The Jacomo Sailing Club is the oldest public sailing club in the Kansas City area. It was founded in 1958 and has a rich history of running top notch one design races on Lake Jacomo. Contact the Jacomo Sailing Club today. We can provide a starting point for your introduction into sailing, racing and fun on the water. The club holds Sunday afternoon races, from May through October. The races start at 1:30, and boats sail from both Sailboat Cove on the East side, and the marina on the West side.

With blast of the horn from a salty, BBC India enters the channel leaving the Duluth, MN. harbor. The lift bridge answer the salute with a blast of its own horn. The BBC India is an ocean going vessel It had just delivered wind turbines to Duluth Harbor. It will now make its way threw the Great Lakes, and then up the Saint Lawrence Seaway to get back to the Atlantic Ocean. The BBC India’s original name was Maria Green from 1998-2004. It was built in 1998. It is 468′ long, with a beam of 75′, and weighs in at 17539 ton. Powered by 10604 hp diesel engine. Row (Your Ondine Boat) These are two small clips from the 2006 award winning documentary which depicts Julie and Colin Angus’ circumnavigation of the globe by human power which garnered them the National Geographic Adventurers Of The Year award. Christine Leakey wrote the original score to the documentary based on a poem written by Julie’s mother, Helga Wafaei. Christine also obtained title sponsorship for the expedition from Truestar Health, she media managed the expedition from Moscow to Vancouver, organized a fundraising event, created all the graphics for the expedition’s completion and was music producer for the film. Steve Fossett and Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer Successfully Complete First Solo, Non-Stop Round-The-World Airplane Flight 4 March 2005 – Salina, Kansas, USA: The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer, piloted by legendary aviator and record breaker Steve Fossett, successfully landed at Salina, Kansas at 1:50 pm CST March 3, 2010 thereby earning Steve another truly important world ‘first’. The solo round-the-world flight was completed in 67 hours and 2 minutes and 38 seconds. The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer took off for its round-the-world record attempt from Salina Airport, Kansas at 6:47 pm CST on 28 February, 2005. Shortly after emerging from the confines of the 7’7″ cockpit, a jubilant Steve Fossett stated, “I’ve wanted to do this flight for a long time – it has been a major ambition. It would not have been possible without the right people being associated with the project, such as Scaled Composites, lead by Jon Karkow, who built the plane, and Sir Richard Branson, along with Virgin Atlantic’s support, and the team here at Kansas State University including the 11 students who were integral to the project. “I am very lucky guy – I got to achieve my ambition,” he said. The Paris 63 is a multi-phase project and the dream of Stanley Paris, whose goal is a solo, non-stop, and unassisted and completely green circumnavigation. He will not only be the oldest person to do so but he is also attempting to beat Dodge Morgan’s record of 150 days. The build schedule is a short intense sprint – compressed into 12 months from design to Kiwi Spirit’s launch date of August 2012.
