Here’s the real deal on my Naked Palette affair.

I was at Sephora a few ago and I happened to come across the incredibly cute Tokidoki Sodashop palette with sweet heart shades that swatches so smoothly. I liked what I saw and bought it on impulse and I felt truly that this was going to be my new most reached for palette. Unfortunately, using it at home left my eyes red and itchy and I had no choice but to return it. Eye shadows rarely cause such an allergic reaction for me!

I walked around Sephora a few times and decided that there wasn’t quite anything I wanted to try out except for this little Naked Palette that is owned by the entire universe and I was like “ oh boy, you are so slowwwwwww to get this"…Before I could even end the debate going on in my head, I had purchased this palette and shoved the sexy beast into my bag.

So I really got to thank soda shop for this accidental affair. Horribly late but so worth the wait….

Skin79's Simple Touch Eyeliner

Skin79's Simple Touch Eyeliner is now my dollywink liquid eyeliner replacement. Simply due to the fact that the tip is fine and ultra easy to work with. I think newbies would have no problem working a gorgeous cat eye, a simply dolly eye look or a strong korean dark eyeliner look with this amazing eyeliner.

I really love the fact that it’s such a buildable eyeliner pen and it offers somewhat more control due to the fine and firm pen tip. You can vary the thickness of the liner because of the thin pen tip which is very important in my opinion. The only minor issue I seem to have is with the blue stain it leaves after I remove my eye makeup. I remember the 24 hour tattoo eyeliner leaving a similar stain.

Overall, I think Skin79 simple touch eyeliner is so easy to use. I can draw on a variety on eyeliner looks so I recommend it!

Lighter Hair

Hi beauties,
I would have posted earlier but I have been a busy bee!

As you can see from the picture above, I dyed my hair!!!

But I had to get it redone at a salon. Boo Hoo Hoo.

All I wanted was to have Ulzzang Moon Danbi hair color ( something similar to the picture above). Unfortunately for me, one box of hair dye was far too little and I had blocks of black and golden brown as well as blonde streaks all over my head. My hubby actually helped me and he kept telling me that even though he managed to cover my whole head, the dye was really thinly spread and this was going to be a bad hair job!

My hair ended up looking real bad –>

Also, it was my first attempt lightening my hair with bleach and I simply sucked at it! I really wish I had just made the trip down to the salon in the first place but I abhor waiting for hours on end in the salon. I used Palty’s hair dye and I must say it’s a pretty good hair bleach ( even though they are pretty stingy with the amount compared to Revlon) but I was wondering why my hair was turning orange after a few washes!!! I used the golden brown shade btw. Long story short, I'm no pro at handling hair bleach so I shall try to leave it to a professional in future should I have the crazy urge to go light ! Well, I kinda needed to visit a hairdresser anyways to get rid of the dead fried ends so I ended up opting for a darker ash brown shade to cover all the blotchy & faded highlighted parts.

I’m not particularly excited about the darker shade but I have to go darker to even out all the crazy color tones. Now I just have to focus on leaving my hair alone to prep it for a future color changes! Arghh…

I also have a cosmetic confession to make. I finally got my NAKED Palette. I got the original one because I liked the shades more. I’m such a laggard but I absolutely love it.

Skin79 Vital Beblesh Balm SPF 50+ PA+++

I’ll be really honest here, sometime last year I think, I found out about skin79’s BB line from the beautiful Eki’s blog and I didn’t pay it much attention then because my first and only experience with BB Cream was with Hanskin and it made me break out!

Well, I think it isn’t quite fair to my readers and BB Cream users for me to just say NO to reviewing BB Creams just because my skin type didn’t quite suit it. Moreover, I was more willing to test out this newly launched BB Balm as it contains SPF 50+ which sounds pretty darn good to me.

Aesthetics wise, I think the orange packaging looks expensive and pretty. Practicality wise, I’m not totally in love with the dispenser because it gets dirty quite quickly and I can’t just throw it into my bag to bring out.

One pump dispenses just enough product for me as I only need more coverage under my eyes and at certain spots. Since I’m not a regular BB cream user, I was a little surprised by the ashy color it initially gave off but I waited it out and it blended into my skin after 20-30 mins. Also, upon testing it on my skin, I was immediately impressed by the coverage. This BB Balm covers everything. Also, it claims to whitens and aid in wrinkle improvement ( Ingredients list right below!)

Can’t believe I’m showing you guys a close up of my skin but here goes. This is the left side of my face and I am wearing a layer of Skin79 Vital Beblesh Balm. The BB Balm can be very thick if you use to much. The key to making it work, is to use a little and spread it quickly and evenly all over the face. Too much and it brings out any dents and looks really cakey. For me, it covered a few of my obvious childhood scars by 60% but they have been with me since young so that’s considered excellent coverage to me. I must warn you again though, using less will get you a more porcelain look. You can always go over imperfections with more BB cream and a light hand.

Overall, I did experience a little reaction to the BB Balm on my nose area but it went away after a few uses. I like to use this BB Balm around my eye region because of the high SPF and for the fact that it isn’t drying. I do feel that the consistency of this BB is rather thick, so a little goes a long way and I highly recommend this for BB Cream lovers with drier, non sensitive skin types. I personally think the coverage on this is excellent.

Hello Lovelies,

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. My little toddler has finally made the transition to sleeping only once a day and I swear, I literally have no time to breathe. By the time I cater to all his needs and get ready for work, it’s time to zip out the door. Really I’ve not worked this hard for some time. I’m still adjusting to the increased work load and having a really really active toddler.

Truly amazing liner. Enough said about it.

2) Shu Uemura UV Fluid ( I switched over from CD because it was a little too drying for my skin but that has to the best alternative to SU UV Fluid)

I’ve been using this since I was 18 or 19. It has never broken me out and now that my skin is drier, I like how it seems to have a hydrating effect as well.

3) Shu Uemura Curler

I get one every few years and every time I try a different brand, I always end up regretting it and switching right back to this awesome curler.

4) Esprique Precious Dual Gradation Eyes D2

The texture of these eye shadows are so smooth, so soft and the pigmentation is just right. I reach for this palette more than I like to admit and it makes my eyes sparkle when I use it. The earthy shades make it super practical too. I love this.

5) Lioele Magic Lip Treatment

I use this on an almost daily basis now. My Lips look pink and I suffer from less flaky lips. It’s pretty magical.

6) Kate Volume Gel Mascara

I have yet to do a review on this mascara but I assure you, this mascara holds a curl, doesn’t flake, keeps lashes black and soft. It doesn’t smudge easily too which is very important in this hot climate.

7) Peripera Wonder Talk Lip Balm

Moisturising, adorable and well tinted lip balm. I love this. The packaging is too cute to miss!

8) Essence Stay with me long lasting lip gloss

U have to try this lip gloss. Super affordable and wonderful.

9) Rimmel Color Show Off Lipstick

My Ultimate choice for pigmented matte lip sticks. The color range is young and vibrant.

10) Dolly Wink False Eyelashes

Expensive but the best quality and most awesome looking lashes IMHO. No. 5 real nude is the absolute best looking and wearing bottom lashes.

whoa, after running through my list, I realised that my Japanese and Korean Cosmetics obsession has started from a really young age. Quality cosmetics is so important!

Lemme see, Nic Nic says that I have to list 7 things about myself too!

7 Things About Me!

1) I love chocolate. I am a serious chocoholic.

2) I love my iphone. I was one of those who resisted it when it initially came out but now I’m absolutely lost without it. Plus it takes really flattering shots with cool photo editing apps. I wish I looked like this when I roll out of bed !!

3) I like decorating. I find it therapeutic to buy home ware and fill a space up with it.

4) I lived in Munich in 2007. I stayed there for an entire year and travelled to Portugal, Rome, Paris, Istanbul and Prague. My favorite place in the world is Rome and I want to revisit again !!! The works of art, the pizza and the gelato is heaven for me.

5) I was a socially awkward kid. I didn’t like school from a young age and would take any opportunity to skip school. As such, I didn’t know how to get along with kids my age because I was constantly surrounded by older people at home. I said and did weird things as a child and didn’t know how to communicate with people. I felt rather isolated and out of place most of the time but my hubby really helped bring me out of my shell.

6) Fact no.5 leads to this fact. No guy I liked when I was young liked me back. I was a ugly child. Hahaha

7) Last but not least, for all you ugly ducklings out there, never fear, my hubby liked me for who I was and we’ve been together for almost 14 years now:) I followed my heart and it lead me to my soulmate :)

Hyuna Trouble Maker Inspired Makeup

I look like I’m chewing off my finger but really I’m just trying to copy Hyuna’s trademark troublemaker pose:P Her looks and the way she moves in the Troublemaker MV makes her an absolute dead ringer for Lee Hyori. The beat is so catchy and thank goodness for Hyunseung’s vocals . Hyuna’s image was so spot on. Her makeup was very seductive and sex kittenish. She had bed hair, big soft curls and her outfits were tight, short and sexy. Well, she’s got to make up for her lack of vocal prowess!

I did 2 Troublemaker Inspired Looks. One was a lightly smokey rimmed eye look with sparkly pink lips and another was a more seductive look with heavier eyeliner and red tinted glossy lips. My hair did not want to corporate with me so I must apologise for the crazy hair.

Here’s the first look:

I’ve put a picture of all the makeup items I used for both looks. Essentially, I was also testing out a new sponsored Super + Beblesh Balm and eyeliner pen by skin79. I can’t wear bb creams but I used it for my t zone and under eyes in this look. I think the coverage is excellent and I will be putting up a review soon. I may not be able to wear bb creams due to my skin type but I understand that a lot of my readers love to use bb creams.

Things I used:

Essence Eyebrow Pencil and I LUV ROCK Glam Black Pencil Liner

Skin 79 Super BB Cream + Pen Liner

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eyeshadow in Grey Pink ( used the lightest shade for all over lid highlight)

Castledew ( Blacks and Browns to emphasis shadows) and Majolica Majorca Eyeshadow for added sparkle at inner corners of eyes

Hyuna’s second and more seductive look. Hyun seung’s makeup looked pretty flawless too. He definitely has some foundation or BB cream on and his eyes were well groomed and lightly rimmed. It matches well with Hyuna’s overall sex kitten image. For this look I merely enhanced the eyeliner and black eyeshadow as well as adding CLIO’s Red Lip Balm for a just been kissed look.

My right cheek is a little red cause I was over zealous with an exfoliator. Sigh. Thank goddness it didn’t scar! argh… I’m just waiting for my skin to heal and become less red.

Shobi Hair Wig Review

I shop pretty quickly nowadays and I happened to pick this hair wig up as a rather impulse buy. I was thinking it would be perfect to extend my hair and anyways it was synthetic, long and straight. It’s my first time trying on hair clip extensions so I was pretty excited to check it out!

There are some simple rules on how to take care of this hair wig extension piece. Don’t brush it roughly, no hot irons and no rough handling in general. I combed it very lightly with a hair brush and even then quite a bit of hair fell out.

I like the strands – soft and fine but really easy to tangle. I’m going to use this for my Hyuna Trouble Maker Inspired look.

I like the color of the hair piece and as you can see, it’s the lightest and longest one on my head. It’s 45cm long and I ‘m really itching to try the curly longer hair extension. Application is easy as there’s just 3 hair clips to attach on but I found it a little too big for my head. At 34 cm, I find it stretches a little too wide but I just tried my best to make it work.

I was watching some hair care advice online when it comes to hair wig clip ons and they usually advice not to keep on clipping this onto the same spot or it can lead to a bald spot!

Have you used any great clip on hair extensions???

Revlon Just Bitten & Essence I LUV Rock Gloss Eye Pencil Black Review

Guess what? I met up with the very pretty Blair who was in town last week and we had a cute meet up. She’s tall, slim and super sweet which left me wondering why she doesn’t show her face more often on her blog. haha. I felt really short and midget like next to her.

Moving on, I happened to be testing out the new Essence I ROCK Gloss Eye Pencil when I met Ms Blair and yes it’s black as soot and it works quite well for such an affordable eye pencil. There are more expensive drugstore pencils that don’t even work half as well ! A quick word of caution though, this is a jet black kohl pencil so it’s best to use an eye primer and set it with black eye shadow. It will smudge on the under eye area but it’s quite manageable. Simply remove with a little foundation or concealor.

Essence Gloss Eye Pencil is truly a rich black that has a sheen to it and I would definitely recommend this to those of you who love MAC’s Feline or Smolder as it’s an affordable dupe. Feline smudges way more than this gloss eye pencil and is much harder to remove.

Another product I happened to be wearing while out with Blair for the first time was Revlon Just Bitten in Passion and I must say I don’t fancy it at all. It’s pretty new in Watsons and there’s a decent range of color but I still don’t like this particular product from them. ??

Why I don’t like it:

a) Revlon’s Just Bitten Lip Stain’s packaging is the worst thing ever. Upon opening the balm end, the entire lip balm section dislodged from middle section and the stain tube contained in the middle section fell out onto my marble floor. Horrific. A big hot mess.

I have butter fingers and the lip balm end of Revlon’s lip stain really brings out the worse in me. The lip balm end kind of sticks out when you open the tube. I’m used to lip balms being encased fully when you keep them but this one happens to be partially exposed. You have to be very careful when you close the it or it will end up like the picture below. I guarantee it.

I don’t have a before picture to show you the original packaging. Sorry! The point I am trying to make is that the lip balm end is an epic fail to me.

b) When I swatched it on my hand, it looked like a lovely sweet pink. On my lips it appeared really dark and almost candy apple like. I’m a little confused at the color difference.

c) It makes my lip color darker upon removal. I suspect it’s due to the fact that the stain is drying and causes the skin on my lips to be dry and scaly.

Why I like it:

a) The lasting power of the stain is terrific. It last 4-6 hours.

b) Application is easy.

I really wanted to like Revlon’s Just Bitten because it’s quite a neat lip stain/balm concept. I’m digging the whole lip stain trend at the moment because it means color without any sticky gloss on the lips. A pity the packaging isn’t up to standard and the lip balm end is a total fail – if it doesn’t fall out, it’s sure to break because it’s just jutting out. Overall, I won’t be repurchasing and I’m somewhat relieved that I got this on sale.

On a hair front, I did dye my hair a strawberry blonde a month back because I do want lighter hair. I’m not a black hair sort of girl and my hair is rather dry and damaged from the bleach highlights and the dying. I have to slather argan oil, LUSH’s Marilyn and hair oils on a regular basis just to smoothen it out. Arghh.. I love lighter hair but I hate the toil it takes on my long hair :P

Any other products you’d recommend for frequently dyed hair?

Canmake Falsies No.11

Yes, I was obviously lured in by the cute packaging but I’ll always be a sucker like that. I’ve never tried canmake lashes before but I thought this might be a good first try plus I really liked the idea of the lashes being thicker in the center and thinner at the corners.

Firstly, the lash band is very rigid. This might be a good thing for beginners or those who have problems with soft lash bands but personally, I feel it could be a bit softer. Reason being that it does not conform to the shape of my lash line easily. That’s so strange. I’ve not had to work so hard to have any other falsies fit my lashes.

Secondly, I think these Canmake no.11 lashes are for the Gyaru, Japanese makeup style lovers or clubbers. I don’t think you could wear this to school, work or even out with friends unless you are one of the above mentioned. You need to have on full eye makeup to pull off these lashes and I personally think bottom lashes would give a definite doll or gyaru look too. Totally attention grabbing!

Thirdly, it feels freaking heavy and a tad bit uncomfortable.

Avene Sunblock

Seriously , I discovered Avene’s Sunblock while hunting for one to replace my Dr Secrets and also to use on my boys. The sun is out and my mood is totally lifted and happy but the sun means I have to take extra care of my skin.

I love how it comes in a dispenser packaging and it retails for almost 40SGD I think for a measly 50ml. The sales lady guaranteed that this would be most suitable for highly sensitive skin and as I’ve used Avene’s thermal water and moisturisers before I decided to give it a go. It’s a white creamy consistency that sinks into the skin very easily. It can give a white cast if you use too much or don’t blend it into the skin properly.

I’ve used this sunblock to the beach in scorching sun and running around for work and I’m happy to say that:

- no breakouts

-no clogged pores

-no unpleasant smell ( although my hubby did tell me that it kinda stinks when he washes his face with water)

- very high SPF 50+

-Broad UVA and UVB protection

-hygienic and effective packaging

I love the formula of this sunblock, it’s very effective.

On the downside, I’m not happy about:

- a slightly mild stinging sensation at times upon application

- the tiny amount

- wish it came in a bigger packaging because I go through sun blocks very quickly and would love to use this on my body too. Oh well!

I am wearing only the sunblock on my face (no foundation except for concealor under eyes). You can tell that it doesn’t make me look oily or white or gross in anyway.

In conclusion, I really love this sunblock. It’s a little expensive for the amount but it doesn’t have a nasty white cast or smell funky or clog pores, so it’s truly a must have for this summer!

Goodbye 2011 !

2011 had tons of spills, falls and everything was like a real steep uphill battle for me personally. On the beauty front however, my skin behaved, didn’t flare up too much and I managed to put on my brows 70-80% of the time!

2012, I hope you’ll be a fantastic year !

My beauty resolutions for 2012:

1) Sunblock everyday – rain or shine

2) A facial mask every week –yogurt, honey and oats, avocado

3) Minimize frowning, squinting and lifting forehead

4) Dry brush my skin regularly

5) Keep updating myself on beauty tips and tricks

6) Be adventurous with my beauty looks

7) Worry less to keep a younger appearance

8) Keep up with the brows

9) Eye cream every night

10) Eat well for great skin

Christmas Gifts 2011 & Essence Haul

Isn’t Bun Bun adorable?

I was super thrilled to get Bun Bun as a birthday gift and yes I have gotten cute stares and “oh so cute” when I’m out on the phone. I love my iphone 4S case to bits but seem to have a little problem with holding it cause bunny girl is rather round! haha

Next present that I was obsessing over was Lush’s Wild Child Box containing:

Up You Gets Emotibomb – eww… this thing doesn’t have much smell in the shower. Not a fan of this crumbly mess.

25g Bubblegum Lip Scrub – Tastes exactly like sweet bubblegum. I love how soft it makes my lips feel and it isn’t too rough

100g Rock Star Soap – Hands down one of the absolute must have soaps from LUSH.

100g Happy Hippy Shower Gel – Interesting mellow citrus scented shower gel. The smell grows on me! I’m absolutely crazy over “it’s raining men” shower gel right now and am debating whether I should splurge on the big bottle that cost around50+ SGD.

100g Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly – Smells like Jelly, sweet old jelly. I haven’t had to a chance to use this yet but I can’t wait to try out this interesting jelly body wash

I think this box should be renamed Sweet Child. If you have a sweet tooth, this box of Lush goodies will have you hooked. The packaging is just amazingly cute with popcorn stuffing! hahaha

Just a few pictures of some of the Essence Cosmetics I hauled over the Christmas season. I’ll be doing a review soon and I also got the eyebrow pencil, eyebrow pencil and long lasting lip glosses that I like very much!

Okie, I hope to do a New Year’s Look soon. I’ve been busy being sick and trying to get some work done. Sigh. Holidays are such a reason to slack!

A Very Merry Christmas !

Christmas is a special time cause that’s when my side of the family really gets together. The usual scenario is that everyone is busy doing their own thing, so Christmas really gets us to stop whatever else we have planned and just spend some quality time with each other.

This year has been extra challenging for my family so coming together and enjoying each others company was truly a gift in itself :)

My makeup look for the Christmas Eve party. I took it on my iphone in the car at 8pm so pardon the dimness of the shot.I was nursing a really bad cold and dry cough on Christmas eve and I looked really puffy throughout last week because of my sickness. I thought I was going to look a mess on Christmas eve itself because I felt like crap but somehow managed to pull myself together within 20 minutes.

10 minutes to flat iron my hair and 10 minutes for my face. The best part of it all, I used a few new ESSENCE cosmetics (which I could only find in Munich 5 years ago which has finally landed in SINGAPORE!! YES!!!).

What I did to make me look less sick pale and yucky :-

After straightening my hair I love to spritz on Grumpy Girl’s Body Spray in Girly Girl. I have 6 different scents in my bathroom that I like to spritz on my body, clothes, hair everyday. I recently just sold some and gave away the body sprays as gifts and my friends love it! They like bringing it out with them for a quick spritz!

Then for my pale sickly face, I used some shu uemura uv fluid warmed between palms and applied under the eyes, nose and spots. Once that’s done, I used ESSENCE eyebrow designer in light brown to shape and fill my brows. OMG, this is such a keeper, my brows look so good and natural in this shade and application is easy. Then I took CLIO Professional Eye Love You Pencil in Khaki Grey no.17 and lined the outer 1/3 of our upper and lower lash after which I curled and applied my current mascara love – KATE Volume Gel Mascara. If you are wondering what’s making my lips so glossy and full looking, it’s the ESSENCE Stay with me long lasting lipgloss 01 Me & My Ice Cream ( my new HG baby pink lipgloss ).

OMG, I am IN LOVE WITH ESSENCE. Their lip products are da bomb! I’ve just discovered them at a Watsons near my home and I’ve bought around 25 items already! I even gifted my mom and sister with their lip glosses and nail polish. Truly, you have to check this brand out. It was only available in Munich and I could find it at any drugstore the last time I was living there. Yes, I’ll be doing a review on a lot of the items I got too :)

Sparkly Christmas Eye Look with MAC’s Reflects Blue Glitter

Yes, it’s the best time of year for glitter! Lots and lots of it.

For this Christmas look, I basically shaded in my crease with a black and brown eyeshadow color and liquid lined my eye with MAC feline in the water line. Also, I popped on the decorative eyelashes that I reviewed in my earlier entry (I like the shape of the lash but I find that the lash band doesn’t maintain it’s shape after one or two wears).

Christmas might have come a little early for me this year because I got a new iphone 4S and now I can take more pictures of my makeup with it! The picture above and below were taken by my new iphone. Likey? I love the glitter and the picture quality is not that shabby for a phone !!!

My new obsession. Marilyn hair moisturiser by LUSH. A wicked smell combo of florals and musk. If they had this in a scent I would buy it. Damn. I’ll do a review on this soon though, but I had to have this after testing it out on my hair and absolutely loving the smell..

A little bit of history of why I even bought this product because I had no idea whatsoever that a product like this even existed. About a month ago I visited Far East Plaza to check out some Lioele products and I was super keen on the lip glosses that have been raved about on you tube land. Well, the sales girl was very very persuasive and sold me this lip treatment to make my lips naturally pinky and I was swayed . *sigh I’m weak at times* Anyways, I’ve used it for a month now and strange enough, it works.

As you can see my lips seem to have a darker tint on the top and the edges. It’s something I’ve been well too aware of ever since my hubby pointed it out when I was much younger. I’ve always thought that there’s no solution for my pigmented lips because it’s something I was born with. WRONG.

Well, you can see that the packaging is fab . Nothing cheap about it. Just classy looking. It comes in a twist up pen thingy and the essence is basically a white color substance that leaves a pink stain on lips after application. Apparently, the pink shade varies from person to person but whatever the case, its suppose to exfoliate and make the lips pink. I feel that this product has reduced the appearance of chapped flaky skin and miraculously lightened my top lip by 50%. I might be imagining things but I was looking through my recent pictures and paying attention to my pictures and noticed that my bare lips do not look as dark as before. The best part is that my lipsticks seem to look better on my lips as they aren’t darkened by my pigmented lips as much. It doesn’t taste yummy or disgusting but it’s tolerable and when it settles into my lips, I don’t feel a thing. I wear my lip glosses or lip sticks are per normal on top of it and even though I did not use it every day since I purchased it, it still worked for my lips.

Overall, an unexpected buy with pretty effective results. I recommend this for those who have dull, dark lip color and want a product to effectively lighten your lip color :)

~Decorative Eyelash~ for the Holidays

I’m a big Watsons fanatic especially since Watson’s getting really good at stocking a wider range of Japanese & Korean cosmetics that I luv.

I can never resist popping in while doing my weekend shopping and picked up these Decorative Eyelash brand that I’ve never seen before. What I like about them is how they are short at the front and gradually become longer towards the tail end. There are some criss cross lashes in between and I like the look of the lashes. They have a stiffer band and are surprisingly easy to apply. I like how light weight they feel. I don’t like it when I can feel the lashes on my eyes and worse when they are so heavy that they block my view.

I didn’t cut these lashes and really love the look of these lashes. It’s not crazy long or overly dramatic. Not bad at all! Gonna try out the other lashes from this brand. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find this lash type on the box so I really can’t tell you the number or name of these lash. All I know that it’s by Decorative Eyelash. Did I miss something on the box beauties??

~ Festive Mood ~

Hi Beauties!

My work productivity seems to be dropping and all I really feel like doing lately is cooking & spending time with family, thanks to the festive season and year end holidays!

Burps… hehehe

Anyway, here’s another festive look I cooked up in 15 minutes. I’m loving the more dramatic eye shadow looks lately. I just can’t get enough of gradient smokey eyes with lush reds, browns and golds and all sort of earthy lush colors. I’m in holiday land if you cannot already tell.

I used the coastal scents 26 color shadow blush combo palette & Too Faced Naked Eye palette for my eyes and Rimmel’s Color Show Off Lipstick in Tell No One for my lips.

On a very separate note, I really really love Adele’s makeup looks. I think she has such a sexy retro vibe and her makeup is always spot on. She also has such a gorgeous face. Damn as if her voice wasn’t awesome enough! This is my favourite video on achieving Adele’s sexy makeup look!

Reds & Gold At Year End

Warm reds, earthy browns and sparkly gold's are choice colors this time of year. I find warm reds when blended in with browns and golds to look fabulously festive and help to warm up the face in such gloomy, cold weather.

We don’t have 4 seasons in our tropical island but we’ve had one rainy day after another which is putting me in a wintery mood. I’ve rediscovered my coastal scents 26 color shadow blush combo palette and have been going crazy with the warm coppery red brown shades. I love it!

Hi Beauties,

I was happily surprised at your approval of MAC’s Russian Red. I was thinking it might be too bold but ur positive feedback has given me the courage to wear it. Most of the time I try to wear it out but I get a little nervous and start licking my lips quite a bit and it ends up looking like a red lip stain more than anything else. Thanks to u I’m definitely going to be more comfortable wearing Sassy Russian Red and hopefully rocking it!

Below are a few outfits I’ve worn the month of December 2011.

Just love deep berry lip shades. It’s not as loud as reds but equally sexy!

I’m wearing this new River Island skirt I picked up. It’s the perfect fit and oh so comfortable. I like the lace detailing and material. Pardon the fugly ankle guard. I know.. its major ugly but I can’t walk properly without it!

A casual outfit for town with my Jeffrey Campbell 99 wedges. I like how it elongates the silhouette but a word of caution to all you lovelies who want to get this pair of shoes, got to get a size bigger. The size I got seems a tiny bit tooo small because the sales girl assured me that it would definitely stretch. I still haven’t broken it in yet so I’m pretty confident it hasn’t stretch to it maximum potential currently. These shoes just look good with so many outfits and I’ve had ladies working in shoe shops asking me about my JC 99 wedges.

The sun is out today! Yea!

LUSH * It’s Raining Men & Color Supplement *

Let me say this before anything else. I love LUSH. They make products that smell so damn good, it’s sinful. I am a big fan of their products and love their silly you tube videos. I know lots of you are probably big lush fans too!

Well, being a LUSH fanatic, I was extremely excited about their reopening in Wisma Orchard just 2 days ago. I made my way down today with my little boy (he’s more manageable in town although he still hates me shopping) and entered LUSH. I knew I wanted the color supplement and I was looking at either the light yellow or light pink. What I did not expect however was to go home with Jackie Oats.

Here’s the thing for you Singaporean girls who want to go down to LUSH and find a thing or two. Their sales assistant don’t seem very informed and aware of the products to me. Not to sound arrogant or stuck up but I think I probably know quite a bit more about LUSH products than the 2 shop assistant that were assisting me. The assistants were very friendly and had good manners but overall product knowledge was severely lacking and most of the time my questions were met with some inaccurate delayed reply.

Seriously, I asked for light yellow and came home with JACKIE OATS. Jackie oats is meant for super light porcelain skin tones and I specifically remember telling the SA that I wanted the light yellow color supplement. I was pretty distracted because my little boy was getting fussy and did not check the color shade at the cashier and I threw away the receipt too ( that’s my own stupid fault but I was kinda busy). Sigh.

I really hope LUSH Singapore stumbles across this because I just want to let them know that they are awesome to open a shop right in the heart of town and to save the many Singaporean LUSH LOVERs the hassle of buying online. Also, they make the whole of wisma underground smell like flowers and candy. For that I absolutely love them. But, I really hope their staff is better informed on LUSH products so they can sell and give people the correct information on the products. I’m not peeved at the mistake, what I’m peeved about is that the sales assistant just don’ t seem to know the products. I certainly hope it’s just a teething issue but girls know what you want before entering and check your products before leaving.

I could have just had bad luck but I’m pretty sure the service staff at Lush need to buck up on their product knowledge.

** it’s raining men smells different from Honey I Washed The Kids Soap in the shower. In the bottle it kinda smells the same but I guess the formulation makes it smell different. My hubby likes “its raining men” and I like the oldie but goodie HIWTK. How about U?

I kinda like the smell of Happy Hippy Liquid Soap too. Smells so good…

Update: The staff at LUSH were very courteous and allowed me to exchange Jackie Oats for Dark Yellow Supplement color. I plan on giving this to a friend. LUSH products are moving fast.

5S & Tips for Healthy Youthful Skin

I think many of us have different skin issues at different stages in our lives. Currently, I’m worried about the fine lines under my eyes and some freckles that seem to always pop up when I am running around a lot outdoors.

I’ve been thinking really hard about what keeps skin young this whole week because Mr BlovetBeauty was saying that he had some lines popping up at the corners of his eyes and that instantly triggered the anti aging topic. The whole issue of anti aging skincare has suddenly become a hot topic and I’m determined to minimize the crows feet and fine lines with the 5s and some other healthy skin care tips in general.

The 5s are :-

1) Sunblock

A large % of wrinkles and age spots are from UVA & UVB rays. Just look at the side of your face that is exposed to the sun more. I used to take afternoon naps as a teen (without any sunblock) and my left side was always exposed to the sunlight that was shining into my room. As such, I’ve noticed a lot more freckles on my left cheek and had to concentrate a lot more whitening efforts around that area.

2) Stop Squinting

If you are short or long sighted and find that you are squinting to see things clearly, you need to wear glasses or contact lenses to prevent yourselves from squinting and forming premature lines or wrinkles.

Also, if you have a weird habit of squinting or frowning and doing repeated facial expressions, just know that it can also lead to premature lines or wrinkles.

3) Sunglasses

The skin around our eyes are about 10 times thinner than the skin on our face. As such the first signs of aging usually show up around the eye. When you wear sunglasses, you prevent yourself from squinting and offer some sort of protection from the sun.

This is something I’ve avoided from the longest time because I find it a hassle to put on glasses and take it off. Well, caring for our skin requires additional steps but it’s worth it in the long run!

4) Salmon

We need a good amount of quality fish oils to keep our skin plump and youthful. When you deprive your skin of good oils, it tends to leave your skin dry and wrinkly. Read my guest post on the effects of fish oil.

5) Skin Care Products

There are so many anti aging products on the market. In the past my focus was probably on whitening and brightening as well as blemish reduction products. Now, anti aging skin care products are going to be my new obsession. I don’t know of any great eye creams or anti wrinkle products just yet but this is an area I’m definitely going to invest in and share with you guys in future!

Other simple tips to keeping skin youthful & healthy:-

Physical:-

-Don’t Smoke

-Stay hydrated

-Get outdoors with a good sunblock

-Stay active

Mental:-

- Manage Stress

- Worry less

- Stay positive

Clio Professional has a sleek eyeliner range that promises no smudges, waterproof and long lasting makeup look. The most well known product from this line is probably the WaterProof Pen Liner Kill Black which is Lee Hyori’s favourite Makeup Accessory.

CLIO WATERPROOF PEN LINER KILL BLACK

CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner Kill Black Claims to:

1) Be beyond black

2) Not Smudge & is Waterproof

3) Extremely pliable brush

4) Easily Removable

This pen liner is the obvious star of the CLIO line and looks stunning on Lee Hyori’s gorgeous face. I remember doing a similar look and back then I had no idea that she used CLIO Waterproof Pen Liner.

I re-created the look once again with the waterproof pen liner and I must say I’ve never had any liquid liner photograph so beautifully. This is without any photoshop by the way. The black pigment reflects light and has a lovely shine to it. The shade of black is truly beyond black and very unique. I’ve not stumbled across any liquid liner that looks this fresh and black after it has set. I find the pen tip to be very fine and almost a little too pliable. It took me some time to get used to how soft the brush can be and how much more control I had to put into drawing the line as compared to my Dollywink Liquid Liner. Also, it is not 100% waterproof. If the liner isn’t freshly applied and has been on my lids for an hour or so, it tends to bleed\smudge less. When it is freshly applied and I accidentally rub on it or get water on it, it turns into a big black mess.

Personally, I love the intense color on this liner but the brush tip is too soft for my liking and it’s not waterproof which means that I’ll only use it if I know I’m staying indoors.

Waterproof Pen Liner Kill Black: SGD 22.90

WATERPROOF BRUSH LINER

I love this brush liner. I don’t really fancy Lee Hyori’s advertisement image for this brush liner but I think this liner has a pretty natural look and the brush tip somehow feels more manageable then the pen liner. This brush liner comes with a free mini mascara and is suppose to give a more natural appearance as compared to the pen liner. It’s pretty smudge proof but not 100% waterproof. I would say it’s less runny on contact with water since it isn’t as intense of a black but the shade is still very natural and flattering. The free mascara is a nice addition but once again I seem to have an issue with all of their waterproof claims – none of the review samples provided stays put after it has come into contact with water. That is perhaps the one factor that preventing me from going absolutely gaga over CLIO liners.

You can build up the intensity of the brush liner but as you can see the brush tip makes precise lining quite easy and it is very easily removed. Despite the fact that it’s not 100% waterproof, I still really recommend this brush liner!

Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black: 25.90SGD

GEL LINER & CAKE EYEBROW POT

Clio’s Gel Liner and Cake Eyebrow pot comes in a sleek pot, with an eyebrow and eyeliner brush. I choose a purple shade because I found the purple to be very sweet and complimentary for my skin tone. The pot is very cute – there’s an upper and bottom layer which I find to be very practical and useful. I have two products in one small pot which is very handy and to my surprise I actually love the eyebrow shade a lot. The eyebrow powder is very soft and can suit many different skin\brow hair types.

The one thing that I was quite surprised by was how hard the gel liner was. Usually gel liners are rather creamy and glide on smoothly. I literally had to scrape off the top layer of this gel liner to get some product onto the brush. Application can be a little hard because of this but I love the purple shade. I have not found a purple shade that looks as lovely as this on my eyes. It washes off very easily and is pretty smudge proof.

Gel Liner & Eyebrow Pot: 27.90SGD

WATERPROOF MASCARA KILL VOLUME

I realized that thus far into my review on CLIO Kill Black collection products, I haven’t mentioned anything much about the packaging. Since the Kill Black range is pretty straight laced and function orientated, the packaging reflects that. Mascara Kill Volume has the best looking packaging of the lot. It’s very sturdy sexy gold packaging and the brush is quite large. It packs on mascara very nicely on my lashes but it gets on my bottom lids because of the size.

Just look at the before and after pictures. It really pumps up the volume and it’s mighty black. It dries pretty fast after application and once again melts off my lashes upon contact with water. It would be my absolute HG mascara if not for the fact that its not 100% waterproof.

Absolutely fantastic for giving lashes dolly lash type volume and the black intensity is gorgeous. If you don’t mind non waterproof mascaras this is definitely a must try. It has some fragrance in it, so those of you who have sensitive eyes might want to test it out before purchasing.

Waterproof Mascara Kill Volume : 29.90 SGD

EYE LOVE YOU SHADOW PENCIL

The last Clio product in the Kill Black Collection is the Eye Love You Shadow Pencil that is dual function. You can use it as an eyeliner or an eye shadow pencil and it’s really smooth enough to work nicely as both. I got Eye love you in khaki gray and I’m interested in checking out the other colors. Comes with a really good sharpener.

Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Grey

You guys requested for a OOTD with Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Grey! I know there isn’t much going on except for my standard black dress and how I layered over for work. Yes, I am getting a mirror cut and fitted into my wardrobe so I hope my OOTD will look clearer and I sure hope it doesn’t dirty so easily ( yes I am so full of excuses).

*Runs a half size large, so we recommend ordering a half size down

So far, I haven’t had the time to take an OOTD with my JC 99 Wedges, but I did wear it and I got a few blisters after walking in them for 2 hours. I would say foxy is definitely the more comfortable of the pair but in terms of support the wedges are a super snug fit and grip well. But breaking it in is quite a pain. I was expecting Foxy to be really scary to walk in because of the heel height but the platform height helps to balance things out and I do feel like I’m walking on heels but I don’t feel wobbly or unstable.

I would not recommend buying foxy online unless you have already tried them in a store. Also, Foxy’s just enhance the feet so better get sexy toenails before stepping out in them! hehe

This was the soft brownish smokey look I did. I’m really thinking of dying my hair strawberry blonde. I’m wondering if ombre hair is the way to go or if it will just die out the moment I decide to dye my hair that style. Hair is just mind boggling business!
