I have spent a significant amount of my recent time trying to figure out how to be a recording musician who uses only Open Source software. I believe I have figured it out. So... three things: 1) you will see more frequent posts. 2) the focus will shift to the trials and imbibulations of a semi-young rocker/IT manager geeking out in the Open Source recording world. 3) I am changing the domain name from bobwashere.com to rockdweeb.com. I already own it, but it won't work right now. Give me a day, and then... wake the kids, call the neighbors.

BTW... i reserve the right to post whatever i want, wherever i want, whenever i want. If i wanted parameters,I'd still be writing for newspapers and Billboard. :P

I continue to work on digitizing the old Shu bootlegs. I think I am going to add them to the Live Music Archive @ archive.org. The site is very cool. I'll post updates to the Shu archive here and on FB. I may have some more up tonight. We shall see.

I've started uploading the many Shu bootlegs that Chris Friday gave me a few months ago. I am thinking of rearranging the archive a bit, so I put them in a new place. HERE. I have two shows uploaded so far, and some old demos. I will also be moving in all of the Shu stuff previously found in the archive.

i started some lyrics... maybe. LOL We'll see if I can turn them into something tonight in the studio. I haven't been writing a lot of lyrics lately. So, even if this sucks, it is a step in the right direction:

As I said... it's a start. LOL. Incidentally, I used an old trick to break my writers block. I used to do this in college a lot. Non-stop, stream of consciousness writing. It is sort of a forced. non-mystical, automatic writing. LOL. The only goal is to fill a page. the only rule is that you cannot stop writing. Grammar, continuity, and coherence be damned. Anyway, here is the babble I started with as a catalyst for a possible tune. BTW - almost every Shu song was written this way. Which is probably why most of them are completely nonsensical. ;)

The history and legacy of our music leaves me a bit torn. I am now listening to the gigantic library of Distractions tunes. Again, so good. But, here we are. Don't get me wrong, life is good for all of us. But music is still a second job or hobby for me and my Shu and Distractions buddies. I don't really know what my complaint is. At this point, fame is something i have come close enough to to know that I don't want it. But... what if we could JUST do this. Just play music. No day jobs. No side gigs to make ends meet. We just play our own great music and spend the rest of our time coming up with new great music. That would be quite a life. But, alas, we live in a material world, and I am a material girl. ;)
