I discovered Yvonne Poei-Yie Kwok after she took part in the Hyeres Festival presenting her

"Little Mary" collection, an amazing showcase of elaborated garments with a harlequin inspiration.

This 25 year old Dutch designer graduated at Amsterdam Fashion Institute, interned at Viktor&Rolf

and was selected finalist for best international collection at the London Graduate Fashion Week.

As you can see, her work is very detailed, with a lot of handwork and

reinterpretation of textures and shapes. If you want to see more check her website here,

she'll definitely be worth following up.

Some notes on the MET Gala 2013: From Chaos to Couture

The MET Gala this year has been a real disappointment, we need to thank for this to all the guests who paid a ridiculous amount of money for their invitations and obviated that the core of this gala is -or used to be- that it has a theme. Most celebrities nowadays proved they are that kind of friends you invite to a costume party and come dressed in their regular clothes saying that "they are disguised as themselves".

Also, we would need to thank those people who though punk means "just wear

studded accesories" and who thought couture was "wear a mini dress you look hot in".

I'd love to know what Vivienne Westwood thought surrounded by this crowd,

Franco-American designer Delphine Delafon launched her eponymous label in 2011 in Paris.

She departs from a very simple idea: she reworks the same model of bucket bag over and over again. However, never a bucket bag looked better, and you won't find 2 bags that look boringly the same:

mottled materials, animal print fabrics, leather, studs, fringes, or charms... You probably already

have this feeling you just want to collect them and never wear another kind of bag again.

It's incredible how Internet works. Even when you're procrastinating at your most, scrolling websites and blogs, there's always a potential treasure to be found even if you think you're just wasting your afternoon.

This is how I discovered Satine, browsing my favourite Fashiolista users I saw this Las Vegas cuff, so suitable at a moment when everybody's all about Coachella and you just feel like leaving everything and driving a Cadillac to the next grim hostel. This leather cuff felt like the perfect accesory for the journey.

The creator behind this original pieces is Marie Lapaire. She created Satine when she returned from her trips all over the world. Satine is a jewelry brand in which such a raw material as leather is tamed and transformed into very feminine pieces, all handmade in their studio in Paris. Celebrities such as Ashley Greene have already discovered and fallen in love with the brand.

Even though they are really affordable and have all kind of jewelry- the bib necklaces of their new collection are great- my favourite pieces are still the cuffs (you can spot a pattern given my current obsession with leather cuffs). Black dresses are a staple in most women's wardrobes. But why are they so popular? Well. They're simple, versatile and most of the time, classy (one of teh exceptions being Liz Hurley in that black Versace dress, although arguably, it put her on the map).

The Little Black Dress

Most women own a little black dress (LBD). Black is a very flattering colour and there are so many stules out there to choose from. Whatever your figure, you are certain to find one which suits your shape. For those who want to cover up, opt for longer lengths and modest necklines. If your arms are wobbly, choose dressed with sleeves or wear a jacket. If you want to flash a bit more flesh, take the hem above the knee or plunge the neckline. Don't do both though - too much flesh on show isn't flattering on anyone.

For the very daring, body con, cut outs and mesh panelling are all just itching to be explored. But easy tiger; pick your LBD carefully as it will probably be with you for a while. Because it's timeless, any woman of any age can wear one. A slight tweak here or there and your LBD is suitable for your Gran.

The best thing about little black dresses is that you can wear them more than once. No one will notice if you wear it several times in a row. At the end of the day, it's just a black dress, right? Use accesories to adapt the outfit depending on the event; use shawls, necklaces, bags or shoes to add a touch of colour. You could also add a string of pearls for a really glamorous Audrey Hepburn style, or go all alternative and dig out your red converse. You'll look like you splashed a new outfit every time.

Work to Play

It's Friday and you're planning on hitting happy hour after work with your colleagues. You want to be smart for work, because of course, you're a professional. But you also want to be comfortable once you're shoehorned into that overheated, packed out pub your boss loves so much. Why not wear a crips white shirt under your LBD? Add some opaque's in the winter months. Then once you're in the pub, make your excuses, whip off your shirt and tights and hey prestp - you're ready to party.

So whether you're hitting a club or doing a presentation at work, there's a huge selection of black dresses out there for a number of different occasions. Just steer clear of safety pins.

We all have to suffer the embarrasment of showing that gritty unflattering picture on our passport.
