It is an “I just have to outrun you” game of horror survival set in a high school – which distinguishes itself from other zombie-themed games in a number of significant ways…

There are no guns, no chainsaws – it’s a high school, requiring you to be more resourceful. Players may even go most the game without a weapon at all, hoping to dodge their way through.

All players begin the game bitten, already infected by the zombie virus. No one can be trusted, not even that girl from band camp. Your objective: be the first player to run down the hall, find an antidote in the science lab and get back through the zombie filled corridor to the exit. Only the first through will live, locking the door behind them to prevent the spread of the outbreak. Which means everything and everyone on the board is an enemy. You may have to choose between killing a zombie or tripping a friend into your undead classmates to slow them down or eliminate them.

The big box will feature the base game Carson City and the expansion Gold & Guns. Also included is the newest expansion called Horses & Heroes. The game is played in four rounds, and in each one of them, the players choose one of the characters, which give certain advantages. When there are several players claiming the same action, a duel is fought. In the end, the winner will be the most prominent citizen in Carson City, as measured by victory points that can be won both during and after the game.

It will be launched on Kickstarter this June. The big box will be the same size as the original box of carson city, only the height will be adjusted, so that everything will fit inside. The game might see more upgrades when the kickstarter campaign goes well.

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding page where we will be launching a campaign for the Carson City Big Box and it’s newest expansion Horses & Heroes. If you want to help us in making this Big Box version of Carson City a reality, you can pledge via a variety of levels.

This is a game for two players; the board has 16 squares (4x4), and the 16 different pieces that can be constructed combinating the following four characteristics: Size, Colour, Shape and Hole.

The goal of the game is to complete a line with four pieces that has at least one common characteristic. The line may be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. The winner is the player who places the fourth piece of the line.

Christmas day is a very special day for every gamer. But this year, Czech Games Edition and Board Game Arena would like to make this day even more special by making a wonderful present to the gamers community. This is why we are happy and proud to introduce today Tash-Kalar on BGA: Arena of Legends, a card based combat game by Vlaada Chvátil published by CGE.

Tash-Kalar basic principles are quite simple. At your turn, you can take 2 actions. Each actions can be either putting a "common piece" on the board or using pieces on the board to play a card ("summon a being"). To summon a being, your pieces on the board must match the pattern describe on the being card. If this is the case, you can play the card, place a new piece on the square corresponding to the white-framed square in the pattern, and then apply the being effect described on the card.

Each players plays a "faction", and is using the corresponding being cards. In addition these cards, you can summon "Legends" which are quite hard to summon but gives you additional points and powerful effects.

We are proud and happy to introduce today Polis on BGA: Fight for the Hegemony, a game by Fran Diaz published by Asylum Games.

Polis is a game about the Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta. There is too few good strategy board games designed to be played by 2 "core gamers", so this is really a pleasure to play this one!

The game lasts 4 turns. During each turn, both players are taking 2 actions alternately until they decide to pass. The winner is the player with the most population cubes + prestige points at the end of the game. You grow up your population by conquering cities and feeding them with wheat, and you win prestige points by winning cities, winning battles and building projects.

There are 12 different possible actions, including building & moving your military units (hoplites and galleys), making them collect resources produced in the territories, trade resources or start to build a project.

After players feedback, we found that a “hang back and tech up” strategy could be played. This runs counter the “game spirit”. We decided to add the rule below (last step of the Camp phase). This solves the problem.

When you set up your Camp, if your Scout is on the last space of the route (5 steps downriver from Saint Louis), then get rid of all the resources and all the Indians (to the Pow Wow area) that are on your boats. Discard all the Encountered Character cards you may have recruited since the beginning of the game. However get back the starting character cards you may have discarded.
