The repair was on sale, so I don't think a discount works... but thanks for the offer. It was in a battery case, which does a pretty amazing job. But I don't think that anything would have helped here. Given the fracture mark in the glass, I'm fairly certain that the phone struck face-down on a piece of raised gravel in the pavement. Short of having a covering over the front of the iPhone, not much can protect against that. And yeah, I have really abused iPhones over the years to no effect. It takes a pretty serious hit to do damage like this. Gia has been dropping hers for years (she's on her 3rd one now), and she's never had a problem.
