Pubic hair is curly because for some reason our sex hormones turn the hair follicles in that area into an oval shape, which in turn makes the hair oval in shape, causing it to bend Straight hair grows from round follicles and is less prone to curliness.

Motive behind the ambush-slay of Arayat town Councilor Francisco Balagtas Jr.

CAMP OLIVAS – Police investigators are encountering difficulties in determining the motive behind the Jan. 5 ambush-slay of Arayat town Councilor Francisco Balagtas Jr., as no witnesses have come forward to help solve the crime.

Investigators are still looking for possible witnesses who could identify the suspects in the ambush-slay of the town councilor.

Senior Supt. Petronio Retirado, director of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office, said his men are still gathering information on the killing of Balagtas but with the absence of witnesses, “it will take us hard time to identify the killers.”

“As of press time, nobody wants to stand witness“, said Retirado adding there were information that several bystanders saw the suspects during the ambush slay.

Balagtas was about to board his Ford Everest (NDO-261) parked in front of Honda Motor Sport in Barangay Plazang-Luma, Arayat town when riders-in-tandem gunmen sporting crash helmets, appeared from behind and shot him at point blank range.

Police said the victim had just emerged from the session of the municipal council held at the Patio de Sta. Lucia Resto Bar and was walking to his SUV when the suspects drove past near him and opened fire.

Meanwhile, the flag at the municipal hall of Arayat and in other government offices in the town were placed at half mast as sympathy to the fallen local official.

Mayor Luisito Espino also directed the local police to conduct an in-depth investigation on the cold-blood murder of the councilor.

Homeless man with golden radio voice

This clip speaks for itself -- literally. The Columbus Dispatch discovered a homeless man along Ohio's I-71 claiming to have "the God-given gift of voice." His name is Ted Williams, and he's an ex-radio announcer according to the note he scrawled on a piece of cardboard that he uses to solicit change from drivers. And wow, does Williams ever deliver for a dollar. Williams tells the Dispatch about his struggles, but thankfully "alcohol and drugs and a few other things" haven't diminished Williams' velvety vocal cords, and he says he's two years clean now.

"I have a god given gift of voice. I'm an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times. Please! Any help will be greatfully appreciated. Thank you and God bless. Happy holidays," says Williams' roadside sign for help.

Like Williams, the radio industry has fallen on hard times in the past decade, but given the viral power of this video, we expect more than a few morning show and late-night appearances, and perhaps even a job, will be in Williams' near future. In fact, Reddit reports that Ted has already been tracked down by Columbus area radio show The Morning Zoo and will appear on tomorrow morning's show, so tune in!

CityVille is Facebook record-breaker: biggest ever

Hang up your straw hat: city planning is the new farming. Or it is on Facebook, anyway.

Launched just a couple of months ago, Facebook smash CityVille is not just the biggest game on the social networking platform, it's the biggest Facebook game ever.

CityVille averaged over 84 million monthly users this past weekend, which means it's bigger than previous record-holder and Zynga stablemate FarmVille ever was: the latter's high-water mark was 83.76 million users, a number it recorded last March.

Though the games are superficially similar, sharing a common crop-tending mechanic, CityVille's fields and barns are a literal and figurative background to its central theme: building a bustling city full of residents, businesses, and civic structures. It's a faster-paced game than FarmVille, and, if anything, it's even more aggressive in encouraging players to build in-game connections with real-life friends -- a factor that's bound to be helping its meteoric rise.

And boom town CityVille is looking set to grow even bigger. It continues to post gains of about two million players per day, according to blog InsideSocialGames, and fueled by the burgeoning popularity of Facebook in the U.S. and overseas the game could eventually top 125 million monthly players.

CityVille's success is good news for the game's developer, Zynga, which had been seeing a downturn in its total userbase over the latter part of last year. Almost all Zynga's Facebook titles have posted gains over the last month, including FarmVille, though at less than 60 million monthly players, it's a mere shadow of its former self.

Perhaps most impressively of all, the seven most-played games on Facebook are currently all Zynga games.

Member of the all-female singing and dance group “Baywalk Bodies” Rejoice Rivera was found dead at 3:45AM on December 29, near the Tabang toll gate of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).

Rejoice Rivera, who is Dianne Marie Santos in real life, sustained 2 bullet wounds in her head. She wore a gray shirt and maong short pants and authorities said that her wallet and cellphone are missing. She was 26. Her remains now lie in state in Malolos, Bulacan.

Capitol workers to get P40K Christmas Bonus

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Christmas will definitely be merry for employees of the provincial government.

Governor Lilia Pineda officially announced on Monday that each of the employees of the provincial government will be receiving a Christmas incentive of P40,000. The surprise pronouncement of the governor triggered wild applause and cheers from employees who attended the flag-raising ceremony.

“Gusto ko po palang ipaaalam sa inyo na ayos na ang inyong mga benepisyo ngayong Pasko. Tatanggap kayo nang tig-P40,000,” Pineda announced.

A reliable source from the Provincial Budget Office, who requested anonymity, told CL Daily that the incentives announced by Pineda were Productivity Enhancement Incentives which are in accordance with the Administrative Order signed by President Benigno C. Aquino III.

The source also clarified that the incentives being given away by the governor were not an accumulation of incentives which were not given by the administration of former Governor Eddie Panlilio.

“Iba itong P40,000 na ibinibigay ni Governor Lilia Pineda. Walang kinalaman ang mga hindi naipagkaloob na benepisyo noong nakaraang administrasyon,” the source explained.

It was also learned that those who are qualified to receive the P40,000 incentive are permanent, casual and contractual employees, including officials of the provincial government. However, “Job Order” employees are exempted from the list of beneficiaries, according to the source.

The source added that employees who are at least four months in service, as of November 30, 2010, are qualified to receive Christmas incentives. However, she stressed that those who are below four months of actual service will instead receive “pro-rata” benefit, adding that the Christmas incentives will be released from December 15 onwards.

“Nagpapasalamat kami kay Governor Pineda sa pamaskong benepisyo na binibigay niya sa amin. Masaya kami dahil ngayong taon ay maganda ang naging pakikitungo niya sa amin. Mapapasaya niya ang aming Pasko,” an employee said.

Pacquiao clobbers Margarito, claims eighth crown

ARLINGTON, Texas – Manny Pacquiao was once again masterful, beating Antonio Margarito so frightfully that Margarito’s face looked as it had been pounded repeatedly by a club.

Pacquiao won a unanimous one-sided decision in a blowout from the opening seconds of the fight to capture the World Boxing Council super welterweight title before 41,734 in-awe fans at Cowboys Stadium.

Pacquiao’s title belt, coming against an opponent who had a 17-pound weight advantage when the bell rang, 165-148, was the eighth in his illustrious career. Pacquiao has won world titles at 112, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, 147 and now 154 pounds.

Judges Jurgen Langos had it 120-109, Glen Crocker had it 118-110 and Oren Schellenberger had it 119-109 for Pacquiao. Yahoo! Sports scored it 120-107 for Pacquiao, giving Pacquiao a 10-8 edge in the 10th round when he dominated tremendously.

Margarito, fighting for the first time in the U.S. since Jan. 24, 2009, when he was caught with an illegal knuckle pad in his gloves before a loss to Shane Mosley, was never in the fight. Pacquiao’s speed was blinding and was the difference in the fight.

Pacquiao was hurt when Margarito landed a combination to the ribs, but he spun off the ropes and landed a three-punch combination to the head. Margarito’s right eye was swollen grotesquely, beginning in the fourth. By the 10th round, the left eye was a slit, too.

Pacquiao was looking at referee Laurence Cole late in the fight, asking him to stop it. Pacquiao said he eased off in the 12th round. “I did my best,” Pacquiao said. “He’s strong. He’s a very tough fighter. I can’t believe [he took those punches].”

Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, added “We didn’t lose a round. I wish they had stopped the fight. They probably ruined his career by not stopping the fight.”

An agency nurse working for the NHS was filmed switching off her patient's life support machine by mistake.
Tetraplegic Jamie Merrett, 37, had a bedside camera set up at his home in Wiltshire, after becoming concerned about the care he was receiving.
Within days, it captured the moment Violetta Aylward switched off the ventilator, leaving him brain-damaged.

DFA: Nurse in ventilator accident video is Filipina

The London-based nurse caught on video accidentally turning off her paralyzed patient’s ventilator — thus leaving him seriously brain-damaged — is Filipina, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Thursday.

In a statement, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in London is assisting 55-year-old Violeta Aylward, who was caught on a CCTV turning off the life-support system of her British patient in January 2009.
“The Embassy has reached out to the Filipina and conveyed its readiness to assist her. It is also actively monitoring developments of the case," the DFA said.

The DFA said Aylward’s license was suspended in October last year by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the British government’s regulatory board, and that the nurse is currently awaiting a schedule for a formal hearing of her case.

“The matter has been the subject of investigation by the United Kingdom Crown Prosecution Service, which did not find sufficient basis to file a criminal case against Ms. Aylward," the DFA added.

The video, by the Telegraph on its website on Oct. 25, shows Aylward pressing a button on the patient’s ventilator, which then emitted high-pitched warning sounds indicating that the machine was switched off.

The CCTV was installed by the patient himself, the report said, after he had expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of care he was getting from Ambition 24hours, the agency Aylward worked for.

The report identified the patient as 37-year-old Jamie Merrett, who became paralyzed from the neck down after a 2002 car accident.

The video also shows Aylward attempting to restart the ventilator. Unable to do so, she tried to operate the resuscitation equipment but instead of connecting it to the hole in the patient’s neck, Aylward placed it in his mouth.

With paramedics able to restart the machine only 21 minutes after, Merrett was starved of oxygen and sustained “severe" brain damage, leaving him with a mental capacity of a young child, the Telegraph said.
Prior to the incident, Merret’s family said the patient was able to talk, use a wheelchair and operate a computer using voice-activated technology. A separate report by the Daily Mail described Aylward as a learning disabilities nurse who had no previous training in intensive care and in managing ventilated patients.
Since the incident caused serious brain damage to Merret and diminished his quality of life, the family is now preparing to take legal action.

"His life is completely changed. He doesn't have a life now. He has an existence but it's nowhere near what it was before," Merrett’s sister Karen Reynolds told BBC’s Inside Out.

Ambition 24hours, the agency which supplied Aylward to care for Merrett at his home in Devizes in Wiltshire, has declined to comment on the issue saying an internal investigation is ongoing.

The NHS Wiltshire Primary Care Trust (PCT), the local government’s health institute, said in a statement it is investigating the January 2009 incident.

"We have apologized to the patient and his family for this, and have put in place a series of actions to ensure that such an event will not occur again either for this patient or others," the PCT said in a statement quoted by the Telegraph.

Facebook Now Tries to Tell the Story Between Two Friends

Facebook is rolling out a new breed of Pages called Friendship Pages that pull together the public wall posts, comments, photos (based on tags) and events that two friends have in common.

The Friendship Pages feature was cooked up by Facebook (Facebook) software engineer Wayne Kao and then brought to life in an internal hackathon event. The Pages are designed to the tell the story of two friends on Facebook through their shared activity.

“For those of us who have worked on it, the best part is the human side of these Pages (pages). They can bring back memories, conversations and times spent together,” explains Kao.

Friendship Pages are accessible from under the main photo on a friend’s profile Page and via links from related wall posts or relationship stories. The Pages are public to other members so long as they have permission to view both users’ profiles.

Friendship Pages are said to be launching today, but are likely being delivered to members in a gradual rollout. We think the Pages are an interesting alternative way to organize Facebook activity around friends, though it does add another layer of complexity to the site.

HOW TO: Protect Yourself From Firesheep With a VPN

A wildly popular new bit of malicious code called Firesheep is making the rounds among script kiddies and black-hat hackers; it allows them to access the cookies of any user on a non-password-protected wireless network. Once the ne’er-do-well in question is on the same public network as you, he or she can save and use your cookies to access your accounts (e-mail, Facebook and many other types of accounts, as well) through a point-and-click graphic interface.

In the words of the person who created Firesheep, “As soon as anyone on the network visits an insecure website [Facebook, Gmail, etc.] known to Firesheep, their name and photo will be displayed [in the Firesheep interface]. Double-click on someone, and you’re instantly logged in as them.”

For businesses with remote employees, Firesheep is a particular danger, as it potentially compromises your company’s data and accounts any time a worker logs in from a coffee shop, Internet cafe or other public network.

The practice is known as session hijacking; if you’d like more information on how the code works, check out this post on Firesheep’s technical details.

This code is being downloaded at an astonishingly high rate; although we don’t like to resort to scare tactics, we can’t currently recommend browsing on a network that isn’t password-protected.

As long as the network you’re on has any kind of password — even a publicly available password or an obvious password — Firesheep won’t work on that network. However, if you’re using public Wi-Fi at a Starbucks, a hotel lobby, a college campus or anywhere else where you don’t have to enter a password before getting access to the network, you’re putting yourself at risk.

Firesheep even works on airplanes, where the networks allow you some preliminary connection to the network before letting you browse the Internet.

There is a safe way to access Wi-Fi on the go. It might give you a slightly slower connection; it might even cost you a bit of money. But until the general mess that’s been caused by Firesheep gets sorted out, it’s better to take a few precautions than to let some random black hat steal your Internet accounts.
What’s a VPN?

A virtual private network (VPN) is the easiest way (other than avoiding unsecure Wi-Fi altogether) to prevent yourself from a Firesheep-powered attack.

VPNs create a private tunnel through the public network, protecting the user from any prying eyes (or packet sniffers) on his way from destination to destination online.

VPNs were used a lot during the Irani election and protests; they’re also used a lot in China and in other areas where access to the Internet is restricted.

Another group that uses VPNs frequently is corporations. Employees often need a safe way to access very private and sensitive information from a public network; VPNs provide security and access. (For more information on corporate use of VPNs, check out this HowStuffWorks article.)

The downside of using a VPN is that you may notice a drop in your connection speed. You might also have to pay for your secure Internet access.

The upside, with specific regard to Firesheep, is that you can sit elbow-to-elbow with a black hat hacker in a coffee shop and know that your data is safely encrypted.
A Few VPNs to Try

If you’d like to protect yourself and have a more secure browsing experience from a public network, we recommend that you try some of these VPNs and use one every time you log onto a public Wi-Fi network. This is definitely one case where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

China boasts world's fastest supercomputer

BEIJING (AFP) – China is set to trump the US to take the number one spot for the fastest supercomputer ever made in a survey of the world's zippiest machines, it was reported Thursday.
Tianhe-1, meaning Milky Way, has a sustained computing speed of 2,507 trillion calculations per second, making it the fastest computer in China on a list published Thursday.
But it is also 1.4 times faster that the world's current fastest ranked supercomputer in the US, housed at a national laboratory in Tennessee, according to the New York Times.

Tianhe-1 does its warp-speed "thinking" at the National Center for Supercomputing in the northern port city of Tianjin -- using mostly chips designed by US companies.
The Tianjin Meteorological Bureau and the National Offshore Oil Corporation data centre have both started trials using the computer.
"It can also serve the animation industry and bio-medical research," Liu Guangming, the supercomputing centre's director, told state news agency Xinhua.
According to Jack Dongarra, a University of Tennessee computer scientist who maintains the official supercomputer rankings which are due to be released next week, the Chinese beast "blows away the existing number one machine".
"We don't close the books until November 1, but I would say it is unlikely we will see a system that is faster," he told the New York Times.
It is not the first time, however, that the US has had its digital crown stolen by an Asian upstart. In 2002, Japan made a machine with more power than the top 20 American computers put together.

Japan is also working on a new machine called "K Computer" in a bid to take the supercomputing crown.
Computer designer Steven J. Wallach is not overly worried by China's rise to computing superpower.
"It's interesting, but it's like getting to the four-minute mile," he told the New York Times. "The world didn't stop. This is just a snapshot in time.
"They want to show they are number one in the world, no matter what it is."

What does a barangay captain do?

As barangay (village) captain, Constancia “Nene” Lichauco starts her day at 8 A.M. She organizes meetings, checks on barangay employees and tanods (watchmen), and implements projects for the village.

“Kapag nagkakaroon ng ng kaunting emergency that’s when I run and go to the spot kasi hands-on ako, ”she says.

Lichauco is no stranger to running a barangay. She has village captain in barangay Bel Air, Makati City from 1989 to 2007.

“Napakalawak ng responsibilities ng isang barangay captain,” she adds.

Under the legal system, the three branches of the government -- executive, legislative and judicial -- are being handled by the village chief.

“Barangay captains are more powerful than the president,” Lichauco admits.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez agrees. “If the way you see the barangay as a way of power and privilege, yes you can say that.”

However, the Comelec spokesperson noted that barangay chiefs are public servants.

“Very crucial kasi ang barangay… It is the last link between the government and the community,” Jimenez says.

Lichauco says a barangay captain oversees administrative work in the village. The chief also implements projects, takes care of the village budget and appoints watchmen.

Village chiefs are also tasked to oversee the cleanliness of their neighborhood and run sports programs for the unemployed and out-of-school youths. “Ito ang tunay na gobyerno sa level ng mamamayan,” Jimenez adds.

A barangay chief also wields legislative power. They can pass ordinances. “If we have to vote on it, we vote on it,” she notes.

Mediation, on the other hand, is the judicial power given to the barangay captains.

Instead of taking cases directly to court, barangay captains can serve as mediator between parties involved in disputes, including domestic problems, quarrels between househelp, apartment rents and inheritance.

Lichauco says she often is asked to gives her two cents’ worth to the parties involved in disputes. “Believe it or not, I love doing it because I love people.”

With all these powers, Jimenez stressed that people should take the post of barangay chief seriously. “Unfortunately, di siya pinapahalagahan nang ganoon,” he says.

For people who aspire for the post, Lichauco says they should be ready to provide their time 24 hours a day.

“Sa akin, ang pinaka-importante na quality is your intention to serve and no other agenda,” she says.

Hayden Kho launches perfume business in grand style

Tila iniwanan na ni Hayden Kho ang madilim niyang nakaraan sa launch ng Hayden, ang kanyang bagong perfume business noong Huwebes ng gabi, October 22, sa Nuvo, Greenbelt 2, Makati City.

Noong nakaraang taon, nalagay si Hayden sa matinding kontrobersiya matapos kumalat sa Internet ang ilang mga sex video na nagtatampok kay Hayden at sa iba't ibang mga babae, kasama ang sexy actress na si Katrina Halili.

Nag-file si Katrina ng criminal case laban kay Hayden. Nagkaroon pa ito ng Senate investigation kung saan ilang oras ding nilagay sa hot seat si Hayden sa harap ng ilang mambabatas na interesado umano sa kaso.

Sa katunayan, grand entrance ang naganap na pagpasok ng dating cosmetic doctor-model-actor sa naturang event. "I'm the type of person who's very kinesthetic. You know, I'm never satisfied with just looking at things. I always feel compelled to touch and smell things. I guess that's what got me into trouble before."

Pinaliwanag din niya kung bakit ang paggawa ng pabango ang naisip niyang gawing negosyo.

"When I was in med school, I read a scientific study that fragrance is linked to emotions. I became intrigued and I wanted to know why. But I had too many things to study and I kinda put that on the back burner. And then there was my medical career... and then my showbiz career, and things got chaotic...

"What I wanted to do was to find a new inspiration. I wanted something that could excite me, something very special. I wanted a fragrance like that... I guess when I couldn't find it, I decided to make it myself," saad ni Hayden.

Sa isang panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) matapos ng launch, sinabi ni Hayden na noong January pa niya naisip pumasok sa naturang business.

"It took us a while kasi ayoko talagang pumasok nang walang alam, e. Yung mga ilalabas naming fragrances, talagang iba-iba. Ayoko yung okay na 'yan, okay na 'yan," he said.

Pumunta pa raw si Hayden sa France para pag-aralan ang perfume-making.

"This is a line of fragrances created in Paris. We have 13 variants and we categorized it based on personality. For every personality, we have a certain perfume," saad niya.

Nang tanungin si Hayden kung ano ang kanyang nararamdaman, mabilis ang kanyang sagot: "Siyempre, masayang-masaya ako."

Masaya rin daw siya para sa kanyang ina na si Irene, na nasangkot din sa kontrobersiya nang may nasabi siyang mga pahayag laban kay Katrina sa isang interview.

Ani Hayden, "My mom is not that young anymore. Hindi niya kailangan yung ganitong problema."

Willing Willie Girls

Willie Revillame is back in the tube as an official “Kapatid” artist. Despite controversies and a staggering P486 million damage suit filed by ABS-CBN, “Willing Willie” premiered Saturday, October 23, as TV5’s flagship primetime variety program.

The show promises to change the way Filipinos spend their primetime viewing. In a timeslot where news programs dominate, “Willing Willie” aims to provide a “positive” viewing experience where families can enjoy and bond together over dinner without the usual “negativity” of evening news. It airs Monday to Friday, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Saturdays, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

“Tama na ang bad news. Tama na ang napapanood nating saksakan. Tama na ‘yong may naaksidente. Tama na ‘yong tatay ginahasa ang anak. Sa hapag-kainan, ‘yon na ang pinapanood namin sa ilang taon. Dapat iba na, saya at pag-asa na!,” Willie said.

Opening fiesta
The opening number was a melting pot of artists dancing to a resounding beat, a “Mardi Gras” complete with colorful attires and alluring women. Willing Willie Girls (WW.Girls) warmed up the stage before Revillame’s grand entrance on stage.

Revillame’s known supporters were present in the audience. Among them are Viva Films’ Vic del Rosario, TV5 chairman Manny Pangilinan, TV5 president and chief executive officer Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, TV5 executive vice president Bobby Barreiro, Senator Manny Villar and Congressman Mark Villar.
Friends from the showbiz industry also showed support for Revillame. Annabelle Rama was present with husband Eddie Gutierrez. Dr. Vicky Belo also graced the event with Hayden Kho.

Revillame thanked all his loyal followers and staff for standing by his side despite the controversies that surrounded his exit from ABS-CBN. Teary-eyed, he also took time to thank ABS-CBN chairman Gabby Lopez and president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio for giving him the chance to serve the Kapamilya network for five and a half years.

‘Wowowee’ with a different name?
“Willing Willie” bears many similarities with the defunct show “Wowowee.” The program sequence, set design, female dancers and staff are all too familiar. The line-up of games includes “123 Go,” “Shoot Mo Baby,” “Family Apir,” “Wall of Fortune,” and “Will Time Big Time.” Some of the terms used in the games may alarm the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). However, Willie is doing his best not to incite trouble for his new show.

“Sana wala akong memo. Sawang-sawa na ako sa memo,” Willie said.
The only obvious difference is that Willie has no multiple female co-hosts. The “Willing Willie Girls” served as temporary co-hosts. The launch only revealed Mo Twister joining the pack.
The pilot show ended with 18 senior citizens winning P500,000 pesos in the game “Will Time Big Time.” Willie Revillame said that whatever happens, he will try his best to continue to bring happiness to Filipinos all over the world.

TRO petition denied
The show’s airing pushed through after the Quezon City Regional Trial Court denied an ABS-CBN petition for a temporary restraining order to halt the pilot episode.
Judge Luisito Cortez of QC RTC Branch 84 ruled in favor of Willie because “ABS-CBN has failed to discharge the burden of proving that there exists an urgent need for the issuance of a TRO to prevent any great or irreparable injury that it might suffer before the preliminary injunction could be heard.” However in another resolution, Cortez junked Willie’s plea to dismiss ABS-CBN’s counterclaim suit and was ordered to post a bond amounting to P426,917,646.96 by October 27.

ABS-CBN had filed a counterclaim suit against Willie seeking a total of P486 million in damages for breaching his talent contract with the Kapamilya network that would have run until September 2011. This was in response to an earlier suit filed by Willie seeking P11 million in damages against the network for violating his contract when ABS-CBN placed him on indefinite leave after he dared the network on-air to dismiss fellow studio talent Jobert Sucaldito over disparaging comments against “Wowowee” in his radio show.
In the months succeeding his exit, several replacement hosts appeared on “Wowowee,” which was then canceled on July 31 in favor of a new noontime program, “Pilipinas Win na Win.”

Charo’s statement
Charo, who had been a close friend of Willie through the years and had been his ally in tumultuous controversies as host of “Wowowee,” now showed her disgust over Willie’s actions. In an evening newscast Friday, she expressed her sadness over the court decision denying the network’s petition for a temporary restraining order on Willie’s new show on TV5.

In the statement she said:
“Mga Kapamilya, ang ginawa po ni Willie ay isang paglabag sa kanyang kontratang pinirmahan sa ABS-CBN na magtatapos pa sa isang taon. Ang hangarin lang namin ay tuparin sana ni Willie ang kanyang obligasyon sa kanyang kontrata. Hindi po ba mahalaga na ipinaiiral natin ang paggalang sa mga kontrata?
“Kaya po nalulungkot kami na hindi nabigyan ng TRO ang ABS-CBN laban kay Willie Revillame.
“Huwag sana natin kalimutan na ang lahat ng ito ay nag-ugat sa walang galang niyang paghamon at pagbabanta sa ABS-CBN management.
“Naniniwala kami na mananaig ang katarungan at ang buong katotohanan. Patuloy namin ipaglalaban ang aming karapatan.”

Head of slain call center agent found in creek

MABALACAT, Pampanga, Philippines—The head of a call center agent murdered in a motel room in Angeles City last week was found beside a creek in Sta. Inez village here on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, Angeles police director, said the head of Katrina Gantan, 22, who worked at the Sutherland Global Services Philippines inside the Clark Freeport, was found by residents inside a sack left under the Morales Bridge.

Bautista said residents noticed the stench coming from the sack teeming with flies at a grassy portion of the bank of the Sapang Balen creek at 11:20 a.m. When they opened the sack, they were shocked to see a woman's head inside.

On October 4, policemen arrested Adonis Reyes, 30, Gantan's boyfriend and co-worker for his alleged involvement in the murder. Employees of Miyabe Court in Angeles said Reyes matched the description of Gantan's companion when they checked into the motel on the night of October 1. Gantan was found headless and naked inside a toilet in the motel the following day.

Gantan's parents said the artist's sketch provided by the police resembled Reyes' features. Reyes, however, denied involvement in Gantan's murder.

Pictured is a young physician by the name of Dr. Roger Starner Jones. His short two-paragraph letter to the White House accurately puts the blame on a "Culture Crisis" instead of a "Health Care Crisis"..

It's worth a quick read:

Dear Mr. President:
During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.

While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one pack of cigarettes every day, eats only at fast-food take-outs, and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer. And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture" a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me". Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.

2 killed in Mabalacat ambush

MABALACAT – A businessman and his relative were gunned down along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Mabiga here around 12 p.m. Sunday.
The victims, Leonardo “Boy Dagul” Licup, a quarry operator, of Green Meadows Subdivision here; and his uncle Dolly Licup of Porac town, were about to cross the national highway in front of the Golden Land Subdivision in said village on board a car when they were ambushed.

Using a .45 caliber pistol, the gunman shot Leonardo first, who was driving the car, which then slammed into a tree across the road.
Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said the victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of their bodies.
The victim’s vehicle was peppered with bullets, two bullet holes on the window of the driver seat, one at the back glass and several on the back left window.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered some six spent shells at the portion where the suspect shot the victims.
The victims reportedly came from a building near the entrance of the said subdivision before the incident.
Sun.Star Pampanga learned that Leonardo is the owner of the said building and that he was inspecting the ongoing construction of one of his tenants before he and his uncle were attacked by the killer.
After shooting the victims, the gunman boarded a motorcycle without a license plate and headed to Barangay Mawaque, witnesses said.
But before the suspect fled, the gunman reportedly fired warning shots to prevent bystanders from mobbing them.
The gunman was described as thin, stands around 5-foot-10, 20 to 30 years old, and with short hair and fair complexion.
The accomplice on the other hand is about 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-5 in height, chubby, with dark complexion and short hair.
Mendoza said they are conducting a hot pursuit and follow up operation to establish the identity of the suspects and the motive behind the killing.

   3. Is IMMORTALTXT10 still available?

No, IMMORTALTXT10 is no longer available. You can try the new and improved IMMORTALTXT 20. For only P20, get 75 texts to Globe/TM and 10 texts to other networks, NO EXPIRY!

   4. I still have leftover intra and inter texts from my old Immortaltxt10 subscriptions. Will this be affected by the introduction of Immortaltxt20?

You can still continue to use your leftover intra and inter texts from your old Immortaltxt10 subscriptions. However, the new maintaining balance of P5 will now be applied to all Immortaltxt subscriptions (old and new). This means that you will now need P5 maintaining balance to be able to use your Intra texts from your old ImmortalTxt10 subscriptions.

   5. What will happen if I send a text message to a Globe subscriber when my maintaining balance is below P5?

If you still have remaining Free SMS in your account (which may be used for Intra/Inter), your text to the Globe/TM subscriber will be deducted from this. If you no longer have Free SMS in your account, P1 will be deducted from your regular load.

   6. Why did you increase price from P10 to P20?

The price of Immortaltxt has increased from P10 to P20 because of the new and improved components of the promo ¿ it now has 75 texts to Globe/TM and 10 texts to other networks, NO EXPIRY! Try it now, just text IMMORTAL20 to 8888 to register.

   7. How can I register to IMMORTALTXT?

You can register by texting IMMORTAL20 to 8888. You will receive a confirmation message once you are registered. PhP20 will be deducted from your load upon SMS confirmation.

The confirmation message will be:

"You can now use new and improved IMMORTALTXT! Enjoy 75 texts to Globe/TM plus 10 texts to other networks, NO EXPIRY! Must maintain P5 to use the service. To check the status of ur IMMORTALTXT, txt IMMORTALBAL to 8888. DTI#xxxxs10, promo til xx/xx.."

   8. How long will the service be valid?

The IMMORTALTXT service has no expiry! You just have to maintain P5 balance to continue using the service until you have fully consumed the 75 text messages to Globe/TM and 10 text messages to other networks.

   9. Will the NO EXPIRY apply to my SIM when I register to IMMORTALTXT?

No, the NO EXPIRY will not apply to your SIM. You will still need to load to maintain your SIM's validity.

10. Is IMMORTALTXT available to existing Globe Prepaid subscribers?

Yes, IMMORTALTXT is available to existing Globe Prepaid subscribers and Globe Tattoo subscribers.

11. Is IMMORTALTXT available to Globe Postpaid subscribers?

No, IMMORTALTXT is only for Globe Tattoo and Globe Prepaid subscribers. Postpaid subscribers who try to register to the service will not be charged for the transaction.

12. Is IMMORTALTXT available to TM also?

No, IMMORTALTXT is only for Globe Tattoo and Globe Prepaid subscribers. TM subscribers who try to register to the service will not be charged for the transaction.

13. Is IMMORTALTXT applicable to Globe Tattoo and Globe Prepaid subscribers on Roaming?

No, IMMORTALTXT is not applicable to Globe Tattoo and Globe Prepaid subscribers when roaming. Regular roaming charges will apply for any transactions made.

14. What should be my prepaid minimum balance to subscribe to the IMMORTALTXT service?

The required minimum balance to register to IMMORTALTXT is P20. You will need to maintain at least P5 to continue to enjoy using the service.

Note: P5 minimum balance should be maintained in order to continuously enjoy the no expiry text messages to Globe/TM and to other networks. Should you be registered but have used up your load due to texts on top of the IMMORTALTXT allocation, you will not be able to use you IMMORTALTXT until you reload at least P5 in your account.


15. How will I know that my IMMORTALTXT subscription has expired?

Your IMMORTALTXT subscription will not expire as long as your SIM is still active. The subscription will remain valid until you have fully consumed your text messages.

You may also text IMMORTAL BAL to 8888 to request for a status update of your subscription. You will receive a reply message that will indicate the following:

    * Number of texts to Globe/TM left in the subscription
    * Number of texts to other networks left in the subscription. The remaining FREE SMS in the account will be added to the free texts to other networks and will be included in the reply message.

You will not be charged for the balance inquiry.

Sample reply message:

"You have remaining XX texts to Globe/TM and XX texts to other networks. Your texts to other networks have been added to your account's free texts."
