Darren runs a bunch of successful websites, two of which I tend to frequent myself – DigitalPhotographySchool.com and ProBlogger.net. Naturally, I was pretty happy to work with Darren to put together a newsletter for his 333,000 subscribers.

After some initial wireframes, this is what we came up with for the final design.

Darren is planning to start using this new template with the beginning of the new year. I can’t wait to see what kind of feedback he receives.

• I’ve added a right column to the design
• I added her site navigation to the right hand column to hopefully get her more traffic
• I’ve added her social media icons (twitter and facebook)

• All her content is layed out in a balanced way and the new headings draw your eye to each section

I’m really excited to see what sort of impact this makes on the success of Faith’s email subscribers.

Carr & Duff is Philadelphia’s leading multifaceted electrical construction company.

They have an impressive electrical construction portfolio:

• Philadelphia Airport (lighting for the runways, wiring the lcd screens that display flight times inside the terminal, installing automated “smart” doors, etc.)
• Philadelphia Park & Casino and Citizens Bank Park parking lot lighting
• Lighting for the Falls Bridge (featured picture on their homepage)

Being a steady client of mine, I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to redesign their website.

Working hand in hand with sales and marketing manager, Mike Wessner (nicest guy) we wanted to make sure the website had an elegance that most electrical companies lack within their online presence while still have a corporate-type feel to it.

Now that these pages have been launched, we are hoping to have phase 2 complete sometime in mid August. It will include design tweaks to current pages and a way to reserve rental equipment online.

Being one of the two web designers at AWeber I wrote this article about all the various issues I’ve encountered making our html email templates.

Hopefully this will save some people the headaches I’ve encountered when testing across various email clients.

Admittedly, I’m a little behind the ball posting my projects. Rancocas Anesthesiology was a project I completed around mid 2008.

It was a fun project and I’m proud of how it came out.

So without delay, lets begin.

Rancocas Anesthesiology is a large organization that provides anesthesiologist staffing for many of the major hospitals in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

Before this website was created, each department director would create the weekly schedule. They would then print it out and fax it to 30+ locations. If for some reason the schedule changed (which happens frequently) the department director would retype the schedule, print it and re-fax it to ALL 30+ locations.

Obviously a less-than-an-ideal system. Employees who work in multiple locations throughout the week, would often show up at the wrong location because their version of the schedule was outdated.

Login Page:

As an employee portal, for safety reasons, this site is password protected. You’ll see further down the page that I have to blur out some of the information in order to share this design.

Weekly Schedules Page

After logging into your account – this is where you will arrive.

How this page solves those issues:
We’ve added versioning to the weekly schedule (fig. 1) and a comments area to highlight what changed and/or notes for that day (fig. 2)…

Weekly Schedules Admin Page

Updating the weekly schedule is a breeze:

Simply type in the initials of the employees listed for each day and click the Save button at the bottom of the page.


What happens if their is a typo and they didn’t want to update the version of the schedule?

We got you covered with two ways to save.

Call Schedule Page

Employees can easily scan the schedule to see what days they are on call. We’ve highlighted the current date in green and the weekends in gray.

Memos Page

The memos page is available to all employees, although only the people with admin access are able to post memos.

We’ve also added the ability for them to upload images such as pdf documents so employees can easily print them out.

Employee Directory Page

Nothing particularly special about this page. We’ve listed all the names alphabetically and added the ability to sort alphabetically by each column… this way with a quick click you can sort out all the CRNA’s if you needed to.

Summary

I enjoyed working on this project. I always tend to enjoy working on projects where I’m able to focus on the user interface and how people interact with the website. I love what I do and I hope that shows in my work.

I used Armstrong Santos Mahogany Laminate flooring… so far its been pretty easy to put down. We broke half the piece of shit tools we were using so we ended up doing most of the “banging it into place” with our hands and all the seams are tight.

Its all starting to come together.

Eric and I have developed a reputation here at AWeber for being the most eccentric people. So far we have some sick movie posters, an SNES, hooked our space up with some plants, etc…

Toyo was one of my original clients back when I was still in school. It was fun for me to redesign their site. Four simple pages for a bargain price (a few free lunches for me and my friend).

Plus the owner is a good friend of mine and I’ve been eating here for years.
