I was sent 3 products from the Marc Anthony Dream Waves Amplifying Collection. I was pretty stoked because I have been itching to test out these products after seeing them in Watson’s.

The first product I want to talk about is the Beach Spray. This spray is suppose to create natural effortless, beach hair. Hydrolyzed silk and provitamin B5 help to add moisture and shine and most of all add volume to fine straight hair. What I like about this Beach Spray is that it contains UV protectors to to shield hair from the sun’s harmful rays. I spray this all over my dry hair for extra volume and a more beachy look. It doesn’t make my hair wavy but it does give extra volume.

I was also sent the Dream Waves Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner ( 250ml each, 19.90 SGD).

The Dream Waves Amplifying Shampoo makes my hair feel soft and moisturised. It doesn’t dry out my hair at all which I like. The scent is very pleasant and I find that my hair stays bouncy for a long time. Only drawback is that it is moisturizing which I’m not used to. I like my hair squeaky clean which isn’t always good because drying out the scalp causes dandruff.

My favourite product of all three. Dream Waves Amplifying Conditioner smells great. It conditions so damn well and my hair is silky smooth after use. I can say good bye to my grassy ends after using this product and combing my hair is a joy! No tugging, no spilt ends and no dryness especially since I dye my hair a lot. I highly recommend the Dream Waves Amplifying Conditioner. Amazing.

Have you guys tried the Marc Anthony New Dream Waves Amplifying Collection and what do you think of it? I have very fine hair, so I like the fact that the ingredients are meant to boost hair like mine but I wish it was a little less moisturizing due to personal preference.

Liese Jewel Pink

Hallo Lovelies,

I've tested out a very popular Liese Bubble Hair Color in Jewel Pink. I've reviewed platinum beige and antique red, so the steps are pretty straightforward & here's a quick review summary on the color result.

Firstly, I was expecting a lot more of a pinkish tone but I'm rather happy that the shade is still in the brown family and compatible to my skin tone.

I left it on for around 40 minutes and when I washed it off,my hair color looked the same, just a little richer. The color in pink brown is more subtle, darker but vibrant than the ashier colors I've tried. I think the color will not look very obvious if you already have lighter brownish hair but I do think that it's quite a flattering shade. It has a nice warm brown base to cover the orange in my hair for a short while. But the pink did not really show up in my hair.

Overall, I feel that my hair has become a little resistant to Liese Bubble Hair Dye. It didn't cover my roots that well. The color seemed to fade off in a matter of days and I noticed that regardless of the color I use, my hair eventually goes back to an orangey brown shade.

Saaf Super Hydrating Body Balm is really Luxurious. This balm is fit for a queen. Just look at the power packed ingredients list. Safflower Oil & Shea Butter are packed full of vitamins for the skin and I just adore how my skin feels. Feels great on ultra dry spots like my knees and elbows.

This product works like an moisturising barrier that helps restore suppleness to dry or prematurely aging skin. Hence, I’d recommend using this before sleeping on the driest part of your body.It absorbs pretty quickly and can be a little sticky but nothing overly greasy.

I highly recommend this product as it smells like a lightly scented garden and feels so comforting on my skin. Love this.

ORGANIC COMPLEXION BOOSTING SERUM

Normal/Oily Skin. Helps improve skin-tone & texture. Day & Night.

I personally had a little reaction to this serum. It actually felt moisturizing and lovely on my skin but I discovered a few spot at the end of the day. I suspect that this serum may be a little too rich for my skin type but may be suitable for drier skin type.

Lose the Post Pregnancy weight

Hallo Darlings,

I know this is probably long overdue but I've decided to finally record how I lost my post pregnancy weight.

A quick disclaimer before I continue :-
I do not think that I am ultra slim or skinny. I am merely stating what I did to lose the post pregnancy weight. Hopefully it helps other mommies who have a similar body shape to mine.

I have a moderate metabolism and I usually gain weight during periods when I am inactive or before that time of month. Also, I bulk very easily with exercise so I got to be careful to avoid weight training or I start looking like a guy! I've always had hips and boobs and they are stuck for life! Pre pregnancy I weighed 51kg and on My delivery date I was 72-73kg. Yup, I gained a whopping 22kg during my pregnancy almost 3 years ago. I went back to 51-52kg almost 2 years after my pregnancy.

How I lost 22kg of baby weight :-

1) Firstly, I had a strict confinement.

I did post natal massages, ate a diet of fish, veggies and rice accompanied with strict portion control. The confinement diet lasted a good 6 weeks and I lost 7/8 kgs in that time.

2) I breastfed.

I was one of those obsessive new mommies who wanted my child to have the best of everything and since breast milk is the best milk, I was very hardworking for 18 months! You all know that breast feeding burns a lot calories.

3) My son is very very active.

He is one of those boys that can never sit still. So naturally I was on the move all the time and that was a drastic change from my dormant past. Haha..I was on my feet a lot and I noticed that even when I ate ALOT, I would not gain as much weight as I did in the past. Amazing!

If you have a more relaxed toddler or a young baby, than go on daily walks. I don’t exercise much but I walk a heck of a lot. Walking really helps in leaning out the body.

4) Loving & trusting your body.

I had very positive role models prior to giving birth. My sisters in law were slim after having children and that was the mental image that I had expected of myself even after having a child. I also felt very strongly that my body was amazing - to have grown a baby is a miracle and that inspired me to let go of all negative perceptions of my bodily flaws and embrace my amazing body.

The fact of the weight loss journey is that you will have periods of no weight loss and that is perfectly normal. It’s an indication that you just need to get more active or tweak your eating habits or simply take it easy for a while. At the end of the day, I had absolute trust that my body would adjust itself back to my original weight. It would do it at it’s own pace and I respected & trusted that.

5) Real weight lost takes place in your mind.

You are what you think you are. If you have a mental impression that mommies are fatties, than it’s most likely that you will retain the post pregnancy weight and it will be hard to shed. Also, there are many myths like your body will be flabby after your pregnancy and you’ll never look the same again.

What I did was that I had a strong belief that pregnant woman could look great after birth. Just look at J.LO and Gwen Stefani. They work their butts off to get into amazing shape and they never attributed it to just great genes. They had certain expectations of their post pregnancy bodies and they really work hard to achieve their fab bods.

My plan was much simpler. I didn’t hit the gym or do any vigorous exercise. I had a strong belief that I would lose the pregnancy weight and that I would be able to fit into all my old jeans. I never let my rounder post pregnancy body stress me into thinking that I would stay that way forever. Since I wasn’t burning calories in the gym, I would try to eat better and keep active!

6) You are what you eat.

Your body is made in the kitchen. I used to be a gym fanatic in my University days and I’m taking protein shakes, bulking up on weights ( because I thought it would help me gain muscle and burn fats – how wrong I was as this approach is wrong for people who bulk easily from lifting weights), eating tons of protein, starving myself of carbs but I wasn’t as slim as I was now ( on the scale and dress size). My hubby would always poke fun of my rounder days but I’ve come to realize that I was fat than because I was using the wrong type of exercise to make up for my huge appetite and poor food choice. I wasn’t burning enough hence the fatter younger self.

The one thing I was doing to lose the last bits of stubborn excess weight was to eat a very high fruit and vegetable diet. I never felt better, I had tons of energy and my body was at it’s leanest. Many of my friends started to notice and commented that I was much slimmer after going on a high fruit and veggie diet.

I consumed a lot of soy milk, almond milk, spinach, watermelon, strawberries and bananas. I’ve read a lot on the different diets such as the blood type diet and the salmon diet and what not but the one that changed my body the most was the RAW DIET. I did not go totally raw because it’s far too extreme for me but it inspired me to add a lot more iron rich vegetables and high water content fruits to my diet and the results were increased energy, great skin and a leaner body. The trick is to read more about the different types diets and incorporate those aspects that you feel can be easily integrated into your daily lifestyle and make it a habit. Habits lead to change and can lead to a great looking body. Mom or not!

7) I would not deprive myself of anything.

When you start depriving your body of things it craves, it will backfire on you. I know that every time I say NO to chocolate, I end up finishing the entire box. So, I’ve learnt that if you crave sinful food, make sure it taste really good and enjoy it. You’ll eat less and enjoy it more because you remove the guilt from food. FOOD is not the problem. It’s a persons attitude towards food. We often hear people saying: oh my god, I am so fat because I love to eat cheese and this and that. It’s basically blaming food for your shape which is the wrong approach. I remember being at my heaviest and blaming food for making me so.

Since than, I’ve gradually changed my mindset to understand that food is sustenance and it’s enjoyable. Forget what the media says about this diet or that diet. It’s changing one’s behavior that produces the most results.

Also, a tip is that when you start to consume high quality, nutritional foods on a regular basis, you’ll find your desires for unhealthy food start to decline because your nutritional needs are met.

8) Don’t obsess about it.

This point is very closely related to point 3. Why? Because I’ve found that when I obsess about my weight or my skin, it always becomes worse. When you focus too much on your skin, you start to pick at it or find faults with it. When you focus excessively on your weight and make it your central focus in life, you start to get overly conscious about your weight which can cause your weight lost plan to backfire.

For me, I would weight myself most mornings when I was trying to lose weight, to be mindful about my efforts for the day ahead. But I would not beat myself up if I happened to have gained a few pounds. I would just refocus my efforts on being more active or choosing healthier foods.

This point is especially important for individuals like myself who have OCD. The more active I was, the faster the weight came off, without even realising it. When I fussed and tried to eat much less to lose weight, the weight lost became very hard and in some cases, I would sabotage myself and eat more. Thankfully, keeping up with my son was a full time job and that helped take my entire focus off my weight and just enjoy life.

9) Be grateful.

I accepted my post pregnancy body, even though it was different from before. I’m truly grateful for my scars, my tummy and my bigger boobs. I have only appreciation for the human body and I never realized just how amazing my body’s self adjusting mechanism was.

10) Supplements.

I take fish oil, spirulina, Vit C, Iron and Vit E almost everyday when I was nursing. It helped tremendously in helping my body heal after my c section and it really benefits your skin and body. When your body is not getting enough nutrients and minerals, it leads to cravings and most of the time, you end up consuming foods that aren't that healthy.

Ok guys, I hope this helps you whether or not you are a mommy. I wish I had known these tips in my college years when I was FAT! These tips make me a happier and overall more contented person as well.

Skinfood Salmon Concealor Cream

TGIF! That's all I have to say right now. My week has been very stormy but I've taken the mental approach that setbacks only mean you have to find a better way of doing things. I guess the same mentality can be applied to makeup. Keep on trying until you find the perfect concealor for your skin.
Concealors are the basis of great makeup. The one makeup product I believe in investing money in is concealor. It erases dark circles, flaws and pigmentation. A good matching concealor is also key if you want your eye makeup to look flawless.

I'm currently on a Skinfood craze so I thought I would test out their Salmon Darkcircle Concealor. Salmon shades are suppose to assist in cancelling out the darkness under the eye.

Super cute packaging!

Creamy and looking very pigmented in the swatch above.

Pardon the wonky eyes. The only thing I am impressed with is the color coverage for my dark circles. The color of the concealor does most of the concealing but the formula is a bit of a let down. I had to reapply a number of times for maximum coverage and even than the coverage wouldn't last for more than an hour. It slides on my skin and gets worse in hotter weather. Not sure if the texture is a little too creamy but I always have to set it with some powder.

Overall, I wouldn't purchase this product again and I've gone back to using Benefit's boi-ing concealor. It has better staying power and doesn't slide on my skin.

CLIO GElpresso Waterproof pencil gel liner

I know I know! I haven’t been updating as frequently as I used to but I haven’t been excited enough about any any beauty or skincare products and honestly I really needed a break. Well, the beauty junkie is back and it’s partly because of Clio’s latest Gelpresso range. Needless to say, I’m super impressed with the latest Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners in Bloody Sweet, Bloody Angel and Bloody Devil.

The quality and make of the Gelpresso line is amazing. It’s creamy enough not to tug at lids during application and sets so well. Expect no smudging, vibrant color and super easy application with this waterproof pencil gel line.

I personally think Dara’s promo look is very daring, eye catching and current. I don’t have the guts to wear such bold looks out but I’ve adapted it to my own taste as you’ll see if you continue scrolling down. I was sent 3 unique and burgundy themed colors to review:

I’ll let the swatches and the intensity of the colors speak for itself. Clio has a knack for selecting colors that flatter asian skin tones and that is something I adore. Many eyeliners I’ve tested in the market ( high and low end), look better swatched than applied. Well, with GELPRESSO expect:

1) Smoothness and staying power ( mine last all day through rain and sweat)

2)Easy and quick application ( as compared to gel liners in a pot)

3) Talc and paraben free formula is suitable even for sensitive skin

4) It can be used as an eyeshadow ( just smudge it before it sets)

5) Retractable auto pencil that allows easy application every time

My absolute favourite color has to be 15 Bloody Devil because it’s just so intense and vibrant. The shimmer does not get all over my face unlike a lot of other glitter eyeliner and trust me these colors may seem a little scary at first but they are actually very gorgeous and sophisticated when you wear them right. I highly recommend Clio Gelpresso Pencil Gel Liner for sexy eyes. Bloody Sweet, Bloody Angel and Bloody Devil retail at 18.90 SGD at selected Watson Stores.

Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off REVIEW

Have you guys ever tried Skin Food’s Rice Mask Wash Off ? It’s my first time trying their skincare products so I thought the best thing to do would be to test one of their popular skin care item that is made of rice.

This mask is a little strange. It doesn’t harden or peel off on the face. It’s kind of like a gentle exfoliator that can be washed off after scrubbing. I stumbled across reviewers online calling this a wash off mask. To me, it’s still works a lot like an exfoliator but an extremely gentle rice based one.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Skin Food Rice Mask had little to no scent and the real reason why I purchased it was because the sales girl who had super fair and smooth skin told me that she used it for whitening. Ok, I’m a total sucker.

So, what’s my verdict on this highly raved about wash off rice mask by Skinfood ?

It’s moisturizing, gentle and it has a slight brightening effect. I was recommended to use the mask twice a week but I kind of underestimated it and used it 4 times ( once every two days) since I bought it and my skin is reacting ** greedy greedy me!**. There are red bumps which are signs of irritation or incompatibility for my skin. I did not really get the kind of brightening results that the sales girl was raving about so it could be that it either takes more time to see more obvious results or it could just be a so la la product. It feels quite soothing nevertheless and I’m still going to use it as an exfoliating mask maybe twice a week to see if it makes a difference in a month or so. I’ll update if my skin continues to react negatively despite using it twice a week!

Life threw me a gazillion lemons this week and I tried my best to make lemonade. Trust me I am not exaggerating because I feel like I’ve made the uneasy transition from being a girl to a woman in the past few weeks. Hard times makes you grow up. Also, you may be thinking that I’m just whiny and PMSing but I’m not. I’ve had the very uncomfortable and stressful need to stand up to bullies under unwanted spotlight. I wish I could tell you the full story but I want my readers to know that even adults get bullied and if we do not stand up for what we believe in than meanies will not hesitate to bulldoze over us.

Growing up, my family was always very decent, polite, well mannered and we would more often than not, give in to others, rather than fight for what we believed in. My choices were always questioned and because I was a late bloomer, that killed my self confidence. Believe it or not, I could not speak up for myself for a large part of my early years.

Fortunately, my hubby ( than boyfriend) who saw me for me, taught me how to love myself and instilled confidence in my personal choices. As a child, I remembered allowing service staff to be rude and nasty to me because I felt that that was fine and part of life. After being with my hubby for a few years, I saw how my hubby handled and dealt with bullies – he never gave in and always found a way to stand up for himself and intimidate them back. I found myself starting to burst out of my bubble bit by bit and even though I still get extremely nervous standing up for myself now, I will speak up for myself and express my thoughts and feelings. My confidence and self worth has grown to the point that horrible service staff have gotten hell from me or fired because I stood up for myself and made it very clear that I expect certain basic standards. So, what’s the point in this rather angry rant and how does it even connect to the Prada Saffiano Lux Tote?

Topshop lip paints in Low Down (Orange) and Yeah Right ( Neon Red) are a very pigmented mix of a lipstick and gloss. I swatched it below so that you could see it as a full on color and also after I’ve blotted several times.

Topshop has great taste in colors and I’m super impressed with the pigmentation, lasting abilities and the non drying effect of this lip paint. It is aptly named because the texture is similar to paint and pigmentation is awesome. The lip paint wears off after a few hours but the stain stays on until you remove it.

What I love about these colors are the fact that they are young, fresh and vibrant. You will stop traffic with a full on lip paint. I enjoy dabbing a little on my lips or doing an ombre lip with this product.

Kids @ River Safari

Hallo Lovelies,

Well it’s the weekend again and you know what I love to do with my little man – go to the ZOO! The best part is that there’s this new attraction called the River Safari and oh my gosh, I loved every minute of it!!

I don’t know about little man but I felt like a kid in a candy store because I was sort of obsessed with wildlife and animals as a young child and it was so nice just enjoying some time with my mom and little man. I have to give the River Safari major props because it’s the first and only River Themed Wildlife Park. You get to open your eyes to the Rivers of the world – Mississippi, Mekong, Yangtze and an additional Giant Panda Forest. You’ll get a map of the River Safari upon ticket purchase and it’s totally adorable.

Man oh man the world is a wondrous place and despite all the issues about animals in captivity, I truly appreciate the opportunity to see such amazing animals & creatures up close…… and so we begin our journey … with the ALLIGATOR SNAPPING TURTLE.

The most awesome, in a scary but cool, sort of way. I’ve affectionately nicknamed this turtle “ Dinosaur Turtle” while little man calls it “ Oppa’s Tortise” Who doesn’t get mixed up between a tortoise and a turtle every now and then ?? You have got to catch this fantastic creature. It is some sort of amazing.

This fierce looking fish is the Alligator Gar.

I’ve never been able to differentiate an alligator from a crocodile but now I don’t have that problem. It’s all thanks to this adorable signboard.

Little man would rather hang with the fake crocodile than the real ones. This is one of the longest of all living crocodilians. The Gharial Alligator is now considered to be critically endangered due to gill nets and habitat loss. As a child I felt really sad after knowing that lots of animals were on the endangered list, so hopefully these 2 breed and have little croc babies, unless of course, they are both of the same sex !

Interesting.. can’t wait to see this.

Ah, little boy’s favourite – Mekong Giant Catfish.

It’s so wonderful to watch a child fall in love with nature’s creatures.

Pandas work in the night and sleep in the day. I’ve visited him twice and both times he was sleeping.

Such attention to detail. Love the whole panda themed concept.

Squirrel Monkey jumping all over.

The most exciting and beautiful part of the River Safari. I wouldn’t mind visiting this place a thousand times. The Amazon Flooded Forest is the world’s largest freshwater aquarium showcasing beautiful manatees.

It was like underground cave with a magnificent fish tank. It was rather amazing and I really felt like a kid – excited, impressed and in awe. I loved seeing the manatees swimming around, enjoying life. What a treat for the kids and adults.

The world may not be a perfect place and work may have jaded me but journeying through the River Safari made me reconnect with the kid in me and has once again left me in awe of these amazing creatures.

You must visit the River Safari, especially when the Boat Ride is complete. Truly magical.

Weekly Update

Hi Gorgeous,

Hope everyone is doing super well. The weather has been so hot, humid & absolutely unbearable. I've had to adjust my makeup and keep it simple and smudge proof with my dolly wink eyeliner, Benefit's They're Real Mascara and MAC's Good To Be Bad lipstick.

Omg, I love my Tory Burch but breaking them in hurts like %$&^

Day 1 - All I could bear was an hour. No blister at all but my right foot was hurting so badly inside.

Day 2 - I walked a little but was sitting down most of the time for 4-5 hours. Not much pain.

Day 3 - Omg, I was running everywhere with these babies for the first hour or so but after 1.5 hours of intense walking, my feet started to hurt real bad! Took them off after 2 hours.

So I love these shoes to bits cause they go with so many outfits but breaking them in is PAINFUL but I will persist :) *Ouch*

Shopped a little over the weekend. Tried on a mommy jumper at Topshop. Hubby liked it but I felt that it was a little too muffin looking at my middle section.

I really liked the office wear at Uniqlo.This cotton shirt was so comfortable and had a real slim cut. I had to get it.

I have a thing for high waisted pants but I still haven't found the one. This one was bulging a little too much in the front for my liking. Well, I hope you guys are doing well. I've got more reviews coming up.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick & Tory Burch Surprise

Hi Gorgeous Darlings,

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been melting in the sweltering summer heat and have only been craving lots of sweet cold drinks! Anything to cool me down please.

I've been searching for some time for a beautiful classy plum burgundy shade and I think I've found it with MAC's Sheen Supreme Lipstick Good To Be Bad. It's creamy, glossy, balm like and extremely gorgeous. It's dark without looking too gothic and could even pass off as a deep red stain, if lightly applied and blotted off. It definitely makes for a sexy, modern lip!

Yes, it wears off after 4-5 hours and can look quite nasty so I have to check my lips rather often. I've worn Good to be bad with a lip liner to prevent the color from bleeding and I also had to make sure that I covered all the blemishes on my face. Dark lip colors are not forgiving and draw unwanted attention to blemishes.

Can't help but love this color. It's rather challenging to wear but I love how it feels on my lips and how bold it looks.

Oh and before I tell you what my hubby got me, yes you'll find out soon enough just be scrolling down, let me tell me the story behind the Tory Burch gift. I've been repainting the face of my wooden dining table and the hubby and me got into a fight because he made me scrap off the " mess" I supposedly made.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad, if anything it was merely a wrong color choice, so we fought over a table, a cold war ensued and he got me Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flats as a sorry gift. Needless to say, I started speaking to him the minute I saw the TB gift :)

He wrote me a little card

Here's a really terrible morning shot of my bare face after washing it. Pardon pardon. It will get better. Haha

I was a little afraid that cream beige would be too dark but it suited my face nicely, although it was a little too dark for my neck area.

Applied some Even Better Makeup with my fingers only!!! Look at how even my skin tone looks now. Can you imagine how wonderful the finish would be with the proper foundation brush??

Some close ups so you can see just how well it evens out my skin tone, conceals dark spots or hyper pigmentation and it gives off a beautiful glow due to the luminous minerals in the formula.

I'm super impressed with Clinique's Even Better Makeup Spf 15. Supposedly, with daily wear, you can see clearer skin tone in 4-6 weeks. That is my kind of foundation. Needless to say, I do have quite a number of items to review but something always seems to disrupt me from getting it all done!!

The recent excuse for slower updates ( u know I always try my best to update every 2-3 days) is because of little man's eye infection + fever + heat rash + sudden change in sleeping habits. It seems that childhood isn't childhood if you don't get sick at least once A month and childcare certainly aggravates the situation. Before I digress further ( who wants to hear me Rant?!?) , I thought I would do a very important blog entry on coconut oil.

Coconut oil has a treasure trove of health benefits. There are misconceptions about it being fatty and bad for health and I would blame it on misguided and lack of information, to even poorly informed health institutions for spreading false information. Coconut oil contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Even so, everything should be used in moderation to extract the best benefit.

How I use Coconut oil:-

1) To repair and soften my damaged hair . I'm very liberal with the amount of coconut oil I use and I usually leave it in to soak for 30mins - 1 hour. It's much more tolerable and smells so nice as compared to olive oil. My mom would condition my hair when I was younger with olive oil and I would hate it because it was so hard to wash out. I wish she had used coconut oil instead cause it comes off easily and leaves my hair soft, shiny and silky.

2) As a moisturizer especially during hot humid days when my skin is red and irritated

3) As a face mask on days when I need a quick pick me up

4) To remove makeup

5) I try to consume a tablespoon of coconut oil a few times a week
- good fats give your skin a glow & has health benefits too -

6) On my little boy's hair. He used to have very ultra fine chinchilla type hair and it used to grow so slowly but after cutting his hair and applying more coconut oil, his hair is thicker and grows pretty fast now

Antique Rose { Liese Bubble Hair Color }

Hi Gorgeous,

I can't sleep cause I've got too much excited energy after changing my hair color to Antique Rose { Liese Bubble Hair Color }

A product has to be good if I were to repurchase and this time I'm afraid that Liese has made it way too easy and safe to change my hair color according to the season! I didn't need to read the instructions cause they're pretty simple and straight forward. If u want a more detailed explanation, u can always read my Platinum Beige review.

Anyhow, this time I left the dye on for 45
minutes cause my hair was pretty ashy and as much as I loved the light brown shade, I didn't enjoy looking so washed out. Also, there are tons of antique rose reviews but none had high quality photos that could really depict the actual color. So I took a risk but I was very aware that Reds or Burgundy shades wash off very quickly.

It's still looking very stark at the crown of my head but liese hair dye does take a few week to settle and show up on my hair. Also, it does look quite reddish purplish under yellow lights with brown undertones. Oh well, see how long it'll last :)

Guess what I found in Watsons – Elite Paris Cosmetics Range. It’s the first time I’ve seen this brand on the shelves and I’m super glad that Watsons is once again increasing their cosmetic range.

After spending close to 30 minutes just swatching almost all of their products, I fell in love and purchased their Intense Kajal, Lipstick & Tapis Rogue Mascara. Since I’ve been using these everyday since, I think now is a good time to review them.

Elite Tapis Rogue Mascara (01 Cinema Black) $20.90

I love the glamorous looking and sturdy packaging. This mascara claims to get every single eye lash and true enough I experienced thorough coverage on lashes and little smudging during application. It holds the curl pretty well but of course expect some drooping after 3-4 hours. This mascara is very black and buildable and I was immensely impressed at the easy removal with water. It works just as well as my Japanese mascara but isn’t as clumpy and more defining, so it’s great for those who prefer lengthening and defining mascaras.

Elite French Kiss (02 Dinner in Montimartre) $17.90

Think yummy, smooth, rich and creamy when it comes to Elite Paris French Kiss Lippies. My shade is Dinner in Montimartre which is a divine nude, soft brown shade, perfect for a sophisticated and grown up look. I’ve paired this lippy with my pink lipsticks and it looks just as gorgeous. Cannot say more about this shade.

Elite Intense Kajal (03 Precious Grey) $16.90

I’ve always had a soft spot for Kajal Liners. Don’t ask me why but I should have learnt that liquid liners really do suit my eye shape best. Anyhow, since I bought it, I’ll review it! This is probably one product that I’m not 100% about. It works great to line the water line but it does not have the staying power of my usual liquid eyeliners. I love the smudged rocker chic look but on me, it just looks dirty and somewhat messy after a few hours. I picked precious grey because I liked a softer shade for day time use but I find myself having to clean up smudges every hour or so.

In spite of the smudges, the kajal liner is still very smooth and lovely to use but expect smudging. To set it, I used some eyeshadow but even then it still looks little bit messy. For those with dry lids and no problem with using Kajal, this might be the one for you. There have other colors like black and green I believe…

I like the fact that it smells like flowers that live near the ocean. It has the most relaxing spa scent that is unlike any other cream I’ve tried. It did not break me out or clog my pores. I also find that it really plumps up my skin and makes it look very youthful. However, it does contain mineral oil which makes the texture a little heavier than regular creams. The upside was that it’s very nourishing for my skin during cold drier nights but was a little too heavy/oily feeling for hot humid nights. This cream would be beneficial to those with drier, lackluster and overall tired skin as it delivers oxygen to the skin thus rejuvenating it.

Recommended for dry and tired skin types that needs a boost.

Step 1: Spray some of your newly made sea salt spray (following these instructions) into slightly damp hair especially at the roots
Step 2: Allow to dry ( soooo important, use a hair dryer if in a hurry)
Step 3: Using a hot Iron or a curler, curl your hair concentrating especially on the lower section
Step 4: Taking a paddle brush, comb out the curls very gently
Step 5: Scrunch or curl sections which you think need some touching up
.DONE. Let me tell you that I have very fine hair which coupled with hot humid weather makes for flat dead curls that barely last more than a few hours but the sea salt spray really gives a nice lift and the gel holds the curls nicely in place. I must stress that the secret to soft beachy curls is to let it dry, after application of the DIY sea salt spray, for the most effective results. Use a hot iron afterwards to curl sections and forget about those perfect curls – curl in different directions and be messy with the styling. You’ll see your CURLS last a really long time and for me it only loosened up nicely after 3-4 hours. The coconut oil really helps to prevent the sea salt from drying out the hair.

Bonavoce Volumising Mascara

Hi Gorgeous Ones,

I'm about to reveal my all time holy grail mascara! It doesn't come as any surprise that it's a Japanese brand and it's found together with another top favourite diamond blush at Guardian.

One tube usually last me 4-6 months and I'm on my second one right now. I actually find this comparable to higher end brands but it works way better and is super easy to remove. Minimal to no smudges and absolutely easy removal with warm water. It holds a curl really well while giving volume which is rare. In all, it does exactly what it says it will do without making lashes rock hard!

Friends comment on my eyes when I use this mascara so I know this works. Trust me & check this out!

Getting Glammed Up * Step by Step Tutorial *

Hi Gorgeous Beauties,
I’m back! With a fun getting glammed up tutorial !

Ok, let’s get to it. This is my process of getting ready for important events like weddings so I hope it benefits you in some way because I am always working on a time crunch. I have a super active kid to take care of, a house to keep tidy and hectic family life so I like to maximise my time. Keeping organised & planning ahead is KEY.

STEP 1: Select at least 2 dresses ahead of time.

Why 2? Trust me, it’s better to have a choice than none at all. I’m fickle and I actually had 3 dresses before finally settling on this gold accent Topshop Dress.There is a story behind this golden skin color dress. I was shopping in Malaysia last year when I came across the year end sale in Topshop and my hubby was absolutely grouchy but I just had to get this dress. I could not part with it and he was like “ you are never going to wear that dress” and I proved him wrong today!! hahaha… It looks kinda like a disco aunty type of dress but I’ve learnt that the simplest most well cut designs are the most underrated of them all and my absolute favourite.

I love evergreen designs & quality material because they never go out of style. My favourite brands of all time for high quality reliable event dresses are ZARA & TOPSHOP. I would shop at Topshop all the time if only there was one closer to my place… dangerous.

STEP 2: Select your bag\clutch ahead of time

Stock up on a few bags which match your dresses. They do not have to be expensive but if you like high end brands, feel free to work it. Getting glam is a chance to express yourself and your style. Don’t be afraid. I like simpler longer clutches for weddings. I chuck makeup, my handphone and money into it. Perfect size to hold under the arm as well. I am naked without a bag of sorts.

STEP 3: Select your shoes ahead of time

In the past, I would just throw a whole outfit together on the day itself but most of the time it would not turn out nice. Something would look out of place. The reason is simple – your overall look depends on cohesiveness. Cohesiveness requires some thinking through and I believe that it’s only right to look your best at an important event that someone invited you to. So, always have a bunch of shoes ready. By default, I love the kitten heels ( Black or Nude) from Zara and the H&M light purple suede shoes. So comfy & easy to match.

STEP 4: Preen your nails, hands and lay out accessories a few hours before the event

Need I say more? I only had 30-40 minutes of actual prep time so early preparation makes a whole world of difference. I only had minutes for my nails because every single time I painted them, it would be destroyed by carrying my little boy or doing some housework. I know a lot of girls who have much nicer nails so keep that up & remember to keep a range of accessories available to select from after you have put on your makeup and dress.
I prepare my accessories before hand but I only make my choice after makeup & outfit is done. It’s most logical because I want the accessory to complement the whole look not be the center of attention or look totally out of place.

STEP 5: Put on your dress & Prep and Style Hair

I use a rounded brush for a curled in and softer appearance for the bottom section of my hair. I use the sharp comb for backcombing after applying some volumising product on it. This time I put on my makeup after I did my hair. But I would suggest putting on the dress before you do your hair otherwise it’s gonna be hard to wiggle into the dress without affecting the hair! Kinda depends on the type of dress or outfit you’re wearing as well…

STEP 6: Natural looking circle lenses

I’ve been loving the black or brown ones for a really wide eyed and natural look. Circle lenses balance out small eyes and look so good on pictures. It’s a must have for me especially in photos. My face looks huge without these.

STEP 7: Give yourself at least 20-30 minutes to do up your makeup

A look at all the makeup items I ended up using. I always use my Urban Decay Naked Palette for any important event. Buck is the most important color in my life and I use it for my brows and crease area. I use the lighter sparkly shades for the inner eye area and a tiny bit on my brow bone. I used a brown eyeliner for tight lining the upper water line and my all time favourite dolly wink liquid eye liner was used to create a cat eye effect. Diamond cream blusher for my cheeks mainly along with lots of Essence bronzer ( use a light hand ) and I actually applied a face mask and argan oil all over my face prior to makeup application ( SKIP THIS if you are super short on time). It helps in hydrating the skin and gives the face a glow. For my base foundation I used Shu Uemura UV Liquid ( super old but I still love this amazing foundation). I contoured with my la color eyeshadow and hid my panda under eye circles with amazing concealor and of course I used brushes for the whole application process.

STEP 8: Final Touches – Selecting accessories & Taking a picture

Everything should be more or less done. Your outfit, your hair and makeup. The one thing left is to pick the accessories and trust me it’s so much easier to accessorize when everything is on. Following which, do take a picture to double check. I made a few adjustments but here’s the final look – hope you like glammed up outfit!
