Robin Williams in 'Back to Neverland: Walt Disney's MGM tour video'

2014-08-15T08:22:00.000-07:00

Back when Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios was called MGM Studios, Robin Williams did a tour video explaining the Animation department to guests attending the park.

It's a fun piece that not many people have seen.

Check it out!

This explains Genie's outfit in Aladdin.

The text reads:
“We're deeply saddened by the loss of Robin Williams, a wonderfully gifted man who touched our hearts and never failed to make us laugh. An incredible actor and a comedic genius, Robin will always be remembered for bringing some of the world’s favorite characters to life, from his zany alien on ABC’s Mork & Mindy to the irascible genie in Disney’s Aladdin. He was a true Disney Legend, a beloved member of our family, and he will be sorely missed. We join Robin’s friends and fans everywhere in mourning, and offer our thoughts and condolences to his family during this difficult time. – Robert A. Unfinished Documentary About Unfinished Nicolas Cage Superman Movie TRAILER

2014-07-25T09:56:00.000-07:00

Some things in Hollywood will never be forgotten, even if they were never made.

Nicolas Cage as Superman, directed by Tim Burton, written by Kevin Smith is one of those things.

Take a look at this trailer for the Unfinished Documentary about the making of 'Superman Lives' called 'The Death of Superman Lives'

Goes to show you that not every idea is gold. Also, not even Hollywood money can save a film.

Quentin Tarantino Believes Digital Projection is the Death of Cinema.

2014-05-24T10:16:00.002-07:00

In some ways Quentin Tarantino is correct about the way we now display films in a public forum. But, as a populations, we've come to expect crystal clear films at home and "we" want the same when we pay $10 or more at a Theatre.

Do you think Cinema is dead?
I know that the desire to rush to a theatre to see a film has dimmed in my own personal life. I find, more and more that I say, I'll wait for to come to Netflix.

Most people I know don't even buy DVD's or Blu-rays anymore. Now, that's not the case with me, I love owning a film for my collection. But, again, even that love has slimmed. Maybe it's just that films aren't that exciting anymore? Maybe I don't see the same public push for gritty films like 'Pulp Fiction' had. Tarantino has a knack for making people want to see his films and that isn't the case with most directors.

I notice more and more that the same types of films are released in a theatrical setting and I rarely have friends who will go to see anything at a movie theatre. I miss it. I miss the sound of the 35mm film projector spinning at the back of the theatre. I miss the anticipation to see a film. I don't think we will ever get that back and maybe a lot of that has to do with how quickly film studios are able to put a film in a cinema and then crank it out on DVD, On-Demand and Blu-ray across the world.

I don't think film is dead. I just think creativity is stifled by how quickly the audience can buy or ignore a new film. If digital projection wouldn't have become the social norm, maybe then there would still be a desire to go see a movie in a theatre?

Terrific short film called 'First Kiss'

2014-03-11T09:32:00.000-07:00

Kissing someone for the first time can be awkward, exciting, nerve wracking and wonderful all at the same time.

In this short film, director Tatia Pilieva asks a few random strangers to kiss for the first time. What happens is both funny and beautiful.

Seeing people react before the kiss and after is quite amazing.

George Takei's Letter to Arizona regarding "Turn Away Gay" Bill

2014-02-23T09:06:00.000-08:00

George Takei is amazing. He has taken it upon himself to be a voice for the LGBTQ community by writing an eloquent and passionate letter to the state of Arizona.

Title:
RAZING ARIZONA

“Dear Arizona,

Congratulations. You are now the first state actually to pass a bill permitting businesses–even those open to the public–to refuse to provide service to LGBT people based on an individual’s “sincerely held religious belief.” This “turn away the gay” bill enshrines discrimination into the law. Your taxi drivers can refuse to carry us. Your hotels can refuse to house us. And your restaurants can refuse to serve us.

Kansas tried to pass a similar law, but had the good sense to not let it come up for a vote. The quashing came only after the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and other traditional conservative groups came out strongly against the bill.

But not you, Arizona. You’re willing to ostracize and marginalize LGBT people to score political points with the extreme right of the Republican Party. You say this bill protects “religious freedom,” but no one is fooled. When I was younger, people used “God’s Will” as a reason to keep the races separate, too. Make no mistake, this is the new segregation, yours is a Jim Crow law, and you are about to make yourself ground zero.

This bill also saddens me deeply. Brad and I have strong ties to Arizona. Brad was born in Phoenix, and we vacation in Show Low. We have close friends and relatives in the state and spend weeks there annually. We even attended the Fourth of July Parade in Show Low in 2012, looking like a pair of Arizona ranchers.

The law is breathtaking in its scope. It gives bigotry against us gays and lesbians a powerful and unprecedented weapon. But your mean-spirited representatives and senators know this. They also know that it is going to be struck down eventually by the courts. But they passed it anyway, just to make their hateful opinion of us crystal clear.

So let me make mine just as clear. If your Governor Jan Brewer signs this repugnant bill into law, make no mistake. We will not come. We will not spend. And we will urge everyone we know–from large corporations to small families on vacation–to boycott. Because you don’t deserve our dollars. Not one red cent.

And maybe you just never learn. In 1989, you voted down recognition of the Martin Luther King holiday, and as a result, conventions and tourists boycotted the state, and the NFL moved the Superbowl to Pasadena. That was a $500 million mistake.

So if our appeals to equality, fairness, and our basic right to live in a civil society without doors being slammed in our face for being who we are don’t move you, I’ll bet a big hit to your pocketbook and state coffers will.

George Takei”

'Weekend at Bernie's' talent sue MGM & FOX for back compensation

2014-01-24T19:07:00.000-08:00

It's obvious that in Hollywood, people will scam you out of money any way they can.

Who doesn't remember the 80's comedy 'Weekend at Bernie's'? For those of you too young, the story goes like this. Rich boss guy dies, a guy at his office and his bumbling friend find him dead. They proceed to spend the summer on an island pretending the guy is not dead. Meanwhile a hitman is trying to kill them. Just a normal summer.
That's it in a nutshell.

Robert Klane (screenwriter) and Ted Kotcheff (director) have filed a lawsuit in L.A. superior court demanding back pay of residuals for the 1988 comedy 'Weekend at Bernie's".

The film has made over $30 million in gross and $16 million in actual revenue from the distribution.

Sounds to me like Klane and Kotcheff are owed some money. Maybe MGM or FOX will have to pay up soon.

To refresh your memory.

Here's the Leaked Quentin Tarantino script 'Hateful Eight'!

2014-01-24T12:11:00.001-08:00

He gives the script to "6 motherfucking people" and one of them either sent it to a friend or someone in their circle of people took it. Either way, he gave up on the idea of making the film now that it's out there for everyone to read.

The Wrap describes the script:

The script is an ensemble Western with obvious parts for Madsen and Dern, as well as Tarantino stalwarts like Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. Jackson and Madsen would likely both play bounty hunters returning human plunder to a town called Red Rock in exchange for hefty rewards.

Their characters, a former major in the Union army and a man named John Ruth, dominate the first two of the script's five chapters. They run into a Southerner named Chris Mannix on the road, and three of them, along with their driver — a living prisoner and three dead bounties strapped to the roof — arrive at a haberdashery to take shelter from an oncoming blizzard. Yet the proprietors, Minnie, Sweet Dave and her other colleagues, are nowhere to be found. In their place are four men, a Southern general (likely Dern), an alleged hangman, a Frenchman named Bob and a cowboy named Joe Gage. Mistrust, coffee and violence ensue.

UPDATE:

They removed the link to the script. Not sure how you can get it anymore. I'll let you know if you want it. Maybe it is being emailed around. Comment or email me directly and I'll get back to you!

Penelope Cruz's Directorial Debut!

2013-08-03T15:49:00.000-07:00

Penelope Cruz made her directorial debut with this 5-minute short film for Agent Provocateur. The commercial is promoting L’Agent, the lingerie line she designed with her sister Monica Cruz.

It's your usual Agent Provocateur advertisement. Beautiful woman, scantily clad. There just seems to be a lot more Ass in this video then normal. Granted, this is promoting the new line she has, so I guess that means there is a lot more Ass featured items in the collection. Good for her and her sister.

The video is cool. But then there is that messed up point where a Homeless looking Javier Bardem shows up and ruins everything. Way to cockblock, bro. :/

Overall it's a good piece. Interested in seeing what else she chooses to do in the future.

This gives me the chance to share my favorite Agent Provocateur commercial.
It features Kylie Minogue.
Enjoy.

Watch the Cast & Crew of 'The Conjuring' in the BTS Footage!!!

2013-07-27T11:37:00.000-07:00

Excellent Behind the Scenes footage from "The Conjuring". I love watching unfiltered BTS and this is some of the best footage I've seen.

Here is an interview with Director James Wan.

I love seeing all the professionals working at the highest level. This crew is amazing. I do believe that aspiring actors should pay close attention to how "in-the-moment" the actors are on this film. Even when they run off camera they are still in it! That is how it's done.
Amazing footage to watch!

Marion Cotillard also seemed to enjoy the pose, look in the background at her laughing.

Tilda Swinton Sleeps in a Glass Box at MoMA

2013-03-24T21:53:00.001-07:00

Actress Tilda Swinton, best known for her Oscar winning role in Michael Clayton (2008) or my favorite, her role as Gabriel in Constantine, has now taken to performance art of some kind.

In New York City, at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), people may randomly stumble upon Swinton sleeping in a glass box in the middle of a room. (check out the photos below), The Huffington Post reports.

She has been performing her art in cities across the world since 1995. Though you can not find a listing for it anywhere. There are no scheduled times and No information about the art, other than what is written on the outside of the box as an explanation for the work.

Basically, Tilda strolls into MoMA whenever she wants, gets in her box and sleeps. That's it.

Maybe she just has a hard time sleeping alone?

The OSCARS Worst Opening Number

2013-03-04T21:56:00.000-08:00

The Hollywood Reporter is digging deep into the past and catching up with Eileen Bowman, an actress who, in 1989, played Snow White opposite post-sex scandal Rob Lowe, in one of the most disastrous Oscars musical numbers of all time.

It was an especially interesting read for me, since I really didn't remember this number at all. But I’m including the longest video of it I could find. It is horrible.

I guarantee you will both be glad you watched it and loathe me for watching it at the same time. It goes without saying, but there was a lot of cocaine going around in the late eighties.

Now let's flashback to March 29, 1989!!!!

From the article in THR

The campy live number, arranged and conducted by Marvin Hamlisch, was as over-the-top as the man who masterminded it, Grease producer Allan Carr, a bombastic Hollywood oddball famed for wearing caftans and hosting debauched parties at his disco-equipped house in Benedict Canyon. (That residence, Hilhaven Lodge, is the current home of Brett Ratner, leading some to joke that the place is cursed, at least where producing the Oscars is concerned.

Carr was uniformly shunned at industry canteen Morton’s the following day. Disney, which then had no stake in ABC, was furious over the unauthorized use of its copyrighted version of Snow White and filed a lawsuit against the Academy. And 17 Hollywood heavyweights — among them Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Julie Andrews and Billy Wilder — signed an open letter deriding the telecast as “an embarrassment to both the Academy and the entire motion picture industry.”

[Bowman, during the audition process] Our first stop was Allan Carr’s house. I remember his swimming pool had pink water in it. He had a 30-foot Oscar outside his door and auditioned us in a robe.

The other girl and I looked at each other thinking, “What is happening?”

My dress was bought for $23,000 by someone involved with the production who was buried in it. It was a man. I’m leaving it at that. [The next day after the Oscars] My phone never stopped ringing. It was awful. All I can say is what Rob Lowe said, “Never trust a man in a caftan.”

HILARIOUS '80's HELLRAISER' commercial

2013-03-04T11:34:00.002-08:00

Oh the 80's.

Nothing says Hellraiser like a satin jacket, sweatpants, or a thermos.

This restored commercial clip, which appeared at the beginning and end of the movie in the first 1987 release of Hellraiser on VHS and Betamax, offered fans a chance to buy Hellraiser swag.

It spoofed popular infomercials and featured a helpful introduction from a crazy cat lady, who along with her clearly stuffed feline friend, was about to pop a “new watch and wear” video into the old VCR.

Sorry fans, the commercial offer expired in 1989, but check out the full video to see what happened to the cat lady after Hellraiser entered her life. It’s super clever, filled with terrible puns, really silly, and makes me wish everything still looked like this.
