I'm not a huge fan of featuring deals on mainstream games here, however it can also be good to have some of these types of games around, as they are easy for kids to learn - and a love of board games in youth may translate into a love of some good strategy games (think Twilight Struggle, Puerto Rico, etc) in the teenage and adult years.

Here's some more info on the game Shape by Shape: Based on the ancient game of tangrams, Shape by Shape is the quietly absorbing game of fitting 14 pieces inside a puzzle frame. Not as simple as it sounds, players are challenged to match the image on each of 60 cards using six red pieces to form the card's subject and eight yellow pieces to form its background. If needed, hints on the back of each card will aid the player. In addition to the 60 puzzles provided there are 27,268 ways to arrange the pieces inside the puzzle frame. Children who can draw up a master list will be well on their way to brilliant careers in math or engineering. This compact, nicely designed game includes a plastic drawer below the puzzle frame to hold the cards.

A: Travel Blokus is a strictly 2-player version of Blokus.

• The rules and scoring are identical.
• The shapes that each player has are the same.
• The board is smaller.
• The starting squares are in the interior instead of the corners.

Blokus To Go: The strategy game for the whole family now comes in a portable, on-the-go package. Players take turns placing pieces of their chosen color on the board. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners. When the board is full, each player counts up the squares in their remaining pieces the player with least number of squares wins.
