You might also find that your area&#8217;s public transportation does not meet your needs, due to time restraints or because it is simply too uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are a variety of programs available to help you get where you need to go, many of which cost little to no money, ensuring that a variety of paratransit programs exist to meet your treatment needs, no matter what they might be.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Although there are a wide variety of private, for profit non-emergency medical transportation options for hire, these are oftentimes too expensive or are not fully covered by a patient&#8217;s insurance policy. Many local governments at the city, county, and state levels provide transportation services to sufferers of <strong><a href="http://www.mesothelioma.com/">mesothelioma</a></strong> and other cancers. The Department of Transportation or a social worker will be able to tell you if your area is serviced by a public service such as Dial-A-Ride. The Americans with Disabilities Act, which passed in 1990 and has been in effect since 1992, drastically expanded the availability of public paratransit services.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to the transport programs provided by the state, private charities and religious organizations often provide similar services on a local basis. Hospitals and other treatment facilities of a certain size often have free or inexpensive transport programs of their own. You should inquire at your area&#8217;s places of worship. <strong><a href="http://www.cancer.org/">The American Cancer Society</a></strong>, committed to the prevention and treatment of cancer, operates the Road to Recovery, a large organization of volunteer drivers and who give their time and their vehicles so that cancer patients across the country can get the treatment they need. <p style="text-align: justify;">Longer journeys to clinics may necessitate traveling by plane, which can sometimes be prohibitively expensive. Fortunately there are charities that exist so that patients can access the treatment they require, no matter how far away it might be. <p>Even more disconcerting, a stereotype does exist in places where the term yoga is synonymous with cult, or some kind of archaic spiritual belief that compels one to quit their job, sell their house, and go live in the middle of nowhere.<span id="more-262"></span></p>
<p>In actual fact, Yoga is a very basic &#8220;thing&#8221;. If you’ve had the opportunity to visit a country where it has been established for generations – India, Japan, China, and others – it’s really rather, well, &#8220;ordinary&#8221;.</p>
<p>The practice of yoga came to the west back in 1893 when one of India’s celebrated gurus, Swami Vivekananda, was welcomed at the World Fair in Chicago. He is now known for having sparked the West’s interest in yoga.</p>
<p>Literally, the word yoga comes from the Sanskrit term Yug, which means: “to yoke, bind, join, or direct one’s attention”. At the same time, yoga can also imply concepts such as fusion, union, and discipline.</p>
<p>The sacred scriptures of Hinduism (an ancient belief system from India that has a global presence) also defines yoga as “unitive discipline”; the kind of discipline that, according to experts Georg Feuerstein and Stephan Bodian in their book Living Yoga, leads to inner and outer union, harmony and joy.</p>
<p>In essence, yoga is most commonly understood as conscious living; of tapping into one’s inner potential for happiness (what Sankrit refers to as ananda).</p>
<p>What Yoga Isn’t:</p>
<p>Sometimes it’s helpful to understand things by what they aren’t; especially when dealing with a topic, like Yoga, that is quite easily misunderstood.</p>
<p>Authors and yoga scholars Feuerstein and Bodian help us understand yoga by telling us what it is NOT:</p>
<p>Yoga is NOT calisthenics (marked by the headstand, the lotus posture or some pretzel-like pose). While it is true that yoga involves many postures – especially in hatha yoga – these are only intended to make people get in touch with their inner feelings.</p>
<p>Yoga is NOT a system of meditation – or a religion – the way many people are misled to believe. Meditation is only part of the whole process of bringing ourselves into the realm of the spiritual.</p>
<p>What is the essence of Yoga?</p>
<p>Virtually all yogic science and philosophy states that a human being is but a fragment of an enormous universe, and when this human being learns to “communion” with this vastness, then he/she attains union with something that is bigger than him/her.</p>
<p>This attachment or tapping into something bigger thus enables one to walk the true path of happiness. By flowing along with the force, the individual is able to discover truth.</p>
<p>And with truth comes realization; but to attain realization, our words, thoughts and deeds must be based on truth. People attend courses on yoga and go to studios to learn new techniques in yoga, but yoga teacher Tim Miller said that “True yoga begins when leave the studio; it’s all about being awake and being mindful of your actions&#8221;.</p>

<p>What is A Swiss Ball?<br />
A Swiss ball is a ball constructed of elastic rubber with a diameter of around 55 to 85 cm (22 to 34 inches). It is used in physical therapy and exercise.</p>
<p>Yoga with Balance Ball?<br />
Doing yoga on a ball allows your body to open gently so you can keep your breath flowing and remain aware of signs of strain so you don&#8217;t injure yourself. The balance ball supports you in certain poses and helps you modify each posture to suit your body.</p>
<p>Sit on The Ball!<br />
Sitting on a ball instead of a chair is a great way to keep your spine healthy. Try to sit on a ball for at least part of your work day, if you have a desk job. When you sit on a ball, you&#8217;re forced to sit up with good posture because you have nothing to lean back on. Also, because the ball rolls around, it keeps you on your toes and keeps your body moving, which help prevent the stiffness and back pain that you can get from being too sedentary.</p>
<p>Bent Knee Bridge for Buttocks and hamstrings<br />
How to do it: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your heels resting on top of the ball. Spread your arms out on either side of you. Lift your butt off the floor while squeezing it, and push your hips toward the ceiling. Pause at the top of the movement, then go back to the starting position.</p>
<p>The following are some guidelines in planning and running a medicine ball session :-</p>
<p>1. Always ensure the athletes carry out a thorough warm up and warm down<br />
2. Before starting a session, explain the procedures for each exercise with your athletes<br />
3. Partners who feed the medicine ball on certain exercises should be well drilled on what is required<br />
4. Medicine ball exercises must precede high intensity work<br />
5. Start sessions with lighter less dynamic exercises, then progress to heavier exercises<br />
6. The program should have exercises that match the pattern of movements of the sport<br />
7. Plan the program to exercise alternate body parts (legs, upper body, torso)<br />
8. You will need to have a number of different weights of ball available &#8211; heavy, medium and light</p>
<p>A primary benefit of exercising with a Swiss ball as opposed to exercising directly on a hard flat surface is that the body responds to the instability of the ball to remain balanced, engaging many more muscles to do so. Those muscles become stronger over time to keep balance.</p>
