Call it a mid-life-crisis-purchase or whatever you like but… I bought a bike.

The new(used) Bike

The bike arrived a few days ago … the keys and title arrived last night. I bought it from a friend of a friend about 5 hours north and had it shipped down. I got a super deal on it(thanks Joseph!!!). The Bike only has about 4K miles and is in perfect condition. Funny thing though…. I thought I was buying a 2002 Ducati Monster…Turns out it’s a 2003. Even better.

I took it out last night just to gas it up and see how it rides. Holy smokes!

Not sure if this is going to make me feel younger but it sure makes me feel good.

*yes, yes, and yes… I will be careful. I’m happy for the concern but 80% of the friends I’ve told about this purchase all think I’m going to run myself off a cliff. The other 20% already have bikes

My dog’s leg is healing much faster than I expected. I’m thankful. I still have to take him to the vet again next month for another xray. I think our frisbee days are over. He doesn’t know this though.

Last weekend, I took a motorcycle safety course and passed that. It was like Motorcycle Boot Camp..pretty intense but fun as hell! By passing the class, I no longer have to take the road test at the DMV.. just the written. I’m just waiting for my certificate to come in the mail to make my DMV appointment. Shopping for a bike comes next. I have NO IDEA what to get.

Sadly, I have a birthday coming up in July… Birthdays depress the hell out of me. I think the motorcycle will make a nice gift to myself though =)

Still writing music… Thinking about putting a show together in the next few months. More to come on that.

I’ll be flying back to Michigan in August for a week. Will be good to see old friends and family (as always).

Been spending much of my online time on Facebook and Twitter these days. It’s not too often I’m on a real computer but it’s easy and handy to check in with online life with my Palm Pre phone.–the new phone ROCKS btw!

Had some dog troubles a few weeks ago. My little guy broke his back leg and set me back almost 5 Grand in vet bills. He’s on the mend and worth every penny but it just makes me concerned about the animal owners out there who don’t have money for animal medical bills (I was lucky to have had some savings).

Down the road I’d like to do some benefit concerts for some sort of charity that can help others out with this sort of thing.

Meanwhile, I’m getting geared up for the completion on the new CD. Only a few more tracks to go-then it’s Mix and Mastering time. In light of the new CD, I need to get my website updated and revamped. The site might be down for a little while but it’ll return(hopefully all sparkly and new).

Much has been happening since my last update and I keep thinking that I’ll get around to updating the journal and then…well…uh… OK, I don’t have any good excuse. 

Health stuff?

I’m still alive. Last I left off was that I failed my pre-exam due to high white cell count. Turns out I had an infection in my tooth. I ended up getting a root canal and taking antibiotics. I go in a couple weeks to get the crown for the tooth. After all this is done I need to go back to the doctor and get another MRI to see if anything has changed in my head.

ALL of my crazy symptoms I had are now GONE so maybe something in my brain has changed. Who knows. All I know is that it’s hard for me to willingly go in and have my skull opened up when I feel fine and dandy. It all depends on what the new MRI shows and what the doctor tells me. 

Meanwhile, I’ve been getting on with life again and trying not to let any Arachnoid consume me.

Music stuff?

Today, we went in the recording studio and tracked 2 more songs. I’m a little fried at the moment and not really in the mood to be a clever writer but I wanted to write something…otherwise it’d be another few days before I got around to it.

Also, I’ve developed an addiction to an online game called City of Heroes. It’s to the point where I actually dream about the game. I’m a little embarrassed about this but GAWD DAMN the game is fun =)

I’ve also been spending time on facebook… I see that the rest of the world has been doing this too. I had an account for a few years and then suddenly it seemed like everyone and their mother is now a member. I’m not so addicted to that but I do usually update my status via Twitter or my cell phone.

Speaking of cell phones… Palm has a new Treo coming out called the “Pre”. IT WILL BE MINE SOON! MINE! MINE!

Ok…this is a pointless blog entry but it needs to be done. Alright, now the dog needs some attention.

I can’t believe it’s 2009! I usually do a little “year in review” post but I’m going to make a resolution not to do that this year. Of course, resolutions are made to be broken right? We’ll see.

My trip back to Michigan was a super memorable one. I hadn’t planned on going back for the holiday but I’m thankful I did.

I spent time seeing old friends and hanging out with family. I didn’t get to see everyone I was hoping to see or spend as much time with people as I would have liked but the time I spent was high quality. I’m grateful.

I rented a 4X4 for the week so I could dig through the snowy roads. A Dodge Nitro… Fun car to drive. Coming back home to my Prius was a little trippy. But coming back home to my dog takes the cake. Vladimir practically jumped out of his skin when I walked in the door.

So here’s the surgery update:

I flew back from Detroit on the 30th and had a doctor appointment the 31st… a Pre-Op exam(which is basically an exam to make sure you’re healthy enough for surgery). So yesterday, I got a call from my doctor… I FAILED my PRE-OP. My white blood cells are too high. I had to go back in today for more blood-work. Meanwhile, I’ve had this toothache for the last 2 days… I went to the dentist today and just had a root canal. My tooth was infected. Probably explains the white blood count. Now taking antibiotics. 

This is all pretty frustrating. Supposed to reschedule for another date but don’t know when that might be. Right now, I’m more concerned with this throbbing mouth pain. Bleh!! I was completely mentally prepared for the surgery too…. Hell, I even got a buzz cut in preparation. Now, I just look silly but saving money on shampoo! 

My mom was supposed to fly out tomorrow to help me out after having my head cracked open but she was able to get the ticket changed. She just has to use it up before a year so all’s not lost. So, that’s the update. The good news is I’m not having surgery on Monday…the bad news? More waiting. :-\

I still have to go back and see my GP on the 31st for a pre-op sort of thing.

I’m nervous as hell.

I leave Sunday night to head back to Michigan for Christmas…for now I’m just trying to focus on having a good trip but the thought of having my skull opened up is pretty much consuming my every thought.

So I saw the Surgeon today and he was really fantastic. He must have talked with me for over an hour and walked me through the MRI. Answered every question I had and even some I never asked. The guy’s probably younger than I am but I feel very comfortable with him.

He wanted to do the operation sooner but I’ve decided I’m going to try to go back to MI for the Xmas to see friends and family before I go through all this. So he said he’ll schedule it the 1st week in January. I’ll know more later.

I guess they’re going to go in through the back of my head and put a few holes in me. I’m a little scared. But, I’m glad they’re wanting to to try and fix me.
