As a father to a son and as a man myself shouldn't I be entitled to speak up
against the many important issues and injustices that go unseen or unheard that
continually affect the male community as a whole? Does this make me a Woman
hating misogynistic monster that has no sense of the feminized struggle and the
goals that they have reached in their own accomplishments?
Why must I walk the line of political correctness and be concerned as to not be
viewed as a insensitive villain based on my belief that I feel young men and
men as a whole are in need. Real men are a dying breed. I see the decline and
loss of manhood daily in our male community, from the way we are damaging our
young men by not allowing their masculinity flourish, the lack of educational
goals we set, to the way we are portrayed in media and the lack of legal rights
we have as men as a whole.

Where did we men go wrong? Men get blame for being history’<a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

destroy it, but forgotten are the fruits of men’<a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

that have been planted from childhood of "boys being bad and girls being
good', as simple as it may sound have had a tremendous affect on the male mind
set. The past generations of single mothers and absent fathers has created a
perfect storm of male destruction. Could all of this be why tests in 2009 by
the Program for International Student Assessment showed that education is one
of the many areas where young men are steadily falling behind, boys lagged a
year behind girls at reading in every industrialized country in the world.
Women now make up the large majority of undergraduates, young men are lacking
at every level of schooling worse grades, lower college attendance than girls
and are at a greater likelihood that they’<a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

outs and unemployed individuals world wide. 90% of people in prison are male. These
are facts, not assumptions. These problems are reaching catastrophic levels,
never a second thought is given to this decline nor whether men might be
discriminated against or not at all.

Custody law is perhaps the best-known area of men's discrimination, in most parts of the world custody rights
cases are stacked firmly against men. When the man is the primary care-giver
his chances of winning custody are lower than when the woman is the primary
care-giver. Even when the case is not contested by the mother, he'<a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

rigorously challenged, no such protection is afforded to men in legal realms.

The media also allows women to objectify and ridicule men in a way that would
be unthinkable if the gender roles were reversed. A study by the National
Fatherhood Initiative found that fathers are eight times more likely than
mothers to be portrayed negatively on network television.
Ward Cleaver and Bill Cosby have been replaced by an array of Dumb incompetent Dads.
Why this change? The most obvious reason is that the television audience has
subscribed to passive gender discrimination, and sitcoms are now a female
domain. Four out of five viewers of network sitcoms are women, and they
apparently like to see Mom smarter than Dad. But where does that leave the the young
man that has no father figure in his home and looks to media for a role model
or some blue print of what a man is to be. Overall men have increased their
share of the child care and housework while still working 14 hours longer
outside the home than mothers do each week in the past 10 years (post absent
daddy generation). Still, no matter how much Dads do in real life, television,
will find a ways to make the female sitcom audience laugh at men's expense.

The problem here should be obvious ,the anti-male attitude in a
highly-feminized society needs to be addressed. The mistake of feeding our
young men the stereotype male figures and "you are not the father
images" in the pro woman <a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

impressionable generation of boys. Boys have a tremendous amount of “creative
energy.” This force is powerful, and it will either be focused constructively
or destructively. Young men can become <a href="about:blank" title="Click here to replace with:

difference, that will spark an effect in a young man from being a drug dealer
to becoming a doctor. the tragedy of today is that in the success of feminism
search to be equal, we have tipped the scales and have damaged the foundation
for most young men that will inevitably fall through the cracks.

.

When I say this, mind you, I mean it with neither a positive nor negative
connotation towards woman, nor do I feel I must apologize for my thoughts on
this matter,I'm just Identifying a problem that has gone on for too long. I
feel MEN and WOMAN alike should do their best to meet this issue head on to
save our young men that will one day become the pillar patriarchs of our
communities and the fathers of our future.

Panama to Costa Rica to a Better Understanding of Self ......

Isn’t it time for a new approach?

Is a new point of view possible?

Am I living my life to the best of my ability and if i am not what am I doing to achieve this goal.

How many of us think we haven't or we are not doing enough in our own lives?

I have a busy schedule, and so many things are going on in my life. But for some reason,

I think whatever I do was never enough. I recall many times saying or thinking to myself

"you aren’t doing enough",

when in fact I was and I am probably still doing more than I need to in life.

So if I do so much and I am so tired and burnt out, why do I feel like I don't have much to show nor have I reached the goals I have set for myself ?

I stopped to think and I noticed when people get so overly busy, they are looking for answers, hope, time and excuses to a way out in what they are doing. Not truly working towards their own personal goals. We become to Busy with others problems, others goals, others successes that we get distracted from their own goals, to Busy to not see a decline in your own mental, finical, physical and relationships health. We get involved in everything that comes our way, but we aren’t finding time to better ourselves, just a bunch of work, stress and burdens. And I believe it’s because we are chasing things that are not for us and that don't help us move forward. Its easy for us to do the same thing day in and day out no matter how much we dislike it because it's not as scary as the unknown.

WOW I think that makes a lot of sense but why would you or I not want to invest in our own goals or success. Could it be are creatures of habit?

Are we becoming our own stumbling blocks?

have we become OK moving along in life as blind mice because that's what everyone else is doing. When does the habit of wanting to better our life come in and replace the the habit of being complacent in being average or working below our own potential.

NEVER SETTLE!!!!

HAMMER & NAILS

SOME PEOPLE ARE BORN TO BE HAMMERS AND SOME PEOPLE ARE BORN TO BE THE NAILS.

I heard this statement today and it almost made me laugh, but in the utmost simplicity of this comment it really made me think. What is the real difference and why are some people just complacent with being the bottom guy or the laborer. What took that spark from them ( was it ever there ) to make them accept this and on the other hand why is it that some people will never accept mediocrities in their lives.

Did this spark burn out or was it just never lit ?

To be honest I dont even know where to begin with so many ways to approch this topic. All I know is that a Hammer lives in me and if I can light the spark in other to be a Hammer or not allow the spark to burn out in atleast one person I feel that I have done something right.

I have a feeling that this will not be the last time I vist this topic.....

What does it mean to be a man today?

Can men express their masculinity without becoming cold or closed-hearted or wimpy and emasculated ?

What’s a conscious man ?

A man understands and respects the power of choice. He lives a life of his own creation. He locks on to his target like a guided missile. There’s no guarantee he’ll reach his target, and he knows this, but he doesn’t need guarantees. A man doesn’t require the approval of others. He is willing to follow his heart and stand firm on his own feet.

A man knows he must commit to something greater than satisfying the needs of a few people. When others observe that a man is committed to his values and morals, he gains their trust and respect, even when he cannot gain their support. The way for a man to lose the respect of others as well as his own self-respect is to violate his own values.Whenever a man sacrifices his integrity, he loses his freedom… and himself as well. He then becomes an object of pity.

A man’s self-trust is one of his greatest assets. When he second-guesses himself by worrying about failure, he defeats himself. An intelligent man considers the prospect of failure, but he doesn’t preoccupy himself with worry. He accepts that if a failure occurs, he can deal with it. A man grows more from failure than he does from his success. Success cannot test his resolve in the way that failure can. When a man plays it safe, his has loss the opportunities to be greater for not only himself but the people and community that believe in him.

A MAN CAN CHANGE A WORLD OF YOUNG MEN BY NOT HIS WORDS BUT BY HIS ACTIONS.

A man is a giver of love, not a just a receiver. A man is the first to say “I love you.” The universe does not respond to hesitation. It is a man's job to share his love with the world.. A man accepts the consequences of being male, he makes no apologies for his nature. The male path is filled with obstacles. These obstacles help a man discover what’s truly important to him. Through repeated obstacles a man learns to search for worthy goals and to eliminate goals that are unworthy.

A man actively seeks out the company of people who inspire and challenge him, and he removes those who hold him back. A man doesn’t blame others for his problems. .A man holds himself accountable for the relationships he allows into his life. He holds others accountable for their behavior, but he holds himself accountable for his decision to tolerate such behavior.A man teaches others how to treat him by the relationships he’s willing to allow into his life.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.

.....WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MAN .....

FATHER, BROTHER, UNCLE, HUSBAND, BOYFRIEND, SON

“One of the main weaknesses of mankind is the average person’s familiarity with the word ‘impossible.’ He knows all the rules that will not work. He knows all the things that cannot be done.” Napoleon Hill

Right now, this very second we literally have hundreds of choices to do anything we want right now.We have the choice to choose our career, the country / countries we live in, the friends we hang out with, how we plan to go through our day and even the food we will eat tonight.

As long as I have my health and my two feet, then I have all I need to make these choices, even if it requires some time and work to get to them. Im at a point in life where every choice I make right now has an impact on my future and the future of many others. Whether I choose to accept this or not it is true.
Right now at this moment I feel that life has its grasp upon me and is guiding me to where I need to be. why should I fight it and go against the momentum?
It sounds funny ( even to me ) but the more I let go of my life and am able to accept that I dont have full control of the actions of others or the twist, turns and obstacles that venture in to our lives,The better my life has become. Im not saying I am rich or that I am the most happy person in the world, but things are coming to me with a great deal of ease, Im starting to listen to myself again now that my head is becoming less filled with hateful and negative thoughts. I feel as if air is being forced in to my lungs making me take in deep breaths of creativity, hope and drive.
The fact is we all only have a certain amount of time in our lives no matter how long or short that may be.This self-discovery that I am experiencing is amazing and I am learning how to give myself to not only other people but most importantly to myself.

I have goals and I plan on making them all real, I have struggled enough in my life now I must live.

Make your list and add to it daily.

I want adventures.
I want to be happy.
I want to see the world. Travel from country to country.
I want to experience different cultures and meet people from all walks to life.
I want to be a man of strength and power in my community.
I want to laugh and have fun with my friends and family.
I want to help others reach their dreams.
I want to be the best father I can be.
I want enough money to live comfortably and not have to worry about how to pay the monthly bills.
I want to be fit and healthy for as long as possible.

List your goals no matter how big or small and make choices that build towards the future person you want to be. Shape your own future stop letting other people design your future for you.
( WE HAVE THE POWER TO DO THIS !!!!! )

Life can guide you at times in to places you may not know or feel comfertable in,

but I have come to see that universe is funny like that.

I'm glad to be back and to let my heart and soul speak my mind.

There is a certain unmistakable moment when, try as we might to overlook it, it becomes clear that things are careening out of control. Often it's triggered by something seemingly tiny like a disapointment, a bad day of sort or just a harmless, little thought that creeps in to your brain. But its true weight hits later when your all alone and you begin to wonder how, exactly, you became the guy who you are, and have become.

My moment came tonight on an otherwise normal Thursday evening when, I was doing the routinely robotic cycle that starts my work schedule at my place of employment.

I have had moments like this a few times in my life usually before big dissions or hours of forced contemplation, But Tonight was different I wasn’t even in the realm of pondering my life, but as if almost blind sided the harsh reality hit me like a brick

Im going to be a father with in two weeks, I am no longer happy with my job, I feel constriced in my carrer growth and why have I wasted so much time and so on. Now not all of thees thoughts were bad just very pure and percice as to my life, its perspective and its direction.

Where are all these thoughts coming from all at once and as I sit to organize my thoughts, thinking with open eyes. I realized it came from a comment a very good friend of mine had said

They said “you need to step out and take a deep breath of freedom and let go of your stress”.

Wow Could it really be just that simple a breath.

I can say that moments like this are actually somewhat liberating. When You can actually look back and forward at all the depressing, gut-wrenching realities of your own life with a somewhat sense of detachment. You judge your self and you choices as an outsider.

My vision is clear as if were I was witnessing a marvelous sunset as a blind man for the first time, it is that vividly clear.

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. (William Shakespeare.)

What is love?

It is one of the most difficult questions of mankind. But no one can give the proper definition of love.
To some Love is friendship set on fire for others Maybe love is like luck. You have to go all the way to find it. No matter how you define it or feel it, love is hard and at most time unexplainable but hey i will give it a shot aleast to my opinion.

Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy / jealousy, nor it boasts itself and it is never proud.
Love protects; preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life.
It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul.
Love should be experienced and not just felt.
The depth of love can not be measured.
Look at the relationship between a mother and a child.
The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all.
Love can't be created nor duplicated it's unique in its many forms.

LOVE IS A CHOICE.

LOVE IS OPENING YOURSELF TO OTHERS.

LOVE IS HONEST AND TRUE.

I feel like love just isn't enough nowadays, nor is it what it used to be.
Love used to be rare enough that it was sought after with the understanding of sacrifice, as opposed to what it is now, a long shot gamble with no money down, no collateral and no interest.
As with anything that has become commercialized, it has been polluted to the point of beyond recognition. Few can really verbalize what Love IS, but there are many things that Love is NOT.

Love isn't an addition of life + love or you + me. Love isn't an afternoon delight, fancy, a stand-in, rebound or a quickly.
Love was never ment to be about self-interest.
It was never about latching to someone for money, survival, assistance or a child.
Love is not about the feeling of security derived from being loved by someone else nor the fulfillment of the desire to be wanted.
Love isn't sex, attraction or the rush of euphoria from fantasy.
Love was never about finding a complement to your self.
It isn't the feeling of being understood to avert the aches of loneliness.
It isn't personal growth or sharing experiences.
It isn't about finding an equal intelligence, mental infatuation, nor sharing ideas.

Love is not the equivalent of its symptoms. Simply, it is a source of Beauty seen in glimpses of memorable experience.

Appreciation

Do you Appreciate the person you are, or the people you truly love.

Their interests their quirks their likes and dislikes ?

Today I started to think about my life and the people who have made an impact upon my life. The more I think the more I realize how each on of them is so unique and special in there own way almost like a snow flake where there is similarities but none are exactly a like. I try to embrace there abnormalities ( and I mean that in a good way ) because that's what makes them who they are, defects and imperfections included.

But then I began to think do the people that say they love me
Appreciate me ?

Appreciate me for my ways and my character or are they just hanging on for the ride because its the right thing to do.
The feeling I feel when I feel accepted an appreciated is un measurable. The way a friend accepts you for you are with out a change. The way a husband and wife enjoy the experiences brought from the character of one another. The acceptance and admiration from a child's eyes as they gaze upon his parents.

That what I want, that feeling because it brings me peace and trust in my heart

I don't ask for much
Just to be appreciated for the man that I am imperfections , interests and all my experiences.

I also think that we don't appreciate the small moments that make our life memorable
And make life worth living

It's not the items you collect, nor the fiances you can acquire not the years you accumulate in your life, It's the memories you cherish and the memories you leave for the ones you love
Appreciate the time the air the life you have and the people you have in it because in a blink of an eye it can all be gone.

Why Is forgiveness so hard ?

to forgive one's enemies.

Forgiveness may be considered simply in terms of the person who forgives including forgiving themselves, in terms of the person forgiven and or in terms of the relationship between the forgiver and the person forgiven.

Most world religions include teachings on the nature of forgiveness, and many of these teachings provide an underlying basis for many varying modern day traditions and practices of forgiveness. Some religious doctrines or philosophies place greater emphasis on the need for humans to find some sort of divine forgiveness for their own shortcomings, others place greater emphasis on the need for humans to practice forgiveness of one another.

BUT I ASK WHY IS FORGIVENESS SO HARD ?

Forgiveness involves recognizing that the person who harmed us is more than just the person who harmed us. He or she is in fact, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, is a human being whose full dimension isn't defined by their foolish decision to harm or wrong us. At its core I believe forgiveness is an acknowledgment that a person who's harmed us still has the capacity for good.

Forgiveness means swallowing your pride and moving forward for a greater good.

How does forgiving others benefit us?

In order to forgive we must let go of our anger.

If we continue to hold onto anger, it often leaks out against others who've committed no crime against us, as well as colors all our experiences, often ruining our ability to feel joy in many aspects of life.

now how does this affect or apply to my life.

From what I see its easy to preach forgiveness, but to implement it in your life is a completely different thing, many people can sell the idea but they are not buying it themselves.

With my son on the way I can truly say the best way to teach forgiveness to my son is in my actions, not in my speech nor my religious beliefs.

All of these things mean nothing yes I said mean nothing if not applied in daily life.

The most righteous man is as wretched as a sinner if he can't teach in his actions and not his empty words.

How far would you go ?

I mean really it's easy to say but how much would you really do for love, life, family, faith and your beliefs.

Would you give your life for another that you loved?

Would you stand for the weak and defenceless with no promise of praise?

Would you be willing to humble your self in the face of pride ?

Would you do anything for you child?

Well it is my opinion Action speaks louder than words.
You can profess love all you want, but when it comes to proving it, some people fall short at the idea of going the extra mile or making sacrifices for the happiness of the people they love.
Love and sacrifices made by ordinary people make them extraordinary.

I would not think twice about dying for my child if the situation called for it.
Dying for your loved one has been epitomized as the ultimate act of love.
I believe, however, that living for the one you love is also just as meaningful.
Living for that person means you’re willing to make sacrifices for the sake of your loved one’s personal growth.

When I profess love to someone, I mean it in every sense of the word.
I love without question or without asking for anything in return.
I would go to the ends of the earth for my them not because they asked but because
it is what i feel is right.

How far would i go boundless, limitless. I would do anything without the slightest hesitation for the ones I love the most. I would do everything to make them happy.
My son and family is my priority.
Spending as much time with them as possible is my priority.

I would make the world stand still when it comes to the ones I love.

So really ask yourself

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO ?

AND HOW FAR WILL THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY LOVE YOU, GO FOR YOU ?

Set in the days of the Mayan civilization,
The cast is largely indigenous non pro actors speaking the prevailing surviving dialect of the Mesoamericans,
"Yes i had to look that up " The move has a lot of subtitles but after the first 10 min you hardly notice.

So why am I blogging about this movie, I am no film critic nor is this movie even remotely new.
For those of you who have not seen this movie, it is very realistic and a bit bloody and Gorey
because it it very true to the time period an lifestyle that the Maya lived.

Now I really did not remember the movie to be as realistic as it was ( I guess the whole of the movie impressed me so much
that I did not focus on the blood and guts)

But anyway I watched the first 35 min or so of this film before
I went to bed and I was just as intrigued as I was the first time I saw this film, but something was different this time.
It's like when you look at an old photo you have seen hundreds of times later in your life and you start to see the background cars and people and at how much things have change and yet you never really noticed till now, type of feeling.

The main character is a young man named Jaguar paw, and he has a pregnant wife and son and lives in a small village that his father is the chief of. ( just giving you the basics don't want to ruin the film for you )

The father and son have a moment where the father tells his son Jaguar paw
"Fear. Deep rotting fear, Fear is a sickness. It will crawl into the soul of anyone who engages it. It has tainted your peace already. I did not raise you to see you live with fear. Strike it from your heart. Do not bring it into our village."

I thought that is so true fear is a sickness and it must be treated.

I continue to watch further and the young man after having this conversation with his father, performs a unselfish brave act to save his family.

He as a father would do anything even if it was to loose his life to save his family and that rung bells in my head and heart that it nearly brought me to tears.

Even in thier non educational tribe socity and the simple lifestyle, there is an unspoken weight of responsibility that fathers have and that i feel I'm developing, of protecting your family at any cost.

WOW 30 mins in and tearing up, this has never happened to me before. ( what the heck is going on ,its just a movie that i have seen before)

And that's when it hit me like a brick it wasn't the movie that change it was the person watching that has changed.
Me, I ,blue has changed and by a lil boy who hasn't even been born yet, is the reason why.

How can a lil person who is only about 2 and half pounds completely dominate the mind , body, heart and soul of a 235 pound man....

But with all these changes in my thoughts and actions I must say that , I'm proud that I am changing no better yet evolving for my son even if i did not realize it.

CHECK OUT AN OLD FILM THAT YOU HAVE ENJOYED AND HAVEN'T SEEN IN A WHILE
AND SEE IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY YOU DID WHEN YOU SAW IT THE FIRST TIME.
( GOOD EMOTIONAL EXERCISE )

so in closing, I recommend this movie 2 thumbs up

WHAT OPPORTUNITY HAVE YOU PLANTED TODAY ?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf4nm8voKqrnaXimU30fdwTbiLOZg7ONICX6GH1BPKiOJ1jUFTcNRPTAAY3S-TaMo6gcUTKYoqD5oB5ACMTAvCIa5x5M_hgLp7mTaXxE6HlB73gy1cWvVW-zPTQwrzzXBPUSMTMhzFAbY/s400/kidandplant.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477801780038678770" />

Have you ever noticed that when opportunity arises, it’s never in “our time”? Rather, it comes at sometimes the most “inopportune” times – meaning that we’re often not prepared to receive it and use it to our full advantage.

Many times, we plant seeds of intention…unintentionally. What I mean by that is sometimes we start thinking about what we want; except when we do, we have planted a seed of intention. Intention turns to action, and action results in an equal reaction. The same holds true for ill thoughts. there are some people who bring negative results into their lives because they plant unhealthy seeds in their minds. If you can think it, it can happen. The whole point of the matter is that whatever you think, you become. So if your true intention and desire is to land the job of your dreams, you will subconsciously begin acting on that thought’s behalf. The same holds true for pessimism and procrastination. If you think that you “can’t” perform a certain job, or “I’ll never own a house,” or “I can’t get that promotion,” etc. — then guess what? You won’t.

Opportunity always comes fast and furious but we have to be ready to receive it. When we plant the seed of intention – for whatever that may be – we must realize that it will come. It may not magically appear overnight, but when opportunity does come knocking at life’s door, you’ve got to be mentally and intuitively prepared by opening your mind to the potential and blessings that are ready to come into your life.
What are you thinking at this moment? are you’re ready to acquire prosperity, wealth, and happiness.
You can’t afford to not be prepared for opportunity. You know that whatever it is that your heart desires that you can attain it. But it begins with a seed of intention, and that intention requires action on your part. How far are you willing to go to land the job you’ve always wanted?

How deep are you willing to dive to find that buried treasure? How long are you going to keep stopping yourself from achieving success? It really boils down to you. You are a walking billboard indicative of your life. What you project is just as important as what you take into your mind’s eye. When your perception of life is in tune with your focus of intention, you begin to rapidly increase your chances at opportunity. Go ahead – plant your seed for opportunities today.

SOMETIMES PEOPLE DO NOT THINK ABOUT WHAT SEEDS THEY PLANT IN THIER LIVES.
JUST A LIL FOOD FOR THOUGHT....

Confront Your Fears, Don't Hold yourself Back

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 261px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha8zWWUsbnUYOztRhKrcy_cUFj_mGaC5ju-8AYFTdpYM_8-EiIh-M83Ic0wdRTH_yZ7HmGYKqIlR2aGVCwKIN9HbbGR3r9Zn6-SRwJs13Bd0xyov8sQ0MxsBdtR8Rw5wYNq1mqZk2TlX4/s400/the_fear.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5475141171185865234" />

The things which we fear the most in life have already happend to us.
Robin Williams, One Hour Photo

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.

Are you a constant worrier? Ever wonder why? The reason behind all your worries is fear. This destructive emotion can wreak havoc in your life. We are all worried from time to time but being constantly worried is a cause of concern because it will only lead to depression. The best advice you can give your self is that, there is no time to worry 'now'! Taking initiative is important, and the best time to do that is now. Otherwise, you will not be able to free your self from all those negative thoughts that plague your mind. As your fear grows due to increasing negativity, you will feel trapped and stuck in a situation in which you could do little besides thinking more and more. Most of us consider, that thinking is a good habit, however excessive thinking will lead you no where. In fact you have take things in your hands

Fear is a negative force that that restricts you from excelling in your life. You don't want to try out new things simply because you are afraid. However, you have to over come this fear barrier. Think of the time you didn't go after that promotion because you feared you were not good enough. Due to fear we restrain ourselves from achieving things in our life. It denies us the gladness and success that we deserve. It keeps us from achieving our goals.

You can deal with your fear with curiosity. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

The word “forgiveness” means different things to different people and is often hard to do. Instead of “forgiveness,” I like the word “insight" (human behavior).
There are many barriers to forgiveness, a few of which are fear, anger, resentment, and depression; many of the same conditions that dissipate when we do forgive.
Is forgiveness a choice?

Can we overcome barriers to forgiveness by pausing before we react to someone or something?
Sometimes quick reactions are in our best interest such as in pulling a child from the path of an oncoming car. Stress in the right dose serves us well. But an overdose is often counter productive as in panicking during a fire in a theatre. Granted, with some circumstances in life forgiveness like grief is a process that should not be accelerated.

Forgiveness is a powerful gift that releases us from the bondage of past failures, hurts and disappointments. It is a principle of success that few discuss in regard to the impact it has on both our personal and professional lives.
I cannot change yesterday, but I can make the choice whether to learn, grow and move on from past mistakes and misfortunes, or allow them to control my emotional well being today and what my attitude will be in the future.
The need for forgiveness in our lives is directly proportional to the degree of which we have failed, been hurt, or victimized. The more I have experienced these destructive encounters the greater degree of forgiveness is needed to mend the damage done.

ASK YOURSELF, CAN I NOT ONLY FORGIVE SOMEONE WHO HAS WRONGED ME
BUT CAN I FORGIVE MYSELF FOR THE WRONG I DO TO MYSELF AND OTHERS.
<link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' is enough, when he finally gets out of his own way and feelings to see the truth no matter how painful it truly is.

How can a man release his harbored anger, aggression and defeat in the presence of love ?

When can we put to bed our toxic pasts, that did nothing but lead us down dead end streets and at times almost take our lives ?<br 30% Tone and 10% words.

Body language is the biggest form non-verbal communication, which is made up of body posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements. We send and interpret all of those without being aware of them. Body language may provide clues about the feelings and attitude of the person we are talking to, it may show aggression towards us, boredom in the conversation, or genuine interest. It can also lose you some money in poker if your not careful. So if body lanuge is so imporant why do we even talk at times ?

Now on to Tone, "Watch your tone with me!” Have you ever been told that as a child or teenager? Our tone has various feelings: anger, frustration, joy, happiness, we may sound distracted or preoccupied, be sarcastic, and all of those will influence how others hear what we are saying and how they will interpret our underlying message. So with out a thought we can change someones reseptive nature just by how we speak .....

I dont entierly belive that 60 / 30 / 10 throry, granted it does have truth to it in a big way but spoken words affect us on a deeper level than any of us can imagine and can affect us for many years, if not for a lifetime.
Think back to our childhood, what words did you hear about yourself or were said to you: beautiful, handsome, smart, clever, champ, winner or ugly, bad, stupid, dummy, good for nothing, loser, these words still linger in the mind many years even lifetimes after they were uttered.
How did they affect your current life?
Did you believe that you can do anything, and you couldn't lose taking risks to achieve more in life, or did you stay back, not wanting to contiune being a loser believing that you will not succeed anyway, so why even try? If you answered ‘‘yes’’ to any of these examples, you understand that oftentimes the people who used those negative words towards us were themselves so insecure in themselves that they used that form of communication to keep us feeling down, for their fears that we may rise higher than them. It is time to reconsider why those beliefs still have strongholds on your life; maybe you believed them then, but you do not have to believe them anymore, so let go of them.
I was called stupid, dumb ass, and what ever other names daily as a child and I in no way feel remotly close to any of these terribe words but it took time for me to really look at myself and find my wealth, my value and to define my self with my own words. See words create pictures in our mind, and those pictures create outward actions. So instead of concentrating on my problems, I like to focus on solutions in my life. Words are powerful tools that can help change our mind and our lives.
They create visions, which can be positive, Use your words to build up yourself and others, for never before and never again will there be another one of you.
Some of the most powerful words I ever spoke were those following “I” or “I am”, If you hear someone say to you “You are stupid” you have the power to either accept it or reject it, now if you hear yourself saying “I am so stupid” you will not have the power to reject it, since it came out of your own mouth. Each word out of your own mouth should be positive, good, and encouraging, to enrich your life, and those of others around you. I see this more and more everyday now with my son on the way, my eyes are open to the fact that words are so much more then sharp ideas, funny jokes or passonatie secrets they are the stones that can elevate a man to greatness or wheight upon his back to his demise..

WORDS CAN BUILD OR DESTROY IT'S OUR CHOICE HOW TO USE THEM..

Circumcision ? Like the clitoris and labial regions of a female the foreskin exists to aid in pleasurable reproduction.
It houses 80-90% of the erotic nerve endings in the penis.
It contains on the inner side, sebaceous glans that produce lubrication during sex and the sheath like nature of the foreskin allows for frictionless, pleasurable sex during full penetration.

As a result of the removal of these vital sebaceous glans, most circumcised males require non natural lubrication during sex and masturbation, and are unable to take part in normal natural human intercourse.
Along side these sebaceous glans are a network of estrogenic sensing structures that aid in arousal and sexual reproduction.
Very little is known about these structures as so many men have had them removed, although scientists are fairly certain that the foreskin is the only place in the body that these particular type of estrogenic sensors exist. There is a great deal of speculation in the medical community that the removal of the foreskin and these sensors could account for some cases of male erectile dysfunction.
Next to the sebaceous glands and the estrogenic sensors are a network of lymph nodes. Like any component of the lymphatic system ,when these lymph nodes are removed during circumcision it permanently disrupts the body’s natural lymphatic system. Doctors attribute heightened susceptibility to infection to the removal of these nodes. As well as affecting the immune system the removal of any part of the lymphatic system can affect the body’s natural circulation system as well.

Delicate structures line the inside of the foreskin and attach it to the penis. With time, sometimes as late as 18 years in age, these structures release and full extension of the penis is possible. Removal of the foreskin tears these fine structures and exposes skin meant to be kept moist, to the air, causing the head of the penis to dry out and loose much of it’s sensitivity sometimes up to 80%

What happens during a circumcision?

First your son is restrained using a device called a circumboard. It looks like a board with four limb restraints in the shape of a baby.
It cradles and restrains your child so that they cannot move.
While your child screams, and they will scream, the doctor will wrap your child in a sheet with a hole, through which he will pull you sons tiny genitals.
He will coat them in an iodine solution to prevent infection. He will them take two clamps and insert them into the sides of your sons foreskin then, taking a third clamp he will “probe” or in actuality, rip, the membrane connecting the foreskin to the penis. When this is complete he will clamp lengthwise down the shaft to the foreskin and using scissors he will make a long gash in the side of the foreskin.
At this time 20% of doctors will administer a topical anaesthetic, the World Health Organization and others believe this is not adequate pain relief for such a painful invasive surgery and insist if the procedure is preformed that an injection of a local anaesthetic is necessary . Then taking a special instrument he will cover the head of the penis and using a cutting/clamping device that looks much akin to a cigar cutter he will pinch off sometimes up to two to three inches of skin, then using a scalpel or sometimes brute force he will sever the remaining foreskin which will then fall away. Many parents who have observed their son’s circumcision have commented that thought their children screamed for the first few minutes they often times quieted down during the cutting and clamping procedure, with some parents reporting the eyes of their sons rolling back in their heads. This is not because they are no longer in pain. It is because you just cut off half their penis and they are going into shock.

Can a circumcision go wrong? It is reported that every year aprox. 250 boys will die from complications due to circumcision, in North America alone. That doesn’t count the number of botched circumcisions that take place every year that boy’s live through. Everything from penile extension problems in adulthood from the shortening of the penis’s outer skin, severe and painful curvature of the penis to more serious injuries such as the severing of the urinary tract and the infection of staphylococcus bacteria in the surgical site which can cause life long damage to the genital region.

So with all that said the biggest argument I have to circumcise my son is
" Woman might not like it or make fun of him "

I think it's highly judgemental and ignorant of some people (aka women to say uncircumcised is unnatural) for these women to think they have to right to judge natures work. Wake up it's natural and not exactly the guy's fault that he's was born this way, they should be ashamed of themselves.
That's the same as a man laughing at you because you don't have big perfect breast implants, that can be easily fix with cosmetic surgery or for men to sit and ridicule the size or shape of you vaginal lips aka labia, that is meant to be there to protect your vagina.

To be truly honest, I find comfort in the fact that whatever decision me and his mother choose will be correct and if for that reason it happens to turn away or disgusts a woman, maybe that's not the type of woman I would want for my son.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blueyorkcity.blogspot.com/2010/04/circumcision-clip-or-no-clip.html' title='Circumcision ? It takes someone special to be a dad.

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!
~Lydia M. Child

So as time passes and I come ever that much closer to becoming a father, I am starting to think more about my own father and our father son relationship.

you ever noticed how boys want to be just like their dad's when they are young, nothing like their father's when they are teens, and then become just like their father's for better and worse when they become adults?

This could not be more evident than in the relationship between my father and I. From my evolution of childhood through adult, the predictable life stages that occurred in my life that kept us apart and the challenges that keep us close vary as my view of him over the years, I have viewed and related to my father in many different ways in different stages in my life.

See as children, sons idolize their dads and think they can do anything. This is most often demonstrated by a son’s imitation of his father’s behavior by walking like him, talking like him or wearing his clothes or shoes. At this age, a son wants so much to please his father and receive his approval and acceptance. As for me I idolized my father from afar, my parents divorced when I was very young ( too young for me to remember ) So I would create pictures and depictions of my father from bits of stories that fell from dinner table conversations that I was too young to hear mixed with vivid glimpses of old photos and tales of his manhood, courage and psychical strength. My father was a god to me as a child and I would anxiously await his arrival when he would bless me with his seldom found presents. weather if it was because of his personal life, his jail sentence or his drug addiction my fathers touch or voice was rarely seen, heard or felt in my early childhood.

As a teen, I experienced a period of discord in which conflict was the central theme of my life. I often rejected the expectations, values and directions that my father had embraced and I took on more non-traditional philosophies, placing me regularly at odds with him. He had seen the error in his ways, in not only his life but in my life and was attempting to be the father that I needed and deserved but at this time in my life I didn't want a father.
Resentment or even the fear of depending on the man who was my absent "fallen god like" father was great, but he buried his head and continued to try and better
himself as a man and a father. He educated him self, he separated himself from his former life,he found respect for himself as a man. and even as a rebellious, resentful and emotionally scared teen that I was at the time, I couldn't help but take note of his growth. My father was becoming the dad I wanted, right before my eyes (yes it took years but he never quit ) He continued to build that father son relationship that we were so very much lacking.

As a young adult, My father took me in to his home, when mom couldn't handle me anymore and in this short year that I lived with my father from the age of 16 to 17
( the most time we spent together in my life ) He taught me many things about being and becoming a man strength, honesty , Faith, humility and The most important thing that my dad showed me was that only a real man can be a father.

See all men fall and make mistakes but only a man can rise, My father fell but he rose from the ashes of his mistakes and atoned for every sin and lie he told for every second lost of my childhood, he took responsibility for his actions and withstood the pain of facing his past shortcomings as a man face to face till only then, to move forward as a father.

and now I am to be a father to a son.

To successfully pass through these stages of idolizing, discord, evolving, acceptance and becoming a legacy, is an “ideal” goal for every Son to a father.

Let me become your legacy Dad, for my son and I will pick up what you have begun
and hold it high for the world to see, This legacy was not made of riches and soft times but forged from the bottoms of uncertainty, mistrust and scrutiny of naysayers to rise to the highest points of trust, respect, love and prosperity.

Thank You
Rev. Dr. Bruce C Rivera PH.D. aka my DAD

From a Son to a Boy to a Man to a Father.

A son : is a male offspring; a boy or man in relation to his parents.

My heart seems to beat a little faster these days
Maybe it's the thought of my life changing in so many ways

I've heard so many tales of sleepless nights
And tests of patience taken to new heights

Yet my excitement grows as we count down each week
For I know soon we will finally meet

I have a little fear I must admit
Will I be good at it?

I daydream of baseball games and fishing trips
And passing along life's little tips

Will you be tall? What color is your hair?
Do you like peas? What will you wear?

Can I slay the monster under your bed?
Will we be able to build a sled?

How will I explain the birds and the bees?
Oh, I must have a million of these

Answers to questions, questions to ponder
Things to see, places to wonder

Together, we'll be the ultimate team
Limited only by what we can dream

So as the weeks are counted down, I anxiously await
That Oh - so - wonderful date

When all of the waiting is over and done
And I can hold you in my arms, My Son.

So I'm gonna have a son...... still trying to wrap my head around the thought.
Being a father is a monumentus event in any mans life no matter the sex of the child, but to be blessed with the opportunity to raise a man in a time when there is a severe shortage of real men.
Especially Latino men, the fact is that too many Latinos are becoming bastardized hollow vessels of what a man is and should be.

Compassion, masculinity, courage, integrity, honesty, selflessness and sensitivity is the recipe.
The make up of a real man is not gauged by the amount of woman he can bed nor the amount of money or wealth he can obtain its not the car he drives or even the size of his genitals, none of this makes or shows a mans worth.

To be un hombre ( A True Man ), is the best compliment a man can receive. Un hombre verdadero is a true hero to his family and to his community, One who overcomes adversity and always trys to do the right thing not for a moment but for a life time, A pillar of hope that other men and boys can follow, An image that woman and young girls can view and see that self esteem, education ,self worth and self respect should be praised and not neglected based on the dimensions of there sexual extremities.

A real man is not threatened by cooking, cleaning, helping with the dishes or even being a father, he doesn't run when faced with fear and adversity. A man meets it head on as to eliminate, destroy and over come for the those who choose to follow
in his steps. A man is a leader and that's what young boys should be taught !!!

Tattoos Body Art or Body Destruction

So Yesterday I spent three and a half hours adding to my existing tattoo and getting that much closer to obtaining my sleeve.
I sat there watching the progress as my tattoo artist worked away, got me thinking about body art and the idea of tattoos and how people feel about them as a whole.
Our bodies, and the way we see them, are changing. medical technology has gradually been getting us accustomed to the idea that the body is something we shouldn't fear tinkering with. This, in turn, almost certainly has an effect on the way modern society views tattoos and body art. In the eyes of some traditional-minded individuals, tattooing and piercing are wrong because they betray the anatomical design granted to us by the Creator / God / whom or whatever else they choose to follow. Despite the obvious problems with utilizing this belief as an argument against body art and modification like ummm (makeup, braces, fake nails, fake breast, Brazilian but lifts ETC…) mothers, grandmothers, and conservative religious zealot's everywhere love to utilize it as a justification for their disdain for body art. Rather than making even the slightest attempt to understand why people love adoring themselves so, the whole concept is immediately dismissed as wrong by an outdated, closed-minded vision of the human body as a finished product. But this view is slowly changing as I look around and see that just about every form of body art can be found just about everywhere.

The reasons we acquire body art are quite varied, ranging from simple fulfillment of aesthetic reasons to reminding one of a lost family member to rebellion against standards of appearance. What remains the same in each case, however, is that the art provides a vehicle through which to improve our lives. Because the effects of body art are so personal and unique to the bearer, people who have no body art may have a hard time accepting that tattoos have any value whatsoever. To them tattoos are a waste of time, money, and allegedly good skin. destruction

WHY DO I TATTOO ?

Some tattoos remind me of what’s important in life,to wake every morning and see the tattoos that I have chosen to wear on my body, reinforcing the mindset that led me to the choice in the first place everyday is not only a constant reminder but also a sobering view to what makes me who I am . I also feel I have a visual living depiction of the paths I have taken in my life and the places I have been, every tattoo is inked with memories(a map of my life lived ).
Then off course there is my love of art and my need for visual pleasures daily.
I walk with a gallery on my sleeve no pun intended. lol

No Charity No Mercy.

He who has no charity deserves no mercy.
English Proverb

Charity brings to life again those who are spiritually dead.
Thomas Aquinas

Charity, the practice of benevolent giving. Such a simple idea and concept benevolent giving. (help for those in need that you are able to assist with no expectation of anything in return)

Today I realized that this simple idea that I thought was not a choice but a responsibility in my life is not shared with some of the most important people in my life.
As a child I was never wealthy or even well off but I was taught the gift of charity I'm not talking about writing a big ole' check, I'm talking about giving of yourself and your time if even for just for a moment.
People constantly waste their minutes, hours and days in a self loving circle that helps no one but themselves. Whatever happen to the school of thought that helping your neighbor even if you don't like them, was just the right thing to do.
Charity is big in my life, the fulfillment I feel to find it not robbery to lend a helping hand is an indescribable feeling that I think everyone should feel at least once in their life and not because it's the in thing to do, or because your friends are doing it, but because it comes form your heart. I think at how charity has become a chore for today's children and I think to myself how do I help and teach my child "that is on the way" to acquire the habit of charity,
I want to teach my child that charity is not reserved only for emergencies.
I want them to appreciate that reaching out to others in need is a way of life, rather than a moment in time when a catastrophic disaster occurs. Remember, while you are giving to others, you are giving your children important messages about your beliefs concerning the spirit of giving.

"What you do comes back to you"

The harvest that you reap depends on the kind of seeds you sow. If you sow corn, you will not reap olives. There is No better example then the parent child relationship,
as for me, I will plant the the best seeds for my son or daughter to reap the finest that I can give ,Whatever I give out to others, The universe will eventually give back to me and my family. This is the basic nature of life:

"YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW."
Present moment

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Buddha

I start today's entry with this quote, it seems only fitting on this rainy gloomy day where so many people lock themselves in their homes waiting and hoping for the sun shine to arrive that they miss out on the moment. It has become a terrible trend of wanting and striving for what we don't have and viewing our surroundings as never really being to perfect or not perfect enough, Take notice of the world around you. No matter what you're doing, try to find something beautiful around you. Maybe on your way to work or school, you go over a beautiful bridge, or you get a view of the sunrise behind the city buildings. Realizing these small things can bring life and happiness even to the most boring or routine days. Be thankful for those little things.Live in the present moment enjoy the life that you have been given. When you find yourself wishing for something you don't have, or wishing your life would be different, start your quest for your wish by being thankful for what is already in your life. This will bring you back to the present moment. Make a list of what you are thankful for right now even if all you can think of is that you are alive and can breathe. You don't want to miss the gifts right in front of you, because you are always looking beyond what is in the present moment to what once was or what might be. If you are thankful for what is, you'll be happy to be in the moment instead of some place else.

We need variety in our lives ups and downs, sun shine and rain, you cant truly enjoy your triumphs with out the taste of downfall.

Success can never be attained if you never faced and over come failure.

Now I'm gonna be a dad. I for one am a lil tired of it and its only been 4 months. I'm looking at the whole process of having / raising a child and realize. I'm tired just thinking about being a dad!

BUT WITH ALL THIS SAID, I'M MORE EXCITED THEN EVER TO BE A DAD.

I COUNT THE DAYS TILL THE DAY I FINALLY GET TO MEET MY CHILD.

I really want this blog to serve as not only a outlet / journey log for me,
but also serve as a bit of insight for other first time fathers to be.

Wish me luck on my way to being the best dad I can be.

Please feel free to comment on any of my posts to give me your feedback.

Blue -new dad in the making

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blueyorkcity.blogspot.com/2010/03/now-im-gonna-be-dad-so-whats-next.html' title='Now I'm gonna be a dad.
