I have a 2006 model, 318 se , 2 litre model , I've had it for 4 years now without issue its got 75000 miles and all serviced. I've decided to sell it on Autotrader to buy a newer one and someone viewed it last night

I've not used it for last 4 weeks and the prospective buyer noticed that on oil cap there's a bit of creamy stuff immediately he said. "" your head gaskets gone"". I'm not getting smoking etc and from what I can see there is no oil in coolant this model has no dipstick so can't check that

how do I know if it's just condensation or cylinder. Spoke to mechanic briefly he said he doubts it's the gasket and advised to drain oil and coolant.

Please Help! Engine Misfires And Draining Battery, 3 Garages Cant Tell Me Whats Wrong!

Hi there, my 52 plate 318ci auto, has a few problems which no garage knows how or can be bothered to fix it, ive had many people tell me whats wrong, suggestions have included, head gasket, vanos, ht leads, spark plugs, but nobody can give me a definitive answer.

The car misfires at low revs and revs start edging up from around 800 to around 1500 revs when sitting in idle, when you put your foot on the accelerator it sounds as if the engine is misfiring in the first two cylinders, after a few splutters the engine kicks in and revs fine. Also there seems to be a drain on the battery, ive had the health checked by the rac and they say the battery is in perfect health, but whenever the car has been sitting overnight, in the morning turning the car over is a struggle and sometimes the battery drains flat overnight.

This morning i jump started the car and after straight away the engine was working properly while the battery was connected to another via jump leads, no misfires, no shaking and no splutters, the engine hadnt sounded so good in a long time, took it for a 20 min spin, no splutters at all and i thought miraculously all my trounbles had been fixed, turned the car off, went to restart it an hour later and suddenly all the splutters and misfires came back, but as soon as i connect the battery to another car battery all the misfires went away?

If anyone could shed some light on my issues i would very much appreciate it, the amount of money ive spent on this car trying to get it fixed with absolutly not results is unbelievable. Until today i was under the assumption that it was a vanos problem, but now after hearing the engine run over perfectly while the battery was connected to another has what i think may be wrong with it, but what confuses me is that i know the battery health is fine.

Maintenance Chassis And Tires In Fall

In Fall because lower temperatures so the tire need
to replenish the tire pressure within the specified range, of course, check the
tire is not scratched, or have no place to leak rolling tires. Because in autumn
there is still a lot of rain, so check the tread is too shallow, if rain road
skidding lines and too shallow, then easily make the car deviation, traffic
accidents, in which case we must promptly replace the tire. Of course, the
chassis should be noted, in particular, did not do to the car chassis rust treatment,
excessive summer rain, rain is very susceptible to corrosion chassis, If there
is corrosion on chassis, then to deal with in a timely manner, to avoid danger.

Red Oil Pressure Light/rough Idle/lack Of Power

Hi all,

Very new to this so apologies if it doesn't make a lot of sense!

I've owned a 07 plate 320i for just over a year now, never had any problems with it up until about 3 months ago when I was driving home on a 200 mile journey and the engine management light came on the car suddenly lost all power and started using double the amount of fuel. I pulled over and let the engine cool but then the red oil light came on almost instantly.

I spoke to my local BMW garage when I got back and they advised the injectors need replacing because of the problems and the age of the car, so £1,000 later I had all of them replaced. For a little while after this the car was fine, it had power and the fuel usage seemed to be back to normal with no engine management lights or red oil pressure lights coming up. Then after about 2/3 weeks of using the car the red oil light came back on and the car seems to be back to having a lack of power, using double the amount of fuel and always smelling strongly when the engine is running and a rough idle especially when cold!

I've booked in the garage again for them to have a look on the 31st as thats the only time available so I

thought I would see if anyone had any ideas or the same problems?! I've read about the common problems of a 3 Series of this age but not really got an answer. Wondering if it's worth selling the car or trying to get the problems fixed?

Any replies would be much appreciated.

Jake

Hi guys,

I've been getting a knocking from the back end. I thought it was my top mounts but I've replaced those and still got the noise. I went to change the tyre and found it worn very unevenly, I've been told to check the trailing arm bushes and ball joints. Has anyone got a part number for the ones I need as there's loads of different ones on Euros and I don't want to buy the wrong ones.

Also, will I need any special tools for the job?
