Thus, it true with the Bush Administration. Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan recently came out with a book in which he claims that President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Karl Rove were involved in giving the press false information about the CIA leak. Well, well, what do you know? This is not surprising move on Scott McClellen part. Everyone already speculated that the White House was going to cover it up anyways. Speaking about ending, the debate of whether Iran should or should not have nuclear capabilities has risen to new heights with an Anti-Nuke Activist saying that Iran has "rights" to have nuclear capabilities. Well, that's certainly a new one. I've never heard a anti-nuke activist saying that another nation should have the rights to have nuclear capabilities. I would think that they would say that no nation should have any rights to nuclear capabilities.

Speaking of capabilities, it looks like Senator John McCain is still lacking substantial funding for his campaign. Not only that, but his apparent pride is causing him from getting critical help that is perfectly legal under current campaign finance laws. Will he request for help? Also, in the news (or will always be in the news) is Obama has been under fire for his stance on Social Security by his willingness to increase Social Security. Is this a good idea? For some, it's hard to tell, for others, it's a no brainer.

In Washington right now, it seems that one of American's least favorite diplomat, John Bolton, hasn't really proved why Americans should be thrilled about some of his accomplishments while in his position. We all know that no one likes an angry bully and that's exactly what Bolton has been doing, "Bolton??s whole modus operandi is to get angry that every country doesn??t defer to American interests.". Bolton could use some advise from Gandhi. Makes me wonder what Bolton stance would be on Hemp and Pot? Well, according to WP, this coming Wednesday, a fellow aspiring hemp farmer, will ask a federal judge in Bismarck to force the Drug Enforcement Administration to yield to a state law that would license them to become hemp growers. This could get interesting, especially for the state of California.

Lastly, in Albany, New York, more information as been divulge that indicates that Gov. Spitzer's former communications director, Darren Dopp, asked another Spitzer aide to lie about the origins of the Dirty Tricks Scandal. With this new information, everybody will be demanding that Gov. Spitzer explain himself, that is, if he thinks he has some explaining to do. Some are already calling for him to be removed from office (or more accurately, questioning how do you remove a sitting governor out of the office?).

Quote of the Day:
"Ron Paul will take money from Nazis. But he won??t take telephone calls from Jews." ~Daniel Siederaski

words of political failure

A day before October 31, the Republican party and the Democratic party are having an all-out shooting war at each other. Well, with words anyways. Both sides are blaming each other for the failure of Congress in its ineffectiveness in passing critical legislation. The question now is, who do you believe? Howard Dean, President Bush or yourself?

Howard Dean on the failure of the Republican party:

"President Bush has it all wrong. Voting to end the war in Iraq is not wasted time. Voting to give low income kids health care is not wasted time. And voting to care for our brave veterans is not wasted time. The hypocrisy from this White House is almost unbelievable, even from President Bush. After signing $3 trillion in new spending, President Bush and his Republican allies are playing political games to distract from their dismal fiscal record but Congress will not be bullied into giving him a blank check for his failed policies. Democrats will continue to fight for the American people, and voters will elect a Democratic president next year to ensure that the White House will listen to them."

President Bush on the failure of the Democratic party:

'Congress has been unable or unwilling to get its basic job done of passing spending bills.?? ??They have not been able to send a single annual appropriations bill to my desk, and that??s the worst record for a Congress in 20 years. One of the important responsibilities of the Congress is to pass appropriations bills. And yet the leadership that??s on the Hill now cannot get that job done.??.

??They haven??t seen a bill they could not solve without shoving a tax hike into it.?? ??You know, they proposed tax increases in the farm bill, the energy bill, the small business bill, and of course, the SCHIP bill.??.

??[P]roposed spending is skyrocketing under their leadership. After all, they??re trying to spend an additional $205 billion over the next five years.?? ??Some have said, well, that doesn??t matter much; it??s not that much money. Well, $205 billion over the next five years in the real world amounts to this: $4.7 million per hour, every hour, for every day, for the next five years. That??s a lot of money.??'
You see, the people tend to forget that it's their job to run their own government. Of course, it's easier to elect people to run the government for them, but the entire concept of democracy is that it's the people's responsibility to run the government as they see fit. Yet, the failure of Congress passing null in the last several weeks is a testament that even the Democratic party cannot keep its promises. Nancy Pelosi's own party is turning on her because she has failed to shake up the status quo in Washington DC. While earlier in her term as House Speaker she has done some exceptional accomplishments in the short term, she has failed to do what it takes to be successful in the long term.

Is this the beginning of signs of weakness of the Democratic party? Little does it mean now, but if the Democratic party doesn't shape up its act in Congress, you would be surprised how fast people will change their mind as well as it might put the Presidential election in favor for the Republican party. Just one tip for ya: watch closely.

Tanner's Head on a Plate?

Obama campaign is calling for John Tanner head on his plate. John Tanner, the top ranking voting right official at the Justice Department said in a video that, claimed that photo ID requirements do not disproportionately disenfranchise minority voters. While most of us cannot either confirm or deny his claim because there is not enough sufficient evidence to indicate that what John Tanner says is true. According to David Plouffe, Obama Campaign Manager, the reason why they are seeking Tanner head on a plate is because Tanner also implicated that, in blunt terms, what impacts the elderly has the opposite impact on minorities.

The center of this controversy has been taking place in Georgia, since 2005. The photo ID requirement, by all means, is a great idea. However, if the studies are correct, and (I'm am baffled why Tanner has overruled) the recommendation of the Justice Department lawyers made, then I would have to agree with Obama campaign that the photo ID requirement is pushing it too far. I believe the alternative has been recommended that they offer photo ID to be optional, but requiring photo ID to be able to vote is, troublesome.

Voting should be simple, not complicated.

Video below:

Pants on what?

Pants-on-Fire wrong.

A Canadian perspective of the politics of Hillary Clinton

Miracle on the Bayou

??only one thing is impossible to God: to find any sense in any copyright law on the planet.?? It's difficult to believe that one of the most strongest political machines that the American people had ever seen during 2004 will barely cease to exist. Hurricane K, Iraq, and most notably, Blackwater has GOP crawling on its knees, and they have yet succeeded in rebuilding the trust of the American people. Not that this is particularly Bush fault, but it lack of faith in itself on many of the issues in Congress. The GOP miscalculation lies in their fault in their inabilities to understand that the people care about the issues, it doesn't mean that they want the issues to be fixed, but it implies that it should of been taken care of when they came into power.

Now, it's too little, too late.

This current election is witnessing a trend, which, Democrats are now taking the lead in gathering political contribution that they otherwise would of went to the GOP. Krugman puts it nicely,

Oops. According to data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics, in the current election cycle every one of the top 10 industries making political donations is giving more money to Democrats. Even industries that have in the past been overwhelmingly Republican, like insurance and pharmaceuticals, are now splitting their donations more or less evenly. Oil and gas is the only major industry that the G.O.P. can still call its own.

While it's true that oil and gas is the only major industry that the GOP can still call its "own", there is another consideration. Many in the GOP are disgusted with their association with the oil and gas corporation and there is some indication that many in the party want to disassociate themselves from being associated with oil and gas corporations.

Not that it will do them any good in the short run, but it's possible that it will give them more leverage in the future.

Image of the Day: Play the Candidate Match Game

Want to know the secret behind this image? I believe every American should read it and be encouraged by it. He's hilarious and takes the opportunity to explain why he took Maureen Dowd offer to write: 2008 Election is important.

So why I am writing Miss Dowd's column today? Simple. Because I believe the 2008 election, unlike all previous elections, is important. And a lot of Americans feel confused about the current crop of presidential candidates.

So what does Stephen Colbert do? He crops all the Presidential Candidates in less than two sentences each. Ah, it too much! You have to read his column because it, well, better than Maureen Dowd's finest moments. What can I say? I don't read the New York Times much either. But then again, if Stephen Colbert wrote in place of Maureen Dowd, I would pick up the New York Times more often. Better, yet, I would subscribe to them.

Best Quote of the Day:

I called Colbert with a dare: if he thought it was so easy to be a Times Op-Ed pundit, he should try it. He came right over. In a moment of weakness, I had staged a coup d'moi. I just hope he leaves at some point. He's typing and drinking and threatening to "shave Paul Krugman with a broken bottle."

So...
