But it can be done, and surprisingly easily!

Why can’t you just log all errors, or failures in one directory…

And during these Stress tests, I found that it was very hard to pin down the reason, it seemed that certain tasks (ie. Checking my Email) would cause it sometimes but not other times, but small files being transferred by FTP would nail it dead, even if it was being uploaded to my Home Directory. Which didn’t make much sense, as FTP transfers don’t use that much CPU, and I was only seeing a very small (~1%) increase in CPU during it. And I was mem caching all the pages anyway so the Hard Drive Overhead wouldn’t affect it…

But, while I was looking for music I heard a sound that told me what it was… It was a very quiet sound, and it was nearly constant… It was the Sound of the Server’s Hard Drive constantly Seeking… And that’s when it hit me…

The reason it was hard to pin down is that I didn’t account for the Spiders, when I was doing my tests, as I was loading the same page, a whole pile of Spiders were crawling others, as such the server was loading a page of disc, Caching it to RAM, compiling it, then it would send the output to the client, and Cache the output to the HDD for the next time someone wanted that exact page, and since the Spiders were crawling lots of different pages there was a lot of HDD activity, and when I checked my Emails it added a very small amount of load, but when I did a FTP transfer with lots of little files it would nearly stall Apache, as it was waiting for Reads and Writes, and the FTP Daemon was filling up the stream with files, and as it was transferring more files than Apache was, as Apache started to slow to a crawl, it could do more files, which lead to Apache taking upwards of 20 seconds to load a page.

What this taught me was that my Caching went like this:

Apache would load the Raw PHP file and set the PHP Parser on it, Then xCache would store the non changing Variables and Functions to RAM, Then Apache would send the output to the Client, Then Apache would store it to it’s Disk based Cache.

And when a Client wanted the file (ie. My Blog’s Homepage) Apache would check if the Cached Copy was Valid (Apache checks every 5 minutes if the outputs match) and that the Inputs Matched (If they didn’t regenerate a new copy, as it was probable that the output would have changed), and If it passed all the checks it would grab it off the HDD.

The Main reason I was Caching the files was to lower the HDD load, to almost nothing, so that pages load fast because there was no Hard Drive IO Overhead! Which was being negated by Apache.

And After looking at my httpd.conf, I noticed that there was an option, mod_mem_cache… which Does the same as the Disk Caching, but it was caching to RAM, and the most popular pages had priority, so that it would cache the important stuff! So after disabling mod_disk_cache and enabling mod_mem_cache… the page load times were at least 5 times faster (First load Down from 20-30 Seconds to 5.32 Seconds, and the rest of the loads after that initial load Down from 10 seconds for content to appear, to 2 seconds for the page to be fully loaded) which brings it within the Golden 5 second load time.

Also… if you were wondering on what song it was that I settled on… it was this:

The cause of this being more complex is that the Cops are being blamed for being ‘Heavy Handed’ (See Stuff.co.nz Article) for

“[...]  forced an innocent 65-year-old man [John Bennett] to lie face-down on silt-covered ground and jammed a rifle against his face.”

First, that statement is either out of order, or exaggerated to a point where it’s supposed to paint the cops as being ‘Bad’. It even calls him “Innocent”, when he was charged with crimes of “unlawfully carrying an air pistol and possessing a baseball bat with the apparent intention to use it to commit an offence involving the fear of violence.” Which Bennett agrees with, so he isn’t Innocent, which is a nice display of the Media Bias, the Police just dropped them out because he was old, and that he had no other Prior convictions. Not that he wasn’t Guilty.

It’s most likely to be both, as when the Police arrested him the AOS officer would have not known that the gun was a fake, as it was to early to do that investigation, and when they were doing that check they would have had him on the ground, Face-down.

First, the Bennett, who got arrested, agrees that the Firearm looks fearsome, in the light, now you switch to the Police’s view at that time, where they could see a silhouette of a pistol (Keeping in mind that it is Night time, and there would have been little or no light)… And since they could not have known that it was a fake, they would have presumed that it was a live, real firearm and would have taken the action that would keep them and the neighbourhood safe. Also, the AOS was there because of reports of an Armed Individual in the area, and he would have fitted with that description.

And it gets better… He AIMED it towards the AOS officers, so the Officers had a Unknown firearm, POINTED at them. So they arrested him, after he was asked again, at gun point. So, the AOS who are trained for an armed felon, had an Unknown individual, with a Firearm, aiming said Firearm at them, while they were there for a call about an individual with a Firearm, so you can see how they would have assessed the risk against it.

Now he says that he didn’t know that they were police until after they had arrested him, even though there were 2 occurrences where the Police officer had told him to put the weapons on the ground, and he never noticed the massive “POLICE” written in white Reflective material, on the Black Ballistic Vest that AOS are REQUIRED to wear, at all times, and also when they would have told him his rights. Either he can’t remember (Due to the stress of the situation, which is highly likely) or for some reason the Police didn’t do anything that they are trained to do, or even wear the correct gear that they HAVE to wear… Which is highly unlikely as they were going into a unknown area, with firearms, and there is no other type of bullet proof vest, the only closest is the Stab proof vest, which is useless against close range or large (Over 9mm) bullets. The former is most likely.

And he only got held in prison for 3.5 hours, which isn’t that long, seeing that most crimes  lead to being held for at least the night. And he went through a Standard processing so nothing spectacular, a Simple on site search to make sure he isn’t carrying something that can hurt them or himself, Mug Shot, DNA, and Fingerprints. Which are all routine procedures.

And he’s having a problem with his hands being handcuffed behind his back, which is standard procedure when police handcuff people.

And the Timeline of the Article is out of order in parts, and it allows the timeline to point towards Bennett.

1. Police set up a checkpoint for an unknown individual with a firearm
2. Police enter a residence to see if the Offender has hidden there.
3. Bennett exits the house and tell the unknown people (The AOS officers) to leave.
4. The AOS officers begin to leave.
5. Bennett hears noise at the gate, grabs Gun and Baseball Bat.
6. Whilst AOS Officers reach the gate and open it.
7. Bennett leaves house with gun and Baseball Bat at the Ready. Walking into the AOS Officers.
8. The Police that were searching to see if the unknown individual with a firearm, see an unknown individual [Bennett] with a firearm, and they tell him to drop it.
9. Bennett turns and points the Firearm at an AOS Officer.
10. Another AOS Officer, tells Bennett to drop the weapons again.
11. Bennett places the weapons on the ground.
12. A Neighbour enters the area and asks who they are, they answer the Police, which shows that they were very forthcoming with who they are.
13. One AOS Officer pushes him up against a wall, to do a routine search, while another AOS officer covers him (Again, this is usual).
14. The Wife (Iris Bennett) exits the house and sees the AOS officer, in AOS Uniform, doing a search while the other AOS officer covers them.
15. The AOS officer then instructs Bennett to lie face-down on the ground, so they can handcuff him.
16. Bennett resists arrest (And holds his hands in front of his chest), and the officer has to use force on him to Handcuff him.
17. Bennett is then driven to the Local Police station, and is processed, then released.
18. Then when he arrives home, his wife notices the marks that the Police officer leaves when he had to forcibly arrest him.
19. He then goes to the doctor and receives Stress medicine (Notice this, he had suffered Stress from this so his recount isn’t exactly what happened, this is why Police go for Witnesses when a Stressful environment happens, as the person who is receiving the stress will have an effected memory, which will not remember the entire accident correctly)

And he leaves this lovely quote

You HAVE the right to protect your home, just not with a Firearm, You can’t go down to your local gun-shop for a gun to protect your house, they wouldn’t sell it to you.

You may think that this is just a Air Pistol, there is no harm in it. Which is wrong simply because:

• It’s styled after a real pistol.
• It fires a Projectile, at force. (And is covered under the Arms Code 1983 [The Current Ruling Legislation] as an ‘Airgun’)
• There are Air-soft guns which are more powerful than 9mm Handguns.

The reason the Police arrested him, wasn’t because he was protecting his house, it was because he was using a Firearm to do it! If he had been using a Baseball bat only, he most likely would have been given an Official Warning and allowed to go back to bed.

If he had done this in another country, he would most likely be dead, In America, He would have been shot when he pointed it at another Armed officer, if he had lasted that long.

Which sounds completely logical. As the Green’s MP Mojo Mathers who is Deaf [Stuff Article] has to pay the $20-30 Thousand to buy a Laptop and an Assistant to convert what was being said in the chamber to Text that is transmitted to that laptop.

Which would be an extravagance if there was Closed Captioning of the Debates so that people with Hearing impairments can also know what is happening about the Government’s governance of New Zealand. But, if there was Closed Captioning of the Debates, this person would not be needed as the MP would be able to use it.

Come on, some MP’s charge us Tax payers so they can buy porn, booze and have junket trips around the world [And for the Diplomatic Protection Team follow them on their personal holidays... PM Key.], but we can’t spare the money for 1 Laptop, and to allow disadvantaged persons all over New Zealand, and possibly the rest of the world, to be able to know what’s happening first hand, not waiting for the Biased News Corporations to publish the side that fits with their views.

For a country that touts it’s tolerance to disabled persons, and the drive for equality for people with disability, the Government doesn’t even hide the fact that they don’t care.

But for once it wasn’t a software bug that I had on it, more of a small obnoxious insect, which had a very very short life span…

But nothing is emited from Black Holes, let alone escape the massive gravitation of a Black Hole… So how are we seeing these emissions?

This is true… But most are ringed by a disk of gas and dust. As objects are pulled in, this material heats up to incredible temperatures, generating energy. Which are detected a X-Rays by the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

But how do we know that there are asteroids being eaten? We have no equipment that can see them?

So internet… This is what I have to say to you…

I can use this time to announce the new direction that I want to take with this blog.

Well, before now I used to focus on Gaming… Which I did… Ok at. But I didn’t enjoy doing that, and it showed in the quality of the posts, which were… Well very very shitty.

So I’m not setting a “I must only do this” line for this blog from now on. It will be a place that I spout about what I found interesting, or just some Amazing things people have done!

But Where can I find my Gaming News now?

Why not check out The LANBox, the guys there do Marvellous posts on Gaming news… Plus they have a Fun Social part which you can chat with people… Or troll *Clap Clap* Nice Work.

There is still some niggles that are there, and not all the fun things I ran before are working… Yet.

But I’m working on it!

So, your at work/school/home and you remember that your tier 2 PI is going to end soon, and you are wondering what the price (at Jita) of the PI goods you are making are… and you can’t access EVE, so how would you check the price? Well… it’s simple… You look here.

That data is pulled from EVE Central every Hour… I would like Half hour, but when I try that EVE Central always returns 502 Errors so it’s a no go there…

But what if you are In EVE and it’s full screen, how do you get refreshed data with out having to minimize EVE (Which EVE does when you select another window which is on another screen)? Simple, the page uses magic (*Cough* Javascript *Cough*) to refresh every Hour, which is good, because co-incidentally thats the time which the Data is refreshed from EVE Central… So you have to do absolutely squat, while you Mine/Kill everything/Generate ISK by reselling products for a profit.

So what exactly can you see on there?

• Refined Minerals (If you don’t refine you are losing ISK)
• Refined Ice (Same reason as above)
• PI goods (Teir 1, Tier 2, Teir 3, Teir 4)
• Ships [Caldari, Amarr, Gallente, Minmatar, Ore] (Battlecruisers , Battleships, Capital Ships, Cruisers, Destroyers,  Frigates, Industrials, Shuttles) [This includes the new Tier 3 ones!]
• Ammunition (Missiles, Hybrid, Laser Frequency crystals, Projectile, Rocket, Torpedo, Defender, Mining Crystals, Bombs)
• Plex

“But the prices aren’t what EVE reports to me! Why?” – Simple answer, the prices showen on my pages aren’t live… And they can’t be unless I get direct access to CCP’s EVE Market database… Which they probably will never allow, and at this time I don’t want it. This tool, is created solely for the reason of gathering a rough idea of the prices around that time… Not the exact price. As such the prices will be delayed up to an hour in most circumstances (It’s a ~1.5 hours delay if you put a market order up right on Maintenance).

Will you run this for ever?

Maybe, it depends on the Data usage (Unless Telecom NZ remove my Data cap ), but I will attempt to run this for as long as I can!

Due to the fact I live in NZ, this probably displays before December 25th where you live.

Because it was a Perfect release. Everything they said will be in the release, was in the damn release, which is a far cry from Incarna, where they said that we will receive all 4 Captain’s Quarters (3 of which were released in Crucible) and that we would be able to walk in stations (Which we still can’t do.)

But the important part was that they actually showed that they listened to the community! They brought back Ship spinning, after the community complained. It showed that they picked up on the fact, that they had lost their way, and were focusing on the wrong things (The Nex Store and Monoclegate) and were just alienating the community.

But there are still some niggles with how they have implemented it, like there are some minor shadow bugs in Caldari CQs, some of the messages aren’t completely correct (Jumping to Stargate, displays the Origin Stargate’s name not the Destination gate’s name, so it comes up with Warping to Stargate(Poinen) then Jumping to Stargate(Poinen)) and there should be away to set the darkness of the trails (Client side only.)

But all in all, there are no major issues with it, and it’s actually got me back into EVE… which is surprising.

Also, it causes issues with Skyrim, I need more time in a day so I can play both.

Also this is post 2⁷ or post 128… I am to much of a nerd.

Then the user has 7 days to set it up, and when those 7 days have elapsed, it will become viewable to the public & other users.

It’s that simple.

MAN YOUR HARPOON GUNS A COMET APPROACHES!

Now, the actual plan is not to use a Ballista to launch a harpoon, but to use an explosive charge to fire it, but for “Safety reasons” (AKA. The Engineers just wanted to make a weapon) they are just testing it with a Ballista.

Mind you, they have to aim the Ballista downwards for safety reasons, as if they fire it upwards the harpoon will fly for a mile (About 1.6 Km)! This is because the pair of truck leaf springs and the bow string made of steel cable 1/2 inch thick, provides 1,000 pounds (About 450 kg) of force, which accelerates the Harpoon to 100 miles per hour (160 km/h)
