A Pre-Formed bra won't add volume to the bust

There are commonly two types of pre-formed bra. There is a smooth cup, which is very popular as a t-shirt bra, and there is the more elaborately embroidered and embellished type. Women choose pre-formed bras for all sorts of reasons; they provide coverage over the nipple area and won’t cause irritation like some lace bras can; they give a smooth line and an even look if you are a little fuller on one side of the bust than the other, and, if you get a plunge style, they can give a terrific cleavage. The main reason women don’t choose pre-formed bras is because of the common misconception that they will make you appear larger. This is especially true of ladies who are a D cup or above, and yet, generally, the fuller busted you are, the better these bras look. In a stark contrast to a padded bra, a pre-formed bra doesn’t have padding – they are usually made from a thin material and they are designed to only hold their own shape, rather than adding volume to your bust. Pre-formed bras are also commonly known as spacer bras, 3D molded bras, formed bras or contoured bras. The best way to tell the difference between a padded bra and a pre-formed bra is to feel slightly above the underwire in the cup – if you can feel a ‘step’ of padding or fabric, it is a padded bra. If all you can feel is the shape of the cup, it’s pre-formed.

When you try a pre-formed bra for the first time, it will probably feel a little strange. Rather than the fabric fitting around your bust as with a regular soft cup bra, you will have to fill the cup space within the bra. If your bust is small, or you find that you’re fuller at the bottom of the bust rather than at the top (very common in ladies who have breastfed), there might not be enough definition in the bust to fill the top of the cup. It’s important to remember that like most other bras, pre-formed bras come in different shapes. It’s very common to find plunge bras, but there are also balconette bras available too, which are cut lower on the bust. This might be a better shape to try if you’re not as full at the top of the breast.

As with all other bras, you should check to make sure that the backband is snug but not uncomfortably tight when fastened on the loosest hook. With a pre-formed bra, it is also extremely important to make sure that there is no ‘bulge’ at the side of the cup. Some women will find that even if they’re filling the main cup perfectly, they have an excess bulging from the side. If this is the case, it’s worth trying a larger cup size, but it might be that the bust is too wide for that particular style. A full cup bra with a 3-part sectional cup is ideal for this bust shape, but we’ll cover that in another article soon.

A well fitting pre-formed bra can make all the difference to your clothes, too.  If you wear a lot of t-shirt style tops or tops and dresses which are made from jersey cotton or linen, it’s very easy to see lines left by lace or seams through them. A smooth pre-formed bra will give lift and definition to your bust whilst sitting perfectly and invisibly underneath your clothes.

Our big news this week is the arrival of the Lise Charmel Lingerie Dolce Desir and Fashion Nautica collections. Both of these collections are stunning – the Dolce Desir is a padded bra with lovely polka dot detailing, and the Fashion Nautica is a sexy half cup with monochrome stripes.

Also, we were lucky enough to go to the Moda trade show two weeks ago, where we did lots of buying for A/W 2012. What we bought is still a secret, but we can assure you that it’s all VERY gorgeous indeed

In other news, we were delighted to meet Mathieu Grodner yesterday in our shop. A thoroughly charming man, he is the son of Simone Perele President Phillipe Grodner. We are currently kicking ourselves for forgetting to take a picture of him to put on here – but trust us, he was lovely We were very excited to be able to tell him how much we adore Simone Perele Lingerie and we are looking forward to stocking more of their gorgeous collections in the future.

Something very new and very gorgeous has just arrived from Implicite Lingerie this morning too – but we’re not telling what it is More soon….

Finally found the time to make a brew and write this post to let you know what’s been happening at Blush recently. After a very busy and cheery summer, we’re very happy to be moving into Autumn. Leafy Cheshire is become distinctly less leafy as the wind gets stronger, but it’s the season for gorgeous new deliveries in time for Christmas.

We’ve just taken delivery of the Simone Perele Alize collection, and it is utterly gorgeous (there’ll be handbags at dawn if certain people don’t put it down!)  In fact, we’ve had a really positive response to all the Simone Perele lingerie that we’ve been showing and you can see it all for yourself here: Simone Perele Lingerie We’ve had top-up deliveries in the Nina in Black and the Nina in Ink as well, as they are always popular in the run up to Christmas.

In other news, we have received our delivery of Panache Evie Liaison Basques in black and pale pink, and they are flying out! There aren’t many Basques available up to a H cup, and these are really lovely. They can be seen here along with the other collections from Panache Lingerie

There will be more to report very soon, but I have to go and sort out another big box that just arrived…

Well, we had a fantastic response to our new website, www.blushbargainbras.com,  and we’re grateful to each and every person who has visited: whether it was to place an order or just to say hello and give us some feedback. In fact, we were so busy that our website got a little exhausted and broke! Some of you may have tried to make a purchase but found that an error message kept appearing when you tried to register an account, order as a guest or log into an existing account, and we’re really sorry if this has caused frustration and inconvenience. We are very pleased to announce, however, that this problem has now been resolved and it’s all up and working again beautifully. Now all I have to do is go and put some more stock up there…

There has been much hilarity at Blush HQ this morning, and we think it might be the stress of launching the new website that has caused Pam to sit at her desk, cherry red, laughing hysterically at the word ‘moo’. Or she might just be insane. Either way, a new website has been launched and we’re just itching to tell you all about it.

For a couple of years, we’ve used Ebay to clear our end of line items after they come off the website, but there have been a couple of drawbacks to this. Firstly, it takes an inordinate amount of time to list new items and maintain previous listings on Ebay. Secondly, Ebay is quite an expensive platform to use, and thirdly, not everybody likes or trusts Ebay. So, after mulling the idea over with a hot pot of tea and a packet of biscuits, we decided to launch a second website just for sale items. We’ve called it www.blushbargainbras.com and it’s here now for your delectation and delight. Whether you’re looking for a new set of undies or you need to replace a favourite piece, everything that we have on sale will be listed on this site. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of time to list all the sale items that we’ve accumulated over the years, so please do keep checking back to see what’s new. If you’re looking for anything in particular in the meantime, please just give us a call or send us an email and we’ll see if we can help.

In other news, we now have the brand new Simone Perele Aura collection in stock. This is a gorgeous strapless bra with removable bean bag enhancers, so you can still have a bit of oomph while enjoying smooth lines and no straps. Traditionally, when Macclesfield was full of mills and factories, the town would empty for an entire two weeks, anyone left behind would find it pretty difficult to find anything open.

In recent years this was sadly neglected, but now all that has changed; a group of lovely people decided that it was time to bring Barnaby back to life and put Macclesfield back on the map.

A weekend of street entertainment, theatre, music, poetry and much more – right here in Macclesfield this coming weekend 17th to the 19th June 2011.

Dave, our resident Webmaster & I.T. guru, has launched his very own lingerie blog.

The ‘Man in Lingerie‘ is already a big hit and is being commented on by many of our customers, both men & women.  A light-hearted, yet informative look at lingerie from a man’s perspective.

When we bought the new shop a few years ago, little did we know that we were also getting a couple of sitting tenants.

We have grown accustomed to the rattling of hangers and the things that mysteriously go missing from time to time, but when one of our guests puts in an actual appearance it still manages to scare us half to death!

Last night was no exception, the little old lady who makes an appearance on the first floor, seemed to be very interested in a rail full of Prima Donna bras.  She was dressed in 1920′s style clothing, so there is a possibility that she had seen them, even back in her day.

When we moved in to the new shop, four years ago, we actually saw a gentleman walk across the landing and down the stairs.  Pam raised the alarm, as she thought we had an intruder, but a full search unveiled no one at all.  Since that time we have had plenty of contact.  Should we call TAPs?
