And we are looking for some very interesting places to visit, enjoy and relax. Many people search information through internet, friends’ experience and so on. But nowadays an iPhone/iPod touch app, Top-Tens gives the user the ability to keep tabs on the top 10s of their favorite hobbies, interests or pastimes. It allows users to see a series of top 10s for the most popular theme parks and water parks in the USA and UK and other attractions worldwide.

According to the SOURCEWIRE, if you choose Top-Tens, it will be with you every step of the way by listing the top 10 rides and attractions at each of the theme and water parks, allowing you to plan your visit with the minimum of fuss.
The list includes top 10 books, movies, albums, singles and more.

Rod Cambridge, developer of Top-Tens said: “I’m off to Florida this summer and so I thought it would be cool to track the top 10 rides and attractions at the major Theme Parks so that when we get there, we know exactly where to head”.

“I thought it would be cool to add these to the library in Top-Tens so that anyone else who's traveling this summer and using my app can also benefit.”

Top-Tens can be downloaded from the iPhone App store for £1.19 ($1.99) here:
http://www.itunes.com/apps/top-tens

Originally featured on Blogvasion.com

Then your Voicemail button must be totally useless, right? This little hack will bring your Voicemail button to life.

The first step is to find out the voicemail number of your cellular provider. For example, I have to dial 311 to access my voicemail. Usually, your provider will have this information on their website.

Once you have found out your voicemail number, click the iPhone's Phone icon.

Now switch to the keypad by touching the Keypad tab.

Then type the following code: *5005*86*xxxx#, where xxxx is the voicemail number that you found out in the first step. In my case, the code was *5005*86*311#.

Finally, touch the Call button.

In a moment your iPhone's voicemail button will be brought to life. Now touch the Voicemail button and your iPhone will dial your voicemail number.

If you liked this tip, you may like to check out a post listing all of my beginner tips.

At least that's what Apple's Tom Neumayr said, according to CNN. "Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content, such as pornography.", says Neumayr.

Interestingly, "Hottest Girls", an adult application, was already approved by Apple when the application hit the App Store. However, the application was quickly removed from the App Store.

To be honest, I don't care much whether adult content is present at the App Store or not as long as there is proper parental control system in place.

One way or another, this will be bad news for developers who are already working on adult applications and I think it would have been nice of Apple if they had warned developers earlier.

Half asleep, I decided to give it a try. When I bought my iPhone 3G, it was already unlocked and jailbroken by the shop. So, I'm a rookie in this respect. As promised, I'm writing about my experience with the upgrade process. Hopefully, this post will be useful if you have not upgraded to OS 3.0 yet and plan to do so. Let's start.

Overall, the process went smoothly and took about 40 minutes. As long as you follow a couple of easy steps, you shall have no problems.

STEP 1. The first step is very easy. You just connect your iPhone to your PC, start iTunes and use upgrade your iPhone to OS 3.0. Once this has been done, your iPhone will have OS 3.0 on board. However, as expected your iPhone won't be able to register on your cellular operator. DON'T PANIC. This will be sorted our quickly.

STEP 2. As a step two, you run the redsn0w application. Here is a link for the redsn0w web site http://redsn0w.com/. I downloaded the app via the official torrent. You are welcome to use any of the numerous mirrors.

This step involves a tricky moment. You shall switch your iPhone in a so called DFU mode. It may take you a couple of tries before you succeed (it took me two). I highly recommend visiting this link http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034. You can find a detailed instruction and a video there.

Also, you shall install either Cydia or Icy. In the past, I used to have Cydia and it is very cool. Now, I decided to go with Icy. You select this when you run redsn0w.

One more thing with this process is that you will have to locate the OS 3.0 image downloaded by iTunes. On Windows Vista and Windows 7 you typically find it in this location: "C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" where USER is your Windows username.

STEP 3. Run Cydia or Icy and add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com. As you know, in ultrasn0w the last O before "w" is a digit zero not O. So, keep this in mind.

STEP 4. Search for "ultrasn0w" in Cydia or Icy and install ultrasn0w. Please note that, when you first run Cydia or Icy, it may take a while before the repos are updated.

STEP 5. Reboot your iPhone.

PLEASE NOTE: According to the Dev Team, T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w!!!

So, the process is quite straightforward and simple and generally, you shall not experience any difficulties. If I did this easily, you shall do easily as well. Again, this was a first hand experience from a total rookie :)

This may sound dumb, however, I'd rather stick to a browser and the Twitter web site as is. Generally, I'd rather have everything in browser... well maybe some day.

However, when it comes to iPhone, I really like specialized applications. For example, Facebook has a really cool iPhone version of the site for the Safari browser. Yet, I prefer the standalone application.

I'd been using Twittelator for accessing Twitter from my iPhone for months. I really liked Twittelator, however, it does have some annoyances (well not precisely annoyances but lack of functionality I'd say). But Twittelator is FREE, which makes it a very good and decent app. And here comes TweetDeck. Which is also free and which is a far better application (this is my very personal opinion and I did not intend to offend Twittelator developers in any way :). TweetDeck belongs to a commercial-level software and it's so cool to see this app free.

As I have mentioned above, I don't use any Twitter clients on my desktop, however I've heard that TweetDeck is one of the most popular desktop clients for Twitter.

So, if you have not downloaded TweetDeck for your iPhone, I highly recommend this application.

According to that report, too many application in Apple App Store are totally useless and aren't worth a penny. To be honest, the game that you will learn in a moment about, belongs to a category, which I used to consider totally useless. However, after playing around with this game, I've really changed my mind.

Drums Challenge developed by MusiGames Studio is played by tapping on a virtual drum kit on an iPhone or iPod Touch and players challenge drummers of different styles such as jazz, blues, funk, rock, metal, punk, Latin and reggae. Each battle takes place when the opponent starts playing a song on the drums. After a sequence of notes is played, the user has to repeat the sequence of drum beats, playing each drum part with the correct timing.

Believe me, Drums Challenge is a really challenging game and entertainment is guaranteed whether you are sitting in a queue at a doctor's reception or traveling or just sitting at home.

Each of the 25 drum battles presents a unique challenge in terms of rhythm, style and music perception. While the player advances, defeating better and better drummers, they receive special drum parts that are then available to use in the freestyle mode. This is another aspect of the application that is really interesting.

Drums Challenge can be purchased exclusively through the Apple App Store for $2.99.

Happy drumming!

In this post, I would like to speak about a freeware alternative from Callpod, Inc. called Keeper.

After using Keeper for over a week, I found this application to be extremely useful. The application sports a sleek and intuitive user interface. Your data is protected with a 128-bit AES encryption. One of the features that I love about Keeper is the ability to sync with Mac and PC desktops and sync with multiple computers.

One more powerful feature is the Self-Destruct mode. If an intruder enters a wrong password five times, all data is erased. You can disable this feature if you prefer.

I highly recommend this application and it's so cool to see software of this class available free of charge on App Store. Keeper is a truly freeware - no ads, no spam, no catch.

Download Keeper now.

This includes a couple of credit card numbers, over two dozen passwords, several bank account numbers and more. Storing this type of information in a clear text format may be the most stupid decision one can make. Therefore, we need some sort of protection. That's when security applications enter the game.

SBSH Mobile Software has recently released SafeWallet for iPhone/iPod Touch. The Iphone phenomenon is extending rapidly and you are able to find thousands of opinions, comments and rankings everywhere on the web. Now, if you already have your IPhone, the next thing to do is find the proper apps that suit your needs. Most people tend to choose all those apps related to video, music and photos, because IPhone holds all kinds of entertainment in one…still, if you want it to be a part of your working life or of your life as a student and want to be virtually present everywhere too, here is a list of applications that can make your day.

1. Air Sharing: Left the information at home? Never again. No need to take your laptop everywhere. With this free app for file storage, you can transfer or exchange your files via wi-fi and carry them with you all the time. Files are accessed from the same program (compatibility with a huge amount of formats). Compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux.

2. Wikipanion plus: How many times have you needed a definition, a date, biography and other specific information and there is no PC around? With this Wikipedia browsing application for IPhone your problem is solved. All the knowledge from the web into a hand-sized gadget. Direct connection with Wikipedia servers, so there is no no third-party servers fuss. Automatic search while you type and the last visited page opens from when you last left the application. It supports searching and browsing in more than 75 languages. Great app!

3. Tweeter: Scaled down version of the Twitter for IPhone. You can update your status remotely, view direct messages sent to you or view the public timeline. Very nice interface. Upload images and show the world what you’re doing instantly. Great for sending a picture when words don’t seem to help for descriptions.

4. Skype: All Skype functionalities in your IPhone. You can call and chat with all your skype contacts. No extra voice delays (it uses an AJAX interface). If your contact is not online, you can still call his mobile or landline. Good for saving some money.

5. Fieldrunners: While commuting, a very good way to kill time and help your eyesight as well (games which involve lots of eye movement help distinguish contrast, a capacity that people start to lose as they grow older). This Tower Defense game has free content updates. The idea is to defend and control the field using a big selection of upgradeable towers and lots of tactics against your enemies (thousands!). Try to dominate the fieldrunners and rise to the top as the Tower Defense Master. Very entertaining and probably the best game for IPhone so far.

Technology is advancing so fast that I am sure that when this little article is published there will some new apps already in the market, waiting for new users and their ratings. In the meantime, let’s enjoy the good ones that we have already discovered which are making our lives a little more pleasant everyday.

Written by Josh Downing. The woman said she could not work in front of a computer as she needed to lie in the dark. However, she was then seen to be surfing the Facebook. This statement was made by her employer Nationale Suisse. This fact has destroyed the company's trust in the employee. As a result, the woman has been fired.

The fired woman says that she was indeed in bed and was surfing Facebook from her iPhone. Moreover, she accused her employer of spying on her and other employees by sending a mysterious friend request which allows access to personal online activity. Of course the company quickly rejected the accusations. According to the official information, employee's Facebook activity had been stumbled across by a colleague in November, before use of the social network site was blocked in the company.

What do you think about this story? After all, Breakout was the first game that I've played on a computer back in 1980s. From a programmer's perspective, Breakout is a sort of game (along with Columns of course) that every game programmer must develop. I've played all sorts and flavors of Break out from very traditional to very odd and sometimes bizarre versions.

There is no doubt that iPhone has given the second life to the arcade game genre. While iPhone is a device with enough power to handle sophisticated 3D shooters, arcade is something that perfectly fits the wonder device. Accelerometer doesn't play the least role in this. It's a real pleasure and more action to play accelerometer-enabled games.

The folks at Roundthird have developed a cool Breakout-style game for iPhone called Radial 50. This is probably the most peculiar and novel variation of this game. "Radial 50 expands on the arcade classic by allowing players to control the paddle and ball around a 360-degree environment. The objective is different from the classic, as you are focused on defeating the central target rather than the often painful chore of eliminating all targets".

To admit I was sort of puzzled when I first heard about Radial 50. However, after watching the video I immediately admitted that Radial 50 would become one of the most addictive games for iPhone.

Radial 50 Demo from Radial 50 on Vimeo.

For now enjoy the video and stay tuned. Yes, there will be a prize valued at over $13,000 for one lucky customer. Namely, the prize consists of a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro.

Downloading a new app via your computer, iPhone or iPod touch is what you need to to do to participate. If you don't own an iPhone or iPod touch, you can still participate in the promotion by completely filling out an alternative form.

As you can see the App Store is a huge success. The following figures vividly illustrate this. As of today, over 5 million applications are downloaded from the App Store every day. This is up from a rate of 4.76 million applications per day in January and 2.2 million in December. Thus, it's not a surprise that the half a billion milestone was reached on January 16th and after about three months we are talking about the the billionth download.

In particular I'd like to thank James who suggested updating Cydia mobile substrate. It looks that this update does fix the problem and I have not experienced Skype problems anymore.

So, if you do have a jailbroken iPhone make sure to apply the Cydia mobile substrate update. Just run the Cydia application and it will show this update in the changes section.

Happy Skyping!

While some of the all-in-one instant messengers like Nimbuzz do provide Skype connectivity, I always prefer an official application.

I installed Skype on my iPhone immediately it became available on the App Store. Unfortunately, the application crashes and shutsdown frequently. No, practically it's useless. I'm not sure whether it is my iPhone to blame or there are some problems with the application. Anyhow, it's really great to see Skype coming to iPhone and hopefully the developers will quickly fix whatever problems or bugs may be in the current release.

Download Skype for iPhone now! It's not surprise that Apple has taken care of this direction on iPhone as well. The reason is simple. With the advent of complex web applications, JavaScript performance has become a critical factor for a browser success.

Ars Technica has published results of a rather interesting research. According to the findings, early JavaScript benchmarks from iPhones running a beta of iPhone OS 3.0 suggest the new version will bring big speed gains to web apps running in Mobile Safari, even on existing iPhone hardware.

In a nutshell, we shall see a 3x speed improvement. It is even speculated that the browser on iPhone 3.0 will deliver a 16x speed boost over the existing version of Mobile Safari in iPhone OS 2.2.

Well, I think we have to wait and see the final results when the iPhone 3.0 becomes available.

GRAPH SOURCE: Ars Technica

Even with the new features present in iPhone 3.0 there's still one area for which I need a jailbroken iPhone and it is VoIP. Yes, there's a cool SIP software called Siphon, which is available on jailbroken iPhones only. However, even this reason for jailbreaking may become unnecessary and this is why.

Yesterday I got an update of a popular messenger application Nimbuzz. Incidentally, a couple of minutes later I got an interesting e-mail from Numbuzz folks. It turns out that "it has taken quite a few rejections with Apple" but finally new Nimbuzz is available via the App Store.

New Nimbuzz sports not only a new and updated interface but a whole array of VoIP functionality. SkypeOut is there. Support for a popular VoIP provider SipGate is there too and a lot more. To be short, new Nimbuzz rocks.

Unfortunately, I've experienced some problems with SipGate. Namely, the dialing worked, but I could not get an incoming call. SkypeOut works fantastically well.

All in all, Nimbuzz is going to the right direction and in my opinion Nimbuzz is one of the best (if not the best) messengers available for iPhone. It must noted that the VoIP functionality works both on WiFi and 3G connections alike.

Well, I think that Apple has placed some artificial restrictions on iPhone. For example, we know that iPhone is inherently a multi-tasking capable device. Yet, we don't get this feature. Jailbreak your iPhone and it will be come multi-tasking-enabled. A number of other areas can be mentioned where jailbreaking iPhone makes sense.

Recently, I've been asking myself a question why I have jailbroken iPhone. To admit, there are only a couple reasons. First, jailbreaking has given me much needed multitasking. Second, I use a VoIP application Siphon. Finally, there is one serious reason - tethering. I have switched to iPhone from Nokia E90 Communicator. I'm acustomed to using mobile phones as modems. So, why shall I not be able to use iPhone - a 3.5G device as a modem?

Unfortunately, even with iPhone 3.0 software, jailbreaking might remain the only way to fully use iPhones potential. So sad, so sad.

Although I believe we won't get the full preview of iPhone 3.0, we will learn much about this important update. Is Apple adding some of the iPhone's most heavily requested software features? Nobody knows for sure. There have been so many rumors about iPhone 3.0 recently that it has become really difficult to assume anything. Below are a couple of features that are believed to be present in iPhone 3.0. But again, these are only assumptions.

Cut/Copy and Paste - of course this is one of the missed functions. Especially, if you've switched to iPhone from Symbian or WinMo.

Push Notifications - This was promised by Apple so most likely we'll see this one implemented.

Background Multitasking - Jailbroken iPhone owners do get multitasking via an application available on Cydia. However, it's better to have multitasking which is supported by Apple.

MMS - I personally don't use MMS but I know many people like this functionality.

It is also believed that a couple of other stuff will be present in iPhone 3.0 like tethering, compass, premium app store plus and a new app launcher.

Again, all of the above are just assumptions. We'll have to wait and see what kind of a surprise Apple has prepared for us.

Stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feed.

As an e-book reading device, iPhone has become even more interesting after Amazon released the Kindle application for iPhone. But is Kindle for iPhone the best e-book reading software?

I've tried eReader, Kindle for iPhone and Stanza. I find Stanza to be the most functional and useful e-book reader application for iPhone. Stanza is a feature-rich application and a lot of free e-books are available for it, 25,000+ free titles from Project Gutenberg for example.

These three e-book reader application are free. Thus, you can try and decide which to keep on your iPhone. After using these applications, I've decided to keep Kindle and Stanza.

To admit, iPhone is the only mobile handset on which I've played games and they are really exciting (yes yes I can hear NGage users screaming but come on iPhone is way more powerful).

I believe more excitement will come when Konami releases Metal Gear Solid Touch for iPhone. The company has released new screenshots and they are indeed tempting. Metal Gear on iPhone will feature 20 levels of action. It's known that the first 12 levels will be released for iPhone and iPod Touch this month. The rest of the levels will follow as a free update for existing owners.

SOURCE: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2009/03/63732259/1

Sometimes I feel scared by thinking how attached to Google we are (at least I am).

However, yesterday I got an e-mail from Mr. Kevin Rood of Acceletron Corporation, creator of an RSS reader application called Readello. What is so special about Readello? Unlike traditional RSS readers, Readello synchronizes with your Google RSS Reader account. Thus, Readello does not replace Google RSS Reader. Rather, Readello is a perfect companion and if you use the Google RSS Reader, you should get Readello for sure.

As soon as you run Readello, you feel that the application is well organized and you can be syncing with your Google Reader account in less then 20 seconds. Basically, you just provide your account details and you are done. Another good thing about Readello in terms of synchronizing is that you control the age of the feed items.

The only downside is that Readello is not free and costs $3.99. However, according to the developer, the company plans to update Readello on a regular basis and thus possible glitches should be fixed quickly. To admit, I've been using Readello for a couple of hours now and I have not found any problems so far.

You can download Readello from the App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=306094870&mt=8

Since 1998 he has been releasing diamond-encrusted mobile phones. As for prices, they usually start from 30 grands. The 1.3 million dollar diamond phone was Mr. Aloisson's craft as well. Do you think 1.3 million is a limit?

Last year, Mr. Aloisson made a 52,000 Euro Nokia E90 Communicator. This time Mr. Aloisson tried his craft on Apple's wonder device. The iPhone was "customized" with solid 18-carat yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. The white gold line is encrusted with a total of 139 brilliant cut diamonds of the best quality. However, the best part was saved for the Home button. It features a rare 6.6-carat diamond. What about the price? It's just 1,790,000 Euros ($2.5 million). WOW!

Well, personally I don't much like such things, but I guess there are people out there who would not mind giving up big bucks for having an iPhone that glitters!

In a nutshell, this application uses iPhone's accelerometer to measure seismic data. The application is really easy to use. Just run it and put your iPhone on a table or any other surface. You can tap or slightly shake the surface and see the application in action. It actually measures and tracks seismic data.

The only downfall is that only 10 seconds of data is stored but as the developer mentions, this will be increased in the future releases. Moreover, you can submit the data to the developer website for future retrieval.

All in all, iSeismometer makes your iPhone even cooler toy and if you live in a seismically active part of the world, this iSeismometer is a must to have application. Moreover, iSeismometer is FREEWARE!

You can download it from this link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=304190739&mt=8
