Tuesday’s Tip Jar – Simple version of Cake Balls…

Swine Flu Update – Isn’t that the cutest photograph you ever did see? Every time I see it I shrug, am a little disgusted by it, but then I just laugh it off. I had to share it with you…

Happy May Day BlogMommas – My calendar says that it’s May 1st May Day today. So I say Happy May Day to everybody that reads BlogMommas…

I think it’s safe to say that you guys are really digging the Tuesday Tip Jar. Is that your favorite category?

This month I have chosen a blog unlike any others I have previously chosen. For the July Blog of the Month I have chosen a celebrity news blog. You all may have heard of it as one of our very favorite contributors is the author, but if you haven’t checked it out yet then I totally recommend you do. For the July Blog of the Month I have chosen Jooce Gossip.

I don’t frequent many celebrity news blogs because most are trashy gossip, but Jooce is different. There are personal thoughts and opinions along with Christian values interjected much of the time. It is a clean celebrity site where you can actually enjoy reading about the latest happenings in Tinseltown.

We love ya Jooce!

If you are trying to decide if that summer blockbuster is really ok for your kids to go see but you just aren’t quite sure yet there are a couple of places you can check out that may help you:

The first is ParentPreviews. This site takes a movie and gives it a report card with grades from A to D. It rates the movies on things such as violence and sexual content and also gives you the MPAA rating and a very thorough review.

The second is a site called Kids in Mind. This site rates the movies with a number system (1-10) on sex/nudity, violence, and profanity. It also gives you a play by play on exactly what your kids will see in the movie – detailing scenes so there will be no hidden surprises.

Both sites are great tools for parents to use, but as always the best tool is your own common sense. When in doubt, check it out – in other words, go see the movie yourself first before unleashing your kids on the theater.

Now it’s your turn – drop a tip in the jar!
