東北ダンスアーティスト支援の一環としてワークショップの参加者、仙台からダイナミックな踊りで定評のある高橋裕子ダンスカンパニー、ニューヨーク在住･清水まゆ奈と梶原徹也のドラムのコラボ、そして甲南大学ジャズ研究会による演奏で北と南を結び、観客と共に絆を深めるパフォーマンスです。

ニューヨーク　ブルーミューズダンスカンパニーのディレクター、そして世界各国の大学や教育機関でマスタークラスの教師を担当した清水まゆ奈（福島県出身、NY在住）による、バレエを中心にモダン、ヒップ･ホップ、アフリカン･ダンス、ヨガ、ピラティスなどを盛り込んだ独特なワークショップで、将来海外留学を目指す方、踊りの幅を広げたいダンサーにとって魅力的なクラスです。

２日間のワークショップ参加者は１３日（日）の平生記念セミナーハウスにおける公演に参加できます。踊る喜び、そして楽しみを多くのひとたちと分かち合うこの刺激的な東北支援企画に、ぜひ奮ってご参加ください。

・高橋裕子

　日本国内の名だたる舞踊コンクールで数々の賞を受賞し、仙台を拠点に活動するモダンダンス・カンパニー主宰。西洋のバレエやモダンダンスのダイナミックな技法に、日本的な繊細さの漂う感情表現を融合し、異時空の世界へと誘う叙情的な舞踊空間を創出する振付家として知られる。第19回ヨコハマ・コンペティションでは振付家として最優秀賞を受賞。07年、文化庁の新進芸術家海外研修制度でニューヨークに留学し、国際的な活動の場を広げている。

・清水まゆ奈

福島県出身。ブルーミューズダンスカンパニー(NY)のディレクター。1９９７年に渡米以後、数々のバレエカンパニー、コンテンポラリーカンパニーのプリンシパルとして踊り、また振り付け家として、国内外の多数のダンスフェスティバルに招待される。世界各国の大学や教育機関でマスタークラスの教師を担当。

・梶原徹也

　元･ブルーハーツのドラマーで活躍した後、独立。各国で演奏。現在、サンダービートで活動中。また、フリースクールの音楽講座を手掛け音楽の楽しさを広げている

ReVision presented by Forward Motion Theater is a monthly series where live media and digital art are integral to the performing arts. The evening features independent works by featured artists incorporating live mix video, film, dance, spoken word, puppetry, music, and costume. Part of the LIC Arts Open festival, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Attic Studios.

Advance Tickets $10 or purchase at the door for $12.

Main show begins at 8pm, doors open at 7:30pm for a pre-show social gathering.

Tom Pearson (Cherokee) tests his assumptions about duel identity, sanctuary, and cultural attachments by setting his 2003 solo on Japanese performer Mayuna Shimizu. Through a multi-layered solo journey, the dance maps out a hybrid-identity to reconcile notions of cultural heritage, loss, and reclamation by bringing together the past and present, the social and the personal, from a Native viewpoint on the choreographer’s part and a Japanese-American viewpoint on the performer’s.

about the artists:

Julie Fotheringham performed as a dancer/acrobat in Cirque du Soleil before coming to New York to make her own work. Here she has shown her short solos in various venues including Dance New Amsterdam, Galapagos Art Space, and Monkeytown. Her evening-length piece 'Stress Positions', a collaboration with Jarryd Lowder, premiered at Roulette in May 2009. Julie was featured in The L Magazine's "Ten Names You Need to Know in NYC Arts" issue in

Jarryd Lowder is an artist working with electronic audiovisual media (integrating forms such as video, sound and music) primarily for live performance. His performances and other works have been presented in the US and countries such as Spain,France, Japan, Finland, Korea and the Netherlands. Blue Muse Dance founded by Mayuna Shimizu, is rooted in New York City and Japan. Blue Muse collaborates with dancers, musicians, and video artists. Mayuna’s approach is “with an open heart” and reviews include The Arts Magazine in Singapore, New York Times, Village Voice, OCS Japanese Newspaper, and Dance Insider. Mayuna is also a member of Battery Dance Company.

(+1-1) is the brainchild of director/choreographer James Roy Graber, a classically trained dancer and interdisciplinary theater artist. An active participant in the EyeWash series, poetry slams, and frequent collaborator with other artists, James has toured nationally and internationally with Hartford Ballet and American Repertory Ballet. His work has been shown at Broome Corner Studio, Henry Street Settlement, P.S.122, the adjudicated Philadelphia Fringe Festival and this past summer at the National Puppetry Festival in Atlanta. James performs for New York City’s Metropolitan Opera Ballet where his recent solo in “Madama Butterfly” was broadcast live to 600 theaters worldwide. Here (+1-1) presents the Arthurian legend, “Mordred’s Apology,” where alternate reality and alternative history mash with Tennyson and Malory.

Wetcircuit is Holly Daggers, a New York City-based VJ and Media Artist who creates and composes visual media in real time. Performances include concert VJ for Busta Rhymes, James Brown, Page McConnell, Moby, and T.I., and was voted a Top 20 VJ worldwide by DJ Magazine, UK. She has designed interactive video installations for the Museum of Modern Art and Chelsea Art Museum. Holly collaborates with musicians and choreographers presenting her media performances in both art gallery and theatrical settings, and has opened her shooting studio to create dance on video as a hybrid performance venue.

Urban Wash Dance Company is a fusion of dance and technology married to social and political consciousness. Movement vocabulary is derived from multidisciplinary sources enhanced by a high degree of athleticism. Urban Wash Dance Company is made up of dancers, video artists, DJs, and organized by Rebekah J Kennedy, Artistic Director/Choreographer. Performances and choreography have been featured throughout the United States.

Blind is dancer and choreographer Eric Dunlap. Based in New York City, Eric toured internationally as a principal dancer with Alwin Nikolais / Murray Louis Dance. He has worked with various companies such as Peter Pucci Plus Dancers, Rebecca Sten/Perks Dance Music Theater, Sarah Skaggs Dancer/Higher Ground Projects, Pilobolus, and Pink Inc., appeared on NBC’s Today Show and is currently a member of the New York City Metropolitan Opera Ballet. Eric graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts and is a black belt in Aikido.

Tyler Stone is a singer / songwriter. Tyler Stone is a hard slammin', rootin tootin', shot pourin', synthesized reality phene sent from lands unknown to bring you constant "Post Orgasmic" feel good. Abandoned by his mother and raised by a pack of wild robots, he comes fully equipped with human-like qualities and synthetic realness. Inspiration is derived from symphonic sounds to glass shattering on the city streets.

Forward Motion Theater presents RE:Vision, a collaboration of live performances weaving multimedia and dance from a fresh critical perspective. The evening features five independent works by artists combining choreography, video, spoken word, and music. RE:Vision builds on Forward Motion Theater’s 6-year successful series EyeWash that fostered interdisciplinary collaborations between more than 200 digital media artists and live performers.

Kim Gibilisco Dances Kim Gibilisco began her professional performance career when she was invited by Mr Louis to join Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance. The New York Times has dubbed Ms Gibilisco “a firecracker of a dancer.” The Village Voice noted that Ms Gibilisco is “Louis’ most accomplished dancer. In May 2008, Ms Gibilisco launched her dance company, Kim Gibilisco Dances, at Merce Cunningham Studio in NYC. Her choreography has been presented at the Frederic Lowe Theatre, the Downtown Arts Festival, the DUMBO Arts Festival, the Nikolais Legacy Conference at Hunter College, the Maryland Choreographer’s Showcase and Dance Place in Washington, DC. For the 20th anniversary of Tiananmen Square on June 4, 2009, the Chinese government prevented memorials from occurring and blocked many popular websites. Furthermore, any online postings originating from China were censored from using “June 4”; bloggers creatively began referring to the date as “May 35” instead.

Western journalists attempted to report on the anniversary from the square; however, Chinese policemen posing as tourists blocked cameramen with umbrellas. The Umbrellas of May 35th reimagines the umbrella-wielding undercover policemen as Red Guard dancers from Red Detachment of Women, a propagandist Communist ballet from the Cultural Revolution.

映像と音楽の織りなすアートイベントTransformation ~once, long ago~ が開催される。野澤瞳氏による音楽プロジェクト「Hito +(プラス)」、写真家仁志しおり氏、
画家アネカワミエコ氏によるコラボレーションイベント。各々の作品を通して、今回の共通のテーマ「Transformation(変形)」をそれぞれが色彩豊かに提示する。「Hito+」とはボーカリスト、ダンサーである野澤氏によるコラボレーション音楽プロジェクトであり、アコースティックな演奏からエレクトロニクスの音まで、映像やダンスが同氏ボーカルと共に展開されていく。今回の演奏にはマルチプレーヤーの山本祐介氏、ドラマーのダニエル・ジョドシー氏、フルーティストの宮崎信子氏、現代ダンスの清水まゆな氏が出演のほか、グラフィックアーティストマリー・ヒラガ氏による映像が上映される。ゲストには、NYクラブシーンで活躍する音楽デュオユニットに日本からのゲストを加えた「Dizzy Ventilators + Toshizo」が出演する。
