BMW finally made it. BMW finally completed the 8 Series range and the world can now enjoy the newest four-door coupe from Munich. Even though the car was leaked online last week, we got to see it live a few months ago and we already predicted that it’s one of the best looking cars ever. Such a car definitely deserves a exclusive launch film.

As usual, BMW published the ‘official launch film’ for the 8 Series Gran Coupe minutes after the car was unveiled. In typical fashion, the short clip focuses on what the mains things of this car just like speed and dynamics as well as body.

The video has many cinematic shots. The video shows the car both at speed and from different angles to tell the story of its dual character, at the same time, it’s a comfortable cruiser for long trips, a car that is meant to be sporty as well as one of the best cruiser. The new 8 Series Gran Coupe will be available with a V8 as well as gives us a two six-cylinder choices.

Still the M8 Gran Coupe is in the making right now and will be unveiled later this year.

By now, we’re sure you’ve seen the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe. Since the car still being under process of debuts for a little while longer, some official photos have leaked ahead of time, showing off the car in full. BMW isn’t happy about this but we’re sure you don’t mind. If you’ve seen the leaked photos, you know it’s a amazing. In fact, I think that BMW 8 series coupe will be best looking cars among the other BMW's. In the photo's can see it actually looks better than 8

It looks similar what I hoped. I think it looks even better than I was expecting.

It’s long, low and sleek, with muscular curves, strong rear haunches, and an integrated rear spoiler. The car look is so elegant and dope. I'd be make my choice over the coupe ten out of ten.

Personally, Being a BMW fan I always love their front view.

The grills of them make them even look more better.

The 8 series give you the luxurious as well as sporty look, just like 6 series gran coupe but anyways 8 series looks more better that. BMW has given more detailing edges, muscular front view as well as rear, taillights blend with the spoilers.BMW also finally made the door handles into the shoulder line of the car, lining them up properly, rather than again making it float around underneath.

When the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe debuts, I strongly believe it will be the BMW’s best looking car since the 6 Series Gran Coupe and the best looking car in its rank. The best part ? Soon they are going to launch M8 Gran Coupe. I’ll have to stand on something tall to give my jaw enough room to drop, when that debuts.

The new BMW M boss Markus Flasch aims to take the M division into a new era. He took over the reigns of the Motorsport department over in Munich in late 2018, but he’s already working on a number of very interesting projects. In a recent interview with Australian news outlet Car Sales, he even went as far as discussing what kind of potential bespoke or stand-alone M models could have.

It looks like the BMW M division is currently assessing the production of stand-alone cars, models that don’t fit in any current line-up, cars that don’t necessarily have a predecessor. Think BMW M1, if you will. This sort of car would be a bold investment from BMW, considering how things are going in terms of sales right now. However, since the Germans sold over 100,000 M cars last year, it may be a profitable move.

“We are investigating M variants that may also be stand-alone, that don’t have a predecessor,” said Flasch. Notice that he used plural in that sentence. That could very well mean, a number of such bespoke M cars could be on the way. According to the article, a decision has been made on what kind of a car it will be but Flasch refused to offer more details. He did confirm that there were ‘more than one’ concepts being studied.

Possibilities are quite varied at the moment and the car could either be a hybrid, all electric or use a petrol engine alone, all three choices being weighed in. As for what we should expect from this stand-alone M car the boss of the M division said:

“It has to fit our character, a combination of precision, agility and luxury. And we are not copying, we are doing it our own way.” Furthermore, this new car could be cheaper than some would expect, as Flasch doesn’t find it has to be the most expensive model in the line-up when it comes out. That’s incredibly great news.

24 Hrs of Le Mans: BMW M8 GTEs finished 11th and 14th in the LM GTE Pro class.

BMW Team MTEK has concluded the ‘Super Season’ in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the 24-hour race at Le Mans (FRA). The two BMW M8 GTEs finished in eleventh and 14th positions in the LM GTE Pro class.

The #82 BMW M8 GTE – driven by Jesse Krohn (FIN), António Félix da Costa (POR) and Augusto Farfus (BRA) – had started from fifth place but was unable to hold onto the position as the race progressed, crossing the line in eleventh place after 335 laps. The #81 car, with Martin Tomczyk (GER), Nick Catsburg (NED) and Philipp Eng (AUT) at the wheel, finished in 14th position. Both cars lost time during the night and towards the end of the race after making repair stops to fix technical problems. Victory in the LM GTE Pro class went to the #51 Ferrari.

BMW Team MTEK had celebrated a total of two podium finishes during the ‘Super Season’. The BMW M8 GTE crossed the line in second place in the LM GTE Pro field at Fuji (JPN) and at Sebring (USA).

At Le Mans, BMW was celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1999 overall win with the BMW V12 LMR. It was also the 80th anniversary of the first BMW class win, with the BMW 328. Both of these cars completed a parade lap around the circuit before the start of the race.

“The final event of the ‘Super Season’ was certainly a handful. Before the race, we already knew that the circumstances at Le Mans would not necessarily make things easy for us. And that turned out to be the case. It became clear relatively soon that we would not be able to keep pace with the leaders. Our drivers had to go right to the limit from the first lap, which put the components under great stress from the word go. This led to technical difficulties in the second-third of the race that cost us more time and meant that a top result was out of sight early on. However, the entire team gave their all, right to the final lap, although we would obviously have liked to have left Le Mans with a better result. Credit and respect are due to all concerned in these difficult circumstances. And now we say ‘Au revoir, Le Mans’ – and bid farewell to the FIA World Endurance Championship. Many thanks to BMW Team MTEK, the ACO and WEC. Above all, we would like to thank the many BMW fans who have provided such great support for our WEC project over the years.”

Ernest Knoors (Team Principal, BMW Team MTEK):

“That was a very difficult race for us. However, in a 24-hour race, you always hope to have a chance to improve. That was not really the case. We also had one or two technical problems and by the end, it was all just about getting the cars across the line. Whether you win or lose, the level of work that the team puts into a race like this is always the same. My girls and boys displayed fantastic commitment. It is a shame that we weren’t rewarded for that.”

António Félix da Costa (#82 BMW M8 GTE, 11th place):
“Le Mans is always special. We made a good start to the race as a team, but the circumstances meant that we didn’t have the pace required. Every one of us battled hard and we gave our all. Of course, there is some sadness that we are leaving WEC with the BMW M8 GTE. Thanks to the whole BMW Team MTEK team for our time together. New challenges will come – my next one will be this coming weekend at the Formula E in Bern.”

Augusto Farfus (#82 BMW M8 GTE, 11th place):“That was a disappointing race for us. We wanted to say goodbye with a good result and tried everything possible to keep up with the leading group. However, we just didn’t have the pace. The technical problem during the night was not what made the difference. I really enjoyed the BMW M8 GTE project in WEC. Many thanks to everyone at BMW Team MTEK. The team did really great work.”

Jesse Krohn (#82 BMW M8 GTE, 11th place):“In general, my Le Mans debut was a fantastic experience that I will never forget. Unfortunately, it was difficult for us from a racing point of view. The team worked very hard and did not record the result that it deserved. I am now heading directly to the Nürburgring. I hope that things will go better for me there.”

Martin Tomczyk (#81 BMW M8 GTE, 14th place):

“Unfortunately, Le Mans 2019 was not successful for us. The circumstances were difficult and we really had to give our all to even have half a chance of keeping pace with our competitors. The technical problems then cost us more time. Despite that, it was good for the team to reach the finishing line at least after all the hard work. Looking back, our WEC programme had plenty of highs and lows. The highlight for me was certainly the second place at the 1,000 Miles of Sebring. I would have liked to have recorded a top result at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well, but luckily for me, I’ve got another chance to do so next weekend at the Nürburgring.”

Nick Catsburg (#81 BMW M8 GTE, 14th place):
“That was a hard race. We didn’t have the pace, so we had to drive really hard and that led to our technical problems. Of course, spending so much time in the pits means that you have no chance of recording a good result at Le Mans. Overall, I was very happy to be part of the WEC project and BMW Team MTEK. Unfortunately, we were not as successful as we had hoped. Now I am looking forward to my next favourite race, the 24 Hours Nürburgring, next weekend.”

Philipp Eng (#81 BMW M8 GTE, 14th place):
“Overall, that was another great week at Le Mans. It’s a shame that we couldn’t round it off with a good result. In general, the BMW M8 GTE drove well but unfortunately we just didn’t have the pace required on the straights. We had to drive right at the limit, which put the compontents under extreme stress. Many thanks to BMW Motorsport and BMW Team MTEK for allowing me to be a part of this project from the start.” #bmw

As soon as the G21 BMW 3 Series Touring debuted, dreams of a potential M3 Touring occupied the minds of enthusiasts. BMW has never made a wagon version of its most famous sport sedan/coupe, a fact that irks Bavarian fans the world over. As BMW’s German rivals, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, develop wagon versions of their M3 competitors, the Bavarians won’t commit to ever making a long-roof M3. If they did make one, though, it’d look pretty badass, as evidenced by this render.

Rendered by Aksyonov Nikita, this G81 BMW M3 Touring looks awesome. It’s low, wide and mean; everything we’d want in such a car. With its black wheels, black trim and black Kidney Grilles, especially in contrast to its blue paint work, the M3 Touring render looks fantastic.

Now, let’s make this very clear — it’s not happening. There won’t be a G81 BMW M3 Touring, regardless of what rumors you hear. If I’m wrong and such a car is eventually made, I’ll happily eat all of the crow. However, I doubt that happens. We’ve heard from our sources inside BMW that it’s just not even a realistic possibility.

Which is shame of course, as such a car would be incredible. We don’t have any official power figures for the upcoming G80 BMW M3 but it’s not hard to venture a guess. There’s a real possibility that it makes the same 473 hp in regular guise, and 503 hp in Competition guise, as the BMW X3 M. We already know it will use the same S58 3.0 liter twin turbocharged I6 as the X3 M and that it’s a brutal, torque-slinging monster. Now imagine that in an all-wheel drive performance wagon, rather than a tall-ish SUV. Tell me that’s not a car you’d love to live with everyday. We know we would. Especially if it looked like this render.

BMW X2 M35i Gets Bold Spec That Won't Leave You Indifferent.

BMW has ruled out the idea of introducing a fully fledged M version of a front-wheel-drive-based model, and while the X2 M35i is only an M Performance model, it still has the most powerful four-cylinder engine ever installed in a Bimmer. Deliveries to customers are scheduled to kick off next month in Europe, while over in the United Arab Emirates, the famous BMW Abu Dhabi dealer just took delivery of a high-spec version.

Finished in a shade called Mineral Grey, the X1 crossover’s fancier sibling rides on 20-inch lightweight wheels finished in Cerium Gray to complement the swoopy and relatively tall body. What sets this X2 M35i apart are the not-so-subtle orange accents we weren’t expecting to see on a predominantly gray vehicle. These are noticeable not just on the body, but also on the M-branded alloys to contrast the blue brake calipers adorned with the “M” logo hiding behind.

Those orange stripes on the lower front grille, side sills, and on the rear diffuser have a correspondent inside the crossover’s cabin where the leather upholstery has a similar finish. Not only that, but the door cards are partially finished in orange, much like the lower section of the dashboard and most of the center console. Even the central armrest has that vibrant color, and it would be interesting to see how it will withstand the test of time after several years of heavy use.

Flashy spec aside, this X2 rides lower to the ground thanks to its M Sport suspension tailored to the M35i variant. xDrive comes as standard on the range topper, and so does launch control enabling the potent compact crossover to hit 62 mph (100 kph) in just 4.9 seconds thanks to 302 horsepower and especially due to the generous torque of 332 pound-feet (450 Newton-meters).

As a refresher, the BMW X2 kicks off at $36,400 in the United States, but the M35i costs an additional $10,050, and that’s before you begin to tick the options boxes of the configurator.

Can an All-Electric Car Be a True Driver's Car ?

BMW has planned its near-future quite well. Even though its latest design philosophy– we’re talking about electric cars designs, not the infamous “twinning” concept – has garnered a lot of heat, BMW is still banking on zero-emission cars to safely propel the company into the EV revolution. To achieve this, the automaker is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that all kinds of folks are pleased. As such, the i4 EV is said to be a true driver’s car, through and through.

One can safely assume that the three electric models that are due for release – the iX3, iNext, and the i4 – might essentially be the same deal in a different packaging. But BMW says that will not be the case here. It seems a little hard to believe because this is the company that even started the trend of making all its models look remarkably similar to each other; the Russian Doll philosophy, if you may. But just like it said the designs will be different for every model, the automaker has promised that even the three electric cars will be different from each other. BMW will use them to test the grounds and see which one works the best, and what kind of customers they are attracting with the iX3, the iNext, and the i4 in different demographics.

To list out the basic differences, the iX3 will probably be the automaker’s cash cow in the beginning and perhaps, even its best-selling model.

Since it will be based on the handsome X3, BMW will most likely use the iX3 as candy to lure people into the showrooms. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, BMW i chief, Robert Irlinger, said, “With the iX3, we are going into the compact SUV segment. The i4 is a compact sedan with a coupe-like look. The iNext roughly has the dimensions of an X5. These are all volume segments we are entering since we believe demand for electric vehicles is growing, governments will support them, and the infrastructure is expanding.”

We can expect the iX3 to be well-packed, and competitively priced as well.

Moving to the iNext, this will be the flagship EV for BMW. It will feature the latest technology possible, the longest range, and it will also be the most luxurious electric vehicle offered in the Bavarian stable. Contrary to what Irlinger said, just like any other premium car, the iNext will not draw a lot of potential customers when compared to the iX3. Now that it has catered to the masses and the Richie Riches, BMW will have one main section of people left to please - the enthusiasts, the folks who like to be in the driver’s seat.

Electric cars are said to be a little boring when compared to those with combustion engines, so BMW plans to serve these people with the driver-centric i4.

Irlinger said that the i4 is “sportier and stands for something different. It’s a driver’s car by design, so the need for that kind of technology is lower”. We already know that the i4 will be offered with an 80-kWh battery pack initially and with a choice of either a rear-wheel-drive system or an all-wheel-drive setup. In terms of size, it will be roughly the same size as a current 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Talking about Autonomy in the i4, Irlinger added, “The i4 is sportier and stands for something different. It’s a driver’s car by design, so the need for that kind of technology is lower. You won’t find the same level of autonomy there as you will with the iNext. But we haven’t decided whether it will be Level 2, 2-plus, 3 or 3-minus”.

MotoGP Fastest Qualifier Marc Marquez Wins BMW M3 CS

An M6 Coupe in 2013, an M4 Coupe in 2014, an M6 Convertible in 2015, an M2 Coupe in 2016, an M4 CS in 2017, and now this – an M3 CS. Marc Marquez has claimed the title for the fastest MotoGP qualifier for the sixth consecutive year and that means he gets to drive home yet another shiny new BMW.

To understand how a MotoGP rider can claim the BMW M Award at the end of the season, all drivers score points based on their positions in each qualifying weekend. Needless to say, the one to obtain the highest number of points receives the keys to a new BMW M model a.k.a. the “Official Car of MotoGP” during the last 20 seasons of the competition.

Speaking at the award ceremony held in Valencia, Spain, Marc Marquez said:

“I can hardly believe that I have won the BMW M Award for the sixth time running. One year ago, I announced here that my objective for 2018 was to claim this sixth victory - and I have actually managed it. That makes me very proud. Now I can hardly wait to get behind the wheel of this fantastic BMW M3 CS.”

BMW 8 Series Already Getting Widebody Treatment

What's under the hood? Likely a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

BMW’s latest and greatest coupe, the 8 Series, is already on the production lines and is available in some markets around the world. It is assembled at the company’s Dingolfing factory in Germany alongside the 5 Series and 7 Series, and its most powerful version to date is the M850i xDrive with a 4.4-liter V8 developing 530 hp. We are patiently waiting for the M8, which should boost peak power to more than 600 hp, but meanwhile, we’ve discovered what is most likely the first tuning project for the revived 8 Series in the world.

It comes from Prior Design, a company well-known in the automotive industry for its wild widebody tuning ideas. We’ve seen spectacular projects based on the Audi RS6, Dodge Challenger, Mercedes-AMG GT, and even Tesla Model S, and this new offering is no different to the previous ones. Prior Design’s BMW 8 Series is still just a rendering, but it’s already looking very promising.

This first digital preview of the coupe reveals we will be dealing with a quite aggressive exterior design featuring wider wheel arches, additional side sills, a small fixed rear spoiler, and a vented hood. Also, the air intakes in the front bumper are significantly larger than on the stock car and the vehicle rides on 21-inch wheels on all four corners. As far as we can tell by this rendering, some exterior parts will be finished in unpainted carbon fiber. These include the roof, hood vents, side mirrors, rear wing, and front bumper lip.

All-new BMW M2 Competition Launched in India for Rs 79.90 Lakh

With the launch, M2 Competition becomes the most-affordable M-badged car in the country, a badge well known in the high-performance sports car segment.

The cabin of the all-new BMW M2 Competition gets optional M Sport seats with illuminated M2 badge and standard M Seat belts. The BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite with interior trim finishers in black high-gloss with highlight trim finisher Pearl Chrome completes the cabin.

The M2 is powered by a M TwinPower Turbo three-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine that delivers 410 hp at 6,250 rpm and a peak torque of 550 Nm. These numbers push the all-new BMW M2 Competition from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/hr.

The engine is mated to a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission with Drivelogic is the dual-clutch system specially designed for the high-revving BMW M engine. There are three driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+), Active M Differential on the rear axle and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

The exhaust system comes with an innovative flap concept. The electrically controlled flaps, positioned just before the rear silencer, minimise exhaust backpressure for optimised efficiency and create a unmistakable BMW M sound across the entire rev range.

Feature wise, the BMW M2 Competition gets iDrive controller, Radio BMW Professional, 7 loud speakers with 205 Watts HiFi loudspeaker system, a 16.5 cms colour display with AM/FM Radio, Park Distance Control (PDC) rear and front along with rear view camera and more.

By the Numbers: BMW M340i vs Mercedes-AMG C43 vs Audi S4

Now that we’ve got the goods on the upcoming BMW M340i, the first-ever M Performance 3 Series and the most powerful non-M 3er ever, we thought we’d take a look at how it stacks up against its competitors. After all, its main competition, the Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43, sort of do the same thing, in terms of both naming and specification. So how does the M340i compare with the AMG and the Audi?

Now that the BMW M340i is here, the 3 Series joins the ranks of the Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43 as a middle-of-the-road performance machine that isn’t quite from the brand’s true performance division. Like a movie that was “inspired by a true story” it’s not the real deal. Still, these are fun and exciting cars to drive so let’s take a look at how they stack up by the numbers. No one outside of BMW has driven the new M340i yet, so there’s no way to compare them on the road. Only on paper.

Under the hood, each car has a turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The Bimmer uses a 3.0 liter turbocharged I6, the AMG a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 and the Audi also gets a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6. The Mercedes-AMG C43 is the most powerful of the three, with its newly updated engine making 385 hp. The next most powerful is the BMW M340i, with 382 hp (in North America. Europe gets 374 hp), so not too far behind the AMG. Lastly, the Audi S4 is outgunned, only making 354 hp.

All three cars use automatic gearboxes as-standard with no manual option. Both the BMW M340i and Audi S4 use eight-speed ZF-sourced automatics, while the AMG C43 uses a nine-speed unit made in-house. All three cars use rear-biased all-wheel drive systems as well, though the BMW’s and AMG’s are more rear-biased than the Audi’s. The BMW M340i and Audi S4 both have optional limited-slip rear diffs and, fun fact about the S4’s, it its own has configurable settings through the drive-select system.

In terms of performance, the BMW M340i is claimed to be the fastest, getting from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. For those of you with good memories, you’d know that time makes the M340i just as fast as a standard F80 BMW M3 with a manual. But the Audi S4 lags behind the Bimmer just a bit, with a claimed 4.4 second time. That leaves the AMG C43 as the slowest, with a claimed tie of 4.6 seconds. Still, all three cars are very fast. (It must be noted, the Audi and Mercedes-AMG have been clocked at faster than their claimed times but all we have for the Bimmer is a claimed manufacturer time, so we used claimed times for all three).How about equipment and technology levels, though? All three are pretty similarly equipped and come with similar levels of technology. The only thing separating the three is really their infotainment systems and digital instrument panels. The Mercedes-AMG C43 is the only car of the three to not get a digital instrument panel as-standard, though it is optional. While digital panels are as-standard on the BMW M340i and Audi S4. Also, we’ve used the S4’s and C43’s infotainment systems, as well as BMW’s newest iDrive and the match-up isn’t even fair — iDrive crushes them.
