I can remember a time, I was ten or eleven, when i had gone to the library in our small town and had picked out a book. When I got to the counter, the librarian lifted her eyebrow and phoned my mother at the bank (My mother was a Bank manager) to ask if it was OK if I took out the book I wanted.

It was.

You see, I grew up reading and quickly ran out of what most people find children appropriate books so I moved on the what I had available, My fathers Louis L’Amour westerns, and my mothers historical romance novels.

Completely unrelated, My husband calls romance novels “Female Porn”. That super amuses me.

Back to the point. I have been reading books set in Victorian times since I was quite young. Which is important because it meant I was totally at home with the main characters of this book.

Dawn of the Dreadfuls is a book about Zombies, set in the early 1900’s. The heroines are struggling with both trying to be proper and dutiful young women, and trying to save the world from zombies.

In a nutshell, it is a very good book, and I urge you to read it.

pee ess : Dude. I totally got a free copy of the book to review. Full disclosure and all that rot. But I’m bitchy. If I hadn’t liked the book, I would have said so!

First up is a set of figurines Robins husband bought her, just for fun. It’s a great colorful shot. And then there  is mine. While everyone else played rockband, which is their idea of fun, I played dress up with the baby, MY idea of fun!

Did you ever notice that if I shoot portrait, Robin shoots landscape, If I shoot landscape she shoots portrait. Why is that?

A while back, I gave Micah a black eye. See, my arm was stuck under the pillow and I, half asleep, was tugging it out. Unfortunately, it was Really Stuck, so I had to pull really hard. Unfortunately again, when it came unstuck, it came unstuck in the direction of Micah’s eye, and well. Yeah.

Last night, Micah was moving in bed, Just as I was rolling over, Both of us more asleep than awake, When he bashed me in the chin with his elbow. (And it fucking hurt!)

If this isn’t proof that we need more practice sleeping, I don’t know what is.

I wonder if I can get a doctors note prescribing mandatory sleep-ins?

I had a lot of fun with this weeks theme, I found myself watching everywhere I was, looking for anything that could be a window. I built a lego house with windows, set up lights inside it and took pictures of that. I had Logan sit by the window on a sunny day and took pictures of the reflection of the window in his eyes, I simply..had fun.

I do like Robin’s photo (top) much more than mine, but hey, I did OK too.

Im spread pretty thin right now, I look after the girls 12 to 14 hours a day, and I’m on facebook a lot. I have a few other blogs needing tlc from me right now and have been neglecting this one (

• I just noticed someone made a pyramid out of pop cans on the counter, probably means its time to take out the recycling, eh?

• I’m really looking forward to tomorrows diptych. or Wednesdays. Whatever, the days all kind of blend in together now, I’m sure robin will remind me on the proper day.

• Logan went to see his pediatrician who got all doctorly on us and made an appointment for him to see an neurologist …except. Logan hasn’t had a single headache since the referral appointment. What does that mean?

• I checked out this “walking with the dinosaurs” (warning auto play music on this site) thing that is coming to town on the 4th, but even with the worst seats, its 185 bucks for the five of us to go. I’d rather pay the Phone, cable and Internet bill for that, thank you very much.

• Logan has not thrown up in a week. I think we should throw him a party to celebrate.

• We finally saw avatar, I really enjoyed it. I love 3D so I am pretty easy to please

* I even stole her picture. I went to her Photography Blog and took a screen cap and uploaded it here. Why? becuase I couldn’t make the two pictures fit side by side, THAT’S why.

Once again I was scrambling last minute to do this diptych. Robin emailed me last week asking me to pick a theme. I didn’t do that until late yesterday afternoon. Because I suck.

As my good friend Gwen told me : Anonymity + Audience = Total Dickwad

Technically, Even I am hiding behind a thin veil of anonymity, with my Bluepaintred pseudonym.  The difference in a screen name, and a fake name, is that I have a home base where people can reach me, where I can be found, my home, so to say.

Something happened today, and not even to me, that really upset me. Its presumptuous of me to assume that the person who cowardly hid behind their screen will ever read this, but that won’t stop me from taking a stand.

There are rules for everything in life, even being anonymous.

To start.

If you are already hiding behind your fake non identity, then at least have the guts to own the words you are saying. Stop hiding behind a crowd by saying things like “People are saying…”

NO. People are not saying things, YOU are, even if you are hiding who you are, YOU are the one writing hateful things. Own it.

Second of all. You are a cowardly bitch. You are hateful and in your life, something is lacking. That you feel the need to bring someone down, that the need is SO strong that you will go to great lengths – such as creating a fake email, well. It’s sad.

Pitiful even.

Right now, it’s not too serious – you will note I am still functioning, after all. The heating element is gone from the machine but it still makes coffee. I have been making coffee and pouring it into a carafe to keep it warm and my father in law plans on looking at it sometime later this week.

personally, I doubt that it is fixable becuase earlier this afternoon the dishwasher was making a really finny noise., I went into the kitchen to see what was going on and pulled a piece of saran wrap for the bottom of the dishwasher. It was at that time that I smelled kind of a bury smell, but wasn’t able to figure out where it was coming from – which really? that’s kinda scary.

I had checked and double checked the dishwasher to see if any pf the plastic was still there or worse, on teh heating element thingy and had found nothing. Shortly after that Micah came home and realised that the coffee pot was no longer working. Now I figure the bury smell was coming from the pot.

I hope its not a wiring thing and I am still able to use it to make coffee without burning the house down.

My inlaws brought me home a sweet ass pair of socks from the states and I cannot wait to put them up on Socks ‘N Paws for you all to see.

Again, please, if you have some awesome cool socks, or a neighbor with wicked neat socks, or even if you dog or cat has a sweet set of socks, please for the love of Blog, take a picture of them and send them to me!

Both of us have been having a rough time lately, and even though it is just a word, just a photo of an idea, going out in search of calm, having to keep my eyes open for the chance to photograph calm, was in itself a calming activity.

So. Presenting :  Calm,  And I would love to know, in the comments, by phone email or twitter : What is your idea of calm? When you are restless, when you heart is heavy, where do you go? What do you do?

I love robins photo, especially the blue tones. Driving down an empty, beautiful snowy road would be calming.

My Photo is of course of the bathtub, lit only by candles. I’ve got a book there, but technically, I wouldn’t be reading just by candle light because my eyes are getting worse.  I love the dark, or near dark, with hot water all around me.
