What is Avtar International Film Fest 2010?

Avtar International Film Fest 2010, a film festival organized yearly by the School of Communication, Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science. Our basic aim is to promote, showcase and reveal hidden talents among young visualizers, in an attempt to recognize and appreciate creativity and inventiveness. Have a passion for color? Art hysteria is our underlying theme for the year 2010. Avtar International Film Fest is to be held on March 13th.

Nokia + Intel = MeeGo (OS)

Intel and Nokia have merged forces in an attempt to increasing mobile competition from gaints like Google, Apple, and Microsoft. The two companies have merged their mobile OSes into one entity: MeeGo

Now speaking what MeeGo is?

MeeGo is a merger of Nokia’s Maemo OS and Intel’s Moblin OS, both of which are Linux-based. Maemo is the platform that runs the Nokia N900, while Moblin runs on phones such as the LG GW990 and netbooks from Foxconn, Acer, and others.

The duos will utilize Nokia’s Ovi Store for its apps., and MeeGo is not limited with mobile phones only, but is intended to work on netbooks, tablets, and televisions as well.

The Big Merge: A Message from Intel and Nokia

Still, Nokia isn’t giving up without a fight. We’ll have to wait and see what the two companies come up with later this year.

Today Orkut have Changed their logo to Orkut Carnival Doodle. Orkut is celebrating the Brazil's Carnival wordwide. Celebrations can be found all over Brazil, from parades in small towns to the samba schools and wild street parties of major cities like Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and Recife. How To Speed Up Mozilla Firefox

Today i would like to share you friends an easy trick to speed up your Mozilla Firefox. Please note that if you do not have firefox as your default browser, I advise you to get it immediately. It is faster and more efficient than every browser out there. It is obtainable at mozilla.org/firefox.

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Now restart your browser, if you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

New Orkut layout now with Themes

The older version has themes like Christmas, Winter, New year, Fireworks, Independent India etc… It has been only few months since now many of us have started using the newer layout version of Orkut. In the beginning New Orkut offered us only few colors, later they added up a bunch more to it. But now they have come with the themes for the New Orkut.

So far the New Orkut has 18 stunning themes. Basically they are been categorized into Abstract patterns, Celebrations, Fun, Mood and Emotions.

So to apply these new themes, you must be in New Orkut layout. Scroll down your mouse next the color palettes that you used to change the colors, where you could find out link to new themes page.

Then just select a theme by clicking preview mode.

Thus it goes in a preview mode, if you are satisfied with it, then accept the theme by clicking ok button.

Use the Orkut share button on the top left to share this post with all your Orkut friends. Do also follow us on Twitter @manojvmathew.

Add Google Buzz This Button to Blogger, Wordpress and Websites

It has been now three days since Google launched Google Buzz service. Besides Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon etc… now internet users have got another site to share posts with each other. So far Google hasn’t officially started providing any sort of scripts for adding up the Google Buzz this button for sites. This blogpost basically explain you how to add a "Buzz this" button to every post on your blogger blog. But, you can add this script to any other website if you know basics of HTML and CSS style sheets.

Go to layout then Edit HTML from dashboard in blogger account.

Click on Expand widget templates at right top side of an editor.

Locate there data:post.title/>

Download the Script

Now, copy and paste code that you have downloaded, after data:post.title/> and then click on preview to check if everything works fine. If no, then check for uncompleted tags else click on Save template.

Now, your readers can share posts in Google Buzz without moving from your post.

102 Google Tricks That Will Save You Time in School

With classes, homework, and projects–not to mention your social life–time is truly at a premium for you, so why not latch onto the wide world that Google has to offer? From super-effective search tricks to Google hacks specifically for education to tricks and tips for using Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar, these tricks will surely save you some precious time.

Search Tricks
These search tricks can save you time when researching online for your next project or just to find out what time it is across the world, so start using these right away.

Convert units. Whether you want to convert currency, American and metric units, or any other unit, try typing in the known unit and the unknown unit to find your answer (like "how many teaspoons in a tablespoon" or "10 US dollars in Euros").
Do a timeline search. Use "view:timeline" followed by whatever you are researching to get a timeline for that topic.
Get around blocked sites. If you are having problems getting around a blocked site, just type "cache:website address" with website address being the address of the blocked site to use Google’s cached copy to get where you are going.
Use a tilde. Using a tilde (~) with a search term will bring you results with related search terms.
Use the image search. Type in your search word, then select Images to use the image search when trying to put a picture to your term.
Get a definition. If you want a definition without having to track down an online (or a physical) dictionary, just type "definition:word" to find the definition of the word in your results (i.e.: "definition: serendipity" will track down the definition of the word "serendipity").
Search within a specific website. If you know you want to look up Babe Ruth in Wikipedia, type in "site:wikipedia.org Babe Ruth" to go directly to the Wikipedia page about Babe Ruth. It works for any site, not just Wikipedia.
Search within a specific kind of site. If you know you only want results from an educational site, try "site:edu" or for a government site, try "site:gov" and your search term to get results only from sites with those web addresses.
Search for a specific file type. If you know you want a PDF (or maybe an MP3), just type in "filetype:pdf" and your search term to find results that are only in that file type.
Calculate with Google. Type in any normal mathematical expressions to get the answer immediately. For example, "2*4" will get you the answer "8."
Time. Enter "what time is it" and any location to find out the local time.
Find a term in a URL. This handy trick is especially useful when searching blogs, where dates are frequently used in the URL. If you want to know about a topic for that year only and not any other year, type "inurl:2009" and your keyword to find results with your keyword in URLs with 2009 in them.
Use Show Options to refine your search. Click "Show Options" on your search result page to have access to tools that will help you filter and refine your results.
Search for a face. If you are looking for a person and not just their name, type "&imgtype=face" after the search results to narrow your results to those with images of faces.

Google Specifically for Education
From Google Scholar that returns only results from scholarly literature to learning more about computer science, these Google items will help you at school.

Google Scholar. Use this specialized Google search to get results from scholarly literature such as peer-reviewed papers, theses, and academic publishers.
Use Google Earth’s Sky feature. Take a look at the night sky straight from your computer when you use this feature.
Open your browser with iGoogle. Set up an iGoogle page and make it your homepage to have ready access to news stories, your Google calendar, blogs you follow in Google Reader, and much more.
Stay current with Google News. Like an electronic clearinghouse for news, Google News brings headlines from news sources around the world to help you stay current without much effort.
Create a Google Custom Search Engine. On your own or in collaboration with other students, put together an awesome project like one of the examples provided that can be used by many.
Collect research notes with Google Notebook. Use this simple note-taking tool to collect your research for a paper or project.
Make a study group with Google Groups. Google Groups allows you to communicate and collaborate in groups, so take this option to set up a study group that doesn’t have to meet face-to-face.
Google Code University. Visit this Google site to have access to Creative Commons-licensed content to help you learn more about computer science.
Study the oceans with Google Earth 5. Google Earth 5 provides information on the ocean floor and surface with data from marine experts, including shipwrecks in 3D.
Learn what experts have to say. Explore Knol to find out what experts have to say on a wide range of topics. If you are an expert, write your own Knol, too.

Google Docs
Google Docs is a great replacement for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, so learn how to use this product even more efficiently.

Use premade templates. Use these 50 pre-made templates to track spending, keep up with your health, and much more.
Collaborate on group projects. Google Docs allows for real-time collaboration, so make easy work for everyone next time you have a group project due.
Use keyboard shortcuts. Use this handy list of keyboard shortcuts to save lots of time while using Google Docs.
Create online surveys for research projects. Quickly and easily create online surveys for any research project that requires feedback from others. The answers are saved to your Google Docs account.
Add video to your presentation. Learn how to seamlessly add video to your Google Docs page to really give your presentation or project a boost.
Use the school year calendar template. Have an easy to use school year calendar through Google Docs by following these instructions.

Gmail
The super-popular Gmail is full of fun and fast ways to make your life and communications easier.

Use the Tasks as a to-do list. Use the Tasks available in Gmail as a way to stay on top of assignments, exams, and project due dates.
Use the Archive feature. One of the great features of Gmail is that it allows you to archive emails to get them out of your inbox, then you can use the search feature to find them if you need them again.
Highlight mail with labels. Use labels to mark your messages. You can find them easily while in your inbox and do a search for all the messages with that label after you archive them.
Never forget to attach a file. By signing up for the Labs, you can select to have the Forgotten Attachment Detector. This feature notices if you have typed something about an attachment in the body, but are sending without actually attaching anything–a great tool to save time and embarrassment.
Use keyboard shortcuts. Go to Settings and enable keyboard shortcuts so you can perform common tasks at the touch of just one or two keys.
Add multiple attachments. Use the Control (or Cmd on Macs) and Shift keys to select more than one file to attach to your email at one time.
Use the https option. Google recommends using this option if you use your Gmail in public places like a dorm or coffee shop to add an extra bit of protection to your Internet activities.
Incorporate Google Calendar and Docs on your Gmail page. Have access to recent documents used in Google Docs and get an agenda of upcoming activities you have on Google Calendar with small boxes added to your Gmail page. Go to Labs to select this option.
Add a "Waiting for Response" label. If you have emails in your inbox that you are holding until someone gets back to you, creating this label keeps you from forgetting to follow up on it later.
Use Canned Responses. If you find yourself writing the same type of email over and over, use the Canned Responses feature in the Labs to create a template that you you can use without having to type out the entire email every time.
Consolidate email accounts. If you have a Gmail account, an account through school, and any other account you are juggling separately, combine them all into Gmail to cut down on time spent checking all those accounts.
Use AIM in Gmail. If you use AIM to IM friends or partners on projects, add it to the chat feature already in Gmail to have access to both.

Google Calendar
Save yourself some time by keeping track of appointments, assignments, and more with Google Calendar.

Sync up with others using iCal or Sunbird. Google lets you sync your calendar with others using Apple iCal or Mozilla Sunbird.
Customize reminders. Set reminders in your Google Calendar so that you never forget an appointment again. Choose from email, pop-up, or SMS reminders and even set when the reminder comes.
Learn some basic keyboard shortcuts. Change from daily to weekly to monthly view, compose a new event, and more with these simple shortcuts.
Use Quick Add. Click on Quick Add and type the day and time and what you are doing to have the calendar create the event with the correct time and date.
Use multiple calendars. Create separate calendars for school work, personal information, important due dates, and more to stay ultra-organized.
Get a text message with your daily agenda. Keep up with all that you need to do for the day without ever having to log on to your Google Calendar.
Set weekly repeats for any day. The drop-down menu only offers M/W/F or T/Th options for repeating events. Go to "Every Week" and customize which days you want the event to repeat.
Get upcoming events while away from the computer. Check out #8 in this list to learn how to access your upcoming events via your phone.
Add events from Gmail. If you receive an email with event time and date information, you can easily add this event to your calendar by clicking "Add to calendar."
Invite others. If you have events on your calendar that you want to invite others to join, just add their email address under Add Guests within the event.

Google Mobile
Whether riding the bus or walking to class, use Google Mobile to stay productive while away from your computer.

Sync your calendar. Never be far from your Google Calendar when you sync it to your phone.
Check your email. Keep your email right at your fingertips with Gmail for mobile.
Access your blog subscriptions. Keep up with your blogs and news feeds that you subscribe to through Reader right on your phone.
Use Google Voice to consolidate phone numbers. If you have a phone in your dorm or apartment, a cell phone, and any other phone numbers, consolidate them into one number with Google Voice.
Easily find friends. Find out where your friends are and even get a map with directions for how to get there with Google Latitudes.
Find out information easily while on the go. Whether you are looking for a great place to eat dinner, wondering what the weather is like, or want to know what the Spanish word for "bathroom" is, just text your information to Google (466453–spells Google on your phone) to get the answer texted back right away.
Access iGoogle. Get your iGoogle page formatted just for the smaller screen size of your phone.
Read your Google Docs. Have access to all your Google Docs items right on your phone.
Keep a to-do list on your phone. Use Google Tasks for mobile so you can access your to-do list any time–and check off what you’ve finished, too.
Never get lost again. Google Maps is an interactive program for most smart phones that offers tons of features so you will never have to be lost again.
Do a quick search anywhere. Find information with a Google search from your phone to impress your professors and your friends.
Access Google Books. Android and iPhone users can access Google Books on their phones.
Post to your blog. Use your mobile to post to your Blogger blog.

Google Chrome Tips and Extensions
If you are using the Google Chrome browser, then you will love these time-saving tips and extensions.

Use a "Pin Tab". If you have multiple tabs open, use a "Pin Tab" to make the tabs the size of the little icon on the left side.
Don’t overlook Paste and Search and Paste and Go. These two features are available when you right-click to add a word or URL to Chrome and will save you an extra step.
Reopen a closed tab. Oops! If you didn’t mean to close that tab, just press Ctrl+Shift+T to reopen it.
Use the Chrome shortcuts. Open a new tab, see your history, maximize your window, and much more with these shortcuts.
Take advantage of the address bar. With Google Chrome, you can use the address bar to perform a Google search, quickly access pages you’ve already visited, and get recommendations for places to go.
Go incognito. If you don’t want to leave traces of where you were browsing, use incognito mode instead of having to go back and delete your history and cookies.
Use the bookmarks manager. Stay organized, rearrange bookmarks, search for bookmarks, add folders, and much more with the bookmark manager.
ChromePass. This tool will give you a list of all the password information stored in Google Chrome.
Save as PDF. Save any page as a PDF with this bookmarklet.
ChromeMailer. If you’ve lost valuable time when having to manually enter email information from a website because Google Chrome doesn’t support the mailto: function, then you will love this extension.
Google Chrome Backup. Back up your personal data, bookmarks, and more with this simple tool.

Google Books
Learn how Google Books can save you time and trips to the library with these tricks.

Search full text. Google Books offers full text for over 10,000 books, so look here the next time you are researching something at the last minute.
Use "About this book". At the top left of the page of a book, clicking this link will give you helpful information such as the table of contents, related books, and a map of places mentioned in the book.
Create a personalized library. Click on "Add to my shared library" to start your own personalized library where you can label books to keep them organized for each class or project.
Find books in your college library. Each book in Google Books has a link to find the book in a library. It can tell you exactly where to look at your own school.
Use the Advanced Book Search. If you can’t find the book you are looking for, try the advanced search, which provides you with many more detailed options.
Access text books. Many text books are available on Google Books, so see if you can save a trip to the bookstore next semester.

Earthquake strikes Venezuela [Breaking News]

(CNN) An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck eastern Venezuela on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake's epicenter was about 25 miles from Carupano, near the Caribbean coast in northeastern Venezuela, the agency said. It was 7 miles deep. The geological survey revised its estimates after initially reporting the quake as having a 5.7 magnitude and an epicenter slightly closer to Carupano. The revised location is about 235 miles east of the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.

Producers of 3 Idiots have signed a deal with Google owned video sharing site YouTube.com to release the film online after 12 weeks (ie by Mid March 2010) of its hitting the cinema screens. The deal with YouTube will allow viewers to watch the movie online or download the entire movie at a fixed price. The film, starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan, has been released on December 25, 2009.

What is Apple iSlate?

The iSlate, also referred to as the Apple Tablet, may be an upcoming tablet computing device product from Apple Inc. Apple has not acknowledged rumors that it is developing a tablet of any sort or that any future product will be called iSlate. Many observers expect Apple to announce the iSlate at a press event on January 27, 2010 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The iSlate is expected to be sold starting in March 2010.

The device is expected to incorporate a 10-inch (26 centimeter) to 11-inch multi-touch display made by Innolux, a subsidiary of Foxconn. The price point is expected to be more expensive than the iPhone but less expensive than an Apple notebook computer with a projected price around $1,000 USD. The possibility of a subsidized price with a network contract has also been discussed.

Some analysts expect the iSlate to compete in the market against dedicated e-book devices such as the Barnes & Noble nook and the Amazon Kindle while offering 70% of revenue to publishers, the same arrangement accorded developers of the App Store. These arrangements would also extend to print publishers who currently receive less in digital work royalties from companies like Amazon.com.

As we all know Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

Today i would like to introduce to a new Facebook application which was created by me for my personal use. But i would to share it with my friends and Bmiint reader. Application name is Google Wave itself, in order not not make confusion and chaos. And i have designed a profile picture in way to attract people, the picture says, "Google Wave in Facebook"

So now, How to add this application?

1. Log in to Facebook.

2. After reaching your FB home, please copy paste the link given aside to the address bar, and http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=206361489456 click enter, where it redirect you the application homepage.

3. Or after logging into facebook just Click Here.

4. After reaching the application home page, please do become a fan.

5. Then click on to "Go to Application button", while it redirects you into a FB page, where inside a iframe Google Wave appears.

How to Create a Green Grunge Website using Photoshop

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a green grunge layout. There are over 60 steps, so it may take quite a few hours to finish. Before we begin, take a moment to download some grunge brushes for use with Photoshop. There are a lot of them on many websites on the internet. Here are some high quality brushes that you can use:

You will also need to download some leaf images. Here are some leafs that will do the job. Now let’s get started!

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop with the dimensions 1200px by 490px. Then select the Paint Bucket Tool (G) and fill the background with the color #274618.

Step 2

Create a new layer and use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then select the Gradient Tool (U) and drag a gradient from the top of your selection to the bottom, using the colors #de6d00 and #912b00. Name this layer “orange bar.”

Step 3

Create a new group (Layer > New > Group) and name it “brushes.” Create a new layer inside this group, set the foreground color to white, select a grunge brush and paint with it over your orange bar. Set the opacity of this layer to Overlay and name it “grunge brush overlay.” Then you can use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to select the areas that are outside of your orange bar and delete them.

Step 4

Repeat the previous step using a different brush and the color #d46300. Then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to select the area of this brush which is over your orange bar and delete it. Set the blend mode of this layer to Soft Light and name it “grunge brush soft light.”

Step 5

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient and use the settings from the following image. Set the blend mode of this layer to Soft Light 54% and name it “black gradient.”

Step 6

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) and create a selection at the top of your document. Then go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient and use the settings from the following image. Set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and name it “white gradient.”

Step 7

Select the Line Tool (U), set the weight to 1px and create a horizontal line at the top of your orange rectangle using the color #140c06. Name this layer “1px black line.”

Step 8

Use the Line Tool (U) again to create a horizontal white line with the weight of 1px beneath the black line. Set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay 22% and name it “1px white line.”

Step 9

Create a new group and name it “brushes.” Create a new layer, set the foreground color to white, select a grunge brush and paint with it on your canvas. You can use as many brushes and layers as you want. Then set the blend mode of each layer to Overlay.

Step 10

Now we are going to create the background for our navigation bar. Create a new group and name it “navigation bar.” Create another group and name this one “navigation bar brushes.”
Create a new layer inside the “navigation bar brushes” and paint with a white grunge brush beneath your orange bar. You can use as many brushes and layers as you want. Then set the blend mode of each layer to Overlay.

Step 11

Create a new layer and use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Select the Gradient Tool (G) and use the settings from the following image to create a new gradient. Then drag this gradient from the top of your selection to the bottom. Name this layer “navigation bar.”

Step 12

Select the Eraser Tool (E), select a big soft brush and erase the left and right side of your navigation bar.

Step 13

Now we are going to add a light effect above the navigation bar. First, use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then create a new layer, select a white soft brush (B) with a diameter around 200px and paint with this brush over the bottom area of your selection. Take a look at the following image for reference. Set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and name it “highlight.”

Step 14

Repeat the previous step, but this time set the opacity of the layer to 60% and name it “highlight 2.”

Step 15

Select the Line Tool (U) and create a horizontal line with the weight of 1px at the top of your navigation bar, leaving a distance of 1px between the navigation bar and this line. Then select the Eraser Tool (E) and erase the left and right side of the line. Double-click on this layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image. Name this layer “1px green line.”

Step 16

Select the Type Tool (T), set the foreground color to white and write the text for your navigation menu items. Then double-click on this layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image.

Step 17

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then create a new layer, and drag a gradient from the top of your selection to the bottom, using the colors #6fb600 and #479501.
Create a new layer, and use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a smaller selection, like I did. Then drag a gradient from the top of your selection to the bottom using the colors #b9f100 and #65bc05.
Put this layer beneath the text layer that you have created at the previous step.

Step 18

Create a new group and name it “header.” Now we are going to create a logo. First, select the Type Tool (T) and write the word “FIKED” using the white color. The font which I have used is called Impact. Double-click on this layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image.

Step 19

Now we are going to include some stars in our logo. Select the Custom Shape Tool (U), right-click on your image, select the “5 Point Star” shape, hold down the Shift key and create a star using the color #dedede. Name this layer “star 1.”
Create two more stars like I did, using the colors #c0c0c0 and #a8a8a8. Then name these layers “star 2″ and “star 3.”

Step 20

Ctrl-click on the vector mask of the “star 1″ layer to select that star. Go to Select > Modify > Expand and expand the selection by 3 pixels. Then click on the “star 2″ layer and go to Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection.

Step 21

Ctrl-click on the vector mask of the “star 2″ layer to select that star. Go to Select > Modify > Expand and expand the selection by 3 pixels. Then click on the “star 3″ layer and go to Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection.

Step 22

Ctrl-click on the thumbnail of the “Fiked” text layer to select the text, go to Select > Modify > Expand and expand the selection by 5 pixels. Then click on the mask of the “star 2″ layer and fill the selection with black. Take a look at the following image for reference.

Step 23

Add a subtle shadow to each star using the settings from the following image, then change the color of each star to white.

Step 24

Select the Type Tool (T), set the foreground color to white and write “LIVE EXTREME” beneath the “FIKED” word. Double-click on this layer and use the settings from the following image for Drop Shadow.

Step 25

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color and set the color to white. Then set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and put it beneath the “Fiked” layer.

Step 26

Create a new layer and use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then drag a white to transparent gradient from the left side of your selection to the right side. Name this layer “gradient” and set its blend mode to Overlay.

Step 27

Use the Type Tool (T) to add more texts in your header. In the following image you can see the settings of each layer style that I have applied to my text layers.

Step 28

Group all the layers created so far (without the background) and name the group “header & navigation.” Now we are going to increase the size of our canvas, so we can create the rest of the layout. Go to Image > Canvas Size and use the settings from the following image. Then fill the background with the color #274618.

Step 29

Create a new layer and paint with a black grunge brush (B) beneath your navigation bar. Then set the blend mode of this layer to Soft Light and name it “black grunge.”

Step 30

Select the Rectangle Tool (U) and create a big white rectangle, like I did. Then double-click on this layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image for Stroke. Name this layer “content bg.”

Step 31

Use the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) to create a small rounded rectangle in the upper left corner of your big white rectangle. Then drag a gradient over this rounded rectangle from the left to the right side, using the colors #8ecf3b and #639029. Put this layer beneath the “content bg” layer, leaving only a half of the rounded rectangle visible. Then name this “rounded rectangle.”

Step 32

Select the Line Tool (U), set the weight to 4px and create a white line with the same height as your big white rectangle. Then set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and name it “white line.”

Step 33

Now we are going to create two vertical dotted lines. First, select the Pencil Tool (B), open the Brushes palette (F5) and set the spacing to 236%. Then set the foreground color to #639029, hold down the Shift key and draw a vertical dotted line from the top of your big white rectangle to the bottom. Put this line in the left side of your white rectangle, duplicate it (Ctrl+J) and then put the new line in the right side.

Step 34

Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U), set the radius to 20px and create a rounded rectangle at the bottom of your big white rectangle, using the color #639029. Then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to select the top part of this rounded rectangle and delete it.

Step 35

Select the Type Tool (T), set the foreground color to white and write the text for your navigation menu items on your green rounded rectangle. Then double-click on the text layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image for Drop Shadow.

Add two horizontal dotted lines at the bottom of your big white rectangle – one using the color #639029 and another one using the color #182b0e.

Step 37

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then drag a radial gradient from the center of your selection to the left edge, using the colors #366121 and #1f3713. Put this layer beneath the green rounded rectangle layer.

Step 38

Create a new layer, select a black grunge brush and paint with it over the footer of your layout. Then double-click on this layer and use the settings from the following image. Name this layer “grunge brushes” and set its blend mode to Soft Light 66%.

Step 39

Download this orange bar image, open it in Photoshop and move it into your document using the Move Tool (V). Put this bar in the footer of your layout and name this layer “orange bar.” Then select the Type Tool (T) and write a copyright statement.

Step 40

Now we are going to create an advertisement spot. Select the Rectangle Tool (U) and create a rectangle with the dimensions 250px by 250px, using the color #cad7ba. Then double-click on this layer and use the settings from the following image for Stroke. Name this layer “250×250.”

Step 41

Select the Type Tool (T) and write “250×250 Advert spot” on your rectangle using the color #494949. Then use the the Line Tool (U) with the settings from the following image to create two arrows, like I did.

Step 42

Now we are going to create a shadow beneath the advertisement spot. Use the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) with a radius of 5px to create a selection. Then use a black soft brush to create a shadow like I did. Set the blend mode of this layer to Soft Light 65% and name it “shadow.”

Step 43

Create a new layer and use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to create a selection like I did. Then drag a black to transparent gradient from the left side of your selection to the right side. Set the blend mode of this layer to Soft Light 50%, name it “gradient” and move it beneath the 250×250 rectangle layer.

Step 44

Now we are going to create a green bar next to the big white rectangle. First, create a new group and name it “green bar.” Then you can take a look at the following image for reference and use the Pen Tool (P) to create your own bar, or you can click here to download mine.
If you chose to create your own bar, use the Burn Tool to create a subtle shadow and make your bar look like it’s 3D. Then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to select the area of your green bar that is over your 250×250 advertisement spot and delete it. Double-click on this layer and use the settings from the following image for Drop Shadow.

Step 45

Duplicate the green bar layer and move the new layer next to the original one. Ctrl-click on the thumbnail of this new layer to select it and fill the selection with black. Then set the opacity of this layer to 15%.

Step 46

Create a new layer, select a soft brush (B) with the diameter of 1px and set the foreground color to #98a15e. Select the Pen Tool (P) and create a path in the middle of your green bar, like I did. Then right-click on your image, select Stroke Path, then select Brush, make sure that the Simulate Pressure option is not checked and click OK. Use the Burn Tool to make some areas of this line darker.
Duplicate this layer and move the new layer 1px to the left.

Step 47

Ctrl-click on the thumbnail of any of the two layers that you have created at the previous step to select that line. Then go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast and use the settings from the following image. Then hit Ctrl+J to duplicate this adjustment layer.

Step 48

Create a new layer, Ctrl-click on the thumbnail of the green bar layer to select the bar and paint with some black grunge brushes over your green bar. Set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay.

Step 49

Use the Pen Tool (P) to create some grass at the bottom of your green bar. To create shadows use the Burn Tool.

Step 50

Add some leafs into your image and put them above your green bar.

Step 51

Select the Brush Tool (B), select a soft brush with the diameter of 2px and set the foreground color to #606442. Then use the Pen Tool (P) to create some kind of rope at the top and at the bottom of your green bar. To do this, create your path with the Pen Tool (P), then right-click on your image, select Stroke Path, select “Brush” from that list and click OK. Then use the Burn Tool to add some shadows to your ropes. Use the Eraser Tool (E) to erase some parts of the ropes, to look like they are surrounding the green bar.

Step 52

Create a new group and name it “content.” Create a new layer inside this group, select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U), set the radius to 5px and create a rounded rectangle using the color #cad7ba. Then select the Line Tool (U), set the weight to 3px and create a white line in the right side of the rounded rectangle. Take a look at the following image for reference.

Step 53

Create a new layer and use the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) to create a rounded rectangle at the bottom of your layout. This will be the area for the latest videos. Then use the Rectangle Tool (U) and the Line Tool (U) to create some white rectangles and lines. Select the Type Tool (T) and write “LATEST VIDEOS” in the right side of your rounded rectangle.

Use the Rectangle Tool (U) to create two white rectangles with the dimensions 468px by 60px. Put one rectangle at the top of the content area and one at the bottom. Then add a stroke to these rectangles using the settings from the following image and use the Type Tool (T) to write “468×60″ in the lower left corner of each rectangle.

Create a rounded rectangle beneath the first advertising spot, using the color #cad7ba. Then add a horizontal white line with the weight of 6px at the bottom of this rounded rectangle.

Create a small white rounded rectangle in the lower right corner of the green rounded rectangle. Then download this star image, open it in Photoshop, move it into your document using the Move Tool (V) and duplicate it four times. Arrange all these stars and write the word “Ratings” in front of your white rounded rectangle, using the color #92a080.

Use the Type Tool (T) to write the word “Screenshots” in the upper right corner of your green rectangle. Then add three square images beneath the text with the dimensions 100px by 100px.

Select the Rectangle Tool (U) and create a rectangle with the dimensions 320px by 260px, using the color #768268. Then select the Type Tool (T) and write “Video Spot” in the center of this rectangle, using the color #a0ae8e. Then use the Type Tool (T) again add more text beneath your rectangle.

Use the Rectangle Tool (U) and the Type Tool (T) to create a search bar and a login panel in the upper left corner of your content area. In the following image you can see the settings of each layer style that I have applied to my rectangles.

Now we are going to create the “Products” area. Create a white rounded rectangle and write the word “Products” on it, using the color #a0ae8e. Use the Line Tool (U) to create a white line with the weight of 4px beneath the rounded rectangle. Then add five images with the dimensions 180px by 78px and add a stroke to each of these images using the settings from the following image.

Step 61

Add nine square images beneath your video area. Then add an Outer Glow to each of these images using the following settings. Select the rectangle Tool (U) and create a rectangle with the dimensions 100px by 16px at the bottom of each image, using the color #dfdfdf.

Step 62

Create a new layer and use the Pencil Tool (B) to create two white dotted lines at the top and at the bottom of your orange bar. Set the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and use the Erase Tool (E) to erase the right side of these two lines.

Google Nexus One Pictured?

It’s going to be really hard to convince anybody that’s been reading the news for the past 24-hours that the Google Phone (Nexus One) doesn’t exist, and now a higher resolution picture of what is supposedly the Nexus One has surfaced. Of course, it’s physically the same as the HTC Passion, sans the HTC logo at the top of the phone. Could this be a photoshop job, or the real thing? Regardless of that, we’re fairly sure you’re waiting eagerly to give the Google Phone a try.
