As for the paxil.. just don’t go losing it in rural Japan and have to go cold turkey for a few days before finding an English speaking doctor in Tokyo and spending $500 in 2009 money to replace it and then walk past the Eye in Shinkjuku station while your brain is misfiring .. ask us how we know! 🙂

I find this to be so interesting because I have GAD (and ASD). Back in my 20s my doctor(s) ran the gamut from two tricyclics (which turned me into a zombie) to eight different SSRI’s before I realised that the SSRI’s actually *elevated* my anxiety. Of course, back then they were still stoically bundling anxiety and depression as one illness!

This is fascinating to me. I can’t imagine what that must be like, to not be able to “see” things in your mind. But now that you’ve described it, I need to ask my sister if this is what she has. I know that she cannot visualize anything she reads, hence she doesn’t read books. It’s just words on a page; she can’t make it come alive in her mind. Now I’m curious…
